Peregrine: There was a wicked grin on the moon, the half turned smile of the Cheshire cat rest above the tall frame of the building outlined in dark wood. The shadows could call out the night one by one every backward scum rose from the graves that kept them. Of shoes--ships--sealing wax--cabbages, and Kings. Laughter filtered into the night as the evil came to gather. All cities painted in their glory had their underground--this was Skye's. Their King, a man who stood eye level to most, hair of wheat color, and the very grin of the devil himself. His place was on the throne of godless people, gypsies, tramps, and thieves, Peregrine was known to walk both sides. He stood on the right, married into a life that led him into the castle, just where his wrong never need be. What passed over these hands could be paid--in blood, he ruled much the same. Half dressed, he faced the world this night, still hung over from the last. "What have you this night?" He spoke out to a fine pair of legs, finding his ride home in her candy smile.
Rhiannon: Business was always booming with those of less than stirling reputation. Indeed it was just like Rhiannon to be found visiting the Cat's Eye to mingle with the sordid. Everyone was in need of documentation, be it legal or illegal, and that meant Rhiannon was making quite the profit from their purses. Tonight she whistled her way through the door of the Cats Eye dressed in a gown made of a deep silver-blue velvet that hugged each curve and made blue eyes dance. It gave a daring display of neckline, enhanced her fiery-red curls hanging about shoulders, and made her pale skin seem almost mystical. In her hand was held a leather binder that as she moved to the bar seem to mysteriously disappear and be replaced by a sack of coins. "A lady get a whiskey?"
Aegraine: She came in search of her former servant, with two little boys in tow, Ae went to the Pub she recalled Dora mentioned so often and there she walked in accompanied by little Loomis and the child Liam. She looked about at each person trying to decide who to ask about the missing woman. Loomis tugged at the sleeve of her work uniform and Aegraine was at a loss for words.
Peregrine: The heat of the fires burst through the door, with the sounds of the pagan drummers in their fancy. Lost for cause, the pirate swallowed his key to find himself without a way out in the very eyes that met him there. "A lady can get any that she wishes on nights like this..with eyes like that.." Not that he was looking anyway. The movements in the foundation of a heritage would have his grin right in time with the shift in rhythm. He would move to fill her order, and on nights like this it was a miracle he did not find himself behind some smothered bed Where the poor did go, the very rich never followed and in this the wildness of their wicked ways came through. This was no place for ladies, and already his mind did twist. She smelled of the sea. Funny..so did he. "First one is on me, next one..you."
Rhiannon: "Ah, is that so? Most don't take to looking at my eyes." A lighthearted laugh as Rhiannon extended a hand to accept the glass,"Who knew I'd find such a fine gentleman ran the Cat's Eye." It was hard not to really know who he was by sight after having worked amongst the folks around here so long. Warm blue eyes moved over his figure not-so-discreetly before meeting his gaze again with a slow grin,"I'd be glad to buy you a drink." Indeed fine man! Of course, she wasn't deaf to his circumstance. Look no touch right? Right.
Aegraine: "Now Loomis. We will find you Mum. " she tried to comfort a little boy with his thumb in his mouth and round dark sad eyes that simply got to her. "I say, has any here seen Dora Lynch? I am told she comes here sometimes." The older boy Liam was eying a tankard of strong drink as if he would know what to do with it. "Anyone see her?"
Peregrine: He smelled of treason, in the dead of winter a deeper plot against those of Skye. Would it surprise the rest? Never. "You must be new." Peregrine lived in the concept of new faces, ones in need. "Or did I see you from atop my perch three years past, auctioning yourself like some horse for prize..tell me of the winner.." He did like a good story.
Rhiannon: Brow raised, glass poised part way to lips, Rhiannon eyed the man a moment. At first it'd seem no answer would be forthcoming as she drew a long drink of the whiskey, letting its warmth flow down her throat, but finally it was lowered. "That would be me you saw. Standing upon stage with her wares on sell. The winner?" That brought the uplifting of one corner of her mouth,"Ah thoughts of that night I prefer to keep private. Though I'm not that woman anymore." Blue eyes moved toward the woman at the door and she gave a slight frown,"Dora, you say? Afraid I haven't seen her." Like most women her smile softened at the sight of the children, hand moving in a little wave, before looking back to Peregrine,"That night brought about many a change for my life. What had you there? Did you bid on me?"
Aegraine: (Liam) He pointed to Peregrine and said in a loud clear but innocent child voice.," That is the one who won my Ma's good shoes! That is him!" Ae tried to shush the child but what did she know of children? "Liam let me buy something for you to eat, you and your brother. " Ae nodded and acknowledged," Thank you, I am going to keep searching , I'm afraid."
Peregrine: "No, I did not bid." Did he look like a man that had need? Such a smile surely did not warrant money, trade of any sort, "But had it not been for me..that night would have not happened." In all the truth he spoke, it was not long ago did he put forth his own bid to run the entire event. "A harsh truth, perhaps but there isn't much that happens I am not part of.." He would take a lean on the bar, crossing his arms over the surface. "I just remember your hair...the back of it as you went on stage..I was up in the lift. A trap that was."
Aegraine: "What do you want Loomis? I will get you a treat." She asked the little sad puppy eyed one first. " He pointed to the door and hung on Ae all the worse. The she asked.."Oh no! Liam! Put that down. You do not have leave to drink from that man's cup! Put it down! " she gave him her military stern voice and Liam set the cup down, but he swallowed the drink he'd already had taken. " Time for me to get you boys home!" Thank you all for the information. If you see Dorie, let her know I have taken the boys to Dmitrii's quarters at the Castle." She took the boys by the hand and led them out the door, not all that gentle with her grasp on their wrists "Dora! Now what has she gone and done?"
Rhiannon: "Perhaps you should acquire of her whereabouts from the book keeper?" Rhiannon recalled the woman well after a fun game of cards. They'd played quite a bit that day and talked. Though all her attention was for Peregrine now,"Is that so? I was told by my...patron...to go there. Didn't give me a reason though. Just told me that I should make the appearance as he put me up for a prize." A shrug of shoulders and roll of eyes for the mysterious nature that man had displayed. "I have a lovely scar that helps me recall that event quite well. I'd show you, but it wouldn't be lady-like." A quick wink and wider smile.
Peregrine: He would laugh then, a roll of his shoulders as he stood again. "Mmm no it would not. So what has found you?" Pere liked to talk in absent sentences void of direction. He had not thought them through, nor would he ever. However, there had been a time the likeness of his kind would have never had reason.
Rhiannon: Head turned briefly to glance over shoulder,"Farewell, miss, and I will do so if I see Dora." Situating comfortably now in a chair, bag of coins tucked in a secret pocket of her gown, Rhiannon sipped from her whiskey. "This place be no place for children, don't you agree?" Idle comment followed by a casual shrug,"Became a Physician actually after that event. Came home to find my patron passed in his sleep," the way she said that made it clear she thought that unlikely,"and it set me on the path. What of you?" He could have likely meant last week or yesterday, but Rhiannon assumed he meant since that night long ago.

And so began a possibly entertaining conversation....
