Scene takes place in the castle's library
Caden Robertson
Caden sat in a quiet corner of the hall of books. He had several books on his lap one in his hands, it seemed he was researching something, or perhaps just reading several short tales in several different books. His dark hair had grown some it was a little longer then perhaps the last time he had been seen. He even had a partial growth of a beard along his jaw line, as if he had not taken the time to make himself totally presentable after his return home. at his feet sat Tavish laying quietly his blue eyes calmly observing those who were in the hall. Caden however was blissfully unaware of anyone. He was lost to the world at the moment. (d)

Rhona was walking about aimlessly since Jelenah was off doing her own thing. Maybe she had gone to spend time with Kane? Maybe she had gone off for a ride, or maybe she was napping. All Rhona knew was she had been given leave to do as she wished for a while and so Rhona left the Lady Windsor to her own devices. Today Rhona wore the usual maiden garb. Nothing fancy or elaborate, but nice, comfortable and pleasing to the eye. It was a bit chilly and so she wore a shawl draped over her shoulders and arms. Long red curls swayed and bounced with the gentle moves of the fiery woman. She wasn't like most maidens... proper, quiet, and courting some suitor. Rhona was the opposite of all that. She was proper to a point, she was loud, and she was definitely not like most maidens and courting some handsome male. The red head was pleasant enough when in company, but most had learned by now, she was definitely a feisty soul. As she moved down a few corridors and halls, she noticed the Hall of Books doors were cracked. She was making her way over to them to pull them shut when within that crack, she spotted a form. She paused and peered for a moment before quietly easing herself inside. It was fascinating... to see a man and a beast be like he and the white tiger. She idly moved to softly lean up against a nearby pillar. Arms and hands folded back behind her, head slightly canted. [d]

She would be standing there for several long moments before he finally realized someone was watching him. even then it was the shifting of the big cat at his feet that alerted him to that fact. Slowly he put the book down and lifted his pale blue gaze to eye her for a moment. He recognized her instantly and smiled a little bit. The woman who had been so shocked by the presence of Tavish that he had had to catch her to keep her from falling on her pretty backside. Yes he had taken notice of her beauty and her fiesty nature. His face did not betray his thoughts as he watched her silently giving her a chance to come forward and speak but then when She did not he realized it might be out of fear of Tavish. He set his books aside and leaned forward to gently pet the big cat's head and back saying quietly. "You can come closer if you like M'Lady. He will not bring you harm. I promise." He gave her a smile that caused the nasty scar on his cheek to flash in the dim candle lights. More and more he went without the cowel on his cloak, more and more he felt comfortable in his own skin, he did not feel he needed to hide as much and such was the case now. (d)

Rhona hadn't meant to stand there and stare, but to see a man and a beast to sit and lay together as they did was something to truly marvel at. When she realized he had noticed her, she flinched a little, jerking to attention as if someone had prodded her to alert her of such. "Oi.. Ah am sorry. Ah did nae mean tae be disturbing ye n' yer beast. Ah ..." her words came to a silent halt as she watched him pat the tiger and promise her that he wouldn't harm her. She hesitated a moment, but then lifted her chin and put on a mask of courage. Rhona moved forward, but she kept a few feet between them when coming to stand closer to him. "He is a beautiful animal.. but... ye are certain he will nae bite?" she asked as she gave the tiger a some what leery eye before her hazels turned back to Caden. Despite the scar, she thought him to be a nice looking young lad. [d]

He smiled as he watched her chin lift and then her steps forward. " It is alright, I was doing nothing important. " He excused her interruption then grinned at her question. "Aye I am certain he won't. I am more likely to bite then he is... " His eyes twinkled with merriment as he teased her then reached his hand out for hers, a silent offering to let her pet the huge beast with his own hand there to protect just in case. If he truly thought that Tavish would turn on the girl he would not have let her get so close to them. As it were the huge tiger was lifting his head towards her to sniff at her to familiarize himself with her. A low rumbling purr filled the air and that huge beast acted more like a contented kitten. Rhona smirked with his reply, but her eyes continued to shift for a moment or two longer as she looked between the pair while deciding on if she wanted to risk losing a hand or not since Caden was gesturing for her to pet the white tiger. She leaned down and in, her hand out stretched, fingers were curled rather than flexed, and if Caden had to guide her tiny hand to the beast, then he was allowed to. As it neared the animal, fingers slowly, cautiously even, began to unravel and touch him. With Caden's hand with her own... she wasn't quite as scared, and she made contact with him, she looked to Caden and smiled as if delighted that she had touched the large beast. Hazel hues turned back to the tiger then, fingers began to pet or stroke him a little more. [d]

He smiled gently reassuringly as she leaned in to pet the huge feline. Tavish of course pushed his huge head into her fingers as they uncurled and stroked his fur, that purr rumbled louder and his eyes half closed. Caden's hand was gentle on the back of hers, just a light touch of reassurance in no way confining to stop her from moving. His respect for her grew as she braved her own fear to touch what could potentially be a dangerous beast. If Caden didn't introduce them first or invite the touch the reaction might have been different but as it were the big cat was basking in the attention. Caden whispered softly close to her ear as she was bent so near. "See. He is gentle, just as his Momma was." At the mention of Anna his voice saddened. It had been four years and he still missed his old friend. He still hurt at her death. But then there were alot of things from his past that still hurt him. (d)

