Aslan Burning: What a day this had turned to be. With the storm still raging well into the night, Maahes was cold, hungry and soaked. The burning lanterns of the Briar Rose were a welcome sight to the General. The streets were flooded so muchboards were placed out along the walks to help traction. After the infirmary and any other building that needed barricaded, he had offered to buy a round of drinks. Pausing in his steps, the tall man who had little care of the mud turned his head to watch Lady Windsor. He would help her smaller stride anywhere that was needed as they walked the line of boards. He offered her his hand as one board was much further then he felt she could reach, and tried to speak over the rain. "All my life I was told of rain." His raspy voice matched the sounds of the thunder and was almost missed by the pounding storm. "I used to wish for it." As the desert rarely saw such a treat, "but now.." He lifted his face to look to the sky, the raindrops so large that they could almost hurt. "I miss the sun.". (d
Alika Windsor: Drenched to the skin was Alika at the moment, even after having hung her cloak up while helping the nurses earlier didn't do much to prevent to cold and rain that soaked clear into her very bones. And yet, after having done what she hoped would be considered something to help the people who needed it she felt warm, must be that warm fuzzy feeling one gets from being of use and it'd been a long time since she felt of use as well. Now following after the longer strides of the General and hopping puddles here and there she did attempt not to get anymore wet than she had but with the rain coming down in torrents (so it felt anyway to her!) that was an impossible task. She looked up from jumping one slick of mud to see the hand extended toward her and she took it gratefully, she didn't have the greatest balance in the rain with soaked boots and she'd admit it. Getting from the short board to the next with his assistance she strained to hear him over the rain and chuckled through it all at his words. "I, oddly, love the rain. Even now, believe it or not." [d]
Aslan Burning: "The Christian God is in the rain." He spoke much quieter and looked about as if trying to see his face in the sky. Moving then to the Inn, the door was ajar as if waiting for him. Rose the owner and he had a quick and easy understanding. She would cook anything he wished, and he would not start any trouble. Maahes had a knack for fights wherever he went. He hated open stares and how people distrusted him, and often gave them reason. The warm interior was lit by lanterns and though it was the middle of June a fire was burning; the reason for the open door. The hot air would be let out, but the fire would dry any wet travelers. "Lord come inside, the both of you." Her voice rang out against the storm, and he had no trouble following her direction. She would take any cloaks they would have, or wet clothes. Large blankets were passed out the soldiers, and any other who would pay for a meal. "Rose, this is Sir Windsor's kin. Lady Alika Windsor." He spoke to the cook, as he started to unlace his tunic. (d
A Greying Knight: Wet clothes clung to him, dripped off his short cropped hair, and well tended beard. Sword clanked at his side as he headed for the Briar Rose, leather covered feet managed to cling to the slick boards that made a semi path, long strides carrying him towards warmth and a place to dry off before he would head out into the rain again to find his way back to the Golden Harp. But for now he would come along after Maahes and Lady Windsor not really knowing either one of them but that did not matter, introductions could come once they were all inside and comfortable. He waited paitently just outside the door while those who preceeded him prepared themselves for comfort. (d)
Alika Windsor: She did not comment on the Christian God for Alika did not follow any particular one, she simply believed to let people choose their own beliefs and leave it at that. Sloshing through the last of the continual downfall of rain and moving in through that door, feeling the welcoming envorinment and she smiled at Rose as the woman was introduced, thinking perhaps someday she will meet a person minus the name of her brother somehow being included in that introduction. She always felt she was not her own person but sister of the great Balian and she was the lowly sibling! But no matter now. "Pleasure to meet you." Said as her cload was literally stripped off, and even her boots after it. Then moving to the side so as not to block the entrance and taking up a blanket, the strip of clothing stopping at her boots, as much as she'd like to rid herself of all the horridly wet clothes, that would have to wait until she returned to the castle for the night. [d]
Aslan Burning: Turning his gaze over the room he searched for a face he had not seen since the rain started. A hint of worry passing over his brow he would move to stand by the fireside. There were so many clothes hanging over the mantle, one more tunic didn't matter much. Maahes was not bare, though he had no shame. He was raised in a land where the body was a tool, not something that hid behind clothes. Though the rest around his homelands hid their form behind yards of fabric, the ones of the Arena were closer to the Egyptian heritage. From the edge of his chest down he was wrapped in bandages so tightly fitted he was reminded of what the women wore. It from a stab wound that seemed to find no reason to heal. The blade had been dipped in poison as the assassination attempt on his life nearly took it. The substance on the dagger's edge kept it from truly ever healing fully. Turning then away from the fire's light, his silhouette filled the room. "Rose, whatever they both wish, bring it." The woman glared at him for a moment. "..please." He muttered under his breath. Rose turned to both Alika and the new face--waiting their reply. (d
