Heya! So, I'm starting a bit of a mini-SL here: The Aquitaine and would love some help!
The gist of the story is simple: Seeing a hole in defenses of the Aquitaine, the king of France decided to invade. In the spring of 1330, he seized Brittany. This doesn't seem like much, does it? Well, in reality, France spent hundreds of years attempting to unify its people and consolidate its borders, and Louis of Valois accomplished this goal in less than six months. It is, in short, an incredible military victory for France, that has world-wide repercussions. It is, in short, as shocking as the French revolution, as unexpected as Hitler's invasion of Poland, and (for the French) about as nifty as a new iPhone launch, so I encourage anyone who is interested to jump on in the SL!
What does this mean for your characters? If your character is French, does he or she see this as a good thing? Or are they merely concerned with what this means for Skye? If your character is English, are they bothered by the loss of two of France's wealthiest provinces? All reactions are perfectly valid, and would greatly contribute to a larger role France will take in upcoming SLs.
Gossip would also be fun -- particularly given the lack of instant media that we have today, rumors and falsehoods would abound, and there would be few with actual information about the invasion to correct any of the particularly creative stories.

Hey! So far as me tossing in Cedric, I figured it'd be a good way to give some of that being English and having an opinion stuff lol if there's anything else we can brew up there I'd welcome it. Also, what's the year on this again just so I can keep track for my own mental stability. Look forward to more fun with you!

Philip took the Aquitaine in late autumn of 1329. Brittany was in the spring of 1330. And (heh...) it is currently 1333. There are more numbers and more concrete details here. I'm brewing up the next big event in France, but I haven't quite decided yet. Going with the very scientific dartboard method.

I like darts. I'll take a gander at that list and get some sort of Beathag-esque reply going soon!
