Aman-ud-Din = The fur cloak was pulled further about his tall frame, keeping the cold winter air from his body. Having come from the hot sands of Arabia, Aman-ud-Din, even though he had been a resident in Skye for a year or so now, was still finding adjustment to the climate, though part of him wondered if he would ever settle into the chill of winter and autumn. The black cloth was pulled from his face, revealing the markings upon his cheeks as he stepped into the inn and closed the door behind him, leaving the cold where it belonged: outside. The turban wrap upon his head hid the markings across his forehead, but it also kept his head somewhat warm. Even as he stepped further into the inn, a brown sack was removed from his shoulders and to the bar he went, setting the merchandises carefully on the bar. Rose came over, smiling wide having a clue what was in the bag. Spices from the East. Aman-ud-Din chuckled. ``That should do you well enough, Lady Rose, and I hope your customers will be glad of a little seasoning in their food.`` He jested, and in exchange for the goods, Rose handed him the small pouch of coins, payment. Rose was another good customer to him, putting the spices and herbs that he had in her food which seemed to do well in the eyes of her patrons, for she was always asking for more. ``But now, my dear Lady, I must seek the warmth of the fire, I am not quite so adapt to these winters of Skye as you are.`` He chuckled, and that was where he went. Settling his tall form down in the chair nearest the hearth, a contented sigh fell from the Arabs lips as he leaned back and for a moment closed his eyes, enjoying a moment of peace and warmth.
Danae Galanos = The Greek woman would be found already within the Inn. Her weapons all against a nearby wall with the exception of her dagger and katar. She was sitting at a booth like table one side with the usual chairs, the other with a bench. Behind her, a partial wall for privacy. She sat alone with one hand curled and pressed against a copper cheek while her head was turned slightly. The other hand held her fork as she played with the food upon her plate in an idle manner. She had heard the door open but failed to turn and lift her eyes, not until she heard a familar voice. With her cheek still resting on the slightly balled fist, and still swirling the fork within her food, she watched Aman-ud-Din make himself comfortable. A small smile made claim to full lips as she watched in silence, allowing him to find the peace and warmth he seemed to be wanting.
Aman-ud-Din = And for those already seeking shelter in the inn, Aman-ud-Din could hardly blame them. He was now among them, seeking warmth and heat from the bitter chills outside. Because of the cold temperatures, his joints were stiffer it seemed, aching from time to time, but when the sun melted the snow and Spring came, joints and bones ached no more. The thick fur cloak was still wrapped about him, having yet to remove it as he soaked up the heat, glad of it. Once his body began to feel some measure of heat, his eyes opened. What would help even more would be a cup of hot tea. Anulia started to keep his handmade tea bags behind the counter for him here, which saved him from having to always carry them. With a soft sigh, Aman-ud-Din rose from the chair, joints popping softly with the action, before he set himself to motion toward the bar to ask Rose for a cup of hot water and one of the cinnamon tea bags he had behind her counter. However, she seemed to always know, and before he could finish asking, she held up a finger and set a mug out, filling it with boiling hot water as she reached for a tea bag to hand to him. ``I have been here too much it seems, Rose already knows before I ask.`` He mused softly, and once the mug was full, he placed the tea bag into it and paid her for the hot water. Turning on grey boot heels, brown eyes noticed a familiar figure sitting along in a booth seat. Ah yes, Danae, the 'former' lady ranger. Aman-ud-Din doubted she would be retired for too long of a time, but that he kept to himself at the moment. ``Assalaam alaikum, friend.`` He greeted warmly.
Danae Galanos = ``I would have spoken before now, but you seem to be enjoying the warmth and quietness so much, I didn't want to disturb you.`` She would say with a slow creeping smile as he made his way toward her. ``And assalaam alaikum to you as well. Feel free to join me if you like.`` She said as her head canted even while resting on her fist. ``It seems to take some time to get use to the drastic changes in weather when not you're not familiar with them.`` However, Danae was pretty much use to any and all weather as well as terrain now. She had traveled nearly all her life, having started at a young age with her father and brother. ``So what has you out in this weather today friend?`` she would ask.
