Anulia- Finger tips grazed the thick bark of the oak tree as she passed by it, leaning her head slightly back to see how it reached for the sky above with it's branches and leaves of so many colors that earth graced it with. Pausing in her steps, her soft and small palm flattened against the bark, feeling it bite gently into her flesh as she inhaled the crisp air of the season and glanced over her shoulder to smile softly at Roac. What place could be more private then here, among the creatures of old and some of new? Anulia found peace here, balance and solitude in the best way, so it was her plan to bring the new friend here with her so that perhaps he could feel the same. Beyond the forest' opening and entrance, Komor; Anulia's elephant companion; waited for them as he grazed the sweet grass and found peace in his own moments of being a free beast. Many had never seen such a creature until Anulia had returned here from her travels. Her soft voice reached out, gentle as a breeze that would caress the skin. `` This place always brings me peace. The town folk, do not come here often as if they have forgotten that the trees give them shelter even after they were killed for it. There is no better place for secrets. ``
Roac- He had read of elephants in his time at the monastery, but nothing could have prepared him for the serene majesty of them in truth. It was more than the size, and more than their strange and wonderful appearance, it was the gentle powerful nature of them. It awed him. After a time though, he became accustomed to the creature as they had journeyed to the forest, but he was nonetheless still impressed. They had stepped in under the canopy of the sprawling trees and almost immediately Roac could sense the harmony, like and underlying musical note that hummed through all the creatures beneath the passive gaze of the trees, connecting one and all. Deft fingers reached forth and touched out at the young and the old alike as he passed, and a slow smile turned up the corners of his mouth. "I can see why you find peace here, nature runs it's course, and the natural balance holds sway. For now, at least." In recent time forestry had grown from a necessity to an industry, and the world's forests suffered for it. It was a sad truth, but humans, as per their nature devoured, leaving a barren wake. He could feel, though he knew not how, that they were alone, but for the forest and its denizens.
Anulia- Nature was Anulia's mother, for the human one had long since became a faded memory in her mind. Having spent so many years moving from one place to another, the smaller things were forgotten, but perhaps that was best in times like these. Those full lips only pulled back more to show her well cared for teeth; a large contrast to her skin; as she heard his husky voice speak out in agreement. `` I believed it would be a good place for you and I to speak, for you had requested a place that held few people. You and I are the only people here, so stories we may tell will only be listened to by the animals and trees. `` Looking back to the oak, she gave it a loving pat before moving on so that the dark green cloak trailed along the soil, leaves and fallen branches like a caress as warm, brown breeches covered her muscular legs while a white tunic covered her upper body. A dress held no place in a walk such as this. `` Will you tell me more about the fabric upon your wrist. Do they keep secrets for you? `` Anulia looked at her own wrist, bound by thick leather wrappings before she looked back to him, turning her body to face him as she stood tree which held smooth bark instead of the rough. Within the branches, leaves rustled as creatures ran along them in play, escape or a journey from one area to another.
Roac- His eyes held her gaze a while as she asked of his wrists. His secrets meant his life. His beliefs were in opposition to the ruling monotheistic religions. Slowly he unbuttoned his cuffs, all the while holding her gaze. Once his sleeves had been rolled up to the elbow, it seemed that he had come to a decision, with the hope it was the right one. "They do not hold my secret, they are my secret. But I cannot explain further until I explain to you who, and what I am." With that, he slid to the soft, moss covered ground, his legs folding beneath him as he unslung the leather pack that hung across his shoulders. He began to rummage around inside it, and pulled a thick glass bottle from it, filled with a peachy hued liquid. He followed that by a round loaf of honey bread wrapped in white linen. These he laid out on the forest floor, before gesturing to the ground before him. " Come, sit, we will eat, drink and talk. I find words flow easier that way."
Anulia- Chocolate eyes remained on his face until movement was caught and they shifted towards his longer fingers as they began to undo his cuffs and show once more, the colors about his wrist, trapped in silken material. Who and what he was? Anulia was fascinated, as she was with most people she met. The chance to learn something new, some other culture, some other way to live seemed to be a growing need for her. Moving back towards him, she watched with a curious as he lowered the bag to the floor and began removing items from it. Oh! She should have brought some food as well and felt nervous smile creep over her features as she had forgotten to pack such items. `` I think that is a wonderful plan. I should have brought my sweet bread with me. It is something many love! `` The moment of cheer in her voice never seemed to fade, only calm just a bit with the different topics or approaches. Anulia was not so graceful as she lowered her form towards the moss like an eager child about to be told a story. `` If it would help, I would speak first to provide comfort. Our reasons would no doubt be different, but then you would not have to worry about feeling so.. naked? Is this the word. I think so..naked. Yes. ``
Roac- "It is not so much nakedness, Anulia, more a matter of trust. But I feel that I can trust you, as there is something about your nature that prevents me from suspecting you. That may well be my downfall, but so be it." He chuckled and grinned a little, his fingers unwrapping the loaf of honey bread, before breaking a small piece off and popping it in his mouth. He chewed, savoring the sweet taste and moist texture, before swallowing. "Don't worry, I brought for us both. You can treat me to your sweet bread next time." Assuming there would be a next time, if she didn't go running crying heresy, and he didn't end up with a rope about his neck. "So let me start at the start, and without any misconceptions. I do not believe in God, or any god. I believe that all the almighty power in our universe sits within us, and in the... Forces that connect us all." His eyes remained upon her own yet again, searching for her reaction.
