Ealora: There was no ifs, ands or buts. Not that Maahes complained but they stayed in town while Shaden was sick. First night at the Gilded Lily and the next within the rose. Seen by two healers and Ealora had no idea what was wrong with her sister though yes she did have her suspicions. What was there to do while staying in town? Walk...shop...think. Every time she had an attack, a gripping doubt, Maahes had seemed to appear and sooth it without ever knowing what was going on...what was in her head. It was just within a look, a touch...a kiss that broke her doubts about what was going on behind her back...or not going on as she reasoned each time. Still it was hard to let go, not because she did not trust her husband, it was because she loved him so much...she didn't think she deserved it. Didn't believe it would last. What did she do that day? The same she had done the day before and the day before that, she walked the streets in the morning, rode in the afternoon pushing horse and rider to tbe brink and in the coming dusk she retired to walk more around town. Each time brought her closer to the docks and closer to pulling away from them. She had never been afraid of the sea, never afraid of her crew or her ship..but something held her back. Memories. The bruises and lashes had faded, her nose had healed and her wrist was all most back to normal..but the memories would not fade. The nightmares had stopped, safe at home, assured of her protection. They had ceased as quickly as they had started but it did not mean the encounter was not always on her mind. She couldn't go to the docks, but she could go the seaside, the coming waves lulled a peace in her that could not be found anywhere else and boots were removed as her feet dug into the sand, her body leaning forward to clasp her knees as her head dipped to rest chin upon her arms. Lids slid closed over her eyes, washing away the scene of white caps kissing land to hear the beat of the hearts ocean. Peace..just complete peace.*
Pembroke: "With a bounty on your head you should not be alone.. much less... in this area Malory " his voice was rough and timbred... had he been following her thru the maze of cobbled streets and docks.. perhaps since catching sight of her he had...or perhaps it was chance that he too was staring out onto an ocean.. where his ship no longer sat at anchor.. he stood some paces off.. not close enough to cause her threat.. knowing she was probably still.. rather less than fond of most males in the world... " You seemed to be.. almost healed.. hows the nose" he tapped the side of his own nose.. still bruised.. and matching her broken one.. darkened splotches still marred his sea warmed face... but he seemed whole enough.. from the outside(D)
Ealora: "There is a lot of places I should not be...a lot of places I still can not go..I do not want this place to be among them..Pembroke"Her head turned as she spoke, laying her cheek upon her arm and lids sliding open to regard the figure near her own. With the full moon in the sky, she could make out his form and the shadows of his face where the moon caught it. A slow smile curled her lips before her head lifted and she released her knees to lean her palms back into the sand. "Healed..."Her wrist panged, reminding her that it was not completely sound yet and she shifted to lean her elbows instead against the sand. "How is your own wounds? Healing I hope.."Her head jerked to the sand beside her, beckoning him to join her.*
Pembroke: He approached her slowly and then settled a few feet away.. stiffly coming to rest, there were still.. places that were sore.. and healing " Ship Shape.." he grunted as he shifted to a better position... " Things well with your husband...?" while incarcerated courtesey of her ... husband he had... wondered... how she faired.. if the blackmoor treated his wife .. the way he treated the man that brought her home.. then he had feared for her well being.. it was not his place to judge.. if she wanted a savage heathern that could not... abide by normal curtsey and honor it was on her... and yet.. he had worried...running his hand beneath the sand he lifted it.. letting it sift from his palm before returning his gaze to the darkened sea...(d)
Ealora: A small hum of a chuckle escaped her lips"Sound a bit rusty still to me Pemmy." Her head turned again to take in the sight of him. She felt guilt for what had been done to him though she hadn't inflicted the damage, she had been the cause of it. "I'm sorry August..I should of stuck up for you.." Spoken quietly before her head turned to watch the whitecaps rolling in once more. "Things are well..." Despite the rumors my husband is sleeping with my sister..and my worries its true...Couldn't bring herself to say it, but she sure did think it. "Where have you been anyways? Woulda thought you to come after Maahes for throwing you in jail..though I'm quite glad you didn't." Her fingers curled into the sand, drawing inadement and worthless little squiggly lines within the soft earth. "He was sorry for it too...though he'll never admit it. Heard he sent you a pentice for it though. Hope the coin went to good use."*
Pembroke: The sound he made was of a snorting grump.. " I doubt he worried over me.. tis done now.. though.. and I would not have made things worse for you..." a sea shell was lifted from the sand and stared at before it was flipped away callously.... " You owe me no apology.. you did what you had to.. a womans place is never easy with a man like that " he disapproved of her choice in husbands that was evident enough.. " but you seem to carry the weight of the world still on your shoulders..." he had avoided the where and what he'd been up to.. it wasn't for.. public consumption.. at the moment.(d)
