-:- Takes place before To Start Anew in Griffin Castle -:-
Kaelyn: The day was sunny and wonderful, unable to resist Kae mounted her large black warhorse Baran. She had missed riding him now that he belonged to her Cousin Rhys, but as Rhys is unable to ride she thought to take him for a run. She wore a deep green sleeveless tunic shirt with black leather breeches, and knee high boots. Her sword strapped to her hip, she mounted the beast easily but would not be able to do so soon she thought to herself. SHe guided him on the narrow path that led away from her home to open fields where she could let him have his head and run. Her long golden hair was unbound and cascaded down her back in a waterfall of waves. A big smile on her face as they just entered the clearing ... she kneed the horse and he reared and took off like an arrow from a bow she bent low over his neck and looked like a Valkyrie... every bit the Nordic warrior she is.
Liliana: Sunshine and a warm temperate made for a smiling Liliana. Even the urge to be cautious could not keep her indoors on such a day. Nature called to Liliana, the sound of the wind whispering to her soul, and once again she bargained with the old gentleman to borrow his horse. For reasons of her own she was in high spirits and it only increased as she mounted the animal. Beige skirts were adjusted as she sat astride the horse, a warm smile given to the man,"I promise to be careful, sir." It was clear that he was not only worried about the horse, but her as well. After a word or two more she gently pressed her knees into the horses's ribs and it began to head off at a canter. The ride through Turas Lan was leisurely, but as she finally got out of the city she began to ride a little faster. In the white blouse and beige skirts, with ebony hair flowing down her back and copper skin exposed to the rays, some would describe her as lovely. Liliana on the other hand...would probably just laugh. Beauty was skin deep as the saying went and she believed it.
Kaelyn: The thrill of riding had Kaelyn laughing out loud... only the wind , her horse and wolf could hear it right now. If her husband saw he would have a bit of a fit her riding as she was in delicate condition and all... she chuckled the man was protective and she loved him dearly for it. her wild Ranger heart reveled in the feel of the wind and sun kissing her skin... her hair billowed out behind her like golden streamers. Her crystal blue eyes dancing with the freedom she was enjoying when she felt long before she saw that another approached though still a distance away. Yes her instincts were finely tuned and honed from years of being a ranger and warrior.
Liliana: Though the horse moved faster than it had before it was still quite a leisurely pace. Since she was still getting used to riding again, Liliana felt it best to take it easy. As a gentle breeze blew, strands of ebony moving into her face, one slim hand would be lifted to be shoved through the wavy mass. It had been years since she'd taken this much pleasure in simply being outdoors. It brought back pleasant memories of her childhood, of running through fields and laughter, that had a smile curving pink lips. Chocolate eyes were on the land around her, drinking it in, and it took her a bit to realize someone rode toward her. Stomach muscles knotted, nerves making her back straighter, as she'd give a light tug of the reins to slow the horse just a little.
Kaelyn: The rider came into view... Kae's mounting throwing dirt with every step it made from large hooves. Seeing the rider had slowed their mount Kae did the same, she moved him closer to the lone rider and saw it was a woman with no escort how odd?? Well not really she though for she herself was alone but she was not like most woman in these lands. A few feet from th rider" G'day ..." she greeted in a friendly tone or what she hoped was friendly.
Liliana: One would be able to notice that as the rider drew near some of the tension seemed to leave the slender frame. Though not all of it. Women could be just as dangerous as men as she'd learned in her life. The fact that she felt any fear made her angry with herself. There was no need. Hadn't she managed for most of her life to go about on her own? Deep down though she knew it'd take time to get past the fear caused by still haunting memories. Chocolate gaze would move appraisingly over the woman, the thought crossing her mind that she was pretty, and at the greeting a slight smile would curve her lips again,"Good day, miss." Liliana took in the woman's mount, a much better looking animal than the sturdy yet old mount she rode upon, and thought that her Father would have praised the woman's tastes if still alive.
Kaelyn: Kae's blue eyes looked the woman over quickly and she reminded herself to smile " I am Dame Kaelyn....call me Kae as most do." Kae offered with a graceful nod of her head. Kae reached to pat Baran's sleek neck as she watched the woman carefully. She was young with hair the color of a Raven's wing... and her eyes were pretty." Where is your escort?" Kae looked around wondering if they back a ways as her Knight's sometimes did.
