- Life is a series of scenes printed indelibly on the brain to be recollected later when the entire amount plays together in memory. -
A Noble Puzzle: The late afternoon saw no reprieve for the merchants, stall keeps, shop keeps, or any selling from something as simple as an erected table or the back of their wagon. Business moved hands, mouths, and trade of coinbeyond the common hours in the capital city. A point of even a lazy-hung sun was still business' zenith. Colors. Sights and Sounds. A capital time, too, for Kendrew to walk with the woman who'd been kind enough to indulge the rare time the man asked for something. Kendrew of Dumfrieshire turned a corner with a pair of polished boots with dark brown, clean breeches tucked in. Neither worn nor with any holes, next would come one of his"good" turnics, of a velvet sort he often wore when the need called for it, his hands gloved after riding upon a horse...but it was the fact alone he appeared so crisp and kept. No, their Graces were no where in the vacinity as his interest for once were personal. There was a smile on his face, and a woman with her hand on his arm. (d)
Kennocha Rhaine: She glared at the vendor and fought the urge to stomp her small sandaled foot that was encircled with tiny silver tinkling charms that had beels inside them. He was being unfair. What she offered in trade was more then enough to pay for the bolt of cloth she wanted. " Come now Sir be reasonable will you? Three goodsized stones of this quality should be more then enough to pay for one bolt of some of the finest cloths, and that is not even near your finest." She frowned in frustration as the man continued to shake his head. Sitting before him were three stones, one beautifully polished Tiger's eye gleaming in the sunlight it's size rivaled most found almost the size of her tiny fist, shaped and rounded into an egg shape. The next was a deep blue sodalite ( thinkthat's right.)) Also egg shaped with white marbled through the rich shades of blue, and the next was much smaller, perhaps the size of a humming bird's egg... and it was a ruby, rich in color uncut though highly polished to shine as a ruby should. She gave the man a disbelieving stare when he continued to refuse the trade. " Coins Only Miss." he stated firmly. (d)
nights of Skye: Caden stood behind Eirian as they paused to look over some merchandise. He peered over her shoulder at Hope and made faces at her hoping to get a smile or a giggle from the infant. He wrinkled his nose at her then gace a comediclook of surprise when Annabel pushed her head against his backside nearly making him fall into Eirian. He turned to glare at her playfully. " Hey now tha' was nae nice. " Then tapped Eirian's shoulder with a grin his voice still playful as he spoke. " Did ye see tha' Cousin, She nearly knocked me over." They had been discussing earlier in the day how it seemed Annabel had grown a little Jelous of little Hope, who never failed to capture the young Knight's attention when she was around. He wiggled his brows at his cousin before kneeling down to rub his face against Anna's neck. " Come now Lass It does nae mean I love ye annae less. " The big striped white tigress purred
Knights of Skye: and pressed against him, giving her forgiveness which brought another grin to his lips as he stood and continued to rub her ears while his blue eyes searched the crowd. First he picked out the other guards that were in constant attendance of Eirian at his insistance, respectfully keeping their distance but there just in case, then he searched the crowd for suspicious activities before his attention was once more focused on his Cousin and the little girl she carried. (d)
The Wind an Mist: Had she been a regular or rarher a long standing patron of Skye, it would of seemed odd to see her walking in the market, in a dress! The peircing red of the dress set off the tan of her skin as well as accented the russet color of her hair which was pulled back into a ponytail and was in its certain condition, creating small curls which rolled and fall over one shoulder and across a delicate rounded bosom. Clips of gold had been placed in her hair at just the right angle to make it seem as if they were dangling from her ears. Her lips cracked into a small smile, one she could not help at the sounds of the market. It was life in full swing, something that tingled in her blood and made her porud to be alive. She paused near the woman bartering with the gentleman about stones for cloth. Turning an eye to a man who was a step behind her, he too had been freshly cleancut and dressed. A crewmember and her first. She trusted no other. A nod of her head given as she held her hand out for a bag of coins passed between hands. Her voice rose above the hussle and bust of the cries of bartering"I'll buy your stones miss, then you can purchas your cloth"The voice was as smooth as honey even with the lifting her voice to outvoice the crowd.*
VeiledProphecy: Chocolate eyes were lit by a wide smile and the joy of walking on the arm of a handsome man this day. Duty and responsibility was put aside for personal enjoyment as Liliana walked through the bustling market with Kendrew. Hiscompany was found quite pleasant. Just for the occasion, wanting to look nice, Liliana had worn a peach muslin gown and left ebony hair hanging loose down her back. It was not fancy, but it was nice enough. At least she was hoping he found it nice! Looking about the market place, the sounds of hawkers assaulting her ears, Liliana would flash that warm smile in Kendrew's direction. "Business is booming it seems." (d)
