Having left the confines of Turas Lan for the forest Kaelyn and her knight's had set up a small camp, for a while as she tried to keep hold of what little sanity she felt she had left at this point.
In the center of the camp was a large tent with the others scattered around in... and within that tent was the Ranger born of Royal blood.
Fragmented mind and heavy heart she sat at a small table within her tent to write to Argania as well as Blackmoor to inform them of the lives they had lost during the was with the English.
Dipping her quill into the ink well she began in flowing script to describe the carnage and chaos... expounding on the bravery of the men from both places, as well as telling of her guilt and pain at the loses.
Once finished she sat staring as the words as the began to swirl on the page and in her mind she heard a voice calling her a failure for protecting and saving them. The voice was harsh as it ridiculed but it was saying nothing that she had not thought or said of herself... it confirmed those thoughts.
The words stopped moving and once more took the shape of her script... she sealed the missives with her seal in red wax. Leaving them on the table she stood and walked out into the camp and looked around with haunted eyes at those that were still with her.
Oh how she wished things were different... that it had been herself and not those good and noble men who fought for the freedom of a country and those that lived there.
Pagan noticed the look on her face and quickly went to her " M'Lady?" he questioned softly concern for her in his voice. Never in all the years he had known her had he ever seen her this way.
She was pale... and thin she hardly ate these days...this war and its loses have taken their toll on the young warrior.
She turned to meet his gaze when the ground tilted and swayed beneath her feet...the forest swam at dizzying speeds..."Pagan....." the word a whisper as she collapsed into his arms.
She would have fallen to the ground had he not reacted as quickly as he did and caught her. " RAVEN!!" Pagan bellowed across the camp to his fellow knight and friend. He lifted her into his arms and strode to wards her tent, and laid her on her bed. They would need to send to Turas Lan for someone who could help her.

Pagan had finally made the decision to send a missive to Kae's brother informing him of what happened to his sister. Phantom would be who delivering it to no one other than Dmitrii. Phantom arrived and began looking for Dmitrii at once... and having found him handed him the missive " I was told to give it to you directly M'Lord" he said with a bow of his head. A worried look on the stoic Knight's face would be enough to let Dmitrii know it was important. Lord Dmitrii, I am writing this to let you know your sister is not doing well, she collapsed two days ago and has not woken up yet. I am worried about her... please come as quick as you can. We are camped within the woods a days ride from Turas Lan. Pagan Knight of Argania

Dmitrii was walking around his new home when a servant approached him; it was a knight with a missive. As he returned to the main house, he recognized the large man. Exchanging greetings, Phantom handed Dmitrii the missive. An odd expression crossed his face and he looked at the large man. “I’ll be ready in no time.” Looking to the servant… “Have Adrian saddle my horse…” then he bounded up the stairs two steps at a time. Moments later, the curly headed man, now dressed in black light armour, twin swords at his back descended the stairs. A bit later, the two warriors were riding down the road, the large black Friesian prancing at a quick pace. “Tell me what has caused this. What happened to my sister?” he questioned the large knight.
" We know naught what happened Sir Dmitrii... she came out of her tent and collapsed into Pagan's arms. It had been two days and still she has not woke up." Phantom said in his deep voice that was softened with concern for the Lady he serves. Mounted on his own large black gelding they rode silently for a time before Phantom once more spoke " Pagan and Raven have taken turns watching over her... Pagan sent me to find you as soon as it happened...." he kept his eyes on the road ahead looking for anything that was amiss as they traveled to the camp.

It was Pagan's turn to keep vigil over Kae as she laid still... so still. He paced back and forth within the tent " Where the hell are they!? What is keeping them!?" he spoke to himself though his words filled the tent, anger and concern laced his words. Worried marred his handsome face as he wondered what was keeping her from opening her eyes and smiling at them once more.
It was not like her to be down for so long.. not even when gravely injured had she stayed abed for more than a day at the longest...he walked to the opening of the tent a pulled the flap open to gaze up at the stars..." By all the Gods of both her people... bring her back to us... please..." he pleaded softly and then closed the flap and took his place once more on the stool by her bed and bathed her face with a cool cloth. " M'Lady... please wake up." the last was whispered to her.

The ride out to Kae’s camp took its toll on Dmitrii, his mind continually reflecting back on his words to her in the Briar Rose Inne. He had not been cordial to her nor her fiancé regarding their marriage. Wise people often profess that one should never say things that would cause distress to one’s self… this held true in this instance. Dmitrii, being in such moods as he had been of late, now wished he could retract his words. The ride to Kae’s camp would prove difficult.
Swallowing hard, he had ridden into camp… entering her tent, and to her side. She looked completely different as she lay there lifeless and pale. Tearless eyes wreaked of pain as he gazed upon the only thing that remained in his life. Approaching her, Raven released her hand and took a step back. Taking her hand, Dmi speaks to her in Russian, asking forgiveness, telling her he loved her, informing her of his missing her and asking her to return to the living, and promising his change of ways. With no words spoken to the man, Dmi looks to Raven, the steel grey eyes attempting to search the man’s soul.
Having created a hostile atmosphere once again, the Kievan warrior looks to the Arganian warrior, speaking with a heavy Russian accent... “Ravens are said to be the reincarnate of the dead… Yu say yer name is Raven…” those eerie-colored eyes narrow… “I pray that yu are not here to take my sister away from me into the afterlife.” Glancing to Kaelyn, then back to Raven. “I was cruel to yu both… I apologize for that. It is only my sister’s welfare that care about. If she loves yu, and yu her… and she pulls thru this… then I offer my blessing willingly…” he releases her hand, caressing her face. Standing, he faces the man who will soon become his brother-in-law. “Know this Arganian… harm her and this Earth, and this lifetime, shall have no bounds to keep me from killing you… Keep her safe… treat her as she deserves to be treated… Love her…and live well.”
Turning back to Kae, once again speaking Russian… asking her for forgiveness for all he had done and what he will do… Kissing her right cheek, then her left, alternating three times in the ways of his Kievan culture, he bids her farewell. Looking to Raven… “Care for her… when she wakes, tell her what I have said… tell her I love her… and I miss her. Let her know I am well, and duties require my absence… I must prepare for what is to come…” Neither extending a hand in friendship, nor asking forgiveness, nor waiting for the man’s response, Dmitrii just nodded, then kissed Kae’s forehead, and departed the tent abruptly.