Liliana: "A pleasure to meet you, Kae. I am Liliana Marishka. Most call me Liliana." There was not title with her words. Just a simple citizen of Skye. Liliana would smile a bit wider, relaxing a little more, as she realized the woman didn't seem dangerous so far. The question had confusion showing in her chocolate eyes before something the older gentleman had said earlier came back to her. Blushing slightly, smile turning sheepish, she'd murmur,"Oh, I do not have an escort. I did not see the need to bother with one just to ride on such a lovely day."
Kaelyn: "A pleasure to meet you as well Liliana." Kae smiled once more damn she was prone to this now maybe it was hormonal? Golden brows drew together slightly as Kae listened to her." True enough but one never knows when the need for one will arise. The lands are well Guarded but that does not mean danger is not around." Kae's tone was that of a concerned older sister now. Her hand rested protectively on her small bulging belly and smiled when she felt the tiny pangs of movement and her eyes lit with joy and her features softened once more. Kae was but four and twenty and yet seen so much and done even more. The sound of riders approaching and quickly drew Kae's attention hand moved to the hilt of her sword as she moved her mount to block Liliana's in a very protective manner one would not expect from a woman. "Keep behind me." Kae said in a firm but hushed tone as she whistled loudly... a white wolf bounded form the woods." If this is trouble follow my wolf back to my home and ask for Sir Raven... do you understand?" Kae did not want to scare her but... better safe than sorry. Kae could handle herself but to fight and try to keep and eyes on the other would be hard.
Liliana: Nodding slowly, Liliana was not sure what to think. It had been some time since she'd dealt with someone being protective of her. Ever since leaving the Canton's she had been on her own. Even before then none had been truly concerned with her safety. The last time anyone had been was during her childhood. Now though she was faced with an odd sense of being chatised and guilt assailed her for not having brought an escort. "Next time I will remember to bring one with me." Liliana was about to smile when the sound of horses had it freezing in place and chocolate eyes searched for some sight of them. Attention was turned to Kae though as she got in front of her and orders were given. The horse beneath her pranced slightly, from Liliana's nerves and the close proximity of the other horse, and she was forced to tightened her grip on the reins. Soothingly she stroked the horses's manes, her own fear making her heart pound, and she gave a quick nod to signal her compliance. If trouble occurred she'd go where told.
Kaelyn: Though she was pregnant Kae would defend herself and unborn child as well as the woman now with her,"If no escort can be found send a stable lad to my house and I will give you one." Kae glanced back to see Liliana nod her understanding as the three riders raced into the clearing to far still to see if they were friend or foe yet. Kae drew her sword and held it ready just in case.. and nudged Baran forward giving more space for Liliana's mount to settle down in. Baran being large tended to spook small steeds and Kae could see lily doing her best to soothe the animal she rode. The riders near enough now that Kae saw they were here Knight's that came towards them and chuckled, "Liliana all is well they are my men that ride here."Kae relaxed a bit and sheathed her sword as she rode forward to greet them.
Liliana: When the horse was moved slightly Liliana would breathe a sigh of relief. The horse she sat upon began to calm down some. Yet, it was still a little antsy as it was picking up on her emotions. This caused Liliana to feel that rise of anger again. Coward!, her mind screamed at her. Back straightening, she pushed her fear down deep and a bit of spirit could be seen flashing in her chocolate gaze. There was no more sign of timidness. She could not let the fear overpower her. Allowing such an emotion to have that much control was never smart. Kae's words and the chuckle had Liliana leaning slightly to the side to peek around the woman at those approaching. Looking at Kae quietly, a smile on her lips again, she'd murmur,"Thank you for protecting me." The woman had offered to protect her and that in itself was a kind gesture to make for one that was still a stranger. Liliana realized that she liked the woman.
Kaelyn: Kae gave Liliana a big bright smile "You are most welcome... it is a duty and a honor to do so again if need be." turning once more to the men as they brought their mounts to a halt before the two women. " M'Lady Princess... we were patrolling when we came upon another village in need of repairs from the mudslides and rain and were asked to bring you to see it as well ." Pagan said as he nodded to Kae and then to Liliana. " M'lady...." he greeted her. The other two nodded as well though said nothing. " Liliana may I introduce... Sir pagan, Sir Andras, and Sir Adrian.... Knight's of Argania and now of Skye as well."
" This is Lady Liliana..." Kae said to the Knight's and yes she just gave her a title.
Liliana: Liliana would move her mount out from behind Kae and pause it next to her, so that it did not seem she was hiding. Giving a warm smile to each man, not a word spoken as she did not want to interrupt the news they brought, she listened to their words. Mud slides? Brows furrowing, wondering what kind of aid people needed, she waited until introduced before speaking. Ignoring the title, not sure what to think, she murmured,"A pleasure to meet you. Is there any way I can help?"
