Scene --: The Duel
THE SPILLING OF BLOOD UPON THE EARTH
SIR LUCIUS
SIR ROLAND
He mutter, fitting his gloves to his hands. Scoffing, his gaze turned to the squire and glanced to the side in dismissal. Without a word, the boy ran off, only to be replaced by another knight...a friend and co-conspirator of Roland.
"Did you get my request?" He asked; an eyebrow arching.[/ul]

SIR ROLAND Taking the helm from knight, Roland walked toward the platform where Siol, his family, and the rest of his court had the privilege to view the arena. With the helm under his arm, Roland bowed to the chieftain, and glanced sideway to Lucius.[/ul]
SIR LUCIUS SIR ROLAND [/ul]
SIR LUCIUS He replied, firmly. Whatever uneasiness he felt inside was skillfully hidden, thanks to the teachings of his father. [/ul]
SIR ROLAND With that said, he turned on his heels and back to his side of the arena. Putting his helm on, Roland mounted his horse and picked up the lance. [/ul]
SIR LUCIUS SIR ROLANDLADY SIOBHAN MACLEOD Lucius liked it that way. She would dress herself in any manner she could remember that he adored. Siol did not come to collect his daughter which meant he was still very unhappy with her this morning. Instead he had sent the guards to come and gather her then her mother to whose embrace she took comfort in as they held each other and walked out to the carriage. The drive to the small arena was short, but full of mud which meant walking would have not been for the women. Siobhan and her mother moved out and then headed for the small area that was for herself, her mother and father along with his personal guards. A square of wood made them higher than the others who sat along benches on the ground. Siobhan tried to keep her eyes from wandering, even as she claimed her seat by her father's side.[/ul]
LORD SIOL MACLEOD He spoke, more for Siobhan's benefit then anyone else's. As the two men approached and gave their bows, Siol gave his own nod, and then told them they could continue. Siol was not going to enjoy watching such mindless bloodshed. His people were more eager for a show then he was. Taking his seat with care, he sighed and waited for it to begin.[/ul]
LADY SIOBHAN MACLEODSIR LUCIUS SIR ROLANDSIR LUCIUSSIR ROLANDSIR LUCIUS SIR ROLAND He sneered, raising his sword and bringing it down hard against Lucius' raised sword. [/ul]
SIR LUCIUS LADY SIOBHAN MACLEOD LORD SIOL MACLEOD He whispered to his daughter. His voice almost broke and he meant it from every part of his heart. He reached for her and pulled her to stand upright. [/ul]
LADY SIOBHAN MACLEOD LORD RUFUS MACLEOD If Siobhan did not calm, Rufus was going to take her away.
"Calm ye self or we will be retiring early little lass." he warned.[/ul]
LADY SIOBHAN MACLEODSIR LUCIUSSIR ROLAND He hissed out, raising his sword again, intending to cleave his skull in two.[/ul]
SIR LUCIUS Lucius breathed out, his chest heaving and his face paling from the amount of blood he was starting to lose. [/ul]
SIR ROLANDSIR LUCIUSSIR ROLAND SIR LUCIUSSIR ROLANDSIR LUCIUS He hissed, gripping the dagger tightly.[/ul]
SIR ROLAND [/ul]
SIR LUCIUS [/ul]
SIR ROLAND He whispered.[/ul]
SIR LUCIUS So everyone could hear. [/ul]
SIR ROLAND[/ul]
SIR LUCIUS[/ul]
SIR ROLAND There. He said it.
"Go on...kill me.." Roland baited. [/ul]
SIR LUCIUS Lucius spat, throwing the dagger away. Crawling from Roland, Lucius stood up; legs shaking visibly and barely holding him up. He wanted to collapse, right there, sleep and forget the pain gripping his entire body. His breaths were ragged and his face was pale as dark eyes turned to Siol. Siobhan.
"My...my lord Siol..." He paused, fighting a dizzying wave.
"I...I ask..for your consent to court..and marry your daughter.." It was a struggle to get out, but he did. However, his body could not take it anymore. Submitting to gravity, Lucius collapsed, falling to the ground hard.[/ul]
LADY SIOBHAN MACLEOD Her uncle seemed to hesitate, but when he released her Siobhan stayed where she was. No matter how hard it was, she would do all she could not to go run out there like a wild child and try to join the fight. Siobhan's feet wanted to pace with every action the two did. It was in Lucius' favor, then in Roland's favor, then back to Lucius. Siobhan pressed a hand to her stomach as it started to twist and turn again at the thought that Lucius was losing. Why did the fates torture them and let this scene play out for so long! Siobhan looked to her father and then back to the two when Roland lunged onto Lucius and they struggled. Sincing it was the end, Siobhan saw her father standing and moving closer to the railing. She did the same and gripped it hard so her hands were doing something to help ease her even if only a small bit. The people mumbled words and some stayed standing while others sat down to wait for the outcome of this. Lucius got the upper hand and Siobhan released a breath she had not known she was holding. Her heart was out of control and she simply stopped trying to make it calm down. Palms grew sweaty and she felt every bit of her restlessness in a tired body. Suddenly, in the distance, the sound of a voice came out. Roland was taking back his words. Siobhan let out a short lived sound that was neither a laugh nor a cry. It was a strange one that she covered up by breathing in and out. In and out. Lucius did it and Siobhan was in shock over it. She had prepared herself to bury a husband, not see him stumbling across the dirt to stand before them. Eyes looked downa t him and she frowned when he got closer. Blood covered his side and the piece of wood was sticking out of him. Lucius was pale and every movement he made only heightened Siobhan's awareness that he may still loose today. It was such a beautiful day for someone to die. His request made her heart melt and when he stumbled, she almost ran to him. Her grip on the railing tightened so much, she gained two splinters into her fingers from her grip. Eyes turned to her father and she waited for his answer.[/ul]
LORD SIOL MACLEOD Lucius request did not go on deaf ears. Giving a nod to the other men, he allowed them to go and help the knight up from his feet.
"You defended my daughter's honor and fought well, for that I will grant your request if you make it through the night. And if my daughter finds you a suitable husband. " The condition of Lucius was far worse then he had expected, then again both men had chosen death to be a dramatic ending for the moment. Siol frowned deeply as his eyes trailed over Lucius. The blood dripped to the ground and left it's mark on the earth.[/ul]
LADY SIOBHAN MACLEOD More than acceptable, she had already deemed him worthy of her. Even though she knew, he may make a terrible clan chieftain. One step at a time. When eyes went to his side, Siobhan felt her ehart beat faster at the sight of the blood. What if Lucius did not survive? She wanted to run out and hold him.
"If, he survives." Siobhan said softly as eyes lowered and she tried to hide the on coming of tears.[/ul]
LORD SIOL MACLEOD Lucius would not have to walk, for men would carry him. He would make sure the best physician would see to him. [/ul]
