Aislin Creed- The passing events, the talk with the Duchess and King of Avaria had all lead to this moment. Aislin made a choice to better understand someone that she had never meat, did not know of what past had come and someone who seemed as empty to the cares of stranger as herself. taking leave from her duties for the rest of the day, much time under the sun was still to be had being only mid day. Dressed in the attire of men- dark breeches that were tucked into old leather boots which reached her knees, a brown tunic and a leather vest- she walked among the streets in search of this..so called general. She had been living within Skye for months now and had traveled all around it to know the lands in case war fell upon them again. Not to mention, asking for a larger male of darker skin helped her along when it was a rare sight to behold. Finding Maahes within Briar Rose was something of interest, if only to expect this male to be in a rougher environment. Hair of chestnut and dark gold had been bound back into a tight braid which swayed back and forth as she walked tall and form in her steps, yet made barely a sound among the wood as others did. Entering the tavern, ocean hues caught him at the bar, taking a drink as he stood there. Galen was no where to be seen and perhaps..this was the best thing. Moving towards him, Aislin paused but a few inches from him and looked up to his face as her head tilted back. That detached calm was always held over her features and for good reason. Truly, there was nothing in her mind as there were others. Only a action and point. "General Maahes. Take a walk with me." It was not a order, but Aislin did not form it into a question either, more like a statement. Her tone was firm yet soft, not showing to over power but confident in it's words as if she believed he had nothing else to do. To her eyes, he did not have another task that saw need of him, or he would not have been drinking.
General Maahes- Maahes rarely would make foot inside a tavern, save for late afternoons when the crowd was sparse and meals were served. He had never found taste for ales and wines but when it came to meats and cheese; this man acquired favorites in the new lands. As so often before many would watch the beast with caution, curious of the General of foreign birth. Men would gawk at the many weapons that strung from the man's body as if apart of his attire, and women would watch with wide eyes as he devoured the meal, many wenches would smirk and wonder if he'd eat everything with such vigor. However today he simply drank. A hard whiskey would soothe his nerves for the formal dinner up ahead as he waited for Brennah to finish trying to make shape of his tunic (which of course was destroyed in this morning's rounds. Bare arms were painted with dried mud that seemed only part of his naturally dark flesh, and even ran the length of his back. Long thick dreads of black fell between his shoulder blades held together by a single strap. A few of the heavy tendrils were decorated with small carved beads of bone, and often many would wonder if they were human or animal, and they would be surprised at Maahes's answer. He was still in his armor from the days mission; a leather chest plate that buckled down the front, seemed to add even more size to the normally massive male. He had not slept well the past few nights and it showed clearly underneath amber colored eyes, but perhaps one could just blame it on the full moon. The moon always having an effect on moods, Maahes would just use that as his excuse. However as a voice like the chiming of bells passed up his spine like velvet, he'd close his eyes a moment. However that little show of weakness would quickly pass as the Beast turned to her. Like a good dog should he rose from his seat slowly placing the right amount on the bar and with dry questioning eyes he'd motion for the door, more then happy to be rid of this place.
Aislin Creed- Being covered in dirt, mud, horse shyt and other things was not something new to Aislin and a person covered in things other then fine garments, got a small bit of respect from the Lady of Eohmark. She got where she was today by hard work, others should damn well do the same, for a title will mean little to the peasant woman behind the noble title. Aislin waited, not caring if she seemed to have manners or not at this point. Her duty, did not consist of manners, why should life always do the same. When Maahes rose and waved towards the door, showing his impressive height to all, Aislin moved without hesitation, leaving space between herself and the large mountain of a dark skinned male. Aislin did not accept touch or give it freely to anyone save her husband. Her own sister-in-law had only gotten a hug perhaps twice in their lifetime together and both were times when she was in need, not Aislin. Boots made no sound as her 5'11 foot frame moved along the woodwork and towards the door, opening it before stepping out and holding it for the tall General. Once both were out into the cool air, Aislin took lead, allowing the General to take up beside her as his legs moved his mountain frame forward. Such a different male and one that her father had not spoken on much to her. She knew about so many cultures, but this one...or what she assumed it to be was lost in her memories. Of course it was of no importance, for she doubted she would learn this male's ways or homeland but the words of a mouth. In the pure silence of humans, Aislin and Maahes walked down the cobblestone path, one of many, through the city. Not one word came past Aislin's thinner lips, for she had nothing to say at the moment. It was as she said...simply a walk. Unlike other women who swayed in their movements, Aislin's was more lofty and strong, not having large and curvy hips as other women did to make her movements more graceful. Much like how her breast were smaller then most if not all, though as a married woman she had no care to it. Why should she? Men were strange creatures. Finally, they came a slower pace and Aislin changed their course, heading into a large building of white stone and marbling. As tall as the other buildings, it blended in with it's surroundings save for one area to the right. With iron bars thicker then Aislin's own arms, a area of grass and tombstones could be found there just by the building's side. One long fingered hand pressed to the wooden double doors to press it open as she entered inside and was sure Maahes would follow. The area, opened into a large hall, much like the churches held save for instead of places to sit, beds lined against the walls. the smell of blood, vomit, medicine, spices, herbs and flesh moved about the hall even though it was a clean place considering what it was used for. Nurses, healers and physicians all moved about in quickened paces to help those that had come. It was busy and alive, filling the area with moans, mindless chatter, questions and assessments. Aislin did not move them any deeper inside then just beyond those doors. Finally..now was when she spoke. "This be what ah do. Ah do nay do this from passion, nor do ah do this because ah enjoy helping people or human kind. Ah do this...because it be all ah know and what ah be good at. " eyes stayed forward to watch all those that worked under her move about, without hesitation. " There be no one as good as ah be at this..nay here in Skye, nor Inverness." Arrogant? No. Her tone suggested she did not hold such thoughts. It was simply truth. Aislin, was bred for this as she suspected many were bred for war or to marry and give children.
