Maahes:The day had been spent quickly, or so he felt with the days shorter then they once were. The sun set too quickly in the colder months, the days seeming so dark that he could not separate the night. It had been nearly a month since he had last been able to spend an evening with his wife, but Nora would simply not let him be long without one child or the other. Everyday she sent one sometimes two to have lunch with their Papa while he spent his days working over the many papers and subjects that came cross his eyes. After all the candles had been lit, and the sun was setting against the horizon he would summon a soldier, have him write a missive and deliver it swiftly. Ealora was to wear her finest dress, let down her hair, and meet him for dinner. The page was quick to nod, sending word out for the Lady General.
Ealora:The days were getting shorter, reminding them all that winter was not far behind so when Nora sent one or two kids out to their Daddy for a small amount of quality time, she wasn't going to object. She seemed to be growing by the day and because of it, could do less and less with the kids let alone around the house. A contract had been made with a builder and she spent her time ordering the crew around who was making the babies new room. Her mood had soured very quickly with Ra's impending birth when she could do less and less but this pregnancy, she had the experience to know the most she could do was sit and basically act a Queen and this time it seemed to suit her more. She wasn't going to allow herself to sour this time, at least that's what she told herself when she was stuck indoors before her feet were swelling by the minute and Nora wouldn't let her out of Maahes overstuffed chair, at least until Maahes note showed up. "Go, the kids be in bed soon anyways" Nora coo'd as she helped heave Ealora out of her chair. Wear her finest dress? Ha! Even her lips curled up into a grin at that. By this point even Maahes pants didn't fit! At least Nora had the mind to order extra Sari's, one had come seeming with extra material and the woman helped her wrap it before sending her out the door. It took a while longer, having to bring the carriage around to get Ealora into town to spend the evening with her husband, the moon was all ready high in the sky when she arrived, the streets dark but ever familiar as the door was pushed wide open to allow her in.
Maahes:The page returned nearly an hour passed before his eyes lost in paperwork, plans, the future it was not long before his door was pressed open to announce the arrival of his wife. Standing he would put out the candle coming to the street with a half cokeed grin at his lovely lady and her growing form. Had she nearly doubled since their last night spent together. "I thought I said dress." He barked, but in his rough tone that could pass as a purr as he came to take her into his arms, pressing a kiss to her lips, and tucking her under his shoulder as he turned for the tavern. "My children, are asleep? Or does my son still cut teeth?" Knowing he had been up all week a crying mess unable to understand why there was such a pain on his 5th tooth. "He was not very happy to even see me, when the came for a visit." Maahes couldn't wait for the campaign to be over, but with all the clans gathering how could he even think of going home now? Touching the small of her back, he would lead her like a gentleman through the tavern where a table was already waiting, in a private part of the inn.
Ealora:"This is the best your going to get, to cloth me in a dress would take more fabric then they have in Skye"She teased with a smile curling her lips upward as a singular arm rose to beckon him to her. Her head tilted back as he bent to kiss her, pressing up that extra inch so he didn't have to bend to far, but with her he always bent far, it couldn't be helped. "They are on their way asleep, Ra was still fussing but I think his crying will wear him down to sleep despite the pain his teeth are giving him." Thank the heavens for his weight, or at least him tucking her under him, she used him to waddle her way to the Inn. "He is teething, it is natural. I wouldn't take it personally sweetheart" A slender brow perked upward as he held the door opening for her, guiding her through the tables to a private room in the back. "Ah, your going to divorce me aren't you since I am so fat an ugly and this is to do it in private hmm?" She was teasing of course, it was very romantic in a 'he wasn't trying to be romantic' way. "How is the clan gathering coming along?" Enough questions about the children, she hadn't seen him since he had gotten involved in the clan gathering.
Maahes:He would snort at her words, shaking his head. Maahes seemed just as much of a mess as she, in dire need of his beard trimmed, and a good night in his own bed. "I do not believe in divorce. The only way for us to part is through death, and I will happily take you out if you so wish." He teased, but none would ever know as he was never one to hold such a smile. Known would know him to be teasing, save for the woman at his side. The candle light was beautiful against her skin, but when he leaned forward he smiled catching her eye--how beautiful she was. "I think you are perfect the way you are. I would not have you any other way. I like my women big, but you know this. It is why I pick you." His grin pushed his lips back further, until the tendress came , and he would give her their order. Setting back he would take a drink of his ale, looking over her then...boy she was big. "You have seen the midwife? Is it time for her to move in?" She was big enough to give birth he thought.
