Aislin Creed-Mid day had left the sun shining and the skies clear of any ill mannered weather. With the passing rains, all the flowers were open and ready for the drying sun shine to come down and grace them, warming petals and stems down to the core. The ground was no longer damp, but moist, having been replenished from the rains and already sucking the liquid into itself to thrive and send up new blooms of flowers and fresh green grass. It was one of few days when Aislin and Eamonn could find true peace. In two weeks time, Aislin would be traveling and leaving behind her husband and child to go seek more medical knowledge on islands near by. She was taking this time to spend with them as much as possible. Echo and Finbar were not far from the trio, grazing on the fresh green grass and moving about, free of their saddles to romp and play if they wanted. Aislin had laid a plaid black and white blanket upon the ground that was big enough for her, Sorcha and Eamonn to rest on. Sorcha was wide awake and as adventurous as ever. That small head of light brown hair was rose as she watched the butterflies not far from where they sat. They went about their own little world, collecting nectar and showing off their wings. Sorcha laughed and spoke loudly towards them as if they would communicate back ."AHHHHH! Oohhhh Ah!!" Aislin found herself snicker at her baby's attempts to get them to come to her before Sorcha rose up on her hands to do a push up and began to rock back and forth. Her version of moving though she stayed on one spot the whole time.
Eamonn of Eohmark-Signs of Spring and Summer were taking hold of the lands of Skye, and the weather was turning fairer each passing day. Rainfall was a common trait in Europe, though this time it came in the form of droplets and was but a cool sensation opposed to the bitter chill of winter. Time went on, as it always did, and each passing day, his little girl was growing stronger and stronger. Even now she could hold herself up on her hands, and look up her world with a curiosity that matched her mother. Eamonn could not be more proud of his beloved daughter. Eamonn was truly smitten. With news of his wife leaving in two weeks' time, Eamonn would hide his own feelings on the matter to spend what days he had with his family, while they could and had the time before she would set upon a ship for 'days', as she so claimed, though part of him doubted her trip would be so short. A month, maybe more. Today he purposely took off, leaving his armament at home, keeping only his sword, which was strapped to Finbar's saddle upon the blanket. Clad in the loose tunic and breeches, he rested on his side, hazel eyes watching the actions of his daughter, and daring a small smirk. She was so keen...it fascinated Eamonn. How quick she was learning motor skills and getting better at it each day
Aislin Creed-Aislin too would be clad within baggy male breeches and a loose tunic upon her body. Why wear a nice dress and spoil it? She was not even sure how much adventure they would get in to today. Sorcha's big blue eyes stayed on the insects, going from one to the other as her little thin mouth hung open while she watched in awe. Giving a grunt, she moved to rock herself again and this time she rocked too hard and went forward, only to move her hand quickly to catch herself. Aislin had to strain herself to not lean forward and grab Sorcha to steady her, as her hand reached out to make sure her husband did not do the same. "She will need to learn on her own husband...we need to watch." Light ocean eyes shifted towards Eamonn's as she moved to lay on her side, mirroring his own image and placing her head close to his. As if getting it..Sorcha moved her other hand clumsy forward and stumbled a bit, but she did not cry...instead she landed on her belly and wiggled, holding her arms and legs up as she moved side to side, forward and backward in one spot. She even bobbed her head as if that would propel her body to slide on forward and off the blanket to the grass. Moments later...something in the grass caught her attention and she stopped to coo and gurgle at it. A grasp hopper was making his way through the mild grass, moving too fast for her too grab but slow enough to see.
General Maahes-Long overtime hours worked well into the night, making the Beast look forward to the trip ahead. Many days would it take to reach the destination planned for an execution, and Maahes always slept very well with the rocking of the ocean below the deck. He moved from the streets to the path one had pointed where the couple had taken refuge alone, and guilt pained him to even bother. Yet, they were to set sail soon, and there was a matter of importance he could only find the answers within their reach. Perhaps manners were not his strong suit, but where he lacked in smiles he made up for in the dark depths of his eyes; today they were a bit lost and perhaps even depressed. Amber colored hues found the pair just where he had envisioned as the miller told of their secret escape. Like a fairy tale a brave knight so took his fair maiden to spend a lazy afternoon in peace. Stories he always read about, but never quiet got the chance to live. War and death started the book of Maahes, and so to would it be his end. His shadow would fall over the pair before he would speak, but as his lips parted he caught site of the child and stilled. Such beauty almost too perfect, and Sorcha was one of the most beautiful babies he had ever laid eyes on. Suddenly he had lost all attempt at his voice and felt awkward just standing there, yet so silently he stood.