General Maahes- Call it habit, or call it duty but when a stranger to his eyes would linger too close to Aislin as they walked Maahes would darken and narrow his eyes until it would stop the man in his tracks. He didn't know the woman in truth, nor did it matter if she was of noble blood or common, this was just his way. He was a heartfelt protector, one who had lived only to serve a greater purpose. So Maahes above all would understand her being 'bred' for her job, he was literally conceived to fight. Aislin was one of the taller women he had been around, but still his head would dip to better serve her eyes. The entire length of the walk was well kept with his silence and he would not offer his arm one time. Though he knew the customs here, he felt his presence alone was enough of an escort this one would need. She did not seem the need to cower behind a male, having been one of the first to try and soothe her husband. The man from the night before had spoken out of turn and used a tone less then agreeable towards the closet thing Avaria had to a Queen, in the present, but it had not warranted enough insult for Ark's harsh words. The event had put a strain on the giant, and though he would never admit it would be the reason he had missed so much sleep. So as they continued in silence he half expected her to turn on her heel and give him a lashing. Though his reaction would not be pleasant, he would hold no grudge. Her voice continued then as they moved through the building, the moans of pain almost washing her voice away, but still it kept his attention. He had seen this all, hell he kept the healers working in Avaria, having been struck by three arrows in one day right before this little trip. As they continued he would finally break his stoic expression to remain on one wounded man, his age showing in the gray of his beard. The much older man would be one of the few to greet the Beast with a smile, and though he was missing many of his teeth Maahes was thankful. His steps would still and shoulders would turn then to face the man slightly. "How long have you been prisoner to their ways?" A joke? Did Maahes just make a joke? Quick someone check and see if hell has frozen over! The old man rose his hand to one nurse well endowed and spilling out of her bodice. "Not long enough!" The geyser would laugh and sit back against his pillows, and a smile of the General's own would press back his lips. Maahes had one of those smiles that reached his eyes, wrinkles deepened on each side as they came alive, and his entire face would brighten. An expression like this was like a rare jewel and one he really should do more often. Perhaps he would just brush the man off as blind, or perhaps he truly didn't care what Maahes was like, he was just happy to be alive and little things like that would only push the General further into keeping the people safe. Returning then to Aislin he would keep his form a few steps back, but would listen as she spoke waiting for the reason he was even here.
Aislin Creed- Aislin had not thought to give a tour full out, but when Maahes started moving, she did as well. Slender arms crossed over her small chest as she moved along with the mountain of a man, ocean eyes went from one bed to the other, before Maahes took pause and Aislin remained on the opposite side of him, leaving him closer to the older male, who had a serious injury upon his lower leg, seemed just fine with the attention he was getting. Try as they might, the leg may have to be removed in order to stop gangrene. The words spoken between the General and the other male were listened quietly by Aislin, thought unlike them, she never smiled. Of course she found it nice to see that Maahes was not purely a beast or made of stone, but that did not make Aislin a light hearted person. She was..made of stone in ways others were not and it was not by choice as others claimed. She simply was as she was. Life and death were simple things. Either they could be stopped or they could not. It was the present of the matter. Ocean eyes peered up to see that charming smile, that had the General used it more often, women would have swooned for others reasons besides his height and strength. Galen's love for him made perfect sense in that smile, which seemed to narrow his eyes in a pleasant way and make him more human then Aislin herself. If Aislin had sen the man's gestures to the other woman, she did not make note of it as they moved on and back towards the entrance. Aislin did not bring Maahes here to speak on medicine or to speak on all her patients. Pushing back through the doors and into the clean air, silently Aislin inhaled and re-crossed her arms back over her chest. "Ah have shown ye my duty...show me yers."
