Eirian: The estate that belonged to the Apollius family wasn't bad, but it wasn' t full of life either. The furniture had been drapped in sheets, the windows drawn against the light as if to keep the fickle climate of Avaria from penetrating through the glass. A mist-laden, thick fog moistened the windows enough for even the inside to perspire so that the Lady Apollius could draw a circle with her finger. One circle to mark the shape with beginning and noend; a life with no seams of start or finish to complicate the path. Now, the home was open to the world. The gardens were coming to life with the scent of blooms despite the lateness of the year, servants bustled around, and the sounds of a child filled the halls. So it was outside. Inside of the mind of one resident, there was more, and that was why she had asked Selene to come and see her today. To be forthright, to be honest. To lay a secret out to one who kept them (D)
Selene: Selene had received the missive requesting her presence before Lady Apollius earlier that morning. There was no doubting that the summoning sparked her curiousity, though in all honesty, the witch had a fairly good idea what it was in reference to. She often knew things about people they kept secreted .. and even some things that were unknown to themselves. At times it was a heavy burden to bear, though she had grown so accustomed to its weight, she supposed if it were ever to leave her entirely, the world would have been strange and foreign to her. There had been times in her life she had wished to simply be normal; to be able to live and breathe like everyone else, blissfully ignorant to the undercurrents of emotions and motivations that were also present in Selene's mind. Those thoughts had kept her mind occupied on the short journey to the Apollius estate through the foggy and misty morning. A dark cloak circled around her shoulder, though it wasn't quite cold to warrant it, it did keep her physique veiled .. one that was blossoming with motherhood more and more each passing day. Arriving at the estate, Selene showed her summons and waited to be shown in.
Eirian: Secrets were words and words are meant to be spoken. No matter the pitch, tone, or clarity of them there will always be those who can hear what no one thinks will ever be uttered. If Eirian heard one of Selene's thoughts then it only a matter of placing the time that Selene had heard Eirian. In light of that, a paper summons seemed almost laughable but it was best not to project what others could hear. The stake may not be a thing to avoid in this, the Steward's reign. A Christian woman knew the stance of the church, the clergy, and the alleged biblical verse that claimed thou shalt not suffer a witch to live.. Neither the rosary in her hands nor the sapphire cross at her throat were defense against roused rabble who would riot if they knew. Talion had enough to worry about. At the door, the guard looked over the sumomns and referred Selene to the maid, "This way, miss," she said "M'lady will be just here. The Little Lady Hope is with her, there." The maid lead her down the hall and opened the doors to the nursery where mother sat with child in her arms watching the window until something more was to be seen. Turning about blue eye to blue eyes would meet, a silent smile in greeting (d)
Selene: Selene waited in silence as the guard took her summons and after a brief once over, he allowed her passage through the door a few moments later with the maid's arrival. A curt nod of her head was given to both the guard the maid, listening to the woman's cheerful prattling all of the way through the house to where the Lady of the manor waited. Details and history were remarked, architectural specialties pointed out as they went. All the while Selene could hear the woman's mind buzzing with nervousness and a small tainting of fear at being in the rumored witch's presence. A faint grin even twitched briefly over Selene's lips. People were afraid of those things were most ignorant of. She said nothing but kindly murmured thanks when the maid left her at the open doorway to the nursery. The witch stepped inside, blue eyes making a small sweep over the room before landing on the Lady and Hope. She took a few more steps into the room before halting, a small smile and nod offered in return. -d-
Eirian: "Thank you for coming today, Selene. Please," She offered a seat beside her, where a table was between them. Space was short - bridged by more than breath and substance of their bodies, but by this. I know you can hear me, and I can hear you. The mind spoke where lipst didn't move, bouncing the baby softly, it continued, You could hear me all the way here..soSo you could hear me that day I heard you speak to my husband. Sapphire; trapped in winter's day laced with silver ice. Her eyes. Fallen on Selene now, she nodded to Hope. She can hear us to. Hope. The baby lifted her head, reaching out for mother's hair. (d)
Selene: Selene nodded slowly and moved toward the offered chair and sank down into it with much relief even if the act itself was growing more difficult. Pale blue eyes regard the other woman as she spoke, the words resounding in her head with the lack of vocal speech. While it was true that Selene would sense what was in most people's minds and hearts, the same was not always true for herself. With so many emotions of others always streaming through her like a catalyst, only the ones she allowed to be heard could be heard by another. I could. Responded in likewise fashion, her eyes glancing down to baby Hope .. feeling briefly the weight of Tommy's babies in her arms, as much a mother to them as Tommy herself.