Rhona held a very soft smile as she looked between to two for a moment. Especially when Tavish began purring. That smile grew, and she had to hold back a chuckle, fearing it would ruin this moment. That Tavish would suddenly realize she was the one touching him and turn on her or something. Rhona could have quite the imagination at times. When the whispered words from Caden's lips reached her ear, she nodded softly without looking to him right away. Though, there was something in that tone of his whisper that told her something was wrong. So with her being bent and lowered as she was, when she looked to Caden, she was face to face with him. Merely inches away. "Ye miss her.. aye?" she asked, letting her fingers linger in the fur of Tavish, the stroke slower as she was focused on Caden at the moment. [d]

His eyes held a world of sadness when she looked at him and for a moment he could not answer. He lifted his free hand to brush a brilliant red curl from her soft cheek and answered softly. "Aye." No further explanation came just yet Just that simple word. He looked into her pretty face for several moments, Tavish purring below them. Caden paused a moment his fingers against her cheek his thumb idly caressing her cheek bone almost unaware he was doing it or that his touch lingered. He looked as if he wanted to say something but couldn't He was spell bound for the moment struck at once by her beauty, and knowing deep down that she had a gentle soul, even if it were fiery at the same time. He smiled at her and had just considered leaning forward towards her to close the gap when Tavish chose that moment to sneeze startling him, making them both jump as the sound rippled through the quiet room. Rhona stared deep in his eyes and could see the sadness that they held within them. It almost brought her to tears. To see a man like that... as if broken... it was hard. Men were suppose to be made of steel. Not suppose to break or feel pain. By now the fingers in Tavish's fur had slowed, and then stopped as Caden's eyes lingered and he cupped a side of her face. Rhona for a moment didn't seem to realize the own trance she was in. When Tavish sneezed, it scared Rhona so bad that she fell back and on her bum. Now her cheeks just about matched the color of her hair, but she didn't say anything or try to hide it. Instead, she wore that tinted color with pride as if to play it off like it was nothing. "Oi.. ye beast scared meh." She said as she moved to try and get back to her feet. [d]

The spell was broken for the moment and he reached out to grab her as he realized she was gonna fall but didn't quite make it. He was on his feet half crouched to try and catch her instead she sat there in a mess of skirts in a most un lady like manner. The blush that stained her pretty cheeks made him grin and then he laughed and answered. " He scared me too." He gave a low chuckle and offered her his hand to help her up. He stood and pulled her to her feet. When she was standing he asked in an amused tone. " Do you have a name Lass? I do not believe that I caught it the last time I met you." As he asked his hands were busy helping to dust her off, propriety be damned his touch was not inappropriate, or at least it wasn't in his mind he was just helping her out a little.(d)

Rhona stared up at him and indeed in the most un lady like of ways. Her legs were bent at the knees, and about a shoulder width apart. At least her skirts kept anything from being seen! His chuckle coaxed one of her own and when he offered to help her up, she took his hand and was hoisted to her own two feet. Caden asked for her name and she smiled. "Aye... Rhona Brogain." she offered. "Ah thought ye had already learned o'it." she added. He was dusting her off and well, at first she thought maybe he was just trying to be sly. But he seemed to genuinely trying to help and so she wouldn't deck him this time. Not yet at least. "N' ye are Caden Robertson.. aye? Ye be that Lady Artisan's kin. Mi'Lady Windsor... she is close tae the Lady Apolluis. She had mentioned ye when we walk about n' speak on those o' tha Court n' o' there kin." [d]
Caden Robertson
He smiled and let one hand drop. His other hand rested just under her fingers almost reluctant to relinquish contact with her. "Aye I remember now. there were so many there that night whose names I was told it's hard to put names to faces after just one meeting. Aye I am who you speak of. " He pauses a moment thinking back. " I remember Lady Windsor. I only met her briefly on a couple of occasions but I remember her. " He smiled warmly. He looked down as he felt Tavish nudge him. He glanced out the windows and frowned a little. " I hate to say it sweet Rhona, but I must be off. Perhaps though we could meet up again, take a walk in the garden perhaps?" He asked her in a hopeful tone. (d)

Rhona didn't pay much mind to his lingering touch until far later than she should have. She tried not to think about it and focused on his words. "Aye.. tis a while back ago n' ye are fergiven." she teased. Rhona nodded when he spoke of Jelenah and smiled. When Tavish came up, Rhona's own eyes fell and she smiled softly to herself before she was looking back up to Caden. Though.. her soft smile seem to fade at hearing he needed to go. However, she smiled again, brightly, as if trying to hide the disappointment. "Aye... we can... n'perhaps iffen it nae be too cold." she replied. [d]

He saw the drop in her smile and silently cursed the fact that he had to leave. His duties called. He lifted his hand from hers and cupped her cheek gently and bent and kissed her opposite cheek very softly whispering. "Till next we meet then sweet Rhona." He smiled against her cheek lingering perhaps a second longer then he should before turning and heading for the door Tavish on his heels after pausing before the girl his Master obviously liked. He pushed his head against her as if to say "I accept you" before he turned and trotted off at his master's heels. (d)

Rhona simply stared into his eyes, and then felt the touch of his hand as he cupped her cheek gently. When he leaned in for the kiss to her cheek, she seemed shocked. Stunned really and had the blank expression on her face for a moment. It wasn't until he whispered that she seem to come back to attention and felt that smile of his against her cheek. He lingered and Rhona, for a split second was nearly melting. He was soon turning and then heading for the door. She watched after him as he moved off and when Tavish nudged his head against her hand, she glanced down. He too was then turning and moving off, leaving Rhona there with this lost look in her eyes, but a slow creeping smile in her lips before she was turning and heading off to a section of books. [d]