Silently he listened to the words of her brother, not quite ready to forgive the way he had spoken to Kae that night. But as he continued to speak, he knew the man had only been looking out for his sister, and knew that had their rolls been reversed he would have done the same.
No words were needed between them at the moment though if they had been he would have told the fellow Warrior that he would take his own life before harming Kae in any way, that taking her away was the furthest thing from his mind.
Dmitri made his request then turned and left. Once they were alone once more Raven knelt beside the bed, taking Kae's hand in his own kissing the soft skin upon the back of it and began to speak. " Come back tae me love, Please. Ye are needed. Yer people need ye, yer brother needs ye, I need ye." His voice was gruff with emotion. He felt at a loss, helpless not knowing what else to do to help her heal and come back to them, to him. He bowed his head resting it on the side of the bed to keep silent vigil.

Kae lay there in her tent... her mind was in shattered pieces dancing around twinkling in a faint light. Images of those she lost swam around and the cries of was still rang in her ears.
Then a voice... soft and distant spoke.. the language strange then as she struggled to put the pieces of her mind together she recognized the voice... it was that of her beloved brother Dmitrii. He sounded so sad... haunted...she wanted to take him in her arms and make it all right for him, but her body refused to move. He spoke to another... "Hurt her and I will kill you... love her treat her well...have my blessing" she could not make out all that was said but enough to know it was to Raven he spoke.
Raven's voice then came to her and it made her heart ache to hear the pain in his voice as he willed her to come back. She felt his love envelope her as if he had taken her in his arms and held her close. " Come back to me" he whispered to her " I need you" those words gave her strength to fight harder.
Through the darkness and the pain she floated back into herself... whole once more. Her eyes fluttered open...she looked about and saw his head laying on the bed next to her. His eyes were shut and a stray strand of hair covered on eye... gently she brushed it aside " Raven...." she whispered not really wanting to wake him. " I love you." she lay there content to look upon the man she loved more than life.

The sound of her whispered words had his head jerking upwards his green eyes full of hope. When he saw that she was indeed awake he could not stop himself from gathering her into his arms and holding her tight his face buried in her neck and hair. He breathed deep the scent of her skin and for a long time could do little more then hold her against him rocking gently.
After a while he spoke, his voice raw with emotion. " Ye frightened me m'Love, I was nae sure ye would come back tae me." He smiled then. " How dae ye feel? Dae ye need annathin'?"
He brushed the hair from her beautiful face and stroked it with a tenderness, as if she might shatter if he touched her with anything but gentleness. His hand shook only now revealing how shaken he had been from her illness.
Once he could compose himself, and she had convinced him she was alright and in need of naught but some water and a little food, he went to the desk on the other side of the tent and sat to write a missive to Dmitri.
Lord Dmitri,
Not more then an hour or so after your departure, Lady Kaelyn awoke. She is weak but alive and talking, asking for food and drink. I felt that perhaps that knowlege would comfort you on your travels.
Sincerely, Sir Raven Shadow Knight of Argania
The missive complete he stood and went to the tent flap where he found Phantom waiting. " She is awake. Give this missive to our fastest runner to make sure Lord Dmitri gets it before he leaves. It is not to go to any other but Lord Dmitri." Phantom nodded and turned to go when Raven's voice stopped him. " Please let Rhys know as well that she has woken and send food and water." Again the quiet man that was one of Raven's closest friends, one of three, dipped his head in agreement then turned to do his friend's bidding.
When he returned to Kae's side he sank down onto the bed and pulled her close to him his hands soothing down her back as he simply held her immensely, deeply greatful she had finally woken.

Kae sat in the bed as Raven went to the desk and began writing...then handed the missive to Phantom. Hearing that Dmitrii was leaving had her brows furrowing in a frown " Where is Dmitrii going??" she asked concern in her voice. " We just got here?... I must go to him ... there is so much I need to say." she sat up and threw the covers back and stood up.
Raven was at her side in a flash... gently urging her back into the bed. A frown was upon his handsome face it was then he began telling her she had slept for four solid days without waking. She looked at him and blinked several times " No wonder everyone sounded so worried when you all spoke to me... I am sorry my heart. I did not mean to worry you." she said as she once more sat on the bed.
Rhys called from outside that he had food and drink " Enter cousin... thank you." she said with a smile once more looking like herself, for her eyes were clear and she realized so was her mind. For the first time since arriving in Skye she felt like she were whole once more and not fragments of a being.