Aman-ud-Din = Disturb him? Nonsense. Aman-ud-Din was not the sort of man to bark and growl at a friend who wished to grace him with a greeting. Had he not wanted to be disturbed, Aman-ud-Din would have turned to head back to his home/shop. The Arab waved his free hand, dismissing the idea of her disturbing him. ``My dear, if I so longed for warmth and silence, I would be hiding in my home.`` He replied, before taking up her offer and carefully sliding into the empty seat. The clay mug was placed upon the table's surface, letting the tea steep a few more moments and to cool somewhat so it did not burn his tongue. ``Especially if you have spent a vast portion of your life in the sun and heat.`` The Arab added, nodding in agreement. ``Business. Delivering a bit of spices and Eastern goods to Rose. Seems Europeans have a taste for garlic, among other things as well.`` Aman-ud-Din leaned back in the seat, shifting his long legs so one could stretch out partly. ``And you? What of Rose's delicious cuisine has beckoned you here to the inn, or were you too seeking warmth from the hearth?``
Danae Galanos = The smile seem to grow even if for only a moment as he gave the dismissal wave with his hand and spoke of hiding. The dark haired warrior would nod then in agreement when he went on to add the part about living in the sun and heat. Her eyes of a cool blue would fall to the partially eaten food before her. Stabbing it a time or two before again idly twirling it. As Aman-ud-Din asked for her reason once he had given his, she looked to him as her lips parted to give her reply. ``Passing time before riding back to Red Wall. I came to see if any word had been sent by a messenger from Avaria, hoping for a bit of good news. Though, I'm coming to think that no news is good news. I decided that a good meal in a warm Inn would do me good. Without the whiskey and rum this time around.`` She said with a grin.
Ama-ud-Din = Passing time, waiting for the inevitable. Aman-ud-Din nodded. A lot of people were waiting and passing the time, counting down their free days before the war gripped them all. Aman-ud-Din had his share of warfare and violence, even though he had been a bodyguard for the Sultan, it was not always so, and even then he went on campaigns and defended caravans when they traveled to other realms. Aman-ud-Din knew about warfare, but now that he was older, he was less inclined to strike down someone for the sheer ability to do so. Dark eyes glanced to her plate of half-consumed food, and he nodded. Perhaps her thoughts had stolen part of her apetite. It was common, after Tahirah's return to Pern, Aman-ud-Din found himself not eating for a few days, he simply had not the will. But she added the lack of alcohol to it, and Aman-ud-Din chuckled. ``You will never see an Arab consuming alcohol, my friend. I know you wait for news of your lands, or perhaps word of a mistake and reinstating you. My friend, I suggest you let the messenger come to you, as is their duty, and continue to fulfill yours.`` He replied, glancing down to the tea for a moment, before turning back to the Greek. ``In time, they might realize their loss and error, but until then, there is much you have left to do...for yourself. Now you have time to devote to your person, something that many people crave for. You have a rare treasure, my friend. Take advantage of it.`` Aman-ud-Din smiled a bit.
Danae Galanos = Her eyes would lower and raise a couple times as silence seem to stake its claim for a moment. When the Arab began talking once more, she nodded only to chuckle as his had summoned her own. With the words that followed, she frowned. Eyes fell once more and she nodded, she knew he meant well, but this warrior felt lost without a regiment to command. Fighting, protecting, training, these were all the things that made her who she is. Who was she without them? Just another woman now... one that was now without definition. ``Some things I am willing and more able to accept, ...others... perhaps not so much.`` And now? Now without such duties, she had nothing to occupy her time, which left plenty for thinking and her thoughts always turned to a particular person now. Even when she was able to not think of him, suddenly he would appear and damn it if she wasn't right back where she was. She had to admit though, coming across him this last time had paid off. She had punched him in the face and given him a black eye. It was the hardest she had ever hit someone in her life and it hurt her hand like hell, but damn it felt good to release all that emotion on him. ``Maahes has been kind enough to ask me to keep the refugees at Red Wall safe. So that does give me and my men something to do.`` She looked to the Arab again. ``Ealora is a good woman, I'm happy for them both. But I have to admit I worry for their safety these days. Shaden's as well.``
Aman-ud-Din = Everyone had a purpose in life, and while their surroundings might change, there was no reason for that duty to change. Aman-ud-Din had once been a simple camel herder. Then, he had been ripped from that task and for the better bulk of his life, he was a guardian to the Sultan and his family. Now, his task might have been different, once again simpler, but he still was safeguarding the children and carrying out a simple occupation of merchandises. But, the Arab could understand the difficulty in accepting or experiencing change. He had been there many times. And so, he nodded. ``As are we all. Not all change is what we expect or want...some place of completely out of comfort.`` It did for him anyway. When she went on, Aman-ud-Din did well to listen. Patience was a thing he had to learn, it was not suddenly gifted to him like a spark of fire. It came with time. ``Your place of being may differ, Danae, but that does not mean your life has to as well. I have never heard of the Duchess or Duke turning down a soldier with experience and patience. Perhaps you could give the refugees a new meaning and purpose so they are no long refugees, but belong and have their own sense of duty.`` He suggested, remember part of what Danae had spoken of earlier, about her being dismissed from Avaria as a ranger there by details he was not completely sure of, and the issue of Peregrin had a bit to do with that as well, things he would not openly delve into unless she wished to speak on them. ``Why are you worried so, Danae, for Earlora and Shaden?`` He asked, curiously.