Aislin Creed-Another soft chuckle came from Aislin's wide lips as she watched her daughter get it only to surrender to the ground and wiggle about as if she were stuck. Only when she heard the presence of another did she glance over her husband's side to see the overly large dark skinned male making his way towards them. Aislin gave a nod towards him before she looked to see where his eyes were and then looked back to him. One would think he had not seen a child before. Well, perhaps he had not truly, since he was always moving around and had none to call his own. Did Maahes even have a wife or woman? It was a moments thought before it vanished, not being her concern. "Evening General. How do ye fair today?"she asked in the even toned voice while ocean eyes stayed upon him, making her head tilt up.
Ark-Thunderous hoof beats could be heard pounding the ground growing steadily closer and closer. Finally coming into view would be that male everyone loved to hate, Arkanis, bare-backed a top a fine while horse. Had he stolen it? Or perhaps found it wandering around the forest. Didn't really matter much to Ark either way. The sun beat down on his frame and gloved hands gripped the mane tightly. Finally reaching the others, a smile grew on those lips at the sight of Maahes. Perhaps Ark was going to be able to witness a good ol' fashion beat down! Then Maahes' expression was seen and that boyish grin faded. "Oh well...", spoken through a soft sigh while heels loosened up on the horse's sides and it would begin to slow down. It stopped about ten feet from Maahes and neighed at the release of it's sides and hair. With a swift dismount Ark shooed the animal away. Funny thing was the animal never chose him, but Ark simply took the horse and put it to use. Higher up on the food chain Ark was and he'd be damned if a horse would deny him. Hand was lifted up above his head to block out the sun when he looked up a bit to the general. chyt, he looks serious. I better follow suit. Would be all that went through his mind. Hand dropped and without a word crossed his chest. Ark did the best he could to look serious, but it wasn't really his style. The coy and sometimes evil man simply just was too smooth to be serious. Well maybe just too damn stubborn.
General Maahes-His fists would ball at the sound of the beating hooves, had this been a trap? When his dark gaze would shift from the child he would move to stand in a ready-to-fight manner as the figure couldn't be made out. Call it habit, call it loyalty, this was just simply who he was. Leave it to Ark to ruin his mood, and put a damper into plans. It was what the stand in ranger was good at. "Personal business Captain, move along." There were many secrets that perhaps Ark had noticed about the military's position over the lands. In secret men were selected and prepared for the coming battle while some would simply stay. Five men were to be selected, Ark would not be one. His quick temper and lack of direction would have cost him this trip, however it was his skill and ability that kept him a tight hold at the lead. Maahes had not even realized it but his hand was at the small of his back fingers dancing over the latch that kept his curved blade in place. Perhaps that was habit as well, as Ark had at once been on the wrong side of this wall. This was a sign he was sure, that the pair was just simply not right for the task at hand, and deep down he tried to convince himself that. Aislin and Eammon were in fact perfect and he would have no other way out. With time growing short, and a visitor the words spilled from Maahes like a flood as he turned back to face the pair. "At Dawn, we sail in an attempt to defeat our once Overlord and regain my companion." Best friend was more like it, but those titles didn't somehow fit. Destin was a very very very deadly man, and has shown his upper hand many times, so this was one of the first battles where the Egyptian born was actually very nervous. "Galen is very found of you." Spoken to the eyes of the healer, though directed to both. "My mind would be at ease knowing that he would have a place should I not return." There was nothing behind his voice, just a simple raspy deep tone leaving in perhaps a little desperation.
