General Maahes- He had wanted to be in the company of trees for days now as the celtic countryside seemed to be void of a true forest, so a path between the ocean and the marketplace would be the closest they would come. The night was dawning quickly and with that the overhead light was fading. Though, Maahes had no trouble in the night, Aislin may have, and the last thing he would want would be for some rumor to be started and return to Eamonn's ears. He had not offered her his arm, he was working on the manners but he wasn't putting them into practice. Plus, this woman had seen him naked, stitched him shut, and was hit by his first..they were past formalities. Spending the day in the barracks of the soldiers the day's work had been light. He had observed for the most part and even though the sun was boiling high he hadn't even broke a sweat. However, that would not prevent him from preparing his body for the exchange he had been meaning to make between the healer and himself. Clean clothes, and a washed face walked beside her. His heavy steps and long strides would often pass her, and leave him a few feet ahead, yet he would turn and let her catch up. At first he started out quiet, features falling still and the rest of him screamed out with his nerves. His thumbs on both hands ran over his fingertips and teeth carefully bit down on the skin inside his mouth. Amber colored orbs looked black as there was little light to fill them with life, like they sank in to his skin and into the back of his skull. A mind was working over the right words, the right way to bring about this little flaw he had; only proving more that the big bad wolf was a little afraid of what was to come.
Aislin Creed- Aislin did not mind the walk about towards the forest or any where else. Unlike Eamonn, she held little to no fear in places of nature. She had spent a reat deal of her days in the forest, looking for roots and other plants to help with her medicine when she had lived in Inverness. The sun was sinking, leaving the colors to splash along the skye and the beauty of it was not missed though there was little need for commenting on such. Aislin fell into silence right along with Maahes, for he would speak to her when he was ready. Many would worry on going off to a place that was far from the crowds when with someone like Maahes but the thought never truly crossed Aislin's mind. One long braid moved over the right shoulder to trail down over her small cloth covered breast and towards her hips like a tightly bound pet snake of some sort. ocean eyes were brighter with the departure of the sun, making them almost haunting to look at. Maahes was getting ahead often, making Aislin pause on the final time and bend over carefully to hike up her skirts, showing the long extension of her black worn boots that reached to her knees before she tucked the lower ends of her dress up into a sash around her lower waist so that those boots were exposed and flashes of upper thigh were as well. Aislin truly had no modesty when it came to the body. It was human and all apart of what nature gave them. Picking up the pace more, she met with Maahes and waited still as they moved. The eased path turned into a bit more of a un solid ground but both seemed to keep their balance. It had to be the feeling in the air, or perhaps Aislin knew more then she let on, either way she finally was the first one to speak.`` Take ye time Maahes. Ah be the last person in the world to ever judge ye or any words ye have. If ah was a seerer, ah would simply say there was no need for words and we could simply walk in silence.`` That firm voice spoke as ocean eyes stayed ahead along the trail they were heading down along. Slender fingers moved in front of her and laced themselves together in a clasp for comfort.
General Maahes- She was by far one of the few women that stood tall enough his neck did not straight to catch her eye. The contact was important to him, in many ways more intimate then any other. This was how he communicated when words were not able and touch was forbidden. So when he would still his steps and turn to face her his tall frame closed the sun from her form as it sat at his back. Perhaps Aislin over all could understand the most of how he worked, Eamonn seemed a pretty close match. With a heavy inhale a massive chest filled with air, and exhaled with his raspy deep voice. "I've not had the chance to tell you how sorry I am." Spoken all at once, but so still. His words were careful, soft, so full of his apology one would expect a tear to be trailing his cheek. However, Maahes has now cried 3 times in his life, and last night had worn him through. "I would have never hit you had I known, I wouldn't." Words sounded as if he were trying to convince himself as well the woman before him. Yet, that single action had drawn a realization up at him, that had his rest scattered and mind going through a warfare. He was exactly as they had wanted, a warrior, a ruthless cold blooded killer, and proof was how easily he could strike out at the opposite sex. Maahes had not had the chance to speak to her about the topic, but perhaps she had seen in his actions alone to Eamonn that he had tried to make things right. So many times since the fight had he wanted to call Eamonn out. Now that he was healed the fight would be a bit more..even, and he'd get his revenge. However, the Avarian realized that in the other man's shoes, his actions would not have been very different.
