Kennocha Rhaine: Kennocha stood among the other gypsys that would be performing tonight, though she was off by herself a bit rearranging a few things on a table. She was already dressed for the night in a copper/gold belly dancer outfit, finely beaded with guazy strands flowing around her slender legs. Her shoulders were bare but her arms were encased with gauzy beaded sleeves. Hanging from her belt was the gold mask she planned to wear tonight but it was not needed at the moment so its place was secure there for now. Her long dark hair was down and fell to the middle of her back in soft waves, and every time she moved she tinkled wearing the ever present bells around her wrists and ankles.
AIendral: The Illusionist chose now to appear, naturally, just as curious about the other acts as he was about everything else. not requiring a performance, he had instead swapped into his costume for the festivities, having chosen (to his own amusement) to garb himself similar to the sun god himself, a sheer white robe hanging loosely from athetlic frame, his hair a mess of small curls, having long since given up his spectacles, an elegant shaped bow strung behind him and cradling a lyre. Far stranger though was the subtle glamour that came about an otherwise simple costume--his features seemed noticeably sharper, emphasizing the young features of his face considerably, and he carried himself with a grace that belied even previous encounters--a fludiity of movement that seemed almost otherworldly. Having set aside the mask for now, the illusionist took stock of the various Gypys 'till he spotted the one he was looking for in particular--the woman in the fairly enticing outfit, suppressing a mild grin as he did his best to sneak up under all the commotion and clear his throat. "Seems I made a mistake in choosing my volunteers. The audience would have a hard time taking their eyes off such a vision, I suspect." and right into the silver tongue he launched. He waited for the young woman to turn around, waving his hand. Even stranger, aside from the familiar grin, it seems as if the Illusionist had transformed entirely.
Kennocha Rhaine: She was so absorbed with what she was doing that when he spoke quietly in her ear practically she jumped with a startled gasp and whirled around. His compliment making her flush brightly while dark eyes sought his. She wrinkled her brows a little, ok she knew that voice but the face she remembered didn ot match. A moment of confusion. She let it melt away though and offered a pretty little dimpled smile while her exotic voice was heard for him alone. "I think with little tricks like that, I will be quite forgotten."
AIendral: The piece of flattery was met with another wry grin and he riposted. " A first lesson, my dearest girl, is to never underestimate the power of a beautiful woman. For no matter the wonders that they see, it can scarcely match the wonders of the woman carved from the loving hands of God himself, so radiant it is painful to lay the eyes on. It also is a fantastic way to make sure their attention is elsewhere." he smirked. "In any case, as I have promised so I have arrived, to discuss the prospect of a burgeoning young Ilusionist seeking to carve her own path of wonder and mystique. " he bowed eloquently then, before fixing his gaze up to her.
Kennocha Rhaine: She chuckled softly and leaned against the table as she met his gaze. A shake of her head had those soft curls falling over her shoulders and against her breasts coveredin delicate bead work. "And what if the female is the Illusionist, how would she distract the crowd?" Her voice was soft and teasing, her eyes with merriment. "And thank you for being willing to show me a few things. I practice but it seems I am not very good at it." That admission made her flush a little once more and for her eyes to drop in a bit of embarassment.
AIendral: "The first would be to find a woman of even more striking beauty to draw the eye, but of course, I would find such a challenge impossible to surmount. Still! There are some things you may be able to do. Dress conservatively, to hide the curves that so draw the eye, perhaps something to hide the hair... and in your case." Unable to resist the chance at flattering a woman senseless, he gently took the woman's hand and brushed a small kiss to the back of her hand. "Avoid contact with the eyes so as that they may not find themselves lost within it..." and once it was finished, the Illusionist's face grew more sincere and he waved his hand. "A helping hand I'd be more then willing, though for my secrets I'm afraid will carry a bit of a price! Still, I am sure the lady is being modest. Certainly you may demonstarte to me what little you learned, before the critical eye of an Illusionist to best gauge your ability.
Kennocha Rhaine : His compliments had her eyes dropping. She was not used to anyone flattering her so, perhaps because despite being a gypsy she spent most of her time trying to be invisible to others as much as possible. At his request that she show him what she meant she glanced up at him a dark slender brow rose, those beautiful dark eyes resting on his. " I warn you I am not very good, even little simple tricks do now work for me." She started to step back a step and realized she could go no further. She caught herself before knocking into the table then made a motion with her hand attempting to create the image of a rose floating between them. But all that happened was a swirrl of air, like a ripple of something, and then nothing. She frowned.