A Noble Puzzle: "Aye, tha' it is.All o' the merchants seem out in packs like wolves." Baritone bass came out today in a quality that befit a content lad instead of a man who'd brewded over matters of court only yestereve. Clasping his free hand over the small one she lent to his arm, they wandered down the long rows of vendors and past open store doors. "They might eat us, if we are nay careful. Nothin' is more vengeful than barterin' for goods." He snarled, drawing her close against him and letting his hands have the liberty of tickling her sides. Laughter came next, a brightness in his eyes that hadn't been even when he displayed happiness before. It was hard to say what he felt like, for he was no less than who he was..but perhaps...he felt more like..who he was supposed to be. -
"Why would not poor Annabell feel a bit of green go o'er her eyes, cousin? She is not thy chosen Lady! For a woman to lose her place leaves her mood bitter and sour, especially when for a sprig of a girl," She displayed the baby for the tigress to see, who simply scoffed at her after sniffing. "What e'e rwill she do? Ariacellis has sought my artistry for her grand party a few days hence, perhaps the mores the better...some will surely be fascinated by your first wife." She teased whole heartedly. There had been much shopping done for the masque between the women as Caden rolled with them from place to place, Eirian fufilling the duty of showing the Baroness of Dun Mhor hither and yon. Now? In the spirit of the afternoon, she sought to do such for the family, and see how all the product of the valley faired (d)
Kennocha Rhaine: Kennie looked from the merchant who was the source of another glare and then back at the woman. She nodded in agreeance. " I will accept that thank you." She handed the three stones over one at a time before accepting the bag of coin, which she would open and peer inside to see how much she had to work with. Satisfied she lifted her dark eyed gaze to the woman and offered a slender hand to her, her wrist also encirlcled with little charms that tinkledas she moved. " I am Kennocha," She would introduce herself, turning her back on the merchant who now greedily eyed the bag of coins that she no longer planned to give him benefit of. (d)
Knights of Skye: His face flushed with good natured embarassment as he shook his head. " Yes well..... " He trailed off not really having anything to counter that, at least not in the witty since. He nudged Eirian gently. " Have you chosen a costume for the Masque yet Cousin?" he was highly curious if she had and if so what she had chosen, but knew equally well that she would make him wait and find out what it was that she had chosen so he settled for a yes or no answer for the time being. (( Lol its ok I am done now (d)_)
he Wind an Mist: The dress she wore was one shouldered. Clinging rightly to a right shoulder and then draping down towards her left hip. A perfect look for the egyptian blood in her. Right hand went out to clasp the womans, the proud pirate flag of her ship displayed promptly on her wrist as she clasped the womans hand gently then released it"Ealora". While she made the introductions, the stones were slipped back to her shipmate. She didn't know what she was going to do with them but oh well, she'd figure something out. This was her good deed for the year! There was more then ample coin paid for them so she would be sure to use them well. Taking her hand back from Kennocha she pressed her lips firmly together, as if scowling before turning to look around the market. Ok introductions done, damn it she didn't like meeting new people. There was always an awkward pause after.*
VeiledProphecy: "Oh, I have had the..honor...of bartering with merchants. Not only can they be fierce, but they can also be quite sneaky. I never give in though." The tickling brought a slight squeek and then laughter that sounded like the tinkling of bells. Grin widening, she'd sidestep to avoid his tickling, and bump straight into a young lady holding a bag. Shocked, hand reaching out to grab an arm to steady the lady if needed, Liliana would murmur apologetically,"Oh dear, I am so sorry!" (d)
A Noble Puzzle: "No, Caden I hardly have any idea what would best suit for the occasion. Tis been a long time since I have dawned a costume for a masquerade, and it seems an enternity since last I was at the honor of something so large. How to put this, but tis likened to a skill one has. When out of use, it falls to the wayside. M'hope is to decor our cousin's party well, and make nary a fool of mineself." -
"So then, m'lady you have your own tooth n' nail for business? I'd like much to see that.." Alas! The fiesty woman slipped away from him but the advantage was he could watch her move for the instant she did. Her figure turned, the curve of one side was noticed most from top to bottom. God was good, he was very good! "Don't deprive me too long now.." came the repy with the grin, only for him to bow instead when his banter had caused poor Liliana to careen with business in progress! As fate would have it, a stiff deal were it not for the two women coming to agreeance to one up the merchant who waited his coin. "My apologies, ladies. Me jestin' sent her this way." (d)