A Greying Knight: Jonas lifted a dark dripping brow but simply grinned. " Mulled cider if you will Lass." He asked with a grin, the low rasp of his voice heard as he stepped inside the room and divested his cloak and over tunic leaving him in chain mail armor and the tunic underneath. It would have to do the chainmail was too cumbersome to remove and then put back on. He offered a nod of thanks to Maahes in thanks for the offer of the drink then found himself a place as close to the fire as he could without crowding anyone else away from it especially the Lady.(d)
Alika Windsor: Moving further into the Inn she quietly found a place to sit, near the fire to dry and warm a bit. Her gaze turning to Rose a moment and she didn't even need think on it. "If you have any available, a hot soup would be heaven right about now." It truly would, she was so cold inside she felt as though she may never be of a normal body temperature again in her life. Staying as well snuggled into that blanket as she could manage and the temptation was there to crawl right into the fire place but the fact that she liked being among the living and unburned kept her from seeing that thought through. [d]
Aslan Burning: "Mulled cider is not enough to warm old bones." Maahes spoke out to the man, "bring him something with substance as well." Rose was used to Maahes tone, and took it not as harsh or any of the sort, but understood where he came from. They both liked to see people eat, to know that none were left starving or wanting of anything else. As the older man stepped to the fire Maahes gave a heavy wet pat to the man's back as he moved towards the bar area to help carry out the dishes. Two large mugs of hot tea were captured by large hands, as he motioned Alika to the fire to sit with the older man. "You need to be dry. I will not have you ill Lady Windsor." Boy Maahes was talking a lot, but it was his nerves that kept him so. The harsh Beast of a man was in an internal war right now with himself and the closet thing he had as a sister was in danger. It was a secret battle he kept to himself, but one that would claim his life.(d
A Greying Knight: Jonas grinned and shook his head. ' Just a wee bi' then Thank ye. If I ge' home tae the warm stew M'Lass is cooking up and dae nae have room for annae she will skin me alive." He said with a bit of a grin before offering his hand first to Alika. " Jonas Robertson M'Lady." Once he shook her hand he would offer it to Maahes once he had finsihed setting the items in his hands down. He knew who Maahes was, you could not work with the young Knights of Skye and not know whot he general was, he was a point of facination and admiration for the young lads. (d)
Alika Windsor: Scooting closer to the fire on that request from the general she looked up to eye him a moment. "I'll not get sick if you'll call me Alika and not Lady Windsor. If you refuse then I shall will myself to come down with malaria." Then turning her attention to the man who intorduced himself as Jonas she held the smile and did the whole handshake thing. "Alika Windsor. Pleasure to meet you on this fine night." A bit of sarcasm there as most people would think this a night not fit for man nor beast but she liked it, the rain could go on for days and it wouldn't bother her much. The only thing that would be changed is she would be dry, not soaking wet, but she couldn't have everything she wanted in life, having been learning that the hard way for years now. [d]
Aslan Burning: For a moment the General held back from shaking the man's hand, an old habit he was working on, but the man's hand was shook with a bow of his head. "General Assad Aziem, but they call me Maahes." A name that had stuck with him from birth, but was not given to him by his mother. It was the ancient Egyptian term for Lion, and was represented from the God of Justice. Fit no? After letting go of the other he tucked his hand back into the fold of his arms, as they crossed his chest. In secretly he was running his thumb over the tips of his fingers, trying to escape the feeling of another's touch. The teas had been placed on the table that was closest, but for now a tired body was not ready to move away from the fire. "Alika it is." He spoke quietly with a small smirk. (d
A Greying Knight: Jonas smiled at the woman. " Pleasure tae meet ye." Then let his gaze settle on Maahes. " I have heard of ye through m' Nephew Caden. He speaks highly of ye, tis an honor tae finally meet ye face tae face." He took up his drink and sipped at it though his gaze would move to the open door when the clank thump was heard, brows rose... could that be who he thought it was, apparently the Urchins bath a few nights ago with Malachai had did him little good, once could likely hardly tell the creature had been bathed recently. (d)
Alika Windsor: Alika went as far as to stick her tongue out at the general. Not the most proper thing to do, but she was not exactly a prim and proper person no matter. A grin afterward at Jonas before the clanging caught her attention and so of course her gaze swung around to the source before a brow was arched but she spoke not a word and went back to eyeing the general again. Curious about why he always stood the way he did. The body language simply screamed something like a sign that read "no tresspassing". She was no professional at reading people but when one did the same stance day in and day out it did become somewhat obvious but for now she held back with the prying questions. [d]
Aslan Burning: It was more then a sign, it was a "touch and you'll get your teeth knocked in sign." Touch was forbidden, unwelcome, and unwanted. The warm fire was almost too much as he finally started to dry.