Aislin Creed- Aislin never assumed she knew people for who they were until she truly got to know them on a deeper level. How far her and Maahes' friendship would go was unknown at this point. It was not on a bad track though compared to her thoughts. When Maahes stopped, Aislin still moved only to pause as she saw him turning and backed up a bit so he could move in front of her. His larger frame was blocking out the sun, so when her narrow chin tilted upwards and eyes found his, there was no narrowing to them and she could see him as clear as the on coming night would let her. That calm look took her face over as normal, but her eyes said a small bit of something different. Curiosity. It took all she had to stop her right full brow from rising up above her ocean colored eye and simply hold her face normal and still. Finally, that husky baritone moved out and gave an apology. It was not such a shock, but truly un needed. Still Aislin would not pause him in his words and would only listen for now. the emotion that came from his words and seemed to be in his form and voice was not something Aislin was alien to, but still she had a hard time connecting with it. In many ways, it made it difficult to understand and then, she could on a smaller level. Aislin remained silent for a few moments longer, trying to find the best words to say in response. She wanted to simply tell him it was nothing to worry on, but he had went through all this to say he was sorry and he meant it, so she did not want to slap it down as if it meant nothing. Should she touch his arm? Should she smile? It was slightly awkward, but Aislin could do this. She had done such before.``Thank ye for yer apology Maahes. Ah assume, it is nay every day that ye give such out, so ah will nay take this lightly and it is taken with respect. Ah never blamed ye for such. Ah want ye to know, my husband's anger lays only within his chest, nay mine. Ah respect ye Maahes and ye was only trying to defend yerself as a fever took ye. No other can truly understand that save a healer. Ah know, if ye were nay under the fever, ye may have prevented such or tried.``
General Maahes- Now here was the part perhaps she wouldn't take so kindly to hear, but it was simply how he was; Perhaps she would understand. "Had it been any other healer I would not have felt as I do." He stood there still, unable to allow himself to relax, and he almost forgot to breath. With his confession, the stone features on his face where just that. Flat and void of any kind of emotion. Such a quick change, from raw feeling to nothing. However as he continued he lightened with each truth exposed. "You have not treated me like a child, nor an animal. From the start you've respected me, and given much of your time. For that alone means much. You, healer, have given me my life, and took my payment without refusing your aid. Even after your face turned as dark as the night, you still wanted to help." Remaining at his sides, his hands relaxed, and one even started to fidget with the fabric of his pants. "There are not enough words, or days in a life that I could give to repay you for that alone. "My respect and duty will rest with you." Maahes was raised where women were but toys, and aids to a man's life. So very few were ever treated with such manners, Tommy and Bess were about it. Her husband was one of Skye's most noble protectors, but here Maahes was showing his wife more respect then that man would ever get. Perhaps over time, it would grow stronger, but for now the book was closed on those two. "I can not begin to thank you enough."
Aislin Creed- Ocean eyes never left his darker almost black ones, as if she did not want him to feel like she was not paying attention. Indeed he had all of it at the moment. Those words, well they did mean something, but it was not such a harsh set of words to deliver. Aislin did not trust other healers at all, it was why she did most of the work when it came to those of larger title and closer to her. That may seem harsh to others as if she were saying her skills were not good enough for everyone, but that was not the case. She did heal others who came within the healing hall without question. Ocean eyes finally drifted down his stiff form to see the figiting and she knew that all these words were not coming easy to the man. It was why she said nothing and simply let him get them out. Each sentence made her a bit more confused and yet, she understood. It was not a easy place to be. `` Ah do nay trust other healers, so ah can nay say ah would blame ye.`` a pause was given as she thought on it. She had no need to treat him as a child, for there was no evidence to support that fact. He was not wild enough to be a animal or at least from what Aislin had seen. Of course, if that was how he wanted to be remembered, she could say such. She would have liked to say she did such because she cared, or because it was what she did best, but the truth would always be, it was what she knew and she had tried to escape it once, only to be thrusted right back into it. Such words that followed were tried to not be taken lightly.`` Maahes, ye will never be a child again. Those times have passed and part of me wonders if ye ever were truly a child to begin with. As for being a animal... the question comes to mind.. is that what ye wish people to see ye as? or do ye wish to be remembered for something else? A bruise, heals as does a broken bone. All things heal, though not always will they be the same. As ah said, ah will never blame ye for such things. One day, ye will return such in another form. Everyone does. Yer respect, means a great deal to me and remember ye have mine as well. Ye have thanked me once with words, there be no need for more. In truth, ah do nay do what ah do for thanks, nor do ah do such because it makes me happy to see people live. I was taught nothing but this... ah have tried turn away but fates will nay let me. Know...that if ah can heal ye.. ah will every time. May ah ask, why do ye act as ye do among others and then in private here with me, do ye act different?``
General Maahes- Her questions came at him like a spear that he could not dodge. She had asked him how he wanted to be seen, and why he acted the way he did. So a mind would go racing to put together what was the truth, and not what she wanted to hear..or perhaps what he wanted her to hear. The truth was he deep down didn't have an identify. He was just a sword with a name to so many, and for so long he started to believe that. From his first breath he was just that, a number. It was not until Anulia had he even had a name. The Egyptian word for Lion, Maahes. It fit because that was how he was seen. He was represented and often pinned against the pride of a nation; to this day wearing the necklace she gave him--the claw of a lion, he had destroyed with his bare hands. He didn't mean to be so different, between the sets of people, he just wasn't like them. He didn't share the same love for life as they did. Nor a passion for anything other then his trade, and even then it was so natural that it wasn't enjoyed--just lived. "I.." He started but stopped raising dropped eyes back to her, as he had been lost in his thoughts. "I've never thought about it. I do not know what I want people to think, or see." Before Avaria he hadn't even cared if people liked him, and though that had changed much he preferred to be on their good side then their enemy. He was tired, and it was clearly shown. Ever since the poison, Maahes just hadn't been the same. His skin wasn't as dark, and he slept much more then he used to, his body taking longer to recharge. There could be a number of reasons, but deep down he knew he'd never fully recover from that attack on the shore. It would be his undoing in the years to come, but for now he had an army to build. Her words twisted like a knife, not of pain, but of realization. He needed to do some soul searching. Outside of battle he didn't have any other interests or passions. "Do I act so different?" He asked her with question in his eyes. "It has been a long time since I have had a lesson. Tommy has been..busy." To put it mildly.
