Greetings, one and all! I'm bringing to your consideration a new SL I've devised about an Venetian-Armenian Jewish merchant family from Candia, Crete. Sounds complicated? It's really not.
Here, I'll even give you a website: La Famiglia Terracina
I leave it to individual players to take the basic family history and design a character you want to play. You can pick a profession or go with the family business, which is a trade empire that will soon make its appearance in Skye's own history -- with a splash! We can easily encompass restaurateurs, printers, sailors, soldiers, artists and more in this very diverse collection of cousins. You can design your character's history to be as simple or as elaborate as you care to, preferably based around the personality sketches I've written, but all things are negotiable. Finally, all players are encouraged to choose PBs you will actually like and want to play with. (My scientific method included Googling "Italian actors." Thus commenced a lot of girly screaming in IMs to Tabs about Raoul Bova's eyes. Among other lovely physical attributes.)
For those looking for a little excitement, a long-term SL with these characters is already in the works. I am truly enthusiastic about this story, and can't wait to get it rolling.
Please e-mail or IM all questions, comments, and concerns to eventidesshadow or my main SN, rosalindavalle. I look forward to hearing from you!

Cast of Characters
Angelo and Pellegrina's Children
Abramo (deceased) - Known as Abram to his family, he was most definitely his father's son. He was responsible, dependable, and knowledgeable in nearly every subject. Rather than make him endearing, these qualities inspired a million jokes at his expense from his siblings, and he was constantly attempting to prove them wrong in competition with the ringleader -- his best friend and little brother, Rafe.
Raphaele (34) - Rafe took his brother's death poorly. He set sail on one of his father's ships, and did not come back for many years. As a lad, he was a troublemaker and free spirit, challenging his brother, competing with his cousins, and always getting a laugh out of everyone -- particularly when sober faces were required. But as an adult, he has since stepped into Abram's shoes, struggling each day to be the sort of man his father would respect. (Currently played)
Stella (29) - Stella is cynical. She's tried not to be, but that dry humor is what she does best. She is also a hopeless romantic and deeply committed to her family. When Rafe left, Stella is the one who made sure copies of every letter found wherever he made port, and kept Rafe aware of events at home, even if she only rarely got responses. (Open!)
Isaac (26) - Isaac doesn't know what he is. With Abramo dead and Rafe gone, the family looked to him to fill the role of heir to the empire, but it quickly became apparent business was not his niche. His cousins gladly stepped in, and Isaac's life filled with uncertainty. (Open!)
David (25) - David knew what he wanted to do almost since birth. He wanted to be a merchant. He didn't want to stay in one place, and his greatest passion was actually music, so he spent more than a few months on ship with his cousins, learning the routes and sellers in foreign lands. (Open!)
Elia (23) - Of all Angelo's sons, the only to ever consider becoming a rabbi was the youngest. But if anyone would make a good rabbi, it would be the studious, compassionate, and surprisingly empathic Elia. (Open!)
Grazia and Cassia (18) - The twins were born last, and of course, were raised by the entire Terracina brood. Spoiled, meddling, and full of joy only began to describe their bubbly personalities. (Both open!)
Moishe and Esther's Children
Beniamino (32) - Ben is the eldest of Moishe's children, and presumptive heir of the Terracina trade empire. Yet like the brotherly combination of Abramo and Rafe, he was rarely without Is. The two men had decided, if it must be, they would be equal partners like their father and uncle. But when they hunted down Rafe in some desert city, their cousin affirmed he was willing to come back, Ben and Is could run the business, but Rafe wanted control over buying and trading. The family should remain at home, and Rafe was willing to risk his life to prevent another of his kin dying needlessly. (Open!)
Israel (31) - The quieter of the pair, he chose to take his time and think a matter over before speaking. Some mistakenly believed him slow, particularly since he was usually smiling while thinking, but he was thankfully quick on his feet and had an elegant way with his fists. (Open!)
Laura (27) - The only girl in this branch of the family, she had learned at an early age to stand up for herself. Luckily, the entire family lived in the same building, and was nearly the same age as her cousin Stella. Quieter than her outspoken cousin, she had ambitions to read and write, skills taught only to the boys. (Open!)
Evangelista (24) - Van was eager to follow in his cousin Rafe's footsteps. Too young to remember the horror of Abramo's death, he plunged into the dark side of Chandia, and smiled like an angel during the daytime. (Open!)