Ealora: "He did...he said so, he acts before he thinks...he always has."A small hum of a chuckle left her lips again. Yes she loved her husband dearly, despite his bullish and assholish attitude. It was different with her, it was still there but he was a kitten with her, purring and gentle. No one would ever understand it and she couldn't say anything that would. "I always carry the weight of my deeds on my shoulders. It is my personal hell till I get there after death." Wiggling in the sand, she sat up and let out a snort of a laugh. "My place as a wife you mean? My being a woman has nothing to do with it, all horseshyte. I am his wife...his lady but in no way does he own me..."Her hands dusted off against each other as she let out a sigh. "I owe you an apology..I gave you my word I would repay you for what you did for me..I still will."*
Pembroke: "nothing is needed Mallory I did not follow you because I expected some boon.. I did not rescue you becasue I expect payment.. it was simple decency.. " he looked away... " It's apperant you havn't been used to the concept.." he rose annoyed with her..that she would think he needed apoligies or repayment.. bones creaking stifly as he stood.. " You should stay away from your sisters place.. she is a person of Intrest to the English Lord.. Maurbury... you don't want to get cuaght up in that " hands laced behind his back... standing resolutly looking out to sea... he seemed made of stone...(d)
Ealora: "Probably not used to kindness and decency no but had it been because of boon or promises that you did come after me..you can be sure I would of made no attempt to repay you or promise to have your back." With a groan of irritation, she clamped her hand around and tossed it at his torso. "Seems you don't know the meaning of friendship...or promises friends can make without incased meanings behind them." She stopped then, her irritation turning to one of shock and surprise as she turned in the sand and tilted her head back to look at him. "How do you know that...about Shaden?"*
Pembroke: whatever she tossed at him thunked into his back, causeing him to winee , he lash marks had not had as long as hers to heal.. a twich in his jaw was the only outward sign she had met her target.. " Madame Aramoire has made her bed and now must lie in it.. however you do not need to share her fate.. " he still did not face her " I've said to much already.. but... as you say.. my friendship with you would not allow it to go unsaid " He wouln't turn and look at her.. because to do that would inspire treason...to tell her what terrible things were brewing in the blue castle for those of the Isle..(d)
Ealora: She could not get up quickly, the sand was to soft, her wrist to sore to allow her the quick movement but she did get up, with a groan and slowly righted herself completely. "Pembroke what have you done?" Honeyed voice was thick with concern and worry, both for him and for Shaden. Moving forward, she grasped his arm and tugged him to look at her. "I admire our friendship Pembroke...more then you know..but please tell me you have not betrayed me...or my family..I do not take betrayal well.."*
Pembroke: "I have not betrayed you or anyone you love... it is a matter of war between your People and Mine.. I only know.. " he turned as she grasp him.. his hands falling onto her shoulders lighlty, oceanic eyes the color of the sea they both loved softened as his fingers touched her gently " I only know that Maurbury intends... to bring her to trial.. what for... I dont' know.. " the look on his face spoke volumes.. he was just warning her... " He is intent.. nothing will.. save her.. but you ... you should go back to your valley.. distance yourself.. from her " a hand lifted to brush back a tendril of russet hair the wind played havoc with.. " I did not save you to see you fall again so quickly"(d)
Ealora: "My people...and yours? Pembroke your in Skye..Scotland..Do you not see we are all the same? Love our home the same...live the same..the only thing to come from this war is unneeded bloodshed." Her chin tilted upward, celadon meeting eyes of the sea. "I will not that happen to her...even if it means my life..she is my family..she will never walk a path I can not follow. I am sorry Pembroke, if it is in Gods will...then you will have rescued me only to see my fall again..I bare my friends..my family above my own life. I always have. If you should find out why he plans to bring her to trial...for what..I hope you will tell me...for I will kill in order to get it...in order to save my sister."*
Maahes: Of all God's creations it was sad Maahes could always respect. Be it of the beach or of the desert he found the power of illusion so easy to learn. In the baited heat of the Sahara, one could be lost for days, but here on the beach it was easy to be found. The ocean only went so far, and could not hide the tracks he knew all too well. Even the steps of the draft horse could be lost with the rush of the waves. "The only reason you saved her the first time," His voice boomed from atop the dark beast in all his painted colors of Lord General, "Was because I was not there." Full thick lips were flat against a clenched jaw, as Maahes looked very much the part of his title. If wars could be won by intimidation alone, this man could defeat any enemy who dare face him. "I assure you Captain, it will not happen again." Eyes parted with his anger from the man, to his wife and back. "Do not worry my wife with stories of such things, until her trail is set in stone." Meaning there were many things he hadn't told Ealora, but as always he did not want to worry her. "And when I meant safe passage through Skye, I meant only on events of great importance If that is your reason, Sir I suggest you take your leave." The horse danced for a moment in place as the weight of his legs were shifted, but Maahes quickly corrected, eyes however never ONCE leaving Pembroke. (d
