Set In Her Way: The Parliament at Blue Castle was as much of an infant as the foundling government, for first it had been only a council of lords, but for all to have representation caused quite a stir. Ah, to say the pot boiled over would be the adequate truth. Free to redeem a larger portion of her former duties, Beathag had spent the morning listening to the heated, intense debates that were sparked by the Duke's call for change. To rue politics was one thing, but to be impressed by it? Why, that had been the miracle of men who indeed were able to work together in accepting and offering additional ideas for the ratification of the Duchy's law. Knowing their Grace's were the final authority didn't deter them from abject honesty. Taking all this in thought, she would tour the Blue Castle's impressive architecture, the first building to be deemed in Renaissance fashion, out to the impressive Blue Gardens to feel the air of a spring day (d)
KaelynRose01: ** The morning sun cast a golden hue over the horizon, as though the God himself had lit a candle and placed its guilded light within this little corner of the world. Darkness lingered somewhere beyond the bounds, but here in this little province all shadows were banished. It was almost surreal..... it was surely perfect. Even the breeze the ruffled through Kaelyn's hair carried a whisper of the sun's breath upon it. The scent of flowers filled the air within the garden, it was their first appearance together since the wedding. Kae and Raven had come into the city to look at items they would need for their home. Seeing what appeared to be a garden Kae could not help but to migrate to it. She loved gardens and the way they brought peace to her mind... as they had as a child. Being here with her husband made it just that more pleasurable. Smiling she tugged at his arm to follow her, she was wore her ranger garb of a white tunic, black leggings and black boots. Sword at her hip dagger at her waist and her and the world's brightest smile.**
Knights of Skye: Yes yes shopping for their home he would start building within the next couple of weeks. He had been more then willing to oblige his wife. A breakfast muffin of warm bananna nut and spice in his hand nearly dropped as she tugged on his arm, he gave a half protest until he caught it just
in time shoved the last of it in his mouth so he would not chance loosing it again before he got to eat it then chuckled as he followed her tickling her teasingly. He enjoyed the gardens as well but would never admit it.
Caden: As each person came into the garden another would see them, ok two others. One the young blonde boy, newly Knighted. The other his constant friend and companion the beautiful sleek tigress that seemed to grow more and more every day. She was not quite adult sized yet but she was getting close. And at the moment one would not think she were a wild cat but a lap kitty as she sprawled across Caden's lap as they sat in the gardens.
He had brought her here for a morning walk before Lady Eirian woke and his duties would be to escorting her where she wished to go. (d)
Set In Her Way: The romantic gardens were walked not to the whisper of a woman's skirts, but to the confident step of well oiled black leather riding boots. A large shirt had been fashioned, embellished on the sleeves with trim to denote the difference in the sex that wore it, creeping vines and knotwork in golden thread twisted over sleeves and neckline. Her waist was
cinched in pleasing figure's reveal by emerald green cloth, while all the golden hair of the Lady Griffin had been twisted into a braided coil around the crown of her head. No politicians were here, no. Let them all be kept inside while the glory of labyrinth mazes, fountains, and greenery could soothe the most harrowed of souls. People meandered on pathways behind the buildings
from one garden to the next, where no streets, horses, or business could detract them. The only garden not reachable on the network of passage ways was the gardens of Griffin Castle, but somehow they had paths to all the others, which was how her Grace came down today. Coming to a corner, she saw the arrival of three and offered them a warm smile to greet them (d)
KaelynRose01: ** Kae laughed softly as he juggled the remainder of his muffin and the popped it into his mouth. His tickle was unexpected and brought a giggle to spill from her lips as she spun and wrapped her arms around his waist. She rose on her toes to place a soft kiss to his lips. "I love you." she
whispered. Then regaining her composure she turned to see Caden and Lady Bess within the gardens as well and smiled at them " Good day Bess... Sir Caden." in her voice her happiness would be heard and in her blue eyes it would be shown. Her hand laced with the larger one of Raven's she led the way closer
to them.**
Knights of Skye: His laughter was rich when it was heard only to be silenced by a kiss. He murmured against her lips then whispered back. "I love ye tae my Beauty of a Wife." He smiled then chuckled more when others were spotted. Though his his hands remained on her waist following behind her. When
Bess was recognized he gave a respectful bow of his head. " Good morn M'Lady." Then a nod to Caden as well. " Sir Caden."
Caden: Caden grinned at them the dimples in his cheeks apparent. He stood guiding a grumbling Anna from his lap much to his amusement. He ruffled her fur good naturedly and then bowed to lady Bess. " Good Morning my Lady." then a greeting to Raven and Kae as well. " Good morning Lady Kaelyn, Sir Raven."(d)
Set In Her Way:"Good mornin', good company, how fare each n' all? Tis a fine day tae beh out. At last! Nay rain ,nay gray ,clear n' bright as crystal as befits the spring.." Beathag stood in a rare state of absolute contentment under the Turas Lan sun. Whatever it was, let it last this while, she thought, for too often could beauty be splintered with a disturbance. "Och, n' good mornin' Anna.." Wry grin was for the tiger who accompanied the lad as a dog would follow his master. Hither and yon, up and down they went every day. It certainly gave color to court gatherings when audience petitioners observed Anna chasing some small bit across the hall! "Wo tis e'eryone about taeday?"
(d)
KaelynRose01: **Kae smiled " Raven and I were just out and about and stopped by the gardens to enjoy the beauty the day had brought." she said waving her hand at all that surrounded them. She bent and clapped her hands to call Anna over " My how she has grown Sir Caden." her voice soft as she called Anna to her to be able to pet soft fur. " How are ye this day Bess?" eyes sparkling as she looked up at her friend from the kneeling positon she was in to play with the tigress. **
Knights of Skye: Raven smiled from his position behind his wife, letting go of her reluctantly when she bent to get Anna's attention. " Aye shopping for items tae fill th' house I will build for her." He chuckled.