General Maahes- He had gone well with her tone in the tavern, but now it had gone right through him. It was not that he thought she was demanding, but perhaps wondered if this was how she thought she would have to get through to him. No, it was not that easy. One just did not walk up to an Avarian camp, nor were outsiders welcome. They were a tight group of ruthless battle hungry knights that worked like a clockwork, and distractions were limited. "In your state I will not allow it." Would be the excuse he would give, and truthfully it was more then he'd given anyone. He was growing impatient with her dance of resources and would bring her to her point. No doubt this was an attempt to break some ice between the pair, or even get an apology out of him for his men's actions. However, neither would come easy. "Your husband would not allow it." Notice how it was not "liked' as he was quick to figure she would have asked for permission as was the way of the lands he was born. Maahes read people like a book, opening with the cover and digging deeper into the pages. Her Lord was a ticking time bomb on the inside and was very easy to pry that weakness out. His girls were the trigger to the loaded gun, and both Maahes and Ark made note of that. Little resources for...just in case.
Aislin Creed- Aislin was not truly a bossy woman, simply blunt and had little manners in terms of society with noble blood. Among peasant, she could fit right in because she had been lower class all her life. Her state? One full brow perked up at that comment, but it was the only change to her expression as she paused and turned around to face him, keeping them smack in the middle of the cobblestone walk ways. No one came towards them, or had need to pass, so why move to the side? "Ye speak as if ye believe ah must ask my husband's permission for other things besides just that. That would be like saying ah serve my husband. How quick ye seem to judge General Maahes. Ah be in love with my husband...there is a difference in that then living to serve him or being in a arranged marriage. Marriage by choice, leaves women to think differently. Very well. Ah shall nay press a issue ye will nay allow, for it be yer area, yer people. " Aislin had no need for a apology any more. This was simply to try and understand ways of another and explain her ways so they both knew. Aislin stood as still as a statue, keeping her eyes at the bridge of Maahes' nose so it seemed as if she were looking to both eyes at once instead of moving her eyes back and forth between his like so many others did. " If ye think ah have asked ye to come with me to find a apology, ye be wrong. Ah have no need for it, ah heard ye words loud and clear. Ye have a simple way of thinking and one that ah can relate to. So it has been decided, that should the male come close enough to touch me, ah'll simply kill him to prevent farther actions of a threat. Then by yer words and laws..it would be his fault that he was dead aye? It be true...ah have asked ye to come with me to perhaps learn more of ye and thinking ye be a man of few words..ah thought it best to show ye things instead of rambling on as so many women do. Ye do nay present yerself as a talker and normally ah have few words to spare."
General Maahes- A simple way of thinking? His eyes would narrow at her then as his own chest held his crossed arms. The Egyptian took two steps closer to her, almost as if he were afraid others could hear. It took a lot to gain this ones trust, and once his good opinion was lost it was lost forever ( ) Many would take careful steps to be on the wrong side of this lethal being, however with her quick remarks and fast judgment she just won her place. A smirk pressed his lips as her words were so sharp and ran deep. "I will offer you one anyway." Maahes paused a moment and took a light breath, though his eyes never once moved from hers. "I am sorry Aislin of Sevenwaters, wife to Lord Marshall and healer. My soldier's words did not go unpunished." He'd tighten his arms over his chest as he would raise away and feet would square with his shoulders. "He will never speak to you or any of Skye like that again." It was not their way, and Ark had much to learn..but what was the General's closed fist for right?
Aislin Creed- Already, knowing to General Maahes, Aislin had asset things she saw. He was not a mean and heartless man, for he had humor though it was hard to find. He must have taken the commands from a woman, or followed a woman easier then a man because he had been quick to come when she spoke of a walk. Then again, that could have been on good faith for an alliance. When General Maahes stepped closer to Aislin, he would find the woman would not move a inch, nor blink. Her expression never changed and the only movement she made was to tilt her head back and higher to look towards General Maahes' eyes once more and keep those ocean hues locked to the bridge of his nose. Every muscle movement had been noticed in the lower line of vision. Aislin did not truly care if she made friends with this man or not, all she cared about was the alliance and what each land could bring to each other. In time, she might care for the people of Avaria, but as of now..they were all strangers. "Thank ye. It takes a large man to say such things when pride is filled to the brim. It be accepted then. He shall live it seems..." one pause was given before she spoke again. "Ah take this as ye have no want to learn anything more of me...or to share anything else with me at current?" The man had skipped everything else she has said as if he had not heard her and Aislin was not one to care or press it. If he felt it was important, he would have spoken on it.