AIendral: Alendral switched then, though displaying even the moment's weakness was enough to earn her the undue attention for the Illusionist for the rest of her life, no doubt, and he watched as she conjured, smiling dutifully before carrying himself till he was at her side, a slender arm wrapping around her waist while he moved to place his hand under hers, speaking in cool, thoughtful tones. "Ahh.. a rare gift, those truly touched with an eye of illusion, who can craft the masque from air itself... but many who possess the gift are incapable of wielding it, for they don't know the rules.. here.. I'll show you." He smiled and reshaped her hand slowly, pinching her fingers together. "The first you must understand is that Illusion by and large relies on the expectations of its audience, and thus can not be wielded crudely. I understand what you were trying to accomplish, but what you were trying to do--to shape an image that has no substance, and then move it in such a way... demands a great effort on your behalf. You are young yet, and so you will not not be able to form such complex imagery so freely. Here.. start simple. " he took an arm off her long enough to duck into hiis pocket--withdrawing, surprisingly, a rose, which he tucked into her arm before resuming his (frankly unnecessary) half embrace of her, grinning--it had substance, felt a subtle weight on her fingertips--but why would an Illusionist hide a rose. "Focus instead on making the object do something unbelieveable... then later, mayhaps, you may learn to conjure wonder from the air...
Kennocha Rhaine: Unconciously she leaned into that half embrace, concentrating on his words, barely aware of much else save what he spoke of. " Make it do something unbelieveable?" She asked softly. Then concentrated on the rose. It lay there on her arm, while her hands molded as he had shown her. She concentrated harder her focus completely on the rose now, perhaps a little too much focus because what had meant to be just a light lifting and moving of the rose had it shoot out from its place to land a few feet away from where they stood, it skittered a few feet then came to a stop.
AIendral: Well that was unexpected. He watched the thing shoot out of her hand and the 'gods' visage became vaguely dumbfounded. "Huh..." He tilted his head awkwardly. "Well, that's a start, I suppose. Certain few would believe you actually did that. " he grinned and disentangled himself from her long enough to go and retrieve the object with a vaguely amused expression plucking the tall rose from the ground before he made his way to her. "Alright, so we've established you can exert your will on an illusion, yet we still have you lacking in control... it's a start." he brought the rose up to her, and with a single flick of his hand, made it disappear, drawing himself to her side again with an arm about her shoulder and a wry grin. Another flick, and itw as back in hand, it's petals grazing the side of her cheek while he fixed her with a Rogue expression. "My guess, were I such an expert in these matters, is that you were too focused on my literal interpretation and not on a specific. You must dictate first what you wish to happen in your mind, form a clear picture... know what it is that you wish to see, and what will appear. Only when the image is clear, can you weave the illuson proper." He twisted his hand and closed it to banish the rose again, this time drawing it in his other hand, held to the side of her face to hand it back to her. "Remember this. In such proximity--I must can see the rose, smell it... I can hear it shift as it glides across skin and cloth... a true illusionist forsakes not the tiniest details, for an illusion must fool all the senses. It requires a keen mind, and the creatity of an artist. Think carefully now.. and concentrate." It was a wonder he was concentrating at all, leaning subtly against the woman as he talked in smooth, duclet tones.
Kennocha Rhaine: Her head tilted toward him as she listened, her mind filing away his words a small smile curving her soft lips at his surprise. She closed her eyes a moment and let his words weave a picture in her mind, that perfect red rose whose soft petals he had caressed her cheek with, floating in her mind. Every little detail. She held her hands out in front of her, as she pictured it floating just a few inches above her small palms. With her eyes closed she did not see it as it formed shape, but she felt it. It was not quite floating. Instead it rested gently against her skin. She felt a moment of triumph, then opened her eyes to see what she had done.