Caden: Caden grinned. " Doing verra well M'Lady. Though I would
take Anna out to stretch her legs before Lady Eirian awakes and has need of us." He had gotten a missive that morning requesting that he become Escort to the lady. The details were a little jumbled but the fact that he was needed was clear. At the attention Anna first went to Bess with a purr and pushed her head into the woman's hand, then trotted over to Kae to allow her attentions as well. (d)
Set In Her Way: Makin ye home is it? Sae Sir Raven how much o' ye funds has ye lady sequestered away, aye? Ye a poor man yet, iffn sae we may need raise ye coin tha' ye collect lest ye lady purchase ye out o' house n' home..though Ah dare sae a market excursion sounds a fine thing..all duties beh fulfilled this day already.." on mention of Eirian, however, her brow puckered just a slight, "Iffn ye'd dae tha' Caden, twould be fine. Ah've seen tha' all the homes in the country n' villages 'ave ample sheriffs from the baliffs n' tourin watch o' our own Griffin Army. Ye've heard, Ah trust, o' the fate tha' Chieftain MacRae met. Would nay wish such thing 'pon any other." (d)
KaelynRose01: ** Rising after giving Anna her attention and once more lacing her hand into that of her husband Kae looked to Bess. " It seems the word is going around and there are some who are very angry over the Chieftain's death." Kae glanced over to Raven " M'Lady if need be I can have some knight's patrol the outer perimeter where our camp is located and search for the one
responsible and if needed Raven and I will join the search." her tone had changed as did her body language. She was a knight now and would do all to uphold her oath. " If there is anything we can do for the Lady MacRae please let us know."**
Knights of Skye: At the talk of what was going on Darius was pulled from his own private musings, especially when he heard the tones change. He lifted his head and nodded in agreement. " Aye if there be annae thing we can dae please le' us know."
Caden: Caden nodded. " Aye M'lady." Came his answer, brows
furrowed for a moment. He had heard something about Laird MacRae and made note to look a little more into it then just passing news. Anna, her attention gotten she came back to Caden's side and sat with her head pressed into his
fingers which idly twitched and stroked to oblige her. (d)
Set In Her Way: "Ye both shall have patrol o' the woodlands, the fields, n' such places about the cit y proper, should the fool be sae daft as tae seek his way there. He is tae be brought back tae m'lord Husband alive, those beh his implicit orders, alive 'nough tae answer in trial, sae we may root out the last o' the ill wot plagues us. Now, how..damaged he beh," she interjected, "When he arrives is at ye discretion. Let him nay harm ye or others, but allow him tae recover. If ye would send ye allied troops tae report tae the Griffin garrisons along the wall tae beh properly briefed, ye may send them amidst the villages tae help the sherrifs with law enforcin'. As for the Lady MacRae, we will send mayhaps three tae four men who shall, along with Dame Brynna o'ersee her safety until matters beh resolved. As we now speak,"
she bid them walk and talk, talk and walk, for her mind began to turn now and always moved better beyond the castle alls, "There is some, matter o' a delicate nature tha' I think best we speak on now." (d)
KaelynRose01: ** Kae placed her fist over heart and gave Bess a nod of her head " Aye, Lady it will be done as Lord Adam wishes. Our men will report to the garrison as soon as can be arranged upon our return." Kae followed as Bess led the way for them to walk "Please tell us what this matter is my friend and if we can help then we shall." she matched her steps to Bess's as the
Lady sent the pace for their walk. She met Raven's gaze as worry flashed in hers briefly.**
Knights of Skye: Raven fell into step just slightly behind the women and to the side so he could keep watch going from husband to Knight in a breath. His eyes became watchful as he followed allowing his wife and his Lady to talk and he would listen carefully.
Caden: Caden frowned and fell to the other side of Raven, Anna
walking along side him matching his step her manner going from lazy to lazy and alert. (d)
Of Sea And Sword: The Spainard Gentleman would do his morning routine of getting his men up and about, there were things that were needed right away upon his ship, throughout the docks, and in the city. While his crew saw to those orders being carried out, Marcos would go and seek out the Duchess of these lands and to speak with her about how the church handle a matter last night. He was not at all happy about it and wanted to make sure it was brought to the Duchess and her husband's attention. When he asked a guard on where he might could find the Lady Duchess, they directed him to the Blue Castle Gardens, even escorted him there. Marcos was dressed his best as always but more so when he was to be in the company of Royalty. First impressions meant much to many and he intended for his to be a good one. Upon arriving, he ran a hand through his dark hair, palms over his vest and jacket and then to the hilt of the rapier on his hip. The guard moved forward as Marcos awaited presentation and introduction. "M'Lady Duchess... there is a gentleman here that wishes to speak with you. He says it is of most importance and seeks your company right away." The guard would tell her as he waited a chance to speak when the others were done. <d
Set In Her Way: The Duchess wasn't royalty by any sort of birth. Her hands had the ghosts of calluses now that the ladies had gotten a chance to tend them, but rest assured they would return. Adam and Beathag were of a different cut of the nobility, though they wielded a great deal of power. Second in land ownership and power, according to the books, only to the sovereign of their country...they were little below their own principality. In the wake of all that had occurred one need not see men at arms to know the pair were closely watched. "Ah want tae tell ye," she began," n' ask tha' wot ye hear be dealt with in the utmost discretion..." Words were cut short. Turning on her heel, she saw the approach of a guard and gave him leave to speak, "Is tha' matter imperative? Tis nay mah time tae take audience but if it is of the utmost...show him this way." (d)
KaelynRose01: **As Bess began to speak Kae gave the matter her full attention... " Aye Bess as always it shall be done so." she turned when the guard came to announce someone waited for Bess. She moved to stand next to her husband and the young knight, giving way to the other should they be led in. There
would be time enough to hear the rest of what was to be said.**
Caden: Caden Stepped back but his hand went to rest on the blue stone that graced the hilt of his sword. It rested there idly but ready none the less if needed. His other hand rested on the back of Anna who had stopped as well. He would have agreed readily that what was spoken between the four of them would stay that way but the interruption came and would wait for when
the time was yet right again.