Anulia- Did you not trust someone when you became nude in front of them? Many people here, were so appalled by nudity, that Anulia found she had to try harder to not slip up and expose so much flesh. It was hard, after coming from the jungle where it was so hot, that having clothing would bother the skin. Trust... Anulia herself perhaps trusted more then she should, but what was life without someone to share those things with? The way he spoke was different, yet she could follow easily enough. Chocolate eyes shifted towards his fingers as he broke off a piece of bread and pulled that now smaller bit to his mouth where she watched him chew and swallow before her attention was pulled back to his eyes as he spoke. Eyes that seemed sincere and gentle even when his features were slightly more sharp in certain places. Moving her smaller hands in a bowl like shape, she pushed them forward from her body towards him, silently asking him to break her off a small piece as her eyes remained on his. With his following words, Anulia's face was unchanging at first, then it slipped into thoughtful as she rolled the new way and view of life around. `` You believe, that we create our own paths and the choices we make, will be what leads us one way, or another? `` Very philosophical of Anulia to speak, when not but a year ago, she could barely speak this language. `` Did you believe in a God once in your life and then abandoned the thought of it or were shown another way? I am currently learning of Christian God, but.. it confuses me. ``
Roac- His fingers reached down and broke off for her a generous chunk of the bread, and placed it into her cupped, waiting hands. "I was raised a Christian, taught to believe it as a truth unquestionable, taught that it simply was. As I grew though I did begin to question. Question everything. Question why." Roac had picked up the glass bottle, and fingertips had pulled the cork from it's mouth with a small *pop*, before he drank a small mouthful of it, a fruit juice. Replacing the cork he nestled it down beside the bread. "Do help yourself." He cleared his throat and continued. "So I left my home, looking for answers, and found them, with hidden men who taught me of myself, and of all the world and it's creatures. You see, we believe that there is an invisible web that connects everything in the world, even the world itself. You, me, these trees, the wood pigeons up in that branch, the deer past that thicket." With each example he gestured toward his example.
Anulia- The moment the bread touched her palms, her smaller fingers curled around the piece like a flower shutting itself up for the night, while she pulled her arms back and with a surprising hunger, started to pluck pieces off and shove them into her mouth with more of a rush. All the while eyes remained on him, waiting for him to spin his tale of life to her, a stranger in many ways and yet a growing friend. It was funny how things seemed to work out that way. Between her chewing and food being placed in her mouth, she gave a soft ' thank you' and listened fully to his story. Her eyes never wondered from his face, unless they moved to his hands in which case they would always return. Her bit of bread had been finished in no time, right about the time he had started to tell her of hidden men and the web of life. With his gestures, she followed to look around and when her face returned to look at his own, she was beaming with a smile. `` These are the things I have known all my life. Everything is living and breaths, what we do affects another in some small shape or form. I am not sure, if I believe I am in full control of what will happen. If that is how it truly is, then I am to blame for my misfortunes. `` Even when speaking of them, her smile did not die, merely faded. `` I was born without a religion, without a way of thinking beyond what we were told. Only battles and slavery. Then when I was born again, I learned of the jungle as the mother and weather as the father. Now here, I learn of a God that should be felt, not seen, heard but not touched. How do you not get confused with being shown two different ways? How do you know what is truth and what is false? I do.. not say this to speak on what you say as false, just to understand your views better. ``
Roac- He smiled warmly, her own story piquing his interest, but he would not attempt to force it from her, for she would tell him in her own time if she so wished. "There is always a time of confusion, when you are shown two ways, one that travels in a direction opposite to one another. It is how we read the signs that lead us to the path we walk. I have learned of myself, that there are things that I can do, by understanding and recognizing the truth of myself, that many men would fear to. I can endure pain beyond what many could, as I understand the pain, why it is and how I can change how I react to it. But I will stay away from the intricacies for now. What it comes down to, is a balance. Harmony. Peace. This is why my wrists are bound, as I reminder that I, as any creature can give and can take. But finding the balance between the two is where the heart of the matter lies. " He lifted his left hand, wrist bound in blue. "This is the hand that can give. For this I learned the art of healing men, how to stitch a wound, treat an infection." He then raised his right hand, bound in red. "This is the hand that can take. For this, I learned how to strike a man just so, that he might sleep for a week, break a bone, or stop the beating of his heart." He then lowered both hand to his lap, and opened them like a book. "And with both hands, I can read, write and learn. It is all of the balance. Greedy men take too much, and they upset the balance, forcing other to give more than they have. This is not harmony. I believe that creation, life and peace, lie in the balance between the two. My colours are a reminder of this." And so he ended, and reached again for the honey bread, and ripped a sizeable piece from it, biting off half of it.
Roac- He had read of elephants in his time at the monastery, but nothing could have prepared him for the serene majesty of them in truth. It was more than the size, and more than their strange and wonderful appearance, it was the gentle powerful nature of them. It awed him.