Kaelyn: Kae listened a her men gave her report, no expression on her face. When Liliana spoke she turned to her, "Aye, I am sure there are things that you can help with ... thank you for offering." Looking once more at her Knights,"Lead the way... we can send for others if we need them once I see what we are dealing with."
Liliana: That her offer of help was not turned down was immensely pleasing. The people of Skye seemed quite a pleasant lot, in their own way. Slowly, day by day, she was beginning to feel as though not stuck in a strange land. Many had helped her and she wanted to offer what help she could back. Kindness begets kindness as the saying goes. Horses reins in hand, she listened to the conversation between Kae and her Knights closely.
Kaelyn: "Are you sure you go Princess the route is rough and in your condition?" Pagan questioned his deep voice sounding concerned. " Aye, Pagan I will be fine and trust if I was not I would not be going. I may be pregnant not an invalid yet." she teased. Details taken in as they continued to talk as they began to ride to the village. The terrain was rough to say the least and several times she looked over her shoulder to check on Liliana. The horse she rode though old was at least sure footed and if she thought it would not make it she would have one of her Knight's take the Lady on his mount. "How are you managing Liliana?" she asked drawing Baran to slow his pace. The beast had a large stride not many horses paced well... she smiled missing it these past few months.
Liliana: The words of the Knight, Pagan, made Liliana most curious as they began to ride. Was the Lady Kae ill? Never once did her mind drift to the truth of what he meant. Not that she wasn't intelligent. Liliana could count on her hand what she knew of the signs of carrying a babe. Even less was known on how one came to be with one. Adira and Mrs. Canton had done their best to explain what they could. Adira had not gotten to explain more due to her death and Mrs. Canton had not wanted to ruin her innocence by explaining more. Now her views on the whole matter were tainted and dark, but was that not life? As they rode over the terrain Liliana found herself focusing deeply on keeping her seat upon the horse. The animal itself was very capable, but as she was still getting used to riding...she was not. Hearing Kae's voice, chocolate eyes would move to the woman's face and she would laugh softly,"As well as I can. It has been well over two years since I rode. Will take me some getting used to again."
Kaelyn: "Andras... fall back and if needed put her on your mount." Kae said as Pagan led them to climb the ridge that would lead to the village. Kae was not sure how Liliana would feel about that but it would be better than having her injured. Andras did as she asked and fell back to ride next to Liliana and gave her a smile. Dark haired with piercing green eyes... he nodded to her " M'Lady" was all he would say for now as he let his eyes scan their surrounds ever watching for danger.
Liliana: Oh, she didn't mind one bit! It was actually quite reassuring. This way if she fell off her mount someone could catch her. Though she'd do her best not to do such. Smiling warmly at Andras and return his nod. Re-situating a moment, so as not to lose her seat, she'd glance around them carefully,"These mudslides, are they common to these parts?" It was a natural question. Liliana had heard of such things, but never seen one occur. Never once had she thought of mud as dangerous until hearing the stories from people who had been in such situations.
Kaelyn: Andras glanced to her as she spoke " Ach! nay not common but we had quite a bit o'rain a few weeks past and the ground was sae wet it just began to slide off i'self" His brogue was thick as porage at times like now if he spoke and did not think to correct it. Seeing her try so hard to stay seated he smiled " Lady.... ride wit' me?" he said extending his hand to her.
Liliana: His accent was not one that Liliana was used to, honestly. Yet if she listened closely she was able to understand what he was saying. As he continued to speak she found it easier and easier to understand though. Honestly, she loved the accent. It was quite intriguing. Liliana's was a mix of an english accent and a french accent, but nothing spectacular in her opinion. "What kind of damage has it done to the villages?" Had people lost homes? Loved ones? The thought was horrifying. Though to lose a loved one was much worse. A home and belongings could be replaced, but a person could not. When Andras offered for her to ride with him a light blush would appear, though hard to see with her copper skin, and she'd nod, one hand taking his to switch seats,"Thank you, Sir Andras."
Kaelyn: Their mounts stopped he easily slid her from her horse to his to sit in front of him. Strong arms came around her to claim his reins once more. " Nae thanks needed M'Lady 'tis my pleasure tae dae sae" he said as he blushed himself for he never bore a lady in front him save Kae and it was a wee bit awkward for him but he hid it well behind a mask of stoic grace. Kae was feeling a bit tired ass she was prone to do since she became pregnant and called a brief halt. Rubbing her face with scared hands she glanced to Pagan seeing his concern " I am just but tired so do not glare at me so." Kae now spoke in Argania to her Knight's. "The slides left there mark to be felt by many.... " she turned to see that Andras and his mount now carried Liliana hers followed them. The scene below them was one that tore at her heart to see homes destroyed and people who were tired and hungry trying desperately to find those that may have been lost.