Kennocha Rhaine: She nearly dropped the coin which cut off the pleasantries she had been about to share with Ealora, which perhaps gave the woman an out of the akward silence. She managed to keep from dropping her coin at the last second and gave the playful pair a curious look. Soon a smile blossomed upon her lips as she took two steps away from the vendor making it clear he had lost the sale he was now dying to get. " It is quite alright, no harm done." When she spoke if she could really be heard above the din of people, her voice had a husky quality to it, as if her pipes had been abused at some point or another or perhaps permanantly damaged. But instead of taking away from the allureof her quaint beauty, it only seemed to add to it. (d)
Knights of Skye: He gave her a playful pout, meant more for Hope's amusement then Eirians. "Well tha' is nae fair then, If I have tae dress up then sae dae ye." He got this stubborn look on his face, but knew full well that his cousin's stubbornness would win out, she had far more patience then he did when it came to certain things. His gaze lifted from his Cousin and the baby to rest on those who laughter spilled from and spotted Sir Kindrew in the center of a group of women near a vendor. A blonde brow lifted curiously but he remained where he was doubting the man would even notice any others about, and why should he look at what surrounded him. Three beautiful Ladies.... (d)
he Wind an Mist: A brow rose, as if doubting both the lady and Kendrew words, the look on her face seemed to speak for her, you should of watched where you were going. Still, no harm done right? Her lips twitched in a slight smile, as if to disguard anything her features had said. "No harm done" She muttered into the throng of the market, doubtful they would even hear it as celadon eyes gave a once over the market again. There just simply was to much to see in one sitting, at
The Wind an Mist: least to an eye trained to see more then was apparent. A turn of head had the jewelry set within her hair clinging softly. She didn't offer her excuses as she moved to the stall behind the trio to look at some jewelry upon the table top.*
VeiledProphecy: "Aye, it is this handsome man's fault. I was being tickled!" A wink and playful nudge was given to Kendrew as blame was laid at his feet. In truth it was only an accident. In such a crowded place those tended to occur. Chocolate eyes moved with curiousity from the young lady with the coin bag to the vendor who was now looking huffy at the loss of a sale. Looking back to the young lady, she'd murmur softly,"I think you may have him eating out of your handnow. Usually they will re-think their ways if they think a sale is lost." Gaze would move then to the other woman, a nod of her head given,"It was indeed an accident, miss. I did not mean to stumble into your friend." (d)
A Noble Puzzle: Apologies were offered in earnest that didn't seem to appease one of the party - an eye that spoke more than her mouth ever needed to - the eyebrow, the look on the face. He recognized her at once though didn't speak her name . Not caring if she wanted anonimity or recognition, he had better company yielding sweeter discourse than the dagger laced eyes she tried to hide. Twice now, he'd seen her indifference. Once spouting rhetoric around a supper table with points he could agree on. Twice, in a greeting at the shore where she'd seemed less than enchanted. Indifference. Disenchantment. Everyone was entitled to a thought, but just because she'd put ona dress and a pair of hair combs she doubted his authenticity with the stature of a supposed noble? Pah! Dress up a sow's ear in silk and it was still a sows ear. Pearls came before the swine. "Sorrah, good seller, for interrupting ye business. Many a witness made for poor chance to hawk a young lady's coin o'ermuch, and the presence of Sir Kendrew...a shadow throne two seeming heads higher than the merchants? He wouldn't try. As Ealora went over to another place he would begin that much more to think on what brought her here. Aye. He and the General were going to be having a long conversation reguarding this one. "Ah, Sir Caden. I see ye are 'bout with the Lady o' the Valley and the prettiest child in tha' place. Keeping them safe, aye?" As if on duty, hawk eyes set into his face for the goodness here was much. (d)
Kennocha Rhaine: She smiled warmly to the woman then glanced back at the Vendor. " He might be willing to barter now, but he lost his chance when the real tresure was offered. I will find what I need else where." she shrugged her slender shoulders with indifference to the Vendor, perhaps he would learn next time that when so richly offered he should think of working with someone. Her words received a glare from him but she did not seem to notice as as mile was offered to them both before her gaze began to surripticously glance around for another vendor that might sell what she was looking for. (d)