AIendral : He smiled, patiently as he saw it lift of its own volition, seemingly pleased by the the display. "Good... very good. You're a fast learner. It took me days to learn such an intricate trick. Now for the second free lesson--for you have learned to fool the senses into seeing the impossible... by exerting your will on an object that does not exist at all." And at that, the Rose promptly vanished, congealing into mist before disappearing entirely. "You did such because you believed it was real... a rose, of gentle fragrances and vivid hues... but there never was any Rose. I merely made you believe it. Convince a woman or man that an object exists when it does not, and you introduce wonder and mystery. And the audience.. mere putty in your hands, to be moulded as they see fit." He smiled patiently then and stepped aside. "For these are the fundamental principles of basic illuion. If it can be believed real, it can be done, but one must pay attention to detail. The more you struggle to break the audience's perception of reality, the harder it will be to conjure... Start small, and build up such feats, a bit a a time... until they believe anything you tell them. Understand..?"
Kennocha Rhaine: She nodded that she did understand and lifted those dark eyes to his. " Thank you. If I were to ask for more lessons, what would they cost?" She had a thirst to get better, a need to not make such a fool of herself when things just did not work for her. The instructions he had given her were filed away in her mind and he could be certain she would be practicing for hours every chance she got.
AIendral: "Welllll, that is the question now isn't it? For teaching someone who would one day steal her business from me is a daunting prospect for any Illusionist... Hmmm" he grinned moderately as he mulled over the possabilities. "And yet, I find it almost unfair to ask for much for a woman of the road for much in the way of money, for I am faamiliar with the perils of a traveling lifestyle... so instead, I will suggest this. You will learn what you can while I stay.. and after the Masque will make a choice. For I must take my leave afterwards, the road calls me again. If you would wish, you may travel as my assistant, should you so wish for it... but I am beginning to understand few would want to part company for this place... we shall see how things go and when it is over, you will set a price as you see fit. I require only a promise that I will be compensated in some way for the secrets I yield, hm...? And perhaps a mere token to insure your word on the part."
Kennocha Rhaine: She leaned against the table once more and mulled that over. A dark brow rose and a tiny painted nail came up to caress her bottom lip as she thought. She had just purchased a cart, and a horse, so it would not be hard for her to move around, especially if it meant learning more. She was tired of the paltry little tricks that left much to be desired and most people walked away from. " I am not sure about leaving, we shall see about that when the time arrives, but I agree. Though what sort of token would you like that would secure our little deal?" She asked him with a dimpled smile.
AIendral: "I would make no such assumptions, of course, much as I might dream of sweeping the young lady away from this and showering her with such praise and affection so rightly deserved." he grinned again and strolled casually to her side, exaggerating his own ponderment of the possabiltiies. "So many possabilities, what might I ask? My mind demands permeanance, my heart suggests nothing more then a moment's kiss, and the mind curses its imperitence!" There really was no disuading Alendral from his attempts, and that was something she may want to learn quickly enough. "Merely something that may mean enough to you, my dear, to part with that may equal parting an Illusionist to his secrets. For you ask me to give you a gift most dear of me, and thus I part with my most sacred secrets. Surely you have something of your own value equal to that?" He risked snaking an arm casually around her waist again, eyes alight with merriment and exhuberance.
Kennocha Rhaine: She laughed softly at his eloquent words then nudged him as he wrapped his arm around her waist then leaned against him. " I have a rare tiger's eye jewel I picked up from an old gypsy a long time ago. I have held onto it for years, not quite sure why but it is yours if you want it. And a kiss if you truely want it, but beware you don't sweep away an unsuspecting heart in the process." She said with a playful wink.
Alendral: "Keep the gem, for the such a rare gift may be indeed an uneven trade, even for an Illusionist's secrets." And of course, given offered he'd damn well take, reaching up to touch her cheek gently and turn her head slowly. "But I must warn you my dear, not to lose your heart along the way.. for you can no more grasp hold of true illusion than me. " and with that warning, he leaned forward and brushed the softest kiss against her lips, a gentle gesture that he lingered for only a moment before drawing away, all smiles and triumphant expressions. "An acceptable down payment, for an exceptional gift of my own. Now you really must prepare for the revelry. See you at the festivities, my dear." and at that, he began to slip away, drawing away from her in smooth gesture and backing away with another noble bow befoer slipping away.
Kennocha Rhaine: she gave a soft little chuckle as he warned her not to loose her heart to him, then closed her eyes at the brush of his lips against hers. Her own hand came up and caressed his handsome cheek, then slowly dropped away as he moved away from her. " I look forward to it." She said with a smile before watching him disappear.