Danae Galanos = The Greek woman would nod a time or so, having given the Arab her full and undivided attention. As she listened, she had to think to herself that no matter what she was doing or where she was at in life, that if it seemed bad, talking with Aman-ud-Din helped. She understood the points he was making and knew his words were wise. Even though his words were comforting, they did not rid her of her worry and concern completely. ``Perry seems to be around quite often.`` More than Danae wanted him to be that was for sure. ``I know I lo-....did love him at one time, but I see him as trouble. I always have but particularly more so now.`` Perhaps it was now because she was so angry with him and wanted more reasons to hate him. To give her other things along with their differences and him leaving her to keep her distance from him. ``I worry he will harm them...I know him fairly well and Perry never does things without reason.``
Aman-ud-Din = Aman-ud-Din offered what advice and help he could, though he never tried to preach or seem to be 'all-knowing' because, well to be frank, he wasn't. He knew what he did from experience of living and seeing some things happen to others, or what he would think would be a better solution in his mind. Not to say he was always right, but it was up to the person to take what they could from it and do what they would. Perry. The man seemed to consume a portion of Danae's life, one that plagued every heart in the world: love. Personally, he knew very little about love because he never experienced such a thing. So, all he could do was listen and offer what words he could and hope they sounded somewhat plausible. ``It seems to me, by how much you speak of him, that a part of you continues to.`` He said, pulling his mug of tea closer. ``If he is trouble as you say, then perhaps it would be best and safer for you to get away from it. I once knew a man, an honest man, who had a herd of sheep. Every night, his neighbour would take one sheep from his flock and when the herder asked him why he took it, the neighbor always gave him the same excuse. Every night, the herder's flock became smaller and smaller, while his neighbour's continued to grow and prosper, yet, the herder did nothing about it.`` The Arab said, lifting dark eyes to her lighter ones. ``Perhaps now it is time for you to do something about this trouble. You know Perry better than I ever could, the solution is there.`` But Perry harm Ealora and Shaden? A thick brow arched. ``I would say, if you know what Perry will do, and it will cause harm to another...then only you have the power to protect them.``
Danae Galanos = ``That reason is always because there is something in it for him... selfishly.`` Boy had her view on the man changed and quickly at that. ``I want to avoid him because ... well.. the sight of him makes me sick to my stomach. Yet... I need to know where he's at and what he's doing.... to help protect them.`` Her head canted once more and brows furrowed with irritation. ``Aman..`` She said, first time she had ever addressed him as such. ``I have tried to avoid him..`` The woman claimed exhaustngly as her fork was released. Both arms stretched out over the width of the table, palms up as if ready to give up. ``But every time I think I've succeeded or am doing good... he shows up.`` She sighed, her eyes closed as one hand came to let the palm rest against her forehead, covering part of her face. ``I honestly do not know what else to do. I'm so tired...``
Ama-ud-Din = A selfish man was never good to be around, for one day their selfish deeds would not only harm him, but others around him, victims to someone else' negligence. And so, when she mentioned Perry being selfish, Aman-ud-Din could not help but frown at that. Watching her face, Aman-ud-Din could see the inner struggle the woman was facing, and he had a deep sympathy for her. He wished that there was more he could do for her, but alas, he could not, only offer comfort and words, which was all he could. Silently, he listened to her, watched her, and as one hand moved to her face, Aman-ud-Din reached a hand out to her still extended one, and placed his palm over hers. ``Then, I suggest you cease to seek him out. Do not go looking for trouble, as you can see, it always seems to have the ability and senses to find you. But, I fear that his selfishness will be the end of you, Danae. How then would you help others around you? Sometimes, it is best to let the storm come to you, where you have better ground and advantage, instead of traveling to unknown lands and elements to seek it. Do what your heart and head tell you to do, Danae, and believe in it and yourself.`` And his hand gave hers a light squeeze.