Knights of Skye: Raven placed his arm around Kae as she stepped back to him giving Bess the space she might need to speak with the one that saught audience with her. He did not fully relax his stance though and would keep a close watch, though the feeling of threat was not there, it never hurt
to be cautious.(d)
Of Sea And Sword: The guard would nod, turn on his heels and come to show Marcos to the Lady Duchess and her company. "Lady Duchess, I present to you Captain Marcos de La Costa of Espaina." With that the guard would step aside
and return to his post. Marcos approached the woman and her company, giving a deep bow to her. "Buenos Dias Your Grace." He turned then to the others and offered to them a dip of his head. "Senora... y Senors." Then his dark gaze of deep brown eyes shifted back to the Duchess. " Please forgive me for interupting anything that was of importance. But I came on behalf of the Lady Eirian and need to speak with you about it Senora Duchess...." He gave a uneasy look to the others before continuing. "It is of a personal matter and must be
discussed privately I am afraid. However, if now is not a good time I will gladly come back when such is possible." His hands going to rest behind his back as he stood like a man with better manners than most probably saw. Yes, he was a man of the sea, but he was a good man, honorable and had the utmost respect to those that he saw deserving of it.<d
Set In Her Way: "Good day, Captain de La Costa. Tis the first audience we've had o' a man from Espania. Come, let it be heard.....wot..on behalf o'the Lady Eirian.." That was when her brow perked and her voice affirmativly went to the negative, " M'gathered knights n' court shall beh discrete, as ye can
imagine...one nay beh left unattended with the unknown, but if it be on Eirian, speak plain. Wot has befallen, speak up man!" She immediately became concerned, and began to rue the argument the pair had just mere nights before. He instructed the Captain and all gathered around to sink further into the gardens as the news would be told, "Wot news have yeh on behalf o' Eirian.."
(d)
ATartanHeart: ~~ She wore a black velvet gown with tha' sash of tha' MacRae colors across her chest, also she wore a burgandy velvet cape. Walking quietly to where she heard hushed voices, perhaps wit' luck she would find Her Grace, for she had much tae relate tae her of tha' happenings last eve. She walks tae a bench and sat down quietly, her gloved hands clasped in her lap ~~ (d)
KaelynRose01: ** Kae's hand as well rested upon the hilt of her sword as she gazed about. The guard brought the man forward Kae nodded as the man greeted them " M'Lord,Captain... 'tis nice to see you again." she said politely. As Bess spoke and began to walk deeper into the garden she followed walking back a bit with Caden and Raven, giving the Captain and Bess the lead. Her eyes scanning always scanning looking for movement within
shadows as old habits died hard. That and there was still one person looking for Kae that had not been dealt with at least yet.**
Knights of Skye: Raven followed beside his wife as they moved to a more secluded area for a private conversation. His nod was given to the Captain both in greeting and affirmation that what was spoken here stayed here between those gathered and would go no further.
Caden: At the mention of his Lady Mentor the lad stiffened and
his hand tightened on the hilt of his sword reflexively. His tension was fed to Anna and she gave a restless growl before he gently quieted her and forced himself to relax. He wanted to ask, wanted to know, wanted to rush off and speak to the woman who had become teacher, friend, and nearly family to him.(d)
Of Sea And Sword: His brown eyed gaze moved over the others and then back to the Lady Duchess. "Senora ...your Grace, although it is not my place to tell you of the news she was given by my own mouth I feel it necessary to do so as it will help you to fully understand the events that have occurred since
then." He cleared his throat some and would offer his arm to the Lady to steady her walk if it was needed. "I came two days ago... with news of her husband the Lord Kushrenada." He paused and looked her way with sorrowful eyes before returning to the path before them. "It seems tradgedy has come to pass. No one has seen nor heard from the man in quite some time. I myself was to meet him at two ports, he did not show to either one." He swallowed hard as he knew it was difficult for some to hear the news he was about to say. "Many of us think he to be...dead." He looked to her once more. "There is no trail of paper work to show where he was last seen, nor to where he might be headed." He waited a good few moments before continuing. "Now... as it is not like me to pass judgement upon one when matters of the heart are made clear, I feel she has
been denied what is rightfully so to be had. She is a woman that deserves for her heart to be cared for and if this means by a man in the absence of a man that failed to do so when he vowed it then I say the church should not judge so harshly as they did last night." He began to become angry again at the thought of seeing the woman's heated cheek where the nun did smite her. "One
of your nuns did put hands upon her...smudged the beauty upon her delicate face. I did not like it and went with her to see to the matter myself." He glanced to those behind him. "Senora.... I can be honest here and say that perhaps the way I did it was not as well as I could have."<d
Set In Her Way: Beathag did not turn her court, in fact those sworn under the Griffin banner, away. Let it be known that her Grace was heavily guarded for the Duke, nor any, would see it any other way. A word, a look, could summon more men than an assailant bargained for. Though they would never come near
a woman who looked as she did as each moment the tale grew more sinister. Be damned! She should have listened. She thought it was Eirian's lonliness that made her foolish but it seemed the girl's senses were correct in assuming she'd been left behind again. What honor she may have smudged could easily be righted by observation of the law to intervene, but how would it intervene in a matter of the church? They would recognize the lighting flash in her eyes, the stoic face as she stood. Muscles tensing, she bellowed, "WHAT? Sae
ye tell me...they dared tae strike any, let alone a lady o' this court, n' one far along with child?! Wot matter o' way is tha' fer thems o' tha ' faith tae treat one who comes tae' them fer counsil, if this is common' sae help them, Ah'll root out any tha' e'er laid hand.." She was aghast, disgusted! "This will beh dealt with, NOW. If more happened, tell meh now..fer either way
they will be dragged from tha' cathedral." To drag a member of the cloth out of a holy place..what if they cried sanctuary? Already the guards on post were beginning to look between themselves, "Nay one beh above the law on this earth, they appease MEH n' MY DUTCHY, they can appease their gods in the next life..Caden...ye will gae intae the Blue Castle, n' tell them tae send out one ' the barrister messengers...tha' if the two responsible fer the crimes committed do nay manifest on the Church steps by the time m'party n' Ah arrive they will be taken out by force..Send out two ships...this shall beh the one last
search for Lord Kushrenada..see tha' such a message two, Caden, reaches tha' fleet.." She saw Moira there, how this must offend such delicate ears, "M'lady, Ah trust ye may come along, as a clans women ye shall bare witness...sae ye are summoned if ye've health enough fer it...." She was enraged..that much
was evident (d)
ATartanHeart: ~~ Rising from tha' bench, she walked quietly tae another stone bench...she heard Her Grace's outburst, an' knew it was nae good. Glancin' about.a thought came tae her, but she said nothing at tha' moment. "I can come along, tis upsettin' tae know anyone could lay a hand on the Lady Eirian. I am in good health Your Grace an' I shall go." Her delicate ears were naer delicate anymore, she had heard far worse an' witnessed far worse, but Eirian was her friend, it angered her tae know a bloody nun set her hands upon her dearest friend. Twas wrong an' needed tae be right'd at all costs. This sort of thing could nae go unpunished.~~ (d)
Emeritus Memoria: Apparently, news about the lands of Skye traveled fast, and it did not take long before the whispers were carried on the wind and straight to the Lord Marshal's ear. That was perhaps the LAST person that people wanted to get word to in the lands of Skye. So it seemed that wrongness rested not, and apparently neither did he. Even after the war of civil dispute,
there was always something for the Marshal to do, whether it be scouting borders and territories, or righting another wrong. If it got wind to him, Eamonn was going to do something about it. One of which had been the case of a murder. Eamonn ordered men to keep a sharp eye, while the Marshal went off to find
more about this. He had been to Turas Lan, but the Dutchess was there not. Well then where the hell was she? Such was the reason for his presence at the Blue Castle gardens. Chain links jingled as he moved up the steps of stone, the helm tucked under his arm and against his armoured body, leaving locks of blonde exposed. Hazel eyes turned this way and that as he stepped into the gardens, until his eyes landed on a familiar face. Bess. Others were noticed and acknowledged with a nod as he stepped up to his sister in swift strides. "Pardon the interrupt, Bess, but may I speak with you alone for the moment? I have
reports and heard wind that there has been a--" He paused, as keen eyes settled upon the unfamiliar Spanish fellow. His eyes narrowed a bit and a brow arched with a frown. "Who is THIS?" He asked dryly, no smile upon his face. Strangers were not welcomed with open arms to the Marshal.
