Ealora:With Maahes busy most days until lunch when the kids would visit him, Ealora has set her appointment for lunch time so he could take a break from his work with the Clan gathering to join her at her next appointment with Briseis. The kids were no doubt disappointed but Ealora had left the at the townhouse still excited thinking that they would have a new baby brother or sister when she came home, despite how much she had tried to explain it was still a few months away. She had sent out notice to him this morning reminding him of the appointment and to meet her in front of the Baby Mine shop. With hands cupping her swollen belly, she moved between the toys and the clothing in the front of Briseis shop waiting for him to arrive.
Briseis:"I'll just be one more second Mrs. Aziem!"
Ealora:Briseis called from the back briefly breaking Ealora's gaze of a little dress for a baby girl. "Take your time, I am waiting on my husband as it is" She called back as she reached out to finger the tiny pink dress with lace at the end. Very elegant and yet so very cute at the same time.
Maahes: Dressed for the War, the Lord General never took a day off. Decorated in armor held together by leather, he would always appear armed to the teeth, yet found little reason to use any. With the days of peace, the weapons were but a reminder to always expect the unexpected, and prepare for the worse. Training would continue, with the signing of new recruits, young men with dreams in their head and stars in their eyes. Maahes had become a town hero, a celebrity of sorts, with children fighting on who gets to pretend to be Lord General next. 'But your hair is not black enough' 'you are too small' 'I've got the best sword' 'he can kill with his hands.' their little voices carried, stilled into complete silence as Maahes passed on his way to the shop, where his beloved wife had reminded him so dearly they had a meeting. The door would nearly be taken off it's hinges as he passed through it, dark eyes sweeping across the room to find his wife with--a dress! Ha! "She here?" He breathed as he closed the distance between them, suddenly very nervous with so many objects that could easily be knocked over. "Is she late?"
Ealora:As the door swung open or rather burst open, Ealora didn't even flinch, merely put the dress back in its place on the rack on the wall and turned towards him, a small smile pulled across her lips as her hands stroked upward from the underside of her belly before reaching out to him and pulling him down for a kiss as it hurt to push her toes up so she could meet him halfway. "She is in the back fixing up the exam room" She murmured low as her lips left his. No need to scare the poor girl, she was probably going to be terrified enough as it was, everyone was of the bull that was her husband. "Nervous?" A slender brow etched upward as amusement curled her lips into a wider grin.
Briseis: When the door of her shop had nearly swung off its hinges, Briseis golden head peaked around the corner. Gods above! Eyes widened as she took in the General, he was HUGE! Cheeks flushed at the thought as sapphire eyes that had taken only a second to take in the large man now shot to the floor. Rolling against the doorframe, she moved inside the exam room to light the last of three incense sticks of sandalwood scattered about the room and to check the oil she was warming in a steam pan before she moved to the door again. Inhaling a deep breath she pulled the apron up to tie around her neck to protect the front of her clothes before with shaking hands knotted in front of her, she moved from the room to greet the both of them. "Lord General, Lady Aziem.." Sapphire eyes locked on the floor where a moment ago she would of looked Ealora in the eye. "I'm ready for you" Forcing her hands apart, she ushered to the room behind her.
Maahes: "No I am not nervous. I fear nothing." His eyes took on the little healer, and the room she ushered them to..boy it sure was dark and scary looking. "Why do we go back here?" He barked, asking in his rough manner. "This cannot be done here? What will happen? You take the baby out?" He was confused, clearly. "Explain to me what you are doing." His arms the size of the woman's head cross over his chest, as he stood rooted to the ground. "This does not hurt her does it?" Maahes, had only witnessed one birth before, and he was torn between what to do. Hold Tommy's hand, or punch the healer who was causing her such pain. Tommy had been strong through the entire thing, but he had never seen her so weak before. It broke him, all up until he held her first child in his arms--so scared that he would break it, the first of the twins.
Briseis:"Th...This is the exam room." She explained in a stutter before biting at her lower lip. "Nnn..No, it will not harm her or the baby and Nn nn no , I cannot exam her out here, unless you wish the whole town to see your wife exposed?" Ohh was that a bit of sass. Her cheeks flamed as her shoulders hunched forward, completely terrified of the Ladies husband. At first she had not minded when Ealora had sent notice to her. Now she had wished she had more backbone to say no. "Please, Sir." She stated simply after a moment before pausing, she couldn't ask him to trust her, he didn't know her, she got that. "Will you give me a chance?" There, that was better then will you trust me. "I am simply going to exam your wife and her belly where the baby is. We'll go from there. You may stop me at any time to ask a question or if you feel uncomfortable with what I am doing." Though her voice wavered, it sounded more sure then she felt. This was her job, her profession and she was going to try to remain a professional.