Knights of Skye: Caden gave Kendrew a dimpled grin. " Aye of course I am keepin them safe.. " At the mention of little Hope he reached for her to see if Eirian would let him hold her and let Kendrew get a good look at her while Eirian conducted her business. " How have ye been Sir Kendrew," He nodded towards the two women now there in his presence. " I see ye have chosen good company." (d)
The Wind an Mist: Did she care what people called her? Of course not else she'd be a very bitter woman but lord help the person that became her friend. She wasn't mean, just brutally honest. Even if it was just a look. To hades with anyone who didn't like it was her concept of living. Of course there were a couple unsavory wording she used as well to describe things but that was neither here or there. She fingered some hair combs, one catching her eye was a decorated egyptian piece with etched hieroglyphic. For once, her face softened and a smile touched her lips longer then a split second. She lifted the comb and used her keen eye to look for any markings before she nodded her head to the vendor and her companion. Turning away from the vendor, she raised her hand to slid the comb into her hair while her companion paid the amount. It never mattered the piece for a good item. The smile was still on her lips but quickly fell as she moved on to another stall to look at writing utensils, she needed some more of those.*
eiledProphecy: When no comment was forthcoming from the woman who had been shooting daggers, so to speak, Liliana shrugged and turned away. Her attention was now on the young lady who was punishing the vendor by refusing to buy his goods. "A bravesoul you must be to risk the fury of a merchant!" Already Liliana liked her. For one to do something so brave was amusing and worthy of praise. A lesson well-earned for the vendor! "Oh, forgive me, I am Mistress Liliana Marishka. What be your name, miss?" Chocolate eyes briefly sought out the form of Kendrew, noting the presence of Caden, Hope, and Eirian. A smile would be passed in their direction before looking back to the young lady who seemed intent to shop. "Do forgive me for keeping you from business, miss." (d)
A Noble Puzzle: Kendrew knew when to leave well enough alone by circumstance if not by age. The quiet rumbling in his chest over the matter held words he would not say in the company of real ladies lest their ears burn and Jesu have words of reckoning for him on the judgement day. His arm went outward and sought to bring Liliana to his side. Down lad, be still. Even the wise had to be reminded to follow their own advice. Just as soon as the ire in him rose, Hope smote it out as she took his hand. "'Ello there, little lass..how many hearts have ye broken today?" --
A Noble Puzzle: "Sir Kendrew, greetings! We were out on a long business today to sell, to see what is sold! A woman's work is ne'er done, it seems even from so young an age as infancy. Good day, Mistress Liliana, and to you, miss." She gave a cant of head and polite bend of knee in the direction of Kennocha. Of the woman of the sea who passed the group hence? Eirian saw her in passing, and would bid her no less of a greeting with zeal given she was not inflicted by the injury or pointed looks. Lifting a hand, she waved to her before conversation began again, bidding her listen (d)
Aslan Burning: The sun was high in the afternoon it's passage secured for the dawning eve, but in unable to give up just yet it's wrath on the streets below. As the General made his way through the sea of people he could not help but devour the flash of memories of his childhood. An ocean of souls moved through the streets under lines of strung fabrics drying in the dessert sun. This was the one memory of his mother, the scent of jasmine the noise of the crowds and her gentle hum seeming to soothe his fright. He could remember the solid black curls of her hair, and how they felt like silk wrapping his chubby fingers as he rest upon her hip. Then there was silence, as the Arena's gates closed and suddenly her song was gone. What a man he had grown into, would she be proud? From a teething toddler to a lethal Beast--such a change. Of men and mice there was but one who ate both. Maahes seemed the part of his title, but as of late that had been expected; for he grew into the roll with the passing days. However today his jasper colored robe was left in the cool confines of his room, and traded for tunic well removed of it's sleeves. Golden bronze flesh came alive under the sun, as the fires of his Arabic heritage were pure. He wore but one sword(that was visible) , the top heavy curved blade that pressed against his shoulder seemed to be only another part of his body as where there was death--there was Maahes. Bones carved into beads accented his heavy tendrils of hair that ran the length of his spine, and the wind pressed the loose curls of hair that had yet to be captured against his face. Hope. There was Hope..Eirian..Kendrew..Lilliana..Caden..Oh and look the girl from the eve before. Go say hi Maahes. His tall frame wove through the crowd but as soon as amber eyes fell upon the pirate his steps stilled. chyt. Taking a deep breath he let the sea of people rise around him in hopes that he could be missed. (d