KaelynRose01: **The Captain was talking of Zahak a man whom Kae had met in Inverness and worked closely with there. Her heart sank at the news of him being missing or dead. Her thoughts immediately went to Eirian... she felt the impact of his words like a hard punch to her gut... steps faltered as she
tried to keep control of her temper. Then the Captain said a nun had abused her friend and that was the push her temper needed as her eyes burned blue flames of pure fury. It was that very look that made many fear the warrior she was. Icy cold rage drifted off her to touch those near with chilled fingers ... her hand gripped her sword tighter until her knuckles turned white,. Eirian was with child and to be treated so went against everything Kae knew. She nodded coolly to Eamonn those he was not the reason for her current mood she was trying with all her might to keep her emotions in check. Bess's words brought a cold calculated smirk to her lips... Ahhh the white hound riseth when angered and that did not bode well for the receiver .**
Caden: Caden nodded sharply to Bess's demand a call to Anna and the two were off, Caden's blue eyes, normally warm and full of merriment and mischief were hard and determined as he headed off to carry out Bess's command. Once he reached the Castle itself he sought out the one person that could carry out what was bidden and the messengers were sent, one to the Church and one to the docks.
Knights of Skye: Raven felt his wife's rage, was angered himself. His hand came to rest on the base of Kae's back to reassure, a gentle pressure for her to focus on so anger did not fully take over. His hand went to the hilt of his sword, ready to defend in any way needed. Though he doubted it would be needed against a Nun. But one never knew. When Eamonn appeared
he dipped his head in greeting. (d)
Of Sea And Sword: "Si ... your Grace" He took in a heavy breath himself as he had wanted so badly to slide that rapier into the Priest for condoning such rude and uncalled for acts. As for the men that dared touch her with thier filthy hands when the Priest shoved her into them and called her a whore, well Marcos would see they got theirs too. If not by the hand of the Duchess it
would be by his own. More seem to gather around them and his brown eyed gaze moved to the woman in black. It was obvious she was the one the others had spoken on the other night with the loss of her husband and her child. When she came to join them, he would give a deep dip of his head and say to her. "
I am so sorry to hear of your loss Senora... my condolences." He then looked back to the Duchess. " I will gladly offer up my crew and my ship in an attempt to find the Lord Kushrenanda. And as far as what I speak being true... the proof be upon her cheek and the nursemaids within the infirmary tended to the swollen flesh theirselves. I escorted her there and once I had my words with
those of the Church, I saw her and a young boy to the rooms within the Guilds." He then looked as the young Knight went to see to his orders and then the approach of yet another. When the blond man asked who he was, Marcos would give a respectful nod and reply in his heavily accented words. " Buenos Dias Senor... I am Captian Marcos de La Costa of Espaina. A pleasure..." Then he would grow quite, awaiting the Duchess to
speak more on the matter and any other should they choose to do so. <d
Set In Her Way: "Save the pleasentries, Captain," she rhetorted. Rude? Mayhaps, but the White Hound' wraith would have its proper placement soon, " Tis by nay means a pleasure, the pleausure shall beh when Ah get mah hands on' those responsible fer this. Eamonn, The Captain has informed meh o' an offense tae the Lady Eirian tae gae amidst the other wrongs of the day. It seems tha' members o' the Church think they may accost anyone...let alone hit a woman with child. Wot e'er wrongs ye would tell meh of, trust meh, I know. They WILL be
righted this day, how'er. Captain, mark ye. This is mah brother, the Lord Marshall..until this matter be resolved Captain, speak little n' tread well 'round him. Thus far all ye say shall be proven honorable...sae, ride with us now ye will serve as witness Captain. Eamonn, ye may have a few people tae drag out taeday..." She went on her heel out to the garden steps so as to begin to emerge on the otherside of the Blue Castle, " The Lord Marshall shall have full gravity o' the law taeday, and ye, Darius, Raven, and Caden shall come tae enact his commands..Lady Moira ye will ride in beside meh left, " Of course the Lord Marshall was always 'pon the right in her presence, it went without saying, for it was always seen. "STEP quickly....Mah horse!!" Her bellows of course sent the servants at once to fetch horses, "HORSES FOR THE OTHERS" Yes, she was hot blooded, but quick, knowing they would be quickly behind. (d)
ATartanHeart:~~ She felt something was amiss...but she could nae put her finge....then she saw tha' devil man..he was aiming at Bess. Running towards Bess, she pushed her down to the ground....as the arrow came dangerously close to Bess. Moira "DUCK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! its an arrow...." ~~ She placed herself over Bess' body as tha' arrow narrowly missed them. She knew it was Devlin, but he was gone afore he could be caught.~~ "Are ye alright Your Grace? Devlin is evil and brash...he cares not about people or their lives." (d)
Set In Her Way: Now, if it was one thing Beathag did not take kindly too..it was the advent of weaponry shot in her direction. The woman was battle retired, but it did not make her unfit to do so if she needed to defend herself. After she was taken to the grown..hearing the name, Devlin..the man better not manifest infront of her.."Tha' is obvious, my lady!" She said, rather
abrupt and blunt, but given the circumstance who could be blamed? Before everyone else came to rush around..she stood up and made sure Moira was righted as well. Chrisitan God help those church folk now! "The Blue Castle Guard shall be dispensed n' capture tha' man! Take him alive, how alive he is when he bring him is nay mah concern sae long as he revives enough tae fufill the Duke's demands! Now......" She looked upward, knowing he heard her. Wincing a bit as the hip pain began to singe at the sudden drop in gravity, she limped around.."Ah believe we were on our blasted way somewhere......oooh...this will end taeday...all o' it will end taeday. His Lordship best stand ready tae try him......" She pushed the other guards off of her and around Moira, "Go ye fools! Dae I LOOK helpless?! Ye've a murderer tae capture n' Ah have other matters tae see tae....now COME" She took hold of Moira and placed her square to the side of her now..(d)
Emeritus Memoria: Eamonn had no idea about the situation and circumstance that Eirian went through, and had he, the Marshal might be paying a visit to the church to set things straight. Often times men of people hid behind a mask, be it a mask of power or cloth. Wrong was wrong, no matter the cloth. Having stepped in the middle of a conversation it seemed, he was still at lost for what those were speaking of. Did this have something to do with the murder he had gotten wind of? Eamonn arched a brow and regarded the man flatly. He greeted him respectfully, and looking the man up and down, a curt dip of the chin was awarded, and before he could say anything, Bess, who already seemed