Eirian Would you like to hold her? She is something of a greedy small thing for attention.. Brown eyes of the babe looked at Selene, her face in a smile as she reached her arms up, laughing as youth unhibited often did. Blue lay nestled like a nova in the cosmos at the center of the orbs. "Hope Olywn, are you tryin to charm another?" She kissed her forehead and smiled to Selene, "She is the world for me, I swear, I do not know how it turned until she came. I heard that Tommasina gave birth, and you, too, are with child. How are the both of you?" (d)
Selene Selene hesitated with the offer to hold Hope. It was not that she didn't like the baby or think she's wasn't wonderfully beautiful as all babies were. Selene was simply very cautious about who she associated herself. Especially in times like this where darker, more sinsister powers ruled dominantly. Swallowing slowly, she allowed a small smile to Eirian's comment about the world and how it had only begun existing with the arrival with her daughter. Her arms would finally extend to take the baby Hope into her arms, though a glance of blues was offered to her mother when she asked of Tommy and herself. Her labor was early, though both seem to be thriving well now that they have gained some weight. Offered about Tommy before she gave a simple response for herself, turning her gaze toward Hope again who was toying with a button on Selene's cloak. I am fine. -d-
Eirian: That is good to know, thank heaven. Very good to know...about all of you. Hope burbled and cooed with contentment now that Selene held her, hands waved up and down, up and down as if she had a hundred things to say! Alas, she was too young for true words yet and settled only for action and senses. Darker, more sinister forces had made Eirian press the baby to her breast as not to behold the massacre in the streets before the inn at the nine bells tolling. Opposistion was met with the sword. Pandemonium in certain districts was a part of life, and not even her husband seemed close to himself in the midst of it all. He seemed, conflicted. Divided on what to do, as if he'd made a choice he wasn't content with. I asked you hear because it is simply best you know the entire truth, given you know touches already. In my first marriage, General Kushrenada took me to his homeland, after our wedding, to gain the blessings of his family and Emperor, to stay beside his mother as she passed. There was more besides the arts I was schooled in, but there was the gift of foresight, once discovered, I was taken to the temple for all things With Hope in her arms, she looked at the door to the nursery, and with a push of the unseen, she wielded it shut so they could speak and show in private (d)
Selene: Selene kept her gaze riveted for now on the small girl in her arms, letting the silence and rememberances of that night at the inn flit in and out of her mind as it did Eirian's. Her gaze would finally lift toward the woman as she began to speak again, though still her lips were silent. She nodded her head in understanding, watching the door as it was pushed to meet its mate with the door's frame. Silently she waited to see if Eirian would continue with her story. -d-
Eirian: The General had an emblem, a phoenix as his God. Suzaku. In honor of that, Apollo had is talons on Orkney referred to as Suzaku's Talons. It was at the temple of this God that I was trained, my art became their art, and in those arts I learned to commune with the unseen. Visions come to me at will, as well as when the spirit moves it. I can find them in any artform, but there is more. I can will things with my mind, speak with it, and redirect forces. Michael Vincere has seen it. On the estate in Skye, a prisoner captured came towards me, holding me by my throat and I could not breathe. Then, he went toward Hope..and what he had given to me was put upon him. Then her mouth opened, "Talion doesn't know, and I am not sure the Lieutenant knows that to believe. It is well known of my visions, but nothing else" (d)
Selene: Selene listened as Eirian spoke of her past experiences and those that were more present. Her gaze flitted between Eirian and Hope, considering carefully all that this woman was sharing with her. Hope was slowly stilling in Selene's arms, her lashes growing sluggish in their blinks and her hands moving to only fidget over her stomach as she gave a valiant effort to ward off the sleep that was closing in on her. Blue gaze would lift toward Eirian then as she spoke aloud, opting to use her voice as well. "So he and I are the only ones to know then." Or so it sounded like, anyway. Selene mulled over it quietly for a moment, running her fingertips lightly over Hope's crown. "It is probably best that it stays that way for now. " Spoken in hushed tones as not to disturb the now sleeping baby. "It is a dangerous time even for me with the Steward in control. It was risky for me to even come here today; if they find out I visited the house of Apollo, they might fear that we are planning a rebellion. Your husband is already under constant supervision whether he is aware of it or not." Her expresion sobered completely then and Eirian would feel the witch's trepidation. "It is imperative that Apollo not have anything to do with a rebellion, m'Lady, even if he wishes for nothing else. It is not for him to plan and take upon his shoulders. Not with such watchfuleyes on his back." -d-
Eirian: "Yes, you both are all that know here, and I agree with you. Selene, in all frankness, I fear for my husband. He is not himself," She sighed softly, giving Hope her finger to hold as she drifted off to a place where rebellions came only in one color crashing against another. No, do not open your eyes, my love. shh.... The words echoed softly in Hope's thoughts, a kiss to the forehead as Selene would still hold her. "He is delighted of our marriage, and together we know a happiness, but his stilled hand. I will do what I can to temper him, and pray he remains open to this life, whatever we can glean of it. I have seen visions, more blood, more massacres in the streets. A fire, in the poor district. This man is a monster, and his venom is going to seep deep. He is going to bite on to Talion in misery, and God help whomever begins the resistance now." It wasn't the time. Not yet. Why did she think this way "We must meet often, to speak, if you do not mind. There is a good in it." (d)
Selene: She nooded her head slowly. "I have seen those thing, too .. and so much more." She slowly handed the sleeping girl back to her mother before speaking silently again. Do not worry. There WILL be a resistance. And it will come swift and hard when they least expect it. There is still much to plan and it is with reluctance it must wait a bit longer. It was not the right time now. The ranks had scattered. The people were terrified to leave their homes. It would take time to get them all organized and armed, and doing it all in secret. A last drifting of her fingertips across Hope's cheek before she rose to her feet with a nod. "We will. Let me come to you, Eirian ..but do not fear the ways I come to you because rarely will it be upon my feet to your front door." A weary sigh escaped her lips. "The patrol comes near. I must go. But we will speak again soon." An encouraging smile before shadows began to draw toward the witch and circle around her until there was nothing but darkness and a moment later, they dissipated and Selene had vanished. Poofed. -d-
Eirian: Yes, it must, some will be full enough to start now. Some have started now..She pulled back the gauzy curtain over the window as if adjusting, but enough fraction slivered for Selene to see. In the neighborhood beyond where sight upon sight reached there were places where peopled talked too close to people who listened. There were people who sharpened swords near those who already hand unsheathed blades. In two days they will all die. She nodded to the fact she must depart, for it was true. All of Apollo's associates were to be watched - and she knew among them - even her motions were not undetected. "Be well, Selene, and thank you. I will keep your secret as you keep mine." If not, they could both burn on the stake for it. (D)