Kennocha Rhaine: She smiled to Liliana. " I am Kennocha. And you are not interrupting, What I am looking for can be found at any time." She smiled again a bit of a dimple peeking in her smile. Something stirred within causing her to lift herhead and look around. And there she would spot the man from last night. She smiled a little. Perhaps she saw through his tough veneer, perhaps it was something else, but she did lift her hand to wave at him, beackoning him closer or so she hoped. She was blissfully unaware that he had suddenly decided to hide in the crowd and wound up drawing attention to him any way despite his wish to blend in. After a moment she turned her attention to Eirian and Caden and the baby. " What a beautiful baby. " She breathed appreciatively before reaching into a pouch at her waist hidden within the colorful folds of her skirt. From it she drew a small ring with odd shaped creatures made of colorful plastic and offered it to the baby to play with. "A rare gift for a rare beauty." She said with a smile. (d)
Knights of Skye: Caden cradled Hope in his arms while the woman offered the odd looking toy that rattled when it was moved. But soon he was smiling broadly as a tiny fist was made around the circle and hands began to wave having the desired affect of making noise... He grinned at Eirian, but then something from the corner of his vison caught his eye and he would turn and hand Hope back to Eirian. " I will be back Shortly Cousin. I have to see to something." And with that he melded into the crowd giving a nod and a smile in greeting to Maahees when he passed him. (d)
The Wind an Mist: What was going on. She was looking over the writing utensils when a brush of a new man passed her companion, a slid of paper and then a brush of a mouth near her ear. She lifted from her lean at looking at the pens to straighten. Turning to her companion, she took the piece of parchment from his fingers and scanned the contents before sliding it back into her companions hand. Both male and female had feirce seriousness on their face. Her lips brushed near her companion ear and he was easing a new coin purse into her hand before falling into the crowd behind her. Jingling the coins in her hand, she moved back towards the group which now consisted of Eirian and little Hope. She gave a small nod to the lady, her kindness had once amused Ealora enough to offer a small form of respect to her. She didn't ignore the others, instead managing a twitching smile. Maahes had sunk into a crowd, thank the gods she hadn't noticed him yet!*
A Noble Puzzle: Hope took the intricate toy and at once learned what it was by her gumless mouth gnawing over the creatures. The soft, gummy material was foreign to her, still providing amusement. Eirian dipped her knees once more to Kennocha, "Thank you for your kindness, m'lady." The babes thanks was apparent. After receiving a nod from Ealora, she turned to the man who was awkward in a sea. A rock of a man being beaten by the current, she went to him instantly and gave him a dip of her knees. The curtsy was deep - a sign of respect and honor - as grace made flesh rose up to the stature God had given her. "Good afternoon, General. What brings you hence today? Have you some great business to take care of and I pray, that all with it and yourself are well." (d)
Aslan Burning: Oh what a story this could tell, a painting of night and day. The outside a vibrant display of loyalty, and the inside the dark twisted onset of a complex mind. Eirian would start her dip and instantly a hand shot out to touch her arm as if to assist her in the raise. "Do not lower your eyes on me." Spoken in such an awkward tone that even his tongue had trouble forming the words. "Stand tall and proud, Eirian." His raspy tone rumbled, and he dipped his chin in greeting to her--his Queen. To be in such a place was a way of testing himself each day, and fighting the demons of his fears. Here he would have to watch his coin rather then his back, but with his reputation the last man to be robbed would be Maahes (especially since last night.). To the rest he would pass his eyes, his greeting was of course silent with a nod of his head. "I.." Caught off guard by the question was looking for you.didn't really sound appropriate now did it? "Tommy gets big." Meaning he was trying to sort out things for the child, but frankly having no clue where to begin. "I have also come to see Bess, but I will return to the Valley soon." Dark eyes narrowed upon the back of the pirate and then turned to Kendrew. No doubt the man was keeping his eye upon that one, especially with Hope around. (d
Kennocha Rhaine: She smiled to Eriian. "Please I am not a Lady, please call me Kennocha, or Kennie. " She shrugged slender shoulders. " And you are most welcome I hope she enjoys them." She watched as Eirian faded off to see Maahes then with a smile to the others she seemed to fade into the crowd. Even the sounds of the beels on her feet seemed to fade into nothingness. She was still there have no doubt... she just found another place to shop grinning when their ares were more suited then the first she had found. She hummed softly while she continued her shopping suddenly lost in her own little world. (d)