tensed, answered. Good, because he was not in a mood to be much of a conversationalist. Hazel eyes turned to Bess. What the hell was going on? "Bess, what the hell is going on?" He asked, before the Dutchess was on swift feet to the exit of the castle and ordered for horses to be gathered. Things happened fast, an arrow from the shout of Moira. As people helped Bess, Eamonn's eyes narrowed, and he growled inwardly. Bess ordered guards to tail him while she had other matters to attend to. Had these people gone mad? Eamonn had enough. "Bess, would you be KIND enough to CLUE ME IN?!"
Ignia Ferroque: The day held no surprises as he and his too shadows neared the Blue Castle... he had heard that the Clan's representatives and the 2nd Estates were voting to align with the Avarians... the parliament was nothing but a popular vote for anything the Duke or Duchess decreed... still the royals had the say so... He had no idea that Bess and the others were here. Still garbed in his black surcoat and black light armour, it looked as if
he was ready for war, save his helm, shield, banner, and lance.
This parliamentary meeting was Adam's way of seeing which
direction the popular vote would go. Sidetracked as he
entered the castle, he saw Bess, heard Eamonn, he wandered toward the group... "Wot bae goin' on here?" ::::
KaelynRose01: ** Having just getting her rage controlled... Bess's words had her stepping into stride behind her and the others as they made their way from the garden only to hear the shout to duck rang out! Kae spun and drew her sword all in one fluid motion. Seeing Bess and Moira were alright she let her
gaze travel in the direction that the arrow had come from turning to Bess "Lady, are you alright?" she asked ignoring the others for now as her attention rested on her friend. Wit sword still in hand she reached the area once more as she waited... though she wanted to go see if there was trail to follow.**
Knights of Skye: The zing of the arrow heard as it sailed through the air. The sword drawn from its scabbard and he placed himself between it and Kae. He would have put him self between it and Bess as well if Moria had not already knocked her to the ground. He gave a frustrated growl low and menacing as he glared off in the direction of where the arrow had come from. Torn between going after the man and staying here. But then Bess was on the
move again handing out orders and those he would follow. He placed a hand on his wife's arm then both would move off to get their horses and that of Bess's as well to speed up the process.
Caden: Orders carried out and Caden would return, he spotted a
figure moving off away from the gardens upon his return but thought nothing of it having not been there when the arrow was shot. It was not until he reached him and heard the amounts of chaos that zinged in the air that he realized something was far more amiss. Anna paced restlessly as others came with saddled horses his own included. And then the Duke was there and
he gave the man a salute and greeting. He wanted to see justice done but then he also wanted to go to Eirian and make sure all was well with her, well as well as could be. He would do this first, then go see Eirian.(d)
Of Sea And Sword: "Si Senora Duchess, Seguiré su principal... "(I will follow your lead...) He replied as stepped aside to allow her brother the Lord Marshall and the others to follow as he would step in to be the last in line. Then eyes would narrow only to widen at the sound of the woman warning others to duck. As he ducked into a semi squat hand quickly moved to the hilt of his rapier and it was drawn with quickness and grace as he wheeled around in the direction from which the arrow did come. He moved as so to stand guard of the Duchess and Lady Moria seeing as how the others looked more than capable of defending theirselves. However, that did not mean the Captain would not aide them should it be needed. After the incident passed and
the Duchess made haste and made it clear others were to follow, rapier was sheathed and he continued to eye the surrounding area as his hand remained on the hilt. He would mount whatever steed they saw fit for him and ride to the Church and see to the dealings with the Priest and his company. That the Lady
Eirian would be righted for the wrong that had been bestowed upon her. Another man came to join them and he assumed this was to be the Duke. A deep dip of his head and a single word in greeting as the group made quick moves to leave the Castle Gardens. "Senor..." He knew there would be other times for proper introductions, but or now he wished to see things carried out and rightfully so.<d
Set In Her Way: The chaos and hustling confusion didn't bode well with the Duchess' immensly growing temper and broken impatience. Questions from all angles came, wantings of wishing to know who, what, and where. It wasn't that she was incapable of answering, only she did not do well with so may asking things of her at one time. "Yes, Ah be in one piece.." she said flatly. Around them, the guards of the Blue Castle were quick to attend the orders given to them. Men formed into rank lines two men deep to search every room, hall, and rise for the man known as Devlin MacRae, who would now be adding
attempted assassination to his list of growing crimes. Wasn't it obvious she was in one piece? Breathing inward through her nose, nostrils flared as she gave a momentary huff, almost snortlike. " Ah'm walkin, talkin' n' highly pisssed off sae Ah think we can rightly assume Ah be alive. Now." now that the Duke had joined their entourage, she'd begin..again, the purpose for it all,
beckoning a finger over to Caden to come and stand beside Moira. She did NOT want that woman unguarded for even a moment, last thing they needed was a murderd clanmen's wife! "As we gae tae the horses, listen quick. PEOPLE seem tae
think they beh above the law on this island. Murderers n' now church folk think they rule here NAY while I breath they dun. There was a matter at the Church n' church folk STRUCK the lady Eirian! They struck a woman, with child, a lady o' esttem, in the face. This shall NOT gae unpunished. Nay one is above
law on this island and they can atone tae their damned God in the here after...." Pushing hair out of her face..the woman mounted up just outside of the steps and told the footman, "Oh DAE LEAVE meh be! Dae I look helpless?!" She blinked, looking to the others, " Raven, Kaelyn, ye will gae tae look fer thi’ Devlin fellow..alive, remember, bloody n' bruised is damn fine by me.." (d)
ATartanHeart: ~~ Moira felt awful, everywhere she went, chaos found its way there wit' her. Wha' really angered her was tha' way Eirian had been treated by the church. It was outrageous. She was sittin' atop a horse as she awaited for Her Grace..She was sure tha' many clan wives would find fault wit this
