Eve of Beltane
Vox Gladiis: Dmitrii wandered the patrol area alone... seeing people in the distance toward the shores he moved that way... other guards were strategically in place, he thought back three weeks ago when Willa visited his home - by accident. Hoping to see her here, his steel grey eyes scanned the area well. He adorned his black light armour... with the twin blades upon his back... He was on duty...but not for another couple of strikes of the large clock... he was hoping to see Willa... his heart pounded in his chest as he looked over the crowd.
Willa Schleitz: The young woman smiled to the Asian woman as she stepped aside to allow the boys to race off and play. The light hearted laughter erupted as she looked back to the two women. Her father was also working this evening, skirting through the crowds to insure that people conducted themselves in a decent manner. The lass didn't hide the little sway to the music as it rose up into the air. "I ain'ts see'd dis many folks turns out fer a party... well unless ya counts dat one party yerself throwed. when we firsted arrived. " She piped up as she looked around and absently toyed with the basket. And yes... that visit had been an accident… a lovely one… but still an accident all the same.
Vox Gladiis: Dmi saw Willa, then saw her Da walking the outer areas. Then he snuck up behind her, wrapping his arms around, whispering… "I am off duty in less than an hour, Jamie McLachlan is taking my place..." then he snuck back to his rounds, watching for his replacement.... Soon Jamie arrived early winked at him and nodded... "Gae ye bloody Rus, yer lass waits fer yae..." Dmi almost ran back to the guardhouse at the castle.... Splashing water on his face, pushing back the curly dark hair, brushing off dust from his trousers, and stowing his swords, he leaves the guardhouse and runs back to where he last saw the one of his heart.
Willa Schleitz: The little jump had been given for that familiar touch about her... as the bright giggling came as she nodded. Of course she only gave a little nod to Kaori. As her knight slipped off... Willa in a round-about way followed. What? Oh don't mind her... she was ah… looking over the party. Yes that is exactly what she was doing. ahem. Though as Dmitrii appeared again it was her turn to surprise him as she caught his hand as he hurried passed. The bright eyes held a bit of mischief in them as she gave him a little tug... away from the rest of the gathering. There wasn't a word spoken… as she released his hand... and slipped off... he could follow... or be in lots of trouble!
Vox Gladiis: Surprised? The lass grabbed his hand and set him into another direction... now separated from the gathering, people watched the current events of the evening, Dmi followed Willa. Oh that look she gave... mischievous imp she was... Dmi looked around for her Father, then back to the crowd, then disappeared into the darkness with her.
Under the veil of night in the trees, he was searching for her, whispering her name… “Willa… Willa, where are you?” What was she up to? He was wandering aimlessly in the darkness until he was grabbed by the wrist…
The soft giggling came as she watched him for a moment, then slipped out into the moonlight. The tiny roses within her hair matched that pale pink of her dress as she reached out a hand and caught his wrist. "I gotta surprise fer ya . " She whispered into his ear then stepped back again and gave a little tilt of her head. She had slipped off earlier in the evening to get everything right, as she lead him down a path. There were likely lovers and other... ah... adventurous sorts about... though Willa hadn't her mind on any of that. Well not really... anyways... she released his hand once more to disappear into the darkness... as the harsh strikes of the steel against flint came... then a spark before the lantern flickered to life. With it brought about the scene itself.
What was this girl planning? As he attempted to focus his night vision upon the area where she disappeared to. “A surprise?” then came a familiar sound of flint and stone. Shading his eyes at first light, he smiled as the scene was highlighted.
The area was a small alcove… the soft greenery all around while the scent of wildflowers and honeysuckle filled the night air. The blanket was spread across the ground as the small basket and such was set out as well. The lantern was hung from a branch as she paused and slipped off the shoes before stepping onto the blanket then sank down into her knees. "I promised ya dinner... didna I? " She canted her head with a small warm smile. Those pretty blue eyes shined up at him not from the reflection of the lantern light... but something that came from within.
He smiled brightly as he approached the blanket… dropping to his knees upon the blanket, he laid down… his boots off the blanket, his elbow propping up his twisted torso. The neatly trimmed beard and the flickering light cast an eerie tint to his face. The steel grey eyes larger than usual… he just looks to her. “Da.. conjesh na…” [yes yu did…] then he looked to the basket and back to her.