he Wind an Mist: Well, what a pleasant conversation. She'd missed anything that was said so just stayed quiet through the whole of it. Still it was better to look apart of the group now then be sought after as suspecious right? Well it was probably to late for that, still, shopping could only be stood for to long before she was irritated by it. They sounds she still enjoyed but the overpricing to make more then an item was worth was just not something she could stand and rather then break a vendors nose and be put back into jail...again. A turn back to the gathering was a better idea, the more appropriate one though she suspected her presence might not be felt as a welcoming one due to her earlier display of diagreement. She'd never say she was sorry though so they would either brush it off or continue to dislike it, it was of no nevermind to herself.*
A Noble Puzzle: "One gives pause and salutation to the presence of greatness, General, yours included." She was caught and made to rise slowly as he quickened the pursuit of upward gravity to right her. The baby in her arms was amused by the stranger's gift of a toy. The starbusts in her eyes of cerulean mingled on the edges of brown to be the place where earth fell into the sky, the water. Mother adjusted her in arms to support her head all the more. How quickly theweeks were going by! How she grew! "Even my pride behooves me do this." Humility was far greater than bombast. Pride cometh before the fall, so it was in that she never strayed far from a truth --
A Noble Puzzle: His eyes could shame the sharpness of a bird of pray, a predator. Honed and sharp as the blade on his side they cut through the crowds with little trouble. Aye, Maahes could place a winning lot by Kendrew's instinct as he paid close attention to the company of women. His reasons for coming to the market were personal. Liliana bid farewell to the good natured Kennocha before returning to place her small arm over the thick muscles that made his own. A fortress of Celtic stone that bowed nor broke under any circumstance. She kept him soft -- a little -- as he turned his eye from the Lady of Airs. If she came anon he would be civil, though doubted the honesty in hers. "General," baritones and bass notes were the Lowlander's tone, "Good to see ye this afternoon." (d)
Aslan Burning: The heavy breeze shifted in the moment catching the broad expanse of his back and almost moving the mountain of a man forward. Was there a storm on the rise? "Old Man." The corner of his lips curled and the action bringing his face life. However, fate be it what you want, but was the Pirate wearing a dress? The fabric of his tunic tickled the flesh as it moved over his skin, and the Egyptian Arab moved the palm of his hand to chase away the feeling. His eyes followed the dawning jailbird before him, and he would do everything in his power to keep that anger at bay. "I would have thought you to be gone by now." There was only but a hint of bitterness there inside his rich tones, but mostly the confession of his honesty. He had not expected to ever see her again after her stay at the Briar Rose, but there she was; Heated flesh and looking very much the part of a lady. Though who could miss the tattoo when sheseemed to flaunt it. Pride. So full of pride aren't we seagull? (d
The Wind an Mist: "What brings you and your lady out this evening?"she asked of Kendrew though just to ask the question was like task in her throat. It wasn't that she disliked the man or his lady, she hardly knew both. It was better to be a bytch an push them away then be nice and make friends when she was one who split blood and enjoyed it. Celadon eyes swept to Maahes and a twitch of a smile caught her lips"Soon. Very soon" Does that please you bull? Those eyes seemed to speak the words without the movement of her lips. Prideful, yes, for only she knew her worth in the world. Let others place judgement on just a title one called oneself. If he wanted to hate her because of her profession, he could. She wasn't going to change it, hades, she didn't care what he thought of her. She knew..she knew what her life entitled. She wouldn't want the burden to be placed on any shoulder unable to take it. Prideful, damn straight.*
-
A Noble Puzzle: The Lady of Airs spoke to the pleblian that was Kendrew? Were there no scribes to take note of the occasion as the woman clad after foreign fashion paid some word or remark to the warrior? He was surprised after the look she tossed out like merchant tossed out their prices. Still, to ask a question was to get an answer. "To enjoy the sun n' see the sites within the capital, as we come to know one another." That might have been laughable in itself! Know Kendrew? Aside from the wanton bits of the tedious thought gone a'drift, little else was known. "What of yourself, Lady? Have ye found anythin' of worth in Turas Lan?" Besides ships to pillage -- thoughts turned to laws broken and the supper table of course held no baring to the streets - even that sea she was so fond of. Stray but a little, siren. Stray but a little from your floating isle and this time the men you'd lure to the rocks would crush you. He bid her no ill will but he was not sure of her will toward others. Maahes asked in short why she was about - what had already happened was his unspoken question. Liliana distracted him a moment with a kiss to the cheek as she
went forward to socialize with Eirian. The sight of the copper-skinned woman in sunlight made him smile a little (d)
