OOC Introduction[/b])Rooms: Be courteous and respectful at all. The public rooms allow everyone to enjoy the chance to interact with story members and visitors from across the net. Bolt Holders reserve the right to eject inappropriate behavior from the scene setting on sight, giving warnings when applicable. All of the rooms are to be kept at suitable subject matters and good taste, with private rooms more open to extended content. Our venues are TOS compliant.
Skye: The Winged Isle (StWI) is an alternative history scenario utilizing the history of the mid-thirteen-hundreds, our imagination, and our exposure to other settings of alternate realism. You will find that here we have rewritten Scottish history, including that of parts of European monarchies, the Knights Templar, and more. We utilize items and inventions, clothes, discoveries, etc from Europe, Africa, and Asia spanning 1300s-1600's in order to create an environment where power has shifted, the Celts are among the major players of Europe, and a Renaissance like era has come early.
Writer's Idealogy
History serves as a prop, a source of plots and characters, and intriguing curiosities. We should thoroughly immerse ourselves in the lives and times of our characters, but we must never become slaves to it. We must be prepared to to play as fast and loose with the facts as we need to, to create good story lines and when given the chance, make our creative ventures into writing sing.

*In the Historical Brief: After the fall of their former lives in Scotland, the Aberdeens came with a few ships laden with survivors of war including close family and friends. Upon arrival in Turas Lan, Isle of Skye, Scotland, in 1327... a series of events occurred that would cement the band into local favor. As time progressed, it was discovered the lauded Aberdeens were always to inherit the Isle and its empty capital castle. Those who came with them comprised the famous Griffin Court. They became renown for their skills and renouncing the traditions of Europe became renegades even in their own Country.
In 1328, tensions would see the Scotts fight among themselves. Clan against Clan, countrymen against King. Scotland split in three directions: The North ruled by Robert Bruce, the South, ruled by then King Edward II with the help of his Lowland Advisor William Maubrey, and the Hebride islands with all subsequent Scottish Chains falling in with the Aberdeens.
The war of 1328-1329 would end not only with Scotland re-unification to defeat the power that was England, but joined by the other nations of the Celts, a people denied their freedom would take it with this consequence: England once the enemy, became now a province of the same people that it once held sway over. Scotland, Ireland, Wales, England and Isle of Mann form the Gaelic Nations, a series of independently governed, para-democratic ducal-states whom retain their distinct national cultures. They benefit from a continued alliance with Skye, placing the heart of them all in Turas Lan unto the present day.

OOC: The Rules
Before reading the etiquette below, we would like to share the basic principal to summarize the question of time requirements and interaction between players/group management style:
* We are a 'working man's group. This entails that there will be periods of high activity and periods of low activity. Those who join with us should appreciate that fact and understand while this is our hobby, it does not sustain us.
*We make our group work with emphasis on communication. There is place on the board to announce any OOC items including absences, play schedules, and collaborations.
* Respect is key. We treat one another as we wish to be treated, and are all the better for it. Instances of harrasment IC and OOC are not tolerated for any reason. Point blank.
*The group requires board use! While no weekly/monthly/annual posting requirements exist, it has been to the mutual benefit of all players to post logs, long writings, start/continue scenes, and for us to stretch our creative genius as a group by the chronicle method of writing. Not only does the board serve as our information hub for story overall, it also grows over time. Announcements, schedules, etc are here. To not read the board is to lose out on valuable information, cheats you of the experience of fully being involved, and at times can serve as a hinderance to other members. Not knowing how to use a board is one thing, and with that we can help. But blatant dislike of forums will serve you to no end here. We will allow anyone to play in our rooms but in order to be a member in full standing you must read/utilize the board to some degree.
Rules
Common Sense is the Best Sense:
-How to write: We use both turn based (abc) order with/without post limits and free-form, as desired.
2) Topics: There are many topics which can make for strong and compelling stories, each in the right manner. Please label all board posts with sensitive content, so that a reader may make an informed choice. Our boards are open for business, so be tasteful in your descriptions while exploring your work.No overly graphic material (over explicit, hard 'adult' contents. These will be deleted by the Admin!. In the rooms, all sensitive subjects wishing full expression need to be in a private setting. There is nothing that can be written on that can't be done with good sense.
Signatures and Icons: Signatures max 500x250, Icon 100x100
2a)Participation: In order to join the story as a writer with a character - 18+. Character age is no lower than 15, at the MST approval of all applications. Any curious writer may watch a scene, and any open writer may play in so long as they contribute and not detract.
3) Partnerships: Be sure when beginning any sort of partnership or grouping of any sort, that you take time to understand one another's expectations, limitations, and needs.
4)Moving Around the Boards and Rooms: Respect the work of your fellow writers. If you are curious about something? Ask them. Have a question when you are in a story with them, or a concern? Voice it. We take great pride in not only writing our work but making sure that all creations are given their due.
5) The Dont's: cross rp, use someone's work without permission, play lone hero in a story, forget to share in the excitement and writing among others, not interact with people, cause theatrics because there is no issue here and we keep it that way with an iron hand if necessary.
6)The Do's: have fun, write well, write often, interact with your fellow writers, open a room, start a story, ask a question to get an answer, laugh, run amuck, kick back, make a friend, grab your dinner and sit at the computer. [/ul]