Liliana: In all honesty, Liliana was not discomfited by sitting in front of him for reasons of propriety. Though such proximity to a man made her skin crawl for other reasons. Chastising herself for feeling this way around such a kind gentleman, she pushed the feelings away and gave him a smile. As they came to a halt she would look toward Kae, concern and confusion in her gaze as they spoke in an unfamiliar language. Figuring that it was a private matter she looked down at the sight below and listened to Kae's words. It was clear that many down below had faced much sorrow with the slides. A prayer was given for those who were missing loved ones and she resolved to help however possible.
Kaelyn: Kae hung her head as the thought of more lives lost filled her with a rage she could not release.Too many emotions and feelings swirled within her right now as she watched a mother cry out for her child...that did it! Kae threw back her head and let out a very primal scream ARRRGGGGGG!!!!! Pagan flinched as did Adrian for they were right beside her. Andras's hold on Liliana tightened as he heard the cry break from his Princess... " Holy Odin... she is beyond pissed!" he spat out and then quickly " I am sorry to speak thusly in fron' of ye Lady" his face flushed for sure now. Kae would never take offense to the language but Liliana was not Kae.
Liliana: Such a cry from Kae caused her to jump from surprise. Though not fear. She understood such a primal yell. Sympathy and understanding would flash in her chocolate eyes as she caught Andras's words. Nature was a cruel foe, striking when one least expected it and wreaking havoc that one could not stop. A foe that was solid and had shape was easier to fight than one that could strike unexpectedly and in many places at once. Looking over her shoulder at Andras, she'd grin impishly,"I do not mind such speak. I have found cause to use such words. At times there is nothing else that truly suits what one feels."
Kaelyn: As she spoke he could only nod at what she was saying. His heart clenched for his Princess as it has not been easy for her. Having been ambushed left for dead with no memory, her parent's murdered, a brother found, a bastard cousin who tried to kill her, pirates.... at that he stopped not wanting to know what they did to her. " Aye, at times tis true... you just have to say it nay matter what," Kae's rage boiled deep within her and she gulped air to calm herself to no avail as she spurred her mount to race downhill into the village below. She jumped from the horses back before it even stopped and looked around. The smell of death everywhere, destruction and chaos filled the air.
Liliana: Watching the way Kae raced down into the village on the horse, she'd murmur,"We should join her." Liliana did not know this woman personally and had only met her a short while ago, but already she admired her. Caring and courageous was two words she could put to her already. They were traits that one could be quite proud of. Silently she wondered if Kae blamed herself for what these people were going through? Nothing could have been done to prevent it from happening though.
Kaelyn: "Aye, we shall only a wee bit slower I think." he teased as he urged his mouth to follow the others. His grip tightened about her waist as they went down the steep incline. Kae in a small way did blame herself... perhaps they had been to slow in warning people about the impending slides?? She would always be harder on herself than anyone else could be... it was her way... she had led her men into battles to numerous to count. A warrior through and through..., she would give her life for these people.
Liliana: As they moved down the incline, Liliana let her chocolate gaze take in the state of the village. It would be hard to decide where to start in giving aid. Though the first thing to be done was to help in the search for loved ones lost. If any that were missing were still alive then they had to be found soon incase they needed healing. Once the mount was safely in the village she'd dismount and move to stand by Kae's side. For a moment she would be silent, looking at the desperate pleas in the faces of the villagers, then she'd murmur to Kae softly,"Now is not the time to live with regret for what has past, m'lady. It is the time to do what one can to help these people move on with life and to find joy in yet living." Afterward she hoped that Kae would not take offense at such words.
Kaelyn: Kae's knight's quickly spread out to help where they could leaving the two woman alnoe with each other. Her words brought Kae back to the here and now" Aye, ye are right Liliana." she said quietly her hand upoin the babe that grew within her. " Live is what we all must do, for that is the only way to defeat the demons of the past." Kae patted her hand and nodded to a small girl who was crying in the street " I see where ye can start first." Kae moved off to help an older man with his burden of a large bag filled with remnants of his life.
Kaelyn: The day was sunny and wonderful, unable to resist Kae mounted her large black warhorse Baran. She had missed riding him now that he belonged to her Cousin Rhys, but as Rhys is unable to ride she thought to take him for a run.