Aislin Creed-Aislin had always been the voice between her and her husband. That would not change any time soon. While Aislin was blunt, she was easier on the ears then Eamonn and most could cast her off as a woman any ways. Ocean eyes noticed Maahes's change in stance before she saw Ark not too far away, un mounting from a horse that seemed less then happy. Seeing Maahes tense just as much as Eamonn, Aislin felt no need to do the same as Eamonn had already moved close to Sorcha. Rising to her fet, she left the blanket to walk old leather boots along the grass closer to Maahes though still keeping enough distance when she noted his hand and his words to the other male. Waiting, Maahes went on and turned to them to speak. Was this what he came here for? Pity. "If ye should nay return..he will have a place, be it here with Eamonn and ah...or with others. He will nay be left alone. " It was the only promise she could give, for she would be traveling soon as well and she could not make a choice that would have to be her husband's should she not return from the sea. "Is that what ye have came to ask of us? Nay to come and talk for a bit?" Aislin asked with her left brow perked upwards at the words. It was evident that Aislin did not fear the man. Why should she when she would not do him wrong? "Ah hope ye can....regain yer companion..." Aislin was not so sure the woman wanted to be regained, but such words would not pass from her mouth.
Eamonn of Eohmark-It would seem that the fields had become a popular place today. Now, Eamonn was pondering the idea of next time, staying within the lands of Eohmark for their time alone, where he knew that no one would bother them unless it was of great importance, which Eamonn also knew had to be the driving force behind Maahes' visit. So, even he was curious as to why the General of Avaria was here seeking both of them out. The sound of a horse approaching turned his gaze from the tall man, to another, one that made him instantly tense. His company was one that Eamonn did NOT want around his child or wife, and thankfully Maahes said something to hopefully make the man leave. Hazel eyes briefly glanced to the sword attached to the saddle not too far away. Good. While Aislin rose, Eamonn was content in reclining on the ground. Why should he get up? Sorcha tugged on his tunic, but hazel eyes were focused upon his wife and the General. At the mention of Galen, a brow arched. The blond boy. Though he would not admit it openly, Eamonn was starting to enjoy the boy's company, for he had a good heart, that was evident even to him. Aislin spoke, and once she had finished, Eamonn nodded. Of course the child could stay with them, who was he to turn away a child? He would not want another to turn his daughter away if he had to leave for war. "Your son shall be well looked after." He commented, before his hand reached out and pulled Sorcha closer to him still, until she was beside him, leaning into his chest and abdomen as she reached for those strands of blonde
Ark-Those eyes widened in disbelief at the general's harsh tone towards him. Ark's eyes then narrowed and those arms dropped to his side clinched in tight fists. It seemed as if there wasn't anything he could do to please anyone on this God forsaken rock. For a minute he stood there listening. Of the military action he had heard nothing about and the plan to do this and that which he wasn't informed of. Anger began to swell within the male. Clinched hands shook while his gaze shifted from Maahes and then to the other male. Right now just killing one of them would make him happier than anything under the sun. Then something came over him. Call it luck on Eamonn and Maahes part for keeping Ark's cool. Soft breeze blew across his neck and it was as if he could feel Brennah there with him. Her soft touch to his arm was not but a tug of his cloths in the breeze. Eyes closed and a tight gulp was given. Calmly Arkanis turned his back to Maahes, but spread his legs about a foot apart and kept those arms at his side. A position of dishonor that Maahes and other warriors would recognize. "I've held my tongue, my temper, and done ALL that the king and my general have asked. Still it makes not a difference.", Ark felt another breeze and gaze lifted up to the sky and he just exhaled softly. "Take your captain position and give it to someone more 'trusting' and 'deserving'.", oh the sarcasm in his voice. Just like that his leather boots would send the male walking back through the grass and towards the forest from which he came. Brennah was after all depending on him to watch over her.
General Maahes-There would be a polite bow of his head in the direction of the pair, but dark heavy eyes passed over Ark like a hunter on the prowl. Maahes was running on about 2 hours of sleep this entire week, hasn't been able to taste a good from thoughts tormented by the road ahead, he carried the weight of someone's past and a key to unlock her void but could not bring himself to unlock it, and on top of that a man whom he has hated from the get go finally turned his back on the Isle-held the only women he'd be willing to cut his own heart out for- was raging war across the sea on the King. So with the words of Ark could come a low deep throaty growl as his lips snarled over his teeth. "Don't turn your back on me, boy." Lord he was already ready to slit throats. The Muslim would trail in behind the man like a shadow moving in silence away from the pair and their child. "You will attend to your duty or you will be removed from these lands." By his own hands no doubt. He would follow the man to the edge of the wood and let the peace return to the couple; beyond ready to hand this one his ass.