Aslan Burning: Listening to the little conversation at hand he waited patiently for the break. Though her answer did quirk his interest as he did see her shopping each vendor and wondered if she held any of those trinkets unpaid. "Before or after the Masque?" The word was so foreign falling from his mouth, one that he had studied and even practiced. Yet, it was not one he looked forward to, but then again..there had been a strange feeling wash over him today, and if he believed in such traditions perhaps the Gypsy had been right. Hearing Kendrew again ask if she had seen anything of worth, he would have to press air quickly from his nostrils. Ha! "There are many things in these lands of worth, OldMan, but they are of no value to those who do not work for them." (d
The Wind an Mist: "I enjoy a bit of shopping every now and then. As far as the other, I'm still looking"Honyed voice had lifted a hitch away from the crude side. It all most sounded sweet. Perhaps it was the clothing getting to her but she was a woman. Wanting every now and then to look the part and be of fairer nature then the crude she was known for. One could be displayed, the other had to be some work at the other. It was long in coming, one could not just change with the flip of a coin what had taken years to achieve, stone heart and all. Celadon eyes went from Kendrew then to Maahes. A sparkle of amused fire lit within her eyes"There is to be a Masque?" uh oh, the man had just said the wrongthing. "I might wait till after the masque and make plans to attend, however if business can not be changed, then I'm sure my presence will be missed"The latter of her words were spoken in pure mock. Her missed, ha! now that was worth a laugh and she let out a flutter of laughter, as bubbly as champagne, it did not match the woman it came from.*
A Noble Puzzle: A dress. A dulcet tone. This did not a woman in his opinion make any more than having a set of cant n' balls made a man. Actions spoke louder than a few ha'penny a dozen words chasing 'round the marketplace. Under those hoisted breasts beat a heart that beat to the time of maritime mayhem. That head under those black strands moved on a track of logic so backwards not even the High Scholar could figure it. A masque she seemed to be dressed the part for even now. "Aye, a masque," he went on in some measure of good manners, "Tis got the folk all thrown about. To be in the Blue Castle, in a few days time. I'm sure, Lady Sailor, tha' someone will miss you." Satan missing his acolytes and the guards something extra to watch out for, maybe. The occasion almost made him loath it approaching. All the faces - good, wicked, twisted and angels. All of them covered by masks. "Come now General. Manners. We 'ave a higher bit to uphold with them." The Griffin waved over their heads and the castle was in the hills. The woman who put on airs must have drunk quite a dram tomake a soprano of her throat tones where scratched metal and leather had been a few evenings prior. He was stroked the wrong way by her today - for once - a man for whom was lauded for his patience felt it ebb like the withdrawal of the sea. -
A Noble Puzzle: "Yes, Liliana..the Baroness has asked my former students and m'self to help wth the decor. There seems so much to do in so short a time," The talk of women she craved, she seemed addicted to ever since Ariacellis had lifted the wings of the modest nightingale from around hearth and home to fly again. Talk of what was to be given, who was to host and why were on the pretty mouths of two lovely women as they moved between stalls under the watchful eye of the men (d)
Aslan Burning: He felt himself run cold, and suddenly all that was heard was the pounding of African drums as they came to life under his chest. "I don't have manners, Kendrew. Nor, do I care for any." What a brash thing to say, even from one who respected Kendrew as much as he. Once again Maahes walked the thin line between right and wrong. However he did not mean anything harsh just was how he was. It was not an issue of authority, just the a people in the streets washed in heavy masses now as the day was starting to end, and he felt himself close to being pulled under with the tide. For a moment, just a moment the rest of the world was lost as the breeze picked up the fabric of her dress, and he watched it come to life. No matter how hard he tried to fight it, the feeling rushed him that he was in fact seeing a vision and no longer living. "I'll be there." He broke the silence with the deep growl of his voice, like that would matter to her. Yet in his own awkward sort of way he was asking her to come. Lord he was flat out no good at this. Why should he want her there? Why? She was a Pirate, and he a nobleman now. What good would ever come from such a friendship? If given the chance something he secretly wished. (D
Shaden Aramoire: Indeed talk of the Masque had reached hither and yon in not only the town but nearby hamlets as well.. and once the Lady Aramoire had heard of it.. well.. lets just say she wasn't one to past up such and