kind of wanton behavior. She was one of them~~ [d]
Emeritus Memoria: Everyone continued to hound Bess. Poor Bess. She was walking, and shouting, which apparently meant she was just fine. Eamonn wanted to be clued in on what the hell was going on, and with the approaching Adam, he seemed to have the same questions. Was everyone here clueless? Did Adam and Bess not consult? Eamonn rolled his eyes at the drawing of swords again an arrow. What good would it do now? Shaking his head, he followed his sister out the door and listened intently as she gave some clue as to what happened. So someone had struck Eirian? While that was not enough to jail someone
immediately, it WOULD get a severe tongue lashing and warning. No one should strike anyone without reason. Which then again made him question as to WHY Eirian was struck. Seeing Finbar waiting, the Marshal swung upon the dapple stallions back and wheeled around to head to the church. Eamonn turned to a few of the other guards present. "YOU! Make SURE the guards COVER ALL THE EXITS. Don't LET ANYONE out of here without a search and seize." The helm was placed upon his head again, and buckled under his bearded chin. Hazel eyes turned to Beathag.
"Bess. DO keep in mind the severity of the offense. While this IS upsetting, punishment should not be akin to that of murder, theft, or any OTHER serious offense." Eamonn stated firmly, whether Bess knew it or not, he was restating it JUST in case.
Ignia Ferroque: Adam bowed his head sligthly to the greetings rendered the Duke... Looking to Bess, he agreed with her on the accused and punishment shall be as she deemed ecessary. "Dae as yae see fit, Bess..." he stood by his wife, allowing her to decree what she must. The pair worked together like a fine pair of gloves... ruling Skye with a fairness and sterness...and no pity for the stupidness... religion had no grasp here as did the rest of
Europe... and THEY would not let it get a hold here for sure...
Looking to Bess upon the horse, he holds his hand up... "Ah
bae ridin' wit yae..." ::::
KaelynRose01: ** Following Bess and mounting her horse as well. Bess giving them leave to search for Devlin " Aye, Your Grace, by your leave then." she said with a nod as she looked at her husband waiting for him to take the lead. They had lost some time but they were both skilled in tracking so they should be able to make it up fairly quickly. "If we find anything we will
send word straight away."**
Knights of Skye: Raven settled onto Seledorns back and hearing the order to go look for Devlin he grinned and nodded. Then looked to Kae then lead the way in the direction the arrow had been seen coming from.
Caden: Caden nodded at Bess's command then took up his stance beside Moria. She he would protect as long as she traveled with them. Anna padded along side Tuck, the black andalusian/arabian gelding that had seen Caden through the recent battles.(d)
Of Sea And Sword: Captain Marcos took hold of both horn and rear end of the leather seat, slipping his foot into the stirrup and with a single hoisting of his body, planted it firmly upon the steeds saddled back. Once his weight was well settled and reigns had been taken into hand, he would have the steed circle in place before following in behind the Duchess and the Duke on their way to the Church. He was so ready to see those people punished for a senseless act in the name of God. Marcos was
one that respected all religions, but even he knew when something like this was crossing the line. That wrong was wrong no matter if you were of humble origin or otherwise.<d
Set In Her Way: " Thank ye, husband, m'lord." She defered to him with much respect in the building that housed the Island's legal matters, showing all that were gathered that she knew what her place was when it was before the Island's lord. They saw how much power they levied together, as a pair, and one
thought similiar to the other. "Punishment shall be just, " she said to Eamonn, after all, she watched as half the archaic laws in use were amended! But that was another matter and neither of them enjoyed politics! "Hip, hip!" Her heels went into Caldonhan's flanks with enough insistence to spur the horse onward. People backed away as the large party would take off toward the place of the offense. Word spread of what was happening, and already the
curious came from the markets to stand outside of the Church for what would prove to be a historic moment, a moment in which no Papacy would be above the law on this island. The guard had the doors opened, and the clergy pair, the nun and priest, responsible were muttering something about sanctuary. Stern, cold and calculating she called, "The Duchess has grievance tae address this day! Ye shall come before meh, ''pon the order o' the Duke himself n' face judgement! If ye do nay come forward ye shall be DRAGGED out IMMEDIATLY!" The nun, so bold, so brazen only last night shook her head and went further back spitting out insults that they would dare defile the house of God
with their band of heathens, the priest instructing them to leave as if above all law. "There shall beh NAE a God or any MAN or WOMAN above the laws laid down! I defy your call for sanctuary n' negate it! Lord Marshall, will ye gae forward n' see those two outside onto the steps at once?" (d)
Emeritus Memoria: Eamonn turned to the riders that he had come with, who upon seeing and hearing their leader, were at attention and already upon their horses. One moved over and handed the spear to him, and a gloved hand belonging to the Marshal grasped the long and pointed spear before pursing lips and giving a sharp, loud whistle. Behind the Duke and Dutchess the small band of Éoredgerídas rode, the horse banner whipping in the wind as they rode to the church. Coming upon the building that harbored those that committed wrong. No one should strike another, not unless insulted or struck first. As Bess called out, Eamonn arched a brow, seated upon the back of Finbar. Hazel eyes turned to Bess as she asked him to bring out the offenders. Nodding curtly, he handed the spear back to one of his riders, and swiftly dismounted. Eamonn stalked towards the church. "TWO THAT RESIDE IN HERE HAVE COMMITED A GREAT INSULT UPON A WOMAN OF THE COURT THAT EVEN DEFIES YOUR GOD'S LAW. SHOW YOURSELVES, KNAVE, FOR IF I HAVE TO RETRIEVE YOU, I WILL DO SO BY FORCE!" He boomed, hazel eyes hard and cold as he neared the steps. A priest stepped in front of him, blocking him physically from the doorway, and Eamonn stared him down. "If you do not MOVE from these doors, I will MAKE you move. NO ONE should strike another without being first insulted or struck as well. If they do not come FORTH and attest to this offense, they will FURTHER their punishment as unwilling to cooperate with the governing body that has the INTEREST of your people here as well as MINE. Now MOVE." He growled lowly, making the priest swallow hard. Eamonn rolled his eyes and push past the priest. "I CALL FORTH THE NUN AND PRIEST INVOLVED IN THE MATTER OF THE LADY EIRIAN! COME FORTH AND EXPLAIN YOURSELVES!"