Aislin Creed-A nod was given in return as Maahes' attention was taken astray by Ark who gave up a title, or some such. Aislin perked another brow as the male walked away and Maahes seemed ready to snap, walking after him. A thought to get involved slid around her mind once and then was let go. Had she not been with child, she may have told the men to go their opposite ways or even stood between them to ease the violence from the valley, however, that was not the case and as most women should, she thought on the growing person inside her and simply let them go. Turning back to her husband, she sighed and spoke again. "Ye should go after them. Make sure they do nay harm each other or at least no one else that may walk within their path. These be yer lands to protect...ye have a right husband to see the matters that are held here.."
Danae Galanos-Danae wasn't exactly sure where she and Merick had walked to but the Head Ranger's keen sense of hearing kicked in and she heard several voices off in the distance. They looked to one another with a curious gaze and off they went. Half way there, Merick would gently grip Danae's arm. "Commander... let us turn back now. I already see you undoing tthe handy work of the Healer now and it is not necessarily." Danae paused and looked to him, single brow lifting before she gave him the look like he should know better. So Danae continued on, slowly coming up on all the others. Merick on her heels. The Grecian woman was dressed down tonight, no weapons on her or so it seemed. Anyone that knew her, knew better. She was always armed even with the smallest of weapons.
Brennah Teagan-The raven haired woman would be as curious as a cat as she spotted to others from Avaria taking off in the direction of what seemed to be a field. Leave it to this one to follow in behind as un noticed as could be. he trailed off a good distance so hopefully she wasn't noted but upon closing some distance between herself and those ahead of her, she could hear the voices of both Maahes and Arkanis. Brennah gave a shake of her head and thought to herself. "Dear God..." And she would continued to make her way closer, just not as quickly as the Commander and her companion.
Eamonn of Eohmark-Eamonn simply sat back and watched. Apparently, Ark did not feel as if he was being treated fairly, and decided to make a scene of it now, instead of taking the matter up with Maahes privately. Was this man stuck on stupid? Eamonn rolled his eyes. Apparently so. The way the man spoke to his commanding officer, and the turning of the back, Eamonn even saw that as disrespect. A solider was NEVER to turn their back on their men or commander. The two walked off, no down Maahes going to pound the man into the dirt for such actions. When Aislin returned, he arched a brow. Go after them? Why? "This does not concern Skye. The man was disrespectful, and whatever Maahes does to him, it is deserving. I know my duty and my rights, wife. And right now, they are protecting Skye and my family. Neither is involved in this." He replied, simply, before turning back to Sorcha and rubbing her back with that large hand of his. Others wandered off towards the two men, and Eamonn would let them, saying nothing. As far as he was concerned, the bastard deserved whatever Maahes was going to do to him
Ark-Maahes had dared to be bold. When followed Ark simply snarled and turned to face him, "My duties are with Brennah and myself. You don't trust me and still wish to keep me in the dark." Ark stepped a bit closer to the taller man and kept those arms at his sides near his swords just in case Maahes decided to attack him, but still he didn't suspect Maahes of such. "You my friend are afriad! You are afriad to trust anyone.", Ark's words getting lower and lower each second. "I have the same dreams, the same beliefs as you. Hell we even use almost identical sword styles. I've accepted your position in hopes of gaining honor with you and respect through me carrying out my duties." Those eyes then narrowed and he didn't move from his position, "So Egyptian, I dare you to throw me out of these lands for wanting the same thing you want." Hands then moved to those straps covering each handle and Maahes wouldn't hear them unsnap. Perhaps Arkanis wasn't going to attack him. The smaller of the two dared not to back down. People would be surprised at what Arkanis was able to do even against a larger foe.
