( This will explain Lee's absence)
Months had gone by since she had lost her sight and on this day... something was different and she smiled. She could not wait to tell Lee what was happening... her sight was back...just not as it had been.
Good thing they had spent that time retraining her...she made her way downstairs and found him in the library looking at maps of the area, reading about the history of these lands so unfamiliar to him and yet becoming home.
" Morning Lee... lovely day is it not?" she said softly with a smile. " You might see the images better if you pulled your back from your face." perhaps he would wonder how she knew it was not?
Then another clue "Did you know that when you squint like that you get these tiny little lines at the corners of your eyes?" his head snapped up as she spoke and she beamed a smile at him.
" Dami?" he looked confused and you could almost see the wheels turning her words over in his mind.
She walked over to him and placed her hand against his cheek " For months I have wanted to see this face... the face of the man who saved me in so many ways and now I can... eyes as dark as night, hair black as pitch.... " her voice but a whisper as she spoke " Now I can see you.... my handsome savior." there it was said and his eyes lit as he realized she could see him. His hand cupped her cheek " You..... you can see?" he asked as he looked at her blinking.
She smiled and nodded " Not as clear as I did but that matters not. I can see and that is what is important right?" it was then he pulled her into his embrace with a smile and a soft prayer of thanks on his lips. But the joy would soon be washed away with the delivery of a missive from Emperor Zahak Alahim Alhazred-Kushrenada.
A servant came with it and handed it to Lee bowed and left to go about duties. Lee broke the seal and read it letting out his breath in a whoosh sound " Dami... it's from Lord Zahak... he asks I return back to Kahnikan.... he has news for me." his voice sounded pained at having been called home.
"Lee... I don't want you to go but know you have to... go with blessings and return quickly... I will wait for you." tears filled her eyes. They embraced once more and after several long moments they went to pack his things and have a ship readied for the long journey.
Once that was done they rode to the docks in silence... her heart ached at not having him around but Zahak would not send for him unless it was important. At the ship... he pulled her close and kissed her tenderly. " I will return as soon as I am able...Dami." his words made her chest squeeze but she remained stoic. " I know Lee... may the Gods grant you a swift journey, strong winds and smooth seas." she would not cry at least not yet.
He boarded the ship of her called the Wolf flying the flags of Skye and Argania on its mast.... she waved.. her heart broke and the ship set sail for Kahnikan.