Ignia Ferroque: Riding behind Bess was unusual at best... but interesting to say the least... his arms wrapped around her lightly as the beast beneath them took hefty strides at her beckoning. As they arrived at the Church, Adam slid off the back of Caldonhan, adjusting his sword belt. Allowing Bess to serve justice... Standing aside, he stood out among the crowd... he appeared ready for battle, but this was by mere circumstance, not by planning... He could do nothing but smile as the Church had finally placed themselves above Crown law... it had been the
chance he sought to right what he felt was wrong... religion
had its place, and in governing people it did not. Religion
here would have no ruling powers except between the people and God... not government. Adam would interrupt, sea-green eyes narrowed... bellowing... "Enough talk Lord Marshall... bring
them forth.. all of them if ya have too.. then the Duchess can sort it out..." :::::
Caden: Caden spurred Tuck to follow keeping pace alongside Lady Moria as they followed on the way to the Church. He believed firmly in God, but he did not believe those of the Church were above the law of the land. Especially when their actions were wrong. Anna kept pace along side them growling from all the tension around her. A thought occurred to Caden and it
actually made him chuckle as they stopped before the church and Eamonn was sent in to retrieve those who balked at receiving their punishment. He doubted they would hesitate to come out if Anna went in. the thought was amusing. (d)
Of Sea And Sword: Marcos continued to sit upon the back of his steed as his dark brown eyed gaze settled on the sight before him. A smug of a smile upon his face as he was glad the Duchess gave her orders and the Lord Marshall carrying them out. He ushered his steed a few paces forward and as hands came
to rest what was to be his lap, one hand rested atop the other as reins were still firmly held. A smug look on his face as he spoke to the Priest and the nun that finally appeared, letting all know they were the ones responsible. "Encontramos otra vez. ..Priest con una lengua y la Monja bifurcadas con una mano rápida... " (We meet again...Priest with a forked tongue and Nun with a
quick hand...) He then looked to the Duchess and the Duke and perhaps he was out of place for speaking but he could not help himself. "Senor... did I not warn you that I would see to the matter myself? And so I have... for now you know that what I say I will do... I aim to see it followed through. I hope that you and the others here will learn that what you did to Senora Eirian is
not taken lightly with myself or others as you can plainly see. If you and your nun have to serve as an example of that... I can only hope it will be done accordingly." He then went quite and would let the others continue to seeing what was needed to be carried out. <d
Emeritus Memoria: Eamonn cut his eye back to Adam, and arched a brow. Oh he had to bite his tongue on that one. It was a little HARD to bring them forth when the offender was unknown and unseen. They were treading on religious grounds, and while he wanted to drag the offenders out, he wanted to give FAIR
warning before force was needed. Shaking his head, he strolled through the church, being followed by a babbling priest. Eamonn ignored him, and keen eyes turned this way and that, searching for any signs of who might be the offenders. "I will NOT ASK again. THOSE who were involved with the confrontation with Lady Eirian STEP FORWARD!" The first to come forward was
the priest in defense of the nun, who was currently hiding behind the other nuns. Eamonn stared at the man flatly, unamused and uncaring for the excuses. This was a House of God, yes, but that did not give them right to stike a woman who did not personally offend them. Rolling his eyes, Eamonn grabbed the priest by the upper arm and snatched him with him. "Shut up. You will have TIME to explain to the Duke and Dutchess." And storming over to the group of nuns, still dragging the priest with him, his free hand lifted and he beckoned the woman toward him. "Now, or I wil DRAG you out here too." The priest was struggling, trying to
pull away and call for help, but Eamon's grip was like iron, and only tightened the more he resisted. Having enough of the woman babbling and trying to use her fellow nuns as cover, he reached for her wrist and pulled her forward, being FAR more gentle with her than he was with the priest. She jogged beside him, her eyes wide while the priest was pulled along. Stepping outside finally, Eamonn flung the priest forward without mercy or care, and then pulled the nun in front of him and nudged her forward as well.
Set In Her Way: Beathag realized the dangerous, controversial ground they tread upon and looked to Adam for one moment. Eamonn didn't know who was responsible, and it was not revealed until they even backed away what faces they had. This would be handled accordingly, even with her profuse temper. She road forward so Caldonhan was positioned just below the first church step. As Eamonn brought out the ones responsible, the priest looked pale and the nun was still blathering on, and on, and on. By Gods! Did she not fathom what was taking place? "Be still." She snarled, looking at them with narrow green
eyes to appraise them. "Ye were summoned by the Duchess, thrice and more by the Lord Marshall and still ye came not. That shall nay stand at all, folk o' the cloth or no." The priest began to talk, indigniant, "But we are servants of the Church of Scotland, from the holy seat of Rome! What matter have you here to do such a thing to us?" People in the square wondered, too, what
could pull those of Rome from behind their cloistered doors. " The King n' Queen's authority n' mah own, now." she pointed to Marcos de La Costa, " Ah have been given a grievance tae learn of n' judge. Is it true tha' one came tae ye ,a Lady, seeking council n' was struck in the face? Is this sae, too, tha' ye accosted her further beyond these doors, n' public view?" The nun spoke next, looking up as she shook her head, lifting her hands to emphasize her point, "I shall not lie! her confession endangers her soul, the soul of the unborn, and her lack to redress these sins needed to be emphasized! What is a
strike from the hand of a nun compared to God's wrath for her sins? She is the lover of heathen men! A harlot! A carrier of a sinful child! To make vows to a heathen man.....to forsake the ways of the Church! I was well within my right to hit her and if she lost that ambomination she carries, whos it it? She will not lay prostrate and pray so she was denied return to these doors!"