Ealora: At any other time Ealora would of felt like laughing, her husband booming and someone ACTAULLY cowering but the poor girl had enough on her shoulders with hormonal women all day. "Maahes, behave" As she purred up at him, she reached back to squeeze his behind before gripping his arm. "Come on, you heard the woman." She tugged at her husband to get him to the back room.
Maahes:"You do not need to give me permission to stop you." He spoke a little softer, a more sobering sound. Maahes would follow them, but would say nothing else watching as the woman worked. He wasn't comfortable being here, and certainly didn't understand why she could not do it outside? What was she going to do? Stick her hands up Ealora? His brows would raise in wonder, watching them then as his wife moved around the bed. The woman was beautiful, for this he was certain, having always held a weakness for blonde. It was a national desire, as all the women held dark hair, and dark eyes "This baby kicks too much, I feel it even when she sleeps up against me. Can you make it stop?" An ignorant simple minded man was he not?
Briseis:For a moment Sapphire eyes rose to his face as he said she didn't need to give him permission to stop her. She believed it but one split second her eyes drew upward and they were down again as she let Ealora lead her husband. "There is a seat there General, or you can stand by your wife's head." Any other time, men accompanying their wives to an exam was comical, most didn't understand what was happening or what she did to exam mother and child but she didn't smile or laugh for the General's discomfort at being here. He was to...well Gods above he was HUGE, he could break her neck in two seconds! Kam was spying on THIS man? It made her worry more for him then before. She helped Ealora to get up onto the exam bed and then helped her to push back and lay back flat head and feet on the table. At the General's question she did not raise her head to look at him as the question was posed at her. "Actually Lord General, the babies movement is quite critical in development, its movement is not only to find a more comfortable position inside their mother, but its widely thought by physicians and midwives that the movement of limbs is an exploration of something they have never known before, their body." She moved to untie the robe and push it open to expose Ealora's belly. "You've grown quite a lot Lady Aziem" To Ealora she spoke and smiled as her fingers worked along the curves of Ealora's belly, to scope out the girth of it. "How much is the baby moving, on a day basis?" She removed her hands from Ealora's belly to move over to her counter of supplies and a book with ink and quill ready to jot down notes.
Ealora: Celadon eyes found her husband, quite upside down but she reached for his hand with a smile as to comfort his discomfort. Wow, she was quite impressed with Briseis answer. Turning her eyes away from her husband, she looked at the midwife again. "He complains, but you should know he really loves it." She teased with a laugh before growing serious. "Ah well, on a daily basis, hand or foot movement is about once or twice every hour or two." Celadon eyes rolled to look at her husband again as she continued. "Actually, a friend of mine posed a very good theory for the babies movement. Something about multiple babies? My fathers mother once had triplets and my mother had twins. I don't know about Maahes family.." Oh she was looking forward to look on his face with this information.
Maahes:Maahes would take a seat, crossing his arms over his chest as the woodwork of the chair cried out under him. Bulk of a man was huge! "You would have known this had you been able to keep appointments." His smart remark would earn him a bad reputation had he not one already. "I trust that your emergency is over. Ealora has only one other....mid..he..friend, who does this. I do not wish him delivering our child, I am certain you would not have business anymore if something were to happen." He quieted listening to Ealora, knowing of her brothers, knowing that he himself had noticed how large she had gotten so fast. With a shake of his head, he would dismiss her wonder, there were no twins in his family that he knew of, but his family was a touchy subject and best not be pressed. "We only need one child, she is already stretched too thin."