Danae Galanos = An inner struggle it was indeed. Danae felt as if everywhere she turned, it looked to be a way out but it always then seem to become a dead end. As the one hand remained over her face, the other was on the table still. She then felt the hand of Aman-ud-Din upon it. Her hand over her face slid just enough to uncover her eyes. She looked to their hands, stared a moment and then lifted her cool blue eyes to his darker ones while listening to his words. Again, he was right, but the problem was whether she went after Perry, or not... he'd soon be near. So she was damned if she did and damned if she didn't. At the squeeze of his hand to hers, her eyes fell on them again and she nodded, slowly... very slowly. ``If it were that simple... I fear that what my mind tells me and my heart tells me are two different things.`` Which was true, but what Danae was also having trouble with, was admitting to herself that she still cared for the man. Regardless how self destructing that could be.
Aman-ud-Din = Aman-ud-Din did not have all the answers when it came to Perry or her situation, but he tried to help her, offered what he could, but ultimately, no matter what he said, Danae was the only one who could hold the answers and put those words to action. Aman-ud-Din was little help when it came to advice of the heart when it involved love on this level. ``Nothing in life is ever simple, Danae. If it was, what then would we be proud of?`` He offered a soft smile to her before continuing. ``If the heart and mind can never agree, and this man is as much trouble and danger as you say, then perhaps it is time to listen to the mind, for it does tend to think more logically than our hearts. Sometimes, our hearts blind us to the truth, which can be hard to accept...or we simply do not want to. But, I say this as complete observation, my words are not Gospel. Only you can make the choice,`` he added.
Danae Galanos = Danae didn't expect him nor anyone else to have all the answers. However, advice was always good to receive when from the right person and so she felt Aman-ud-Din was in fact that person. The advice was good and the comfort nice. It wasn't often this woman allowed others to do such a thing. Call her hard headed or stubborn, but she was the independent type and didn't like the idea of people viewing her as weak. That was the one and only thing this Greek warrior worried about when it came to the opinion of others. At the words of Aman-ud-Din, Danae looked to him and held eye contact for the duration of his advice. Once he finished, she nodded, then gave her own soft smile. Yes, it was a smile, but a small one and their was a hint of sadness behind it still. However, once looking to their hands again, it reappeared and this one was not at all fake in any sense. ``I'm glad that I've come to know you Aman-ud-Din.`` She said as her cool blue eyes of ice lifted to again meet his darker ones.
Aman-ud-Din = And that seemed to be a reoccurring trait here on the isle: stubbornness. Many of the people that he knew had an abundance of it. And, while it was no bad thing to have some determination and strong mind and will, too much could become toxic. Aman-ud-Din wished that there was more he could do for Danae, he really did, because he did not enjoy seeing a friend in distress or conflicted. But at least she had not lost the will or power to smile, Aman-ud-Din was glad to see that. His large hand patted her smaller hand, the tattoo symbol on the back of his hand visible. ``And I am glad I have come to know you, Danae. There are not many with a will as strong as yours. Let no one take that strength from you.``
Danae Galanos = She would again nod, listening to his words of encouragement and the compliment. ``Aman, you are very kind... thank you.`` She said as her other hand would come and overlap his that was on top of her other. She gave his a gentle squeeze. Having noticed the symbol on it, she often wondered what it as well as the others meant. Perhaps she would soon ask and learn more about him and his heritage. She found him a very interesting man, one whom she could carry a decent conversation with on things besides training, skills, and weapons.
Danae Galanos = The Greek woman would be found already within the Inn. Her weapons all against a nearby wall with the exception of her dagger and katar. She was sitting at a booth like table one side with the usual chairs, the other with a bench. Behind her, a partial wall for privacy.