It was then he noticed the light in her blue eyes. Immediately, his hand went to her neck, under the golden hair… pulling her to him. The kiss was long, intimate, and nearing the edge of passionate. As they slowly broke apart, his mustache tickled her when he spoke softly… “And just what did yu bring my dear?”
That kiss of his never failed to leave her breathless as she smiled, then broke into a soft round of giggles at the tickling of his mustache against her lips. She eased back and lifted a brow. "Wella… Miss Aida lets me has a go in da kitchens onced she finished ta feast. Sae.. a bit o' honey glazed duck... spiced taters… " she spoke as she began to set the small portions out of the basket between them. The aroma mingled in with the scent of the flowers as she set a small eating area for them both. "it ain'ts much... but I didna has ta much time ta does this... an gits dressed. " she admitted softly. a little nervous, half afraid he would not like the food.
One may cite the Festival as the cause of heightened emotions, but these two have kept their relationship proper for months now, despite the opportunities for impropriety… the wall at night, long rides til dark, visits to his home, and now the picnic in the trees alone. Rumors may come and go, but he has treated her with respect and dignity above his own wishes and wants. The baritone voice near a whisper…. “Yu are a good woman… one who has stolen my heart… I miss yu when we are parted… and I am safe when we are together…”
She didn't care about rumors; yes they sometimes cut into her heart like a knife, but there were moments that made it all worth while… moments such as this. All of those times they had spent together, she had placed her full trust in this Russian man. A man that had so neatly captured her fancy and her heart. "Stole? I dunna thinks I had ta does much stealin, My lord. " she pointed out softly as she reached out to caress his face with a soft hand. "Asides… iffin it be knowed… ya carries me own sae neatly within yer own hands. " She spoke quietly with the gentle smile; while never had stated and professed love… it was easy to see upon the faces of the pair when they were close together.
Fingers poked at the duck, until he broke off a piece… taking a bite, a positive expression came over him… “Mmmhmmm…” he exclaimed as he held out the piece for her to bite… a smile upon his face. Chewing the meat until it almost melted in his mouth… he spoke, the baritone voice soft and genteel… “And dressed well yu did… for yu look absolutely divine…” pausing while a smile quirked his beard in the familiar way… “What more can a man ask for? … good company, good food, and hearts exchanged… things that bless a man for life.”
The small smile appeared again on her lips as she leaned in to take that offered food from his fingers. The dip of her head was given as she settled back once more. "Thank ya... I'mma glad ya approve..." She spoke with a grin. "Though I has ta says, ya looks quite handsome yerself. Doh... ya usualla does." She admitted softly with a small chuckle as he spoke further. "Aye... an a lass as well. Dmi.. "
The looks… the tone they spoke to one another… the touch at every opportunity… all these spoke louder than words of how one felt for the other. Both afraid to say the words, still leery of rejection. Both continue to test the proverbial waters before professing what each yearned to hear. Yet, neither wished to be parted from the other. What were two young hearts to do?
She paused a moment and looked at him... pondering if she should say anything... or merely sit on it and wait... as she shook her head a bit and looked up at the starlit sky. The question still seemed to linger there on her face, certainly haunting her eyes.
He laughs softly… then looks down… “Da… and a lass to share all with…” canting his head looking at her. Noticing one thing, it was as if she wished to say something to him, but hesitated… A finger then lifts her chin as he looks into deep blue eyes… “Willa… yu know yu can speak to me about anything…” the steel grays shifting side to side as if delving into the portals of her soul.
The touch of his hand to her chin brought her gaze to him. It was a gentle, guiding touch... the very touch that made her feel safe. That deep gaze of his, how wonderful it was to just loose herself in the stormy eyes of his. "Da, I know…"
“I shant lie to yu… Be not afraid to discuss anything, for I wish not to have false walls before us.” The finger upon the chin turned into a calloused hand caressing her face.
She answered, absently adopting his own words. The eyes searched his own for a long moment as she drew in a deep breath. Well... here goes? Gods above it made her nervous... "Dere has been thin's said... about'cherself. Thin's.. I..." She paused then frowned a little. "They says ya been see'd goin inta brothels." There… it was out, of course the words quickly blurted out into the air between them. She would have adored it, if they had been wrong... for him to deny such things... but... would he?