advantagouse gathering, what better palett to server up the offerings of her profession ? why a Masque Ball practically called for mystery, intrigue and all manners of copious filandering.. all , laced with wine and spirits and the passion of the end of summer nights, iluuminated by a full harvest moon.. oh yes what better time could be had? None that she could think of at the moment.. not to mention it would give her ample measure to gather even more.. intelligence on the landed gentry the military and even some of the less desirable pirate brethern.. all this could be .. very useful in deed in the coming weeks.. and so it was this line of thinking that had led her here to the markets.. and in particular the stalls that carried the most expensive and exoitic silks and fabrics... it was here she wandered, her delicated hands engaged in sensullly running over bolts of gauzy rich fabrics that she choose not only for hue, but how they wouldfeel against her skin as well.. how they warmed to the touch.. or stayed cool.. and refressing against the flesh.(d)
The Wind an Mist: Lies don't become you, she had all most told Kendrew but then his words and eyes were directed to Maahes. She passed the small time casting her eyes between the two. A brow perked up in confusion an wonder at Maahes, I'll be there Her lips itched and twitched into a smile. That's nice dear, she had wanted to tell him but she reframed from it. It was better not to get herself thrown into jail with nice clothing on. Still in some unspoken way, she seemed to sense that he was asking her to come"I see"She managed to state. She couldn't outright say she was going to go, but neither did she say she was not going to. That was just...her nature. The catch of wind that had caught her clothing caught the tendrils of her hair and gave them a firm whip in its grasp, she caught the ends and lay them against her chest again before bringing her hand up to smooth the top of her head and any loose strand that had been caught by the wind. She was contimplating on going to the masque, if only to pluck the sore strings of those who didn't like her, they would remain nameless though. She enjoyed the torture of it. Very much so for it was all banter to her and nothing ever taken for more then face value.*
hisperedSpirits: The arrival back to Skye had been of her own free will, wanting time to visit with those she had left behind in order to help in Avaria. It was well worth it, for she had learned much of the land, the people, the traditions. Avaria, as other lands, did hold their own secrets. Had it become a home to the dark skinned woman? Yes, in part it had, though Skye still heled favor for reasons unknown at the moment. The boat had long since come to the dock and been tied down, but no one would be there to greet the woman, for she had told no one of her return. Hair was bound in small braids that trailed down her back and swayed, free as her arms were to move by her sides. The dressing was simple in breeches and a tunic, that were more accustom for a male then female. What need did she have of good clothing when she worked within mud much of her time. The moment bare feet stepped foot upon the paved path, her wide smile lifted, spreading full lips as chocolate eyes took in the town, buildings, air, people sky, everything. She had never been so happy to see a place.
A Noble Puzzle: "Ye need to get some, then," he rhetorted in a flat monotone that went to nothing under his breath. Maahes might here it only but that would be all who would be given the chance to glean even a portion of a man slowly burning. Where he could be flippant in disregarding a protocol who would be left to fix broken joints or attach the severed ruins? He had a foot put in his back every day he walked a pace behind or to the side of his sovereigns. He had to swallow his pride deep to do what he did. Maahes, then could afford to do the same. Lies didn't become him? Pah! When he spoke to Ealora it was in earnest, it'd been she who looked at him as if he were no more than a pebble under her shoe. What free time he had - if even could be spared - did he not for once get to call it precious? A man's head was crushed under the hooves of a horse on the castle courtyard stone but did he tell a soul? He listened as the Duchess' voice failed and he had to translate for impatient men. He kept her hands bound but was spurned by both she and Adam in their frustrations. Maahes could afford to temper whatever he felt. "Excuse me," he said to them as he offered the decked Ealora a bow of still stiffened form, his anger made it less than fluid "Enjoy your time in the market, m'lady. General. If ye have a need I'll be down the row." Maahes would not be a foot in his back he'd take or the stares of the sow in a dress. Were it not for the obvious difference of some women in connection with the native population, he might have missed Shaden entirely. (d)
Shaden Aramoire: Laughing assulted the air, as she stepped from the small shop.. her arm hooked about the handle of a basket loaded with paper wrapped parcels, a shopping spree it would seem as she meandered and trailed with almost lacidasical manner as if enjoying her jaunt all the more.. smiles freely gifted to passer bys' with most charming effect.. caused more than a few men to stumble and one to practically walk into a post supporting a tent that covered a myriad of retrive some of the produce soothing the merchant with smiles and honeyed tones.. it was upon hoisting her skirt up to gather some of said.. produce.. that she saw Kendrew.. and blushed gracefully.. seemed everytime the man apperead he got a show of her stockings and garters..(d