Pembroke: "stubborn stupid woman " he cursed her as he let his hold on her go " You are a witch.. I betray my country in telling you this to have you throw it back in my face.." he was irritated beyond belife with her, the urge to pick her up and shake her till her teeth rattled.. and then.. he heard the booming voice of the heathern savage.. a slow turn had him facing the man upon the work horse.. fresh from the fields no doubt.. both of them " You seemed to have a way of loosing your wife.. perhaps you should take her back to the valley and keep her there " he scowled at the General.. if it pissed Malory off so be it as long as she was out of Turas Lan.. and yes he was talking about her like she was a little housewife.. so what.. he would not endure her scolding tounge and temper this night.. her husband would.. " I have diplomatic reasons for being in Skye... I'm attached to Lord Maurbury's contingent now General... I will be staying till Lord Maurbury sails away home.. "(d)
Ealora: "From the roots my hair to the tips of my toes.."She retorted as her body turned when Maahes spoke, now angled between both men. Her eyes rose to meet her husbands and then back at Pembroke. Oh hell nah! Her rage flamed, heating every blood vessel within her body till it reached celadon colored eyes. "Damn you, I am not some prized item and you will not speak of me like I am one." More then half the island new of Lord Maurbery and his evil intent. His intent might of been to conquer the island on whole, but divide it was what he was trying to do at present. Gather his followers to do his bidding. She couldn't believe her ears, they itched and burned with the words he spoke. He had indeed risked much in telling her as much as he had, why even bother if he was going to join that blackhearted...git..Her hand twitched, she wanted to smack the hell out of him, smack that stupidity right out of him. She did perhaps the second most surprising thing she had ever done, she moved back, away from him and the physical hurt she wanted to lay on him. Slowly back one step and then another to she met her husbands horse. Her hand raised and lay upon her husbands thigh as she turned her head up to meet his gaze. "Hello my husband.."She gently purred up to him although this panther was inwardly growling in rage.*
Maahes: "Then we are enemies." Oh, how that rage of fire came alive with a twisted little smirk and in the glowing embers of his eyes. "If I killed you it would start a war." He breathed, but it had been all he had thought about. Maahes knew the fine lines between civil and real wars, that the English wanted this land and did everything in their power to 'join' forces with Skye. Lord Maurbury was a rook in the English army, and now Pembroke was his pawn. No Maahes had not been in the fields, and was still dressed in noble attire. Yet the colors of the lands had faded under the mud covered man whose day was spent raising an army to defeat what was to come. "Ealora goes where she pleases, we'll be staying in town until she is ready to go. Do not mistake my love for her as control. You of all people should know you cannot capture the wind, Captain." Not once did his body move, his back straight chest raising and falling only with his breath. Ealora's words would only get the up turned palm of his hand as he would not dare take his eyes of Pembroke now. He was to help her on the horse if she would receive it. (d
Pembroke: Stupidity was a trait of the people of Skye if he were to judge by the Witch before him who could not heed a warning and the puffing and preening General who did not see beyond his own yearning for blood and his pride.. " Take the words as they were meant Mallory.. as concern for you.. and yours" sea blue eyes almost seemed to laugh at the General.. as he watched the man played like a fiddle.. by the wills and wants of his wife.. instead of taking her to safety even against her will.. well it was settled in his brain then.. the general was girl-thingy whipped.. no doubt in his mind.. the bigger they are the harder they fall.. it would seem.. he almost felt sorry for the brute.. for both of them.as they were to bullheaded and assinine to see an friendly gesture of concern.. " No need to escort me Back to the Castle... I know.. my way well enough " he shot them a grin full of English Charm... better they hate him and leave the area than stay..(d)
Ealora: "I will Pembroke..as you will heed mine, that I will do anything to protect what is mine.."Celadon eyes slid to the form of her friend...yes he was still her friend. He had saved her life and she could not easily toss that off. She owed him a debt, by her own words and she was never one to break a promise. Unless he betrayed her and he had said he would not...did not. It was hard to see Pembroke as an enemy, even the first time they met she had her doubts. Then again, she was willing to admit she was never a good judge of character. There was also one motto though, keep your friends close and your enemies closer. She was always on a balance beam or at least it felt that way. On one hand she could see his reasoning, Maubery was England..Pembroke was English, he was in a sense England but did he not see the danger in the path he was taking. "Be careful Pembroke...I fear for the path you are on.."Her fingers curled against her husbands thigh. No she wasn't going to get on the horses back with him..poor animal would break in two but she wanted him to know she was not going anywhere. She felt pride in his words of her. That he spoken openly of loving her...of not controlling her. *
