As the day was half over, Jelenah could be found walking within the yard of her home. Balian was off seeing to a couple other things, leaving her home alone with only the staff of the Windsor Estate. In recent weeks, the lil fair haired maiden had experienced quite abit. She had nearly been kidnapped from a hideous looking Captain, whom had been part of her past, a past for which she tried to often forget. Then there was the trip to Aberdeen with the Duchess that started out well enough , but in the end had her running for her life. Something she was all to familiar with.
Thankfully, these last couple of weeks had been much better, though danger still lurked around the corner. Not danger in the sense of her alone, but that for all of Skye. This is where many would describe the time as The Calm Before The Storm, a storm for which Jelenah prayed never came. As she walked through her garden, a basket was taken up as she passed a spot on the ground she had been kneeling at earlier. In that basket were a few home grown items. Her clothing resembled nothing like that of a Duchess or to that of a Lady In Waiting. Based on looks alone, she would always appear the humble daughter of a farmer.
The white and brown dress was slightly dirtied with that of the earths soil. Hands showed evidence of a days play in the richness the ground offered. Grass blades clung to the skirts of the woman as she walked back toward the house with her basket of fresh foods and herbs. A small smile graced the lips of the quiet and marred beauty as she thought of her husband. Drest, their k-9 companion could be heard around the corner, along with the clucking and sqawking chickens he had in a tizzy.
"Drest...come... stop that now!" She scolded as she rounded the corner of her home, seeing the black dog bouncing about merrily in his trouble making act. Drest stopped and looked to her, almost posing like an innocent. His expression seemed to say: "What?...I've done nothing...it wasn't me... honest!" Jelenah's head tilted and her chin dipped slightly. Her eyes narrowed and she tried her hardest to appear displeased with him. "Keep this up and I shall have to tie you up or pen you in."
The dog would then lower his head, a paw lifted and curled around his eyes and slid down his snout. Almost making it appear as if he were ashamed of himself as he was hiding behind that black paw. Moments later, he was lying on her belly, rolled over and wagged his tail a time or two, his way of asking for forgiveness and waiting for his master to give it with a scratch to his belly. Jelenah smirked, her free hand going to her hip as the other held to handle to her basket.
"I'll not be scratching your belly until you show me you can behave for more than a day mister Drest. And do not think Balian won't hear of your misbehavior today either." Drest's tail suddenly stopped and he stared before rolling back over onto his belly, laying down like such a humble companion. "Do not think you can fool me now with your trickery... I see you have learned that well from your master." She jested as she thought on how Balian acted at times.
"You appear as one thing but truly are another..." She added with a chuckle before giving a wave of her hand in order to shoo him off. "Go now before you get yourself into more trouble. On the porch with you." She said as the dog began to stand and move off in the direction of the porch. A shake of head was made as she watched him, turning then and hiding the smile before she began to visibly inspect the chickens that were now calming down and making their way back toward the yard. All seemed well and none harmed as she let her eyes follow the last that passed her.
Della then came out with some feed, calling to the birds and Jelenah glanced over her shoulder to see the woman. A smile was given in thanks before she began to make her way to the woodpile, checking on their supply. There she'd see Roric adding to it with his ax lodged in the large stump as he gathered and piled the split logs. Jelenah would again give thanks with a simple nod and smile, both staff coming to know their Lady spoke very lil and answered with gestures more than words unless otherwise called for.