Briseis:Her head dipped, throwing golden locks into her face as she scribbled notes in the book that was Ealora's file. For a moment she hummed in a response, nothing sensible, just a noise as she contimplated the babies movement and her family history of twins and triplets. She paused waiting for the General to respond with his and got a remark on her canceled appointment with Ealora. Cheeks behind the curtain of golden curls flamed red. Did he know about Kam? She bit the inside of her cheek until it cried out nearly to breaking the skin and she released it. "Ah yes. My emergency was taken care of.." Quite guiltily spoken? Had it really been an emergency with the way she said it with such guilt? "ah, hmm, well.." She scribbled another note then set the quill down before turning to move to the basin of warm oil and dip her hands in before rubbing over her fingers and palms. "It's not been proven yet, they facts stand that not many families do produce multiple babies so its hard to say what causes multiple children from one union but we do know that its more common in families who have multiples that in offspring will often result in multiples themselves. I can safely say we can not rule that out, with your growth and movement." Pressing her hands against Ealora's belly again, she began to move them in a slow working circle. "Where is it you're feeling the movement Ealora? Here...Here...or Here?" Each one spoke , her hands stopped, on the left side of her belly, on the right and in the middle.
Ealora: "All over" Was Ealora's answer as she shot a glare at her husband, bull!
Briseis:A slow smile worked over Briseis lips at the look on Ealora's face but also the General's words. "I am sorry General, in conception, you cannot choose if there will be one, twins or in this case triplets. I can not be certain but with describing the movements, its very likely you are having twins or triplets as detailed in Ealora's history since we do not know your own. I cannot say for certain but I cannot rule it out either. But to answer your earlier question as well, if the baby's or babies movements are quite to much, you can massage her belly, press in very gently, not to hard, this simulation on the outside would be like, rubbing your babies back as if they were squirming in their bed on the outside. Like this..." An she mimicked the movements on Ealora's stomach for him before taking a step back to wipe her hands on her apron before dipping her hands in the oil again and moving to Ealora's feet to begin massaging the swelling down. "I read the notes the midwife Miss Thorn wrote in your file, over your son, Rah I believe, his conception. I did not see she attended the birth. How did that go? I saw her notes on some elevated stress causing false labor and spotting? She put you on bed rest for a while?" She asked it of them both as she worked. This was a time to square away questions so she could attend this birth, the foot massage she offered to soothe her patients, all of them, well except the General.
Ealora: Ehhh, that was a touchy subject with them both. Rah's birth. "Ah yes, she wasn't able to tend our son's birth because of circumstances out of our control. I can't really tell you how it went, I was...out of it." Ealora's face winced with that. "I stayed in bed for a small amount of time, not all of it. I am stronger then I appear, as is our children."
Maahes:"She did not, she did not stay in bed but one day, and for it our son suffered as well as his mother. Had she listened to me, she would have been there, and so would I." If she couldn't he would, "So you see the reasons I have little faith in you. I am worried she will not listen, and I need her to have a good strong Dr. Ealora is my wife, and I do not expect her to be so easily submissive, but when she does not listen she will answer to me. You will tell me this yes?" Those were some hard times, and frankly he had yet to recover from them. "Anulia, the woman I was to mate found our son floating down the river. I later found my wife dead. The crazed madman bring her back, and she now listens..but I worry for this child. When he healed her, he made her...something, something horrible, and what of this baby? It is not a freak growing in there too?" His questions were honest, "It will not kill her? If it is not more then one I fear it too large. Can she pass it?" Turning his head back to his wife, he would bare teeth in his growl, "It has nothing to do with strength Ealora, it was stupidity." He corrected her, in his harsh manner, quickly realizing how horrible he sounded he softened his voice, "But that is past us, and with this baby we look forward to our bright future. So take care of her."
Ealora: Ealora hissed from the bed, the long dead panther in her awoken with each word he spoke. Oh she had been turned into something horrible? And he still managed to touch her, what a trooper! A Freak?! That's right Maahes keep jamming that foot further into your mouth for it was apparent he wouldn't be tasting any part of Ealora anytime soon. Her jaw tightened with each word and even when he softened his voice, she did not soften. "I would of stayed in bed had you not gone running off to save Tommy and then I had to save your ass or have you forgotten that mister insanity in a moaning cell? Don't you dare put this blame on me!" Her hand slammed into the table before her teeth locked together and she let out a low growl like a panther pissed off.
