Skye’s military is placed under the command of the Mo’r Triath as commander-in-chief. The Mo’r Triath has authority over the Lord Marshal, the General of the Army, and the Admiral of the Fleet.
Cavalry was the main striking force in the army and not counting on cavalry was like signing one's defeat. The Cavalry is divided into Regions…which is broke down further as Battalions, then Companies, Platoons, and down to Squads.
Armies are divided into "Battles" (divisions). Each is a self-contained formation including pikemen, infantry, and archers, although there are instances of cavalry-only divisions and infantry-only divisions. They are based upon the Mo’r Triath’s command strategy or on the region from which they were raised; There were traditionally at least 3 Battles: they are Vanguard, Main, which consists of a Center, Left, and Right, and Rearward. Each Battle (division) is divided into regiments, then down to Battalions, then Companies, Platoons, and down to Squads.
Since the Vanguard attacked first, they are considered positions of honor.
Below is a breakdown of Skye's vast army divided into regions. This does not include armies sanctioned by allies or mercanaries.
The one difference of all the regions is Eohmark. They have no infantry, as Lord Eamonn's light cavalry is so highly effective in the terrain of Eohmark.
Mo’r Triath - Lord Adam Aberdeen
At the Mo’r Triath’s discretion are several tools of war:
o WeaponsMaster - Lord Dmitrii Zurban
To act as purveyor of unique and varying weapons for practice with in times of peace and for use during attacks in war, to maintain a knowledge of seige machines and useful tactics.
o Order of the Talons – Sir Kendrew of Dumfrieshire
These are members of the order of knights or elected persons known as The Order of the Talon, an order of guardianship and supreme fealty. The Gold Talons are those responsible with guarding the Duke and his chosen persons both local and foreign, while White Talon are responsible with guarding the Duchess and her chosen persons both local and foreign. Both divisions may be called upon to serve as liaisons and informants in times of need. They are known to one another for being in possession of a gryphonclaw pin with either dark golden or white feathers.
o Outriders – 300 horse… commanded by a Captain
o Rangers – 300 horse… commanded by a Ranger Elite (Dame Kaelyn Uruqhart-Raven)
The Lord Marshal – Lord Marshall Eamonn of Eohmark
The duty and service that the Lord Marshal of Skye shall serve is that of spokesperson for all the regional Marshals and military representatives of allied nations. There can only be one Lord Marshal; that position is presently filled by Lord Marshal Eamonn of Eohmark. All regional Marshals and military representatives of allied nations shall answer to him and the Lord Marshal then speaks directly to the Lord General of the Army, the High Admiral, and the Mo’r Triath of Skye. If the national security of Skye is threatened or the civil peace of the nation as a whole is in danger, then the Lord Marshal shall be directed by the Mo’r Triath or Mo’r Okesula to step in and take the necessary actions to keep the peace in the regions as a whole. The Lord Marshal shall not to be summoned over regional or civil disputes on the small scale. This would be a violation of the duties and tread on the duties of the appointed Regional Marshals.
The General of the Army – General Maahes Asad-Aziem
The General of the Army of Skye falls in line under the Lord Marshal, unless separated by the Mo’r Triath. His specific concern and charge are that of the Army alone. The purpose of appointing and designating The General of the Army is this simple fact alone: Skye is a large isle with many people calling her home. The Lord General shall be overall responsible for the training of all infantry soldiers and archers. At times, he shall take command of the WeaponsMaster, Engineer, Order of the Talons, Outriders, and Rangers.
High Admiral of the Fleet Lord Jack Flynn (80 ships total)
The High Admiral of the Fleet falls in line under the Lord Marshal, unless separated by the Mo’r Triath. He is responsible for all ships and orders assigned to the Fleet. The Fleet shall consist of the Black Fleet, which are Guardians of the Court Ships (20 ships total), the Gold Fleet - Main Battle Fleet (40 ships total), the White Fleet - Guardians of the Realms Shipping Lanes (20 ships total) and the Commander of all Ports
The Regional Marshals –
The regional marshals of Skye fall in line under the Lord Marshal. Their specific concern and charge are that of their regions alone. The purpose of appointing and designating regional Marshals is this simple fact alone: Skye is a large isle with many people calling her home. The Lord Marshal cannot be everywhere at one given point in time and will only intervene in a regional dispute if the situation threatens national security and otherwise cannot be handled by the appointed Regional Marshals.
o Each Regional Marshal shall have the following...
Below is a listing of the categories and rankings that each Marshal shall have under their full control. Please bear in mind that the size of the forces will vary region by region. Each Regional Marshal shall have more than one battalion under their command. Each Marshal shall have one Second-in-Command.
o - Second-in-Command
Second in line under the Marshal and answerable to him directly. Should the Marshal be unable to give commands and direct the battalions under service of the Marshal, then with expressed permission by the Marshal the Second-in-Command shall have control of the battalions in place of the Marshal. There is only one Second-in-Command.
o - Battalion Captain
Prime leader and commander of their battalion and receive their orders from the Marshal or Second-in-Command.
o - Battalion Lieutenant
Secondary leader and commander of their battalion and assistant to the captain of the battalion to direct and maintain organization. Answerable to those above in rank.
o - Battalion Sergeant
Third leader and commander of the battalion and assistant to the lieutenant of the battalion to keep the ranks and maintain organization. Answerable to those above in rank.
o - Knights
The knights compose about a third[1/3] of the battalion as a whole. Most of them are nobles or other recognizable figures with the title of "knighthood". They are the elite composition of the battalion and typically have a vast range in weapon choices and knowledge. Some knights might be of the heavy horse grade, and some might be of the light cavalry grade.
o - Volunteer Riders/Citizen Horsemen
The citizen riders are the local people who are either enlisted or chose to bear arms with the battalion and compose the remaining two-thirds[2/3] of the battalion. Their knowledge in terms of weaponry is limited to one or two and are consider more expendable than the knights. These men are among the bottom in ranking and are the lowest. They answer to the knights in the unit and rarely have direct discussions with the leaders above other than the simple fact of executing orders.

There are many different types of naval fights… ranging from full royal naval battles to smaller skirmishes and piracy.
One of the major problems was coastal raiding. Very few major wars have been determined by naval battles, although some during the recent years of war helped each side get the upper hand.
The basic tactic of naval battles is to get the ship close enough to ram the other ship and then board her and fight the rest of the battle on the deck. There are still no major long range weapons that can be helpful except longbows and crossbows. Cannons are useful in short distances but still not powerful enough as they are still in their infancy.
The switch from oared fighting ships to sailing ones happened because while countries were still using galleys, their enemies were using sailing cogs. Cogs rode much higher in the water, and therefore had an automatic advantage in a battle which made it hard for the enemy to board the ship. Castles came about when each side tried to develop a new height advantage.
The weapons used at sea were the same as those used on land mostly - bows, axes, swords, spears, darts, grapnels for scaling hulls, and rudimentary cannons.
Gun ports are niches cut into the hull so the gun could be held on a lower deck and therefore not unbalance it.