Aislin Creed- Aislin had not meant to pin down the General with questions of his life, way of being or what he was to become. Curiosity always got the better of her in the long run. How little she knew of this large man before her. How similar they were and yet, held their differences like everyone else did. A brow rose when he said he was unsure how he wanted people to see him. He had been upon the earth for some time, surely he should have some clue. Of course, that went back to judging and Aislin was not the type to do such. Changes had been noticed because Aislin was a healer. It was her duty to notice things and Maahes skin color, the way he moved and acted were all taken note of. He had refused her service though, so there was little she could say. ``Aye. Ah do nay know what secrets lay within that cage of flesh ye have, but ye do act different. Ye are sincere here with me and ah have seen ye with heart of some kind only one other time. It seems that when a crowd is near, ye lock up everything within yerself and because that beast for protection. Ah be no one to judge. Do ye noticed that ah rarely smile even when my child be in my arms? Do ye noticed that my husband forever touches me but ah do nay always reach out for him? Remember and look to others. Each has a flaw Maahes. Ye nay be the only one tainted by life, however, ye are lucky to even feel anger. Ah can nay even feel that.`` Aislin did not grow emotional. While others would break down and cry, Aislin stood perfectly still in the presence of the beast. Her face never changed, never wavered. ``Lesson? Ock. Ye need no lesson Maahes. Ye should think on how ye want the world to remember ye. If ye do nay care what they see, then so be it. ``
General Maahes- He would give no explanation of his fear of closed in spaces, as that life was long gone. One thing Maahes was good about doing, was not dwelling in his past, just dealing with the footprints it left on him. Roderick was a sick man, who used his sick mind, to toy with a mind almost pure on any other feeling then the will to survive. In turn making Maahes's mind sick, and embedding in him something he had never felt-fear. Over time it slowly would get better, but for now he would just need his space. His head canted lightly as he took in her words, and realized he had only seen her reach out to her husband once, and that was to stop him from taking his own heart out. He locked his eyes into her own then, until he stared so long he feared he'd burn a hole. Silence fell over them as he couldn't reply. He had already started to think of what she spoke, and work out what was needed. In this little staring match, he could not prevent his lips from curling. A smile, that turned into a grin as he realized he had left her there; silent. "Would it come as surprise to learn I wouldn't care?" He spoke through his little show of emotion, and without knowing it, letting her see he felt more then just anger.
Aislin Creed- When dark, blackness stared into her pure lightness, she did not even blink. There was no fear behind those eyes, no love, desire or even anger. Nothing almost. Aislin often wondered if she had a soul, or if it fled from her body a long time ago. Yes, Aislin loved her husband. She had cried when he was dead for many reasons, but even still it was hard to be as other females were and show him such lov and affections all the time. It seemed Eamonn would have it any other way as it were. The smile was missed before she was looking to his eyes. `` Nay. For neither do ah. `` A small flex of her full brows followed before she turned back around, giving him her back as her arms crossed over her chest to start heading back.`` There is but one question ah wondered. Ah can figure out the commander, but what ah can nay figure out is why Anulia was in yer room and never left yer side. Who is she?`` It was true, Aislin rarely seemed to take interest in the darker skinned woman, but suddenly, Anulia was there and never left. That was strange to Aislin. She did not even know if Maahes and Anulia knew each other or not.
General Maahes- With her back given all sign of anything other then a complete hard ass faded. He hated to be turned away on, but as the anger crept up and he rose a hand to stop her, Maahes stilled himself; learning control. He would then start walk with her, more then willing to get back to Galen, and beyond ready for bed. Maahes had not known she had been there the entire time, and inside he felt himself grow warm. He had been so distant from her, and for no reason. Yet, here she was standing by his side. A sudden chill replaced his flesh with bumps, and he'd close into himself but with a slight smile replied, "My mate." A simple word for the truth. Anulia was just that she was to bare a child with his blood and that alone.
Aislin Creed- Aislin did not mind the walk about towards the forest or any where else. Unlike Eamonn, she held little to no fear in places of nature. She had spent a reat deal of her days in the forest, looking for roots and other plants to help with her medicine when she had lived in Inverness.