Maahes: He was not THAT heavy, sheesh! If she was not going to get on then he would get down. On the opposite side from where they stood so that he may hide his wince, or hear the air that was sucked in through his breath. Maahes never rode a horse, but Maahes also never lost at one of his own games. Was all part of the training right? Just happened today he was off his game, and found himself victim to a sprained ankle. However, he would hide it well, as his steps of his normal; Maahes always limped a bit anyway right? Motion was pain with day in and day out of work. "He knows what he is doing Ealora. Do not worry for that man." (d
Pembroke: August had more hen enough of the pair of them shaking his head he brushed past the Pirate Queen headed toward the docks past the Beahemoth of a savage.., Maahes was a big Man but Pembroke was not small in stature either.. at 6 '2 230 he was sturdy and barrel chested.. an strong as an ox from years aboard a ship.. and that was when it happened, without warning a hard right hook to the jaw.. of the General. sucker punched.. as he watched him fall to the sand he looked down at him " I owed you that one General.. we are even now " he looked back at Ealora... and nodded " Evening.. Captain "(d)
Ealora: Her head cokeed to the side, brows knitting together in concern. Maahes was pained. He hid his walk well but hell, he heard her thoughts just as she heard his. She could tell he was keeping in pain. What had happened? Her gaze turned from him to Pembroke as he pushed back, just as her mouth opened he struck...her husband. A small gasp left her lips and she flinched as fist met face and down went her husband. Before she had any time to realize what she was doing, she shoved her hands into Pembroke's chest. "Damn you, what the hell are you doing?!" Another shove before she was turning and kneeling beside Maahes to help him up. "Maahes are you all right?"*
Maahes: Perhaps it was just the day he was having..the rain..the barrel this morning...the twisted foot ..untied shoes...the cold..finding his wife with the captain..hearing he was part of the English..and now this! All of the rage he could pull together would only get one thing...laughter. Maahes laughed from deep inside his chest, as he had flat out reached his breaking point. The deep rumble would be proof, as he pushed away from Ealora and just pressed back in the sand. Raising up with the aid of Ealora tears ran down his cheeks from the chuckle, a rush of 'was that it?' This was over, leaning against his wife he smiled. "Don't worry, love. I know when to be a man and walk away." He would let her help him up, wrapping his arm around her should he used her as a crutch his foot really killing him now, but would pass soon. "We'll never be even, Pembroke." Bite your tongue, bite your tongue. "I'll always have one thing over you." His hand tightened around Ealora's shoulders and then reached out for the horse's reins. Yeap, he needed that horse. "Come let us go see your sister yes? The air smells like an English pig." (d
Pembroke: He took the two shoves to his chest without wince, only the tightening of the jaw as he watched her kneel and tend to her husband.. " Enjoy your Evening.. " and then he dissipeared into the descending mist.. whisteling a tune.. his hand hurt like hell now from flattening the savage.. but he felt sastified deep down in his core.. damm that had felt good... he chuckled at the last words of the General.. interupting his whisteling.. before it began again.. thinking yeah well Keeping her is the real... trail of fire.. he didn't envy the man that.. at all (d)
Ealora: Her eyebrows knitted together in both frustration and confusion. He was laughing? What the hell was this? Grasping his arm, she rose as he did, grunting with the effort, no he wasn't THAT big but big enough for her that it was a difficulty especially when her wrist screamed with pain. Her arms encased his waist as his hand went around her shoulder. Just bare it, she told herself as her gaze followed Pembroke retreat and she was truly proud of her husband then. Not beating the man to a pulp as he was apt to do at any other time. He truly was a beast but she loved that about him too. A heavy sigh of frustration left her lips but she let it go...as he had."Yes lets go see Shaden...up on the horse you get."She reached for the reins with one hand, the other smoothing over the horses nose to sooth the beast from any nervous nature from raised emotions of the humans.*
Maahes: Oh it was coming, but with politics he knew this much. Pembroke's Lord was important, and a war would start should he look upon the lands with distaste. If Pembroke returned with a broken nose, he would no doubt say what a savage Maahes was, and this was the choice his Duchess made. Bess put Maahes in such a position to keep her country alive, not see it fall. "You'll have to ride behind me." He spoke, words slurred as suddenly he felt really tired. Yeap, he was about to pass out. Rush of anger, rush of laughter...the rush of Pembroke' s fist. That and he gave his lunch to one of the squires today that he felt was too skinny, it was all he could do to get atop the horse. (d