Briseis: A fight was brewing and she had started it. She knew it even more Maahes spoke. She knew it when Ealora first spoke and she shrank back against the wall with her hands in front of her and her head bowed. She knew Maahes was talking to her but she didn't answer and with good reason as Ealora herself started in. "All right, all right...wait wait.." She soothed as Ealora growled on the bed. "This isn't good for the babies.." Where she was getting the courage to stand up against the fabled Lord General and his pirate wife she didn't know. The midwife in her? "General, I do apologize, I did not see the touchy subject, but I also apologize for I fall to see your lack of faith in me. I see the need you have in wanting a strong physician to bring the birth of your child or children safely into the world. I can promise you that I will do everything in my power to do just that. Ealora is my patient, as if your children but I am not her Warden who will run to you every time she steps out of the house when you tell her not to. I cannot ask you to trust me when you do not know me, but I do ask you to trust in the skills I have acquired in monitoring and bringing your child/children safely into this world. As such, I am the midwife, you are the husband....what you think might be safest for her pregnancy is not necessarily what I will think is right and best for her. Ealora is my patient but you are her husband and if she will not obey a command I give for her safety and the babies within her then yes, I will bring it to your attention the minute it meets mine because you are the father and her husband." She stopped there to take a breath but also to work the rest of what he said over her mind. "She was...dead?" This was uncertain to Briseis, people didn't come back from the dead.
Ealora:"I wasn't dead, I was made to LOOK dead.." Ealora chimed from the bed, well more like growled.
Briseis:"Ah, hmm" Briseis didn't know how to address that. "Your child or children are a beautiful combination of you both. I cannot imagine something horrible or freakish to come of children created by two people so beautiful and strong. I honestly have to say at this point, that it is not one baby. I am most certain you are to have twins or triplets and other women have successfully had multiple children at one time. I have myself delivered a few twins in my time and promise to do everything in my power to see your wife and children through this. Now Ealora, you are my patient, but I will not hesitate to find you another physician if you are not going to heed my advice nor command in the well being of your body and the babies you carry. I will not hesitate nor think twice about it, for if you cannot trust that my commands are best for you, then I cannot trust that I am the best physician for your care." Gods above she put on a brave front but it was apparent by the choking of her voice that the tiny midwife was near tears!
Maahes:"You do not make commands, you make sure that baby comes out, and that my wife is well. You can do this yes?" He gave a nod, sitting forward leaning on his elbows with a look to Ealora, "That is all I ask. The rest I do not think she will be so willing to put herself in danger this time. She knows I will leave her, and take the children with me. She is right, it was not all her fault, but it will not happen again." He reached out and touched Ealora's knee, "I'm sorry habibi, you just keep those spirits up. You keep your feet up, and I will see to it you get the best. You will listen to her yes?"
Briseis: "I can do that yes.." She breathed a sigh of relief, any more heated words and she would of left the room, unable to hold back her tears any longer. Raised voices didn't bode well with her at all. She did not like confrontation, directed at her or not. She wasn't going to comment on the rest, even if she thought the both of them needed counseling. Their reputation proceeded them very well. "Ealora, as it is my suspicion, I really do think in your case that you are carrying twins if not triplets like your family history. As such, I really would like you to take it easy for the rest of your pregnancy. If you feel tired, I am asking you rest, if your feet hurt, put them up. I am not recommending bed rest yet but you have not completely extended yet and your belly will probably extend further, it might be a possibility in the future that you will need to start a lying in period, probably earlier then most women but I would like to continue seeing you at least two to three times a week till your delivery." She moved back a step and then turned to scribble more notes in Ealora's file.
Ealora: Her jaw did not loosen but she did not jerk her knee away from her husbands touch. She was quite surprised both of them were ganging up on her. Take it easy or else she would be dropped by both of them, perfect. The day just brightened didn't it? One part of her could understand Maahes anguish, some of her actions had caused their baby to be sent down a river while she had been made to seem dead but oh he had struck a chord in calling her horrible and their child...children...freaks. "I understand Maahes, Briseis" Her voice was still the exotic undertone it had always been but somewhat bitter and cold. Oh yes, she was still fuming mad. "May I get up now? My back is killing me.." She didn't wait for an answer though, struggling to get up from the laying position, this was why laying on her side was so much easier, her organs were squashed.
Maahes:Maahes would stand to offer her his arm to help her pull her way up, "Perhaps we should move you back into the townhouse until the child has passed." He grinned, "How ever many there are. Would be a blessing to me." Rubbing her back as he helped her to the floor, Maahes would turn to the healer, "You live here? So close to Ada, she is a good healer of the mind, you should see her." He had noticed how much she had flinched at him, and felt horrible really. he never means to come of so harsh. He would wrap his arm around his wife, tucking her under him as he always did, loving the feel of her against him, and the easy way he could touch her stomach as they went. "You need of anything send word to my barracks, and send the bill there as well. I will leave you with this for now." He would place the little coin purse before her, with a few pieces that would be more then enough to foot the bill. With that he would start for the door.
