A WALK AMONG WOMEN
LADY AISLIN CREED OF EOHMARK
[/ul] BEATHAG ABERDEEN" He opened eyes to half slits before they were kissed shut again. " Aye, aye..they looked mighty fine." He then whispered, " Da will be back, and he won't be Marco no more, he is Adam now..Adam Aberdeen, then he'll marry you and we'll have a real home." She nodded...leaving him and Edme to curl into a bed together before sealing the door [/ul] LADY AISLIN CREED OF EOHMARK" She asked softly.[/ul] BEATHAG ABERDEEN" She returned the words with a soft brogue. Perhaps now she would find sleep if things would slow.[/ul] LADY AISLIN CREED OF EOHMARK" a pause given before she spoke up once more, following Bess about with her eyes. " Bess....how many wars have ye seen in yer life time?"[/ul] BEATHAG ABERDEEN" she would coount the number. " I would say perhaps...four wars, n' many lesser battles."[/ul] LADY AISLIN CREED OF EOHMARK" Aislin kept her eyes on Bess, watching her as she moved from one area to the other. Knowledge was power, but it depended on who you got that knowledge from. People could be wrong. Aislin knew Bess would tell her what she knew, not what she heard and if she did tell her what she heard, she would make sure Aislin knew it was not completely correct.[/ul] BEATHAG ABERDEEN" The grin she gave was a ghost of itself. Books were opened, and she too sought ink to add in things while they spoke, " N' I fought in o' those wars and a great many skirmishes besides.." Flicker of writing hand as quick as one could throw a weapon. She was not out of practice! But she had something greater to preserve ; the foundations of life. Aodhan deserved it, Edme deserved it. The child in Aislin's womb deserved it ,and any child to come or that had already been born in Scotland. " War, peace, war, peace. They be like heartbeats..constant, goin' on all o'er." [/ul] LADY AISLIN CREED OF EOHMARK" Aislin paused to hear Bess's answer on that before she would make a confession. " Last night...ah did nay cry for Eamonn. Ah felt so alone though, but...ah did nay cry. Simply held my womb and laid in his place within our bed. He says he will come back, but ah am nay so naive to believe this will be the last war we will face together. Already, he has been in many in his life time. More then ah can even imagine. Many more will follow and one day...ah wonder if ah will be use to it or simply nay feel so lost and alone...if it will be done so many times that ah will simply take it like second nature. The same can be said about ye and Eirian."[/ul] BEATHAG ABERDEEN" She looked to the window where the waves slapped against the docks, boats, and places beyond the horizon. Cold was the shore now, frozen the grass. " Aye, and ye did nay cry? Nay one will think less of ye. Ye love him, ye miss him and ye are strong for his bairin. A warrior could have nay finer a wife. He says he will return, tis nothin' wrong in holdin a bit o' dark truth, but use it to spurn ye hope, " she gave advice to the woman close to her in age, but a little younger. " Ye may nay show emotion like Serena, but ye feel them. Dun let ye heart get cold by tha' darkness. Tha' is the hard part about feeling, Aislin. It can take o'er, the blacker as well as the good." She lit another candle to place in a lantern so she could see herself. Pausing for a moment. " Ye will..know what to come, ye will know what to do, but ye will ne'er become used to it..nay really. Adjusted, aye. Used to it? Aislin, e'en I am nay used tae it. Tha' is a lie..but let me say I dun wish ye tae get used tae it."[/ul] LADY AISLIN CREED OF EOHMARK" When Bess said that they would adjust but never become get use to it, Aislin knew those words suited what Aislin was trying to say better. " Aye...that is a better way to say it ah think." A old conversation popped into Aislin's head and she had not truly known how long Bess had ran this shipping business, but she was sure this may have been on the lasses mind. " Do ye think...the rumors could be true? What is the English do have ships that are surrounding Scotland slowly but surely. Would that cut off our supplies?"[/ul] BEATHAG ABERDEEN" Boots crossed one over the other. A paperweight was settled on the book so it could dry while she took up another to read what the day would entail. " Tis like cat n' mouse, only I fancy I plan tae be as a cat aye?" In truth, an English ship....that would be the only thing to call her out of port. A navy was the foundling of many nations save for a stubborn handful, and most relied upon experience sailors offering their ships to the crown. " Mm.." she cracked her bones.[/ul] LADY AISLIN CREED OF EOHMARK" a small tease though the soft smile that lingered did not last long. " If such happened...would ye leave port? Would ye go and try to fend them off at sea before they reached here? Ah am nay sure what the sea army might be like about here...never truly looked too much in armies in general...still trying to understand many things"[/ul] BEATHAG ABERDEEN" she grinned and looked to her thighs before chuckling. It felt good to have a genuine joke, " M'backside, m'bosom, m'thighs...aye me." In talk of what would happen she would shrug , " Ye know it depends great deal 'pon the will o'his majesty. On the one hand, I have children.." she looked to the room where they slept, " And we are nay lackin' in those with sailin experience." voice dropped a bit low with a bit of a smirk, " I be nay abovin' hirin' former pirates, privateers, or folk with sailin' and arms experience. M'crews are manned for battle as well as shippin.." Though she sighed softly, moving to take steps to the hearth. The boiling kettle water would lend itself to a fascinating pot to make a dark brew. Coffee. Her favorite import, and useful! Kept her awake. " On the other, if it were hard pressed time was short, or iffn they were upon the docks I would fight."[/ul] LADY AISLIN CREED OF EOHMARK" Anyone could become a traitor, there was no getting around it if people were looking for coin. " Could it truly leave us at a loss....to loose such a resource in trade? If so..how badly?" Aislin wanted to be prepared, even if she would not be able to do anything to change such.[/ul] BEATHAG ABERDEEN" She looked at her sister and that curious smirk she wore, in fact it delighted her. Had they grown together, when Bess was six Aislin would have been the bairin in her arms. They were a fascinating pair now, so close together in life. Six years were not many to seperate her. " Well, it would be quite hard, Aislin, tha' is why wot we dae is important. This is an island, and the mainland is Ainglish. There is a war, we dun trade with them now. Other nations may or may nay trade with us given this war, and crops, fishin, all stands to be lost iffn the war goes badly. This is vera.. vera important." She nodded her head. " I ne'er thought to be upon ship other than to sail from place to place, ne'er to trade, but here I be. Nay more behind a bar, and tis good. Our war may nay be in the South but it is just as real. They may starve iffn we are shut down." [/ul]