General Maahes-His arms would fold over his chest as he listened eyes only leaving the man's for a moment when Danae took her first step inside the ring of fire. Arkanis was one very brave man he could at least say that, anyone else who knew Maahes; knew the danger that came along with backtalk. However, he stood there silent and listening. Like a father hearing out his rebellious teenager for the first time he took in the man's words and stored them for a later day. "Are you finished?" He would say after the man seemed to stop and very slow calm steps would circle the archer as he continued, "These things you want so badly, Archness can only be gained by respect." That one he learned the hard way. "Respect you are so eager to be given, and this is how you are going to repay me for giving you that chance to earn it?" Such a mountain out of a small hill. Though anger was clear Maahes did his best not to show it, and his voice was level and calm. When he would stop once again before the man his taller frame would bend to meet his eyes. "Go ahead, take your shot." Maahes would let his hands fall to his sides slowly, but would make no attempt at finding his own sword. This was his test of trust, and his life would go with the fail if Ark so wished to win. "You were once an enemy of Avaria would you be one again?" That would come with the death of a General, but here was his chance.
Aislin Creed-Aislin's thinner lips frowned before she looked back towards the others and watched closely. She did not go back to standing, waiting to see what would happen should anyone need a healer close by. When more came, Aislin rose a brow and watched on, wondering where all these people were coming from. Hm. "Next time we will just stay in the fields by Eohmark." she commented more to herself as she watched the large male circle Ark in the distance.
Danae Galanos-As Danae moved closer, she had already felt the tension some ways back. She would simply look between the two and then to Merick before back to the others. Danae would not say anything for now, for this did not involve her just yet. Merick would stay beside her, ready to defend Danae should Arkanis decide to get testy. His Commander was still healing and would do what was needed to see that nothing hindered that. Danae's wild pale blue eyes watched Maahes closely, knowing all to well what would happen if Arkanis made a single wrong move. And as well and as close as they were, not even Danae could save Arkanis from Maahes' anger once it was unleashed. True, the woman had showed guts in proving herself to the General with nearly braking his jaw with that right hook but still. Here Arkanis was on his own.
Brennah Teagan-Brennah would finally make her way close enough to see and hear enough to figure out what was going on. Soon she found herself standing on the oppisite side of Merick, watching and the look on her face was one of concern no doubt. She simply let her bright blue eyes shift back and forth from her friend Maahes to the one she had come to consider more than a simple friend Arkanis. She looked to those that were in the distance upon the blanket and then back to the men with the tension growing thicker one could slice it with a dagger.
Ark-Ark's hands didn't move from the hands of those swords. Easy enough it would be to give the man a quick slash across the throat, but even easier to move back and fling a dagger at him. In his current stance, Maahes, wouldn't be fast enough to stop anything he would throw at him without taking considerable damage. The pins on those handles quickly unsnapped and almost faster than thought possible those two swords were drawn and flicked to stick in the ground at Maahes' feet. "I told you when I took this position you could trust me.", Ark didn't move towards the sword and instead just looked to Brennah and smiled. "I don't need your position to feel important or to need a reason to fight.", Ark's eyes trailed back to Maahes, "My reason to fight happens to just have black hair and beautiful eyes." Ark also fought for Galen and Willow. Those who saw good in him when others didn't. Arkanis didn't give respect to power, but to people who he felt deserve it. Still he stood there in front of Maahes not even making a move towards those two swords. It was his turn now.
General Maahes-That would be enough of an answer for him as he moved then down the path towards the shores. He had a mission and had not the time for this. Dark eyes passed to Danae as he passed and he would motion her on to follow. She would have her duties too.
Danae Galanos-Danae continued to watch and as Arkanis made his decision clear, so did Maahes. She would catch that look from Maahes and looked to Merick, both would turn and walk off, leaving with the General.
Brennah Teagan-Brennah however would then move off to stand beside Arkanis. All she would do is stare up at him, let her hands come to his forearm and gave a slight squeeze. "Come... let us go for a walk.?"
Ark-Arkanis nodded and turned to pull those swords up out of the ground and place them back in their sheaths. Would he ever get respect from Maahes? Head shook and then he moved to entwine both his arm and fingers with Brennah's and followed her down the trail.