The priest stood, helping the nun up, as if his bombast would spare them, " The Sister told me and she is well within her rights....if she is to be harlot let the Lady be given to the brothel!" By their own tongues they admitted their wrong doings, and she was disgusted that any of any faith could be so cruel. Was his what solace lay behind the Cathedral doors? Who else was met with ridicule, with such punishments? As she listened further, it became evident of another wrong doing: Nuns and priest behind them made mention of hiding in the country church those who'd helped murder Chieftain MacRae.
"So it is your will to conceal criminals and killers, but tae decry women with children as harlots, and beat them? Ah have heard enough of you! If ye seek tae issue such humiliation before the masses, it is best ye experience it for yourself! Ah will not have any place be the sanctuary o' killers n' thieves! " She let Caldonhan come back..her voice highly controlled, losing
no pitch now. " By the power vested as Duchess o' Skye, Lady of these Isles ah see fit tae have both of ye taken from here, with bound hands, led by men o' the law tae be made examples of as ye have done to another. Ye shall be put intae stocks, the remainder of this day, this evenintide, until mid morn the next day in PLAIN public view fer ridicule n' scorn ye see sae fit tae give others. After ye are taken from the stocks, ye shall be sent back to the places ye took ye vows o' this office and EXPLAIN yourselves tae yer superiors. Let me make this known!" She looked to the people, "No place o' worship, Christian or any other, shall beh allowed harm members o' this island. Your matters of morals are fer you n' yer God or Gods, but
matters against the law belong tae meh n' mine! Any place harboring those responsible fer the Murder o' Chieftain MacRae shall be searched, warrants given, and all sanctuary negated! The Lord Marshall has mah permission tae take this warrant, as does the baliffs and agents seen fit..intae these
places and draw out these true offendors o' wrong, sae it shall be made written this vera day! Bind those two by their hands, lead them down the road, and see they taste what it is they have given to others..we shall look more intae any other offenses..be made sure o' tha." She fell silent then..(d)
Ignia Ferroque: Adam grit his teeth... it was this that turned him from the church... the misuse of God's words... the holier than thou attitude that made him hate the Church... He had his own beliefs... and he was responsible to only to himself...therefore, he was ired with the nun's assumptions and the priest's
Emeritus Memoria: Eamonn listened intently. Heathens? Is that what people of the Church thought of those who differed in beliefs? Aman-ud-Din did not speak like that, and he was of the same belief as these people. It truly gave rise to character. So they deemed her harlot. Eamonn frowned, and shook his
head. No one should he pursecuted for loving someone that was not of same belief. That was a personal choice, and no one should he smacked and belittled because of it. However, apparently, these people would not see their errors or the
damage that they could have done. Eirian was a fragile woman. She was pregnant. Those things added up made slapping her a poor choice in action to do. Eamonn rolled his eyes and sighed inwardly. Arms crossed over his chest as he listened to Bess' speech. Now, he was given permission to search people to
find the murderer of the MacRae clansman, legal jurisdiction to search. Bind their hands? Eamonn arched a brow. "Bess. BESS. What did I remind you of earlier." He warned, before turning back to the priest and nun. "You have been WARNED by the Lady and Lord. Be MINDFUL of your actions and what you do. Your belief will NOT hold you above the law. Your religion is your OWN, but RESPECT other people's belief, for if I hear about another incident like this, where DISRESPECT of persons is committed, it is MY face you will see again, and your chastisment will be MORE severe. Now GET BACK to your duties. NOW." The Marshal sneered, glaring at the nun and the priest. The two scrambled back
inside, and Eamonn had never seen a woman move so fast up the steps! The tall blonde turned to Bess now, and neared her. For she was higher and upon a horse. "Bess. Be CAREFUL in dealing with Religion and LAW. The offense is NOT that
serious, do NOT make it more than it needs to be. People will SAY what they will, but it seems they did NOT harm Eirian or threaten her livelihood. We have other matters that need our attention, not a slap in the face over religious matters." He said stiffly to her, though low enough so only the Lady he was addressing could hear. Wiping the frown from his face, he moved to Finbar
and mounted.
Caden:Caden frowned at the words the woman spoke. Such high
handedness of the church. God's law did not state that the church take matters into their own hands but rather let God see to punishments as he saw fit. The Battle was His. He shook his head at the Priest and the Nun. And truely he did not think Eirian could have done anything that would have deserved such
harshness from anyone. He watched and listened silently from beside Moria, Anna laying under the gelding taking shade from the horse while events unfolded. His eyes widened in surprise as Eamonn sent them back inside instead of sending them to the stocks as Bess bid. (d)
Of Sea And Sword: As Marcos watched and listened his blood began to boil as the nun continued to let her tongue be so loose. He continued to force himself to be calm and when a chance was provided he ushered his steed forward as so it was beside the Duchess's own. He leaned over to her and whispered once all was said and done. "Senora.. there were two others involved in this matter. It seems the Priest has friends... a man with one eye and his comrade, when the Priest shoved Senora Eirian to them... the actions were to bold for my taste. That is when I got my point across with the tip of my blade and pulled her from their filthy grasps." He said as he then leaned back upright. "I ask that they be held accountable for such a thing. If not by your own doing... then allow me to see to it myself?" <d
Set In Her Way: The offense's judgement shall beh carried out, " she would whisper back in return, for none would see nor hear them speak. Others went back to their business. In part he was right. But only in part. At present, she would not let , she would not let her express, implicit orders be undone. "Sir Caden, when these....two are done with their duties, of which they have a quarter hour tae complete, ye will escort them tae the stocks.." It was not only a stern punishment, but one that challenged the very grounds of a religion's supremacy in a nation, and what had true place. The idea was downright radical, and Eamonn had his just grounds to worn her, but no one would completely contradict her, either. "If they will walk, do not bind their hands, but do nay be sae lax as tae let them refuse, either." Her tone was flat...and as the scene split away, she stared at Marcos,
KaelynRose01: ** The morning sun cast a golden hue over the horizon, as though the God himself had lit a candle and placed its guilded light within this little corner of the world.
"Ah
bae ridin' wit yae..." ::::