Ealora:"oh such romantic words, how could a woman stand it. Death next to birthing this baby would seem like a picnic" Celadon eyes rolled but sparkled as if she were laughing without letting the sound escape her lips which turned up into a smile. She let out a mock gasp at his words before capturing his face as she leaned up as far as she could go and pulled him down to give him a peck on the lips before moving to lower herself into the chair. "Now there is my romantic husband, keep me big by keeping me pregnant." She winked with the tease as the tendress came to take their order. The woman paused at the look of Ealora before sweeping by and back out. Yes, she knew she was big. "Actually no, she canceled our last appointment saying she had something important to tend to but that boy, oh what's his name" Her memory had not improved with pregnancy it seemed. "The one that helps out with some of the harvest, he works for her sometimes, said the lady seemed to have met someone. I believe his words were 'looks like the General, 'cept not as big or scary, just tan'" She hummed with a laugh as she leaned forward to take up her glass of cider. "But our appointment before that, she said I was all most as big as when I had Ra, or at least by the notes since she wasn't here for that one. Says I still have quite a few months in front of us. That didn't help in imaging birthing this baby. He or she is going to be huge. It's all your fault." She winked with the tease again before taking a large swallow of cider. "You haven't told me how the plans for the clan gathering is going..." Yes subject change, she wanted to know about him. He hadn't been home in a while, she missed her husband damn it!
Maahes:"You blame me for this big baby?" He acted surprised, before his hand settled over hers, the size of it compared very greatly. "They compare anyone with sun on their skin to me. Even the sailors cannot compare." He scoffed setting back in his chair, eyeing her like some king on his throne. "You know better then to question me about subjects I can't talk about, at least not here." But when? He could already hear her words, "But things go smoothly." Leaning in again his exotic features seemed dark and merciless, no doubt the very reason not a soul would cross him. "I do not know these politics, they all answer to Bess, but all have their own law. They resist me, but respect me. They fear me, they know I can break their neck with one hand, but I have never seen such big men. Some even meeting my eyes, but none looking down to me." Arrogant ass that he was. This was exciting for him, and it was clear. Maahes liked this new roll he was given, and it kept him from the battlefield. "And we will be finding you a new midwife, I care very little what business she has. You come first."
Ealora:"Yes, I blame you" She giggled, Ealora giggle? She was in a rather good mood and why not, she got to spend time with him! But the giggle was for his surprised look, however fake. Her fingers moved under his own, curling them around his own. That slender brow rose, but she didn't need to say it, he all ready knew. But when, he was never home for her to ask but she couldn't scold him nor fight with him about it, now when his eyes gleamed like that, so excited. "they are no different then founders of their own land, despite the fact they live on Skye soil. All having people's lives in their hands. Does it not seem familiar to you? We are clan leaders ourselves Maahes though we don't call it that. Red Wall, filled with refuges's now native to our land and to Skye. I have no doubt they fear but respect you but it does not mean they trust you, that will come as you earn it. Just as you rose through the ranks of the Army, so to you must raise your status with them." This she missed, being able to talk situations out with him. Her head tilted as she watched him in the candlelit and it was easy to begin to fall in love with him all over again, even if she still was very much in love with him. "no, I don't want another midwife, all the ones at the infirmary can barely spare time with all their patients. This one she stands alone, she has her own shop and is more one on one then them. She has the air of a slave about her Maahes, I know she is her own free woman now, but I see the slave in her and we both know what that was like. I tried finding out more about this gentleman she was seen with but no one seems to think he even exists even if the boy saw him. Please, my next appointment with her, will you try to come? meet her? If you still don't like her then we'll look for another." There she was trying to compromise.
Maahes:Maahes gave his wife a look, a deep look of being unable to understand her. "I have paid my dues. They are land owners, family leads, but I won them freedom from England. Let any of them question that." He would crack his knuckles, and every eye would shoot in the direction of the General and his wife. They were a notorious couple, one of the fabled families in Skye, and still one of the most respected. They fights however, where some of the city's favorite pastimes, and it was clear that when Maahes sat forward again and rose his brows at his wife, one was itching on the tip of his tongue. "I don't care if she was a slave, Ealora. If she isn't keeping her appointments, then what good is she? I pay her good money, for good reason. If she does not show again I'll personally find you another. I give her one more chance. I'll go with you, but it is not my place. That is the woman's job."
Ealora:She couldn't help but let out a hum of a laugh. Yes her husband knew the point of a sword more then he knew of politics. Arms folded over her belly she watched him lean forward. oh she knew that look on her face and just as the fight was itching on his tongue, it was on hers. "Just as they have sweetheart. I am merely giving you my opinion based on what it would feel like to have one of them come to Red Wall, I would be suspicious of them too." Her tongue snaked out to lick at her lips as she sighed, letting her head tilt as he seemed to growl low, it was enough to know without looking that people were watching. "You pay good money? WE pay good money Maahes, I didn't lie on my back an impregnate myself, although if I had it would of been a national wonder. I am merely stating I understand a midwife is also a woman, custom to her own trials that mean breaking an appointment. I am not saying this one was right to meet some man but I am not going to jump on her for not keeping it if it was important. But I will agree with you on one measure, WE will give her one more chance and if you don't like her then I do agree to find another one but don't sit here giving judgement then say its a woman's place, your either all for it, or not at all. Don't go half in Maahes, either we make this decision together or you respect my decision alone. You can't have it both ways."
Maahes:"You getting child without me, would make my life less stressful. You would not need me at all." He spoke through gritted teeth, but with a small smile. "I'm sorry, Ealora, but look what happened with Rah, you need a steady healer to keep you well, our child well. I give her one chance, and then after that I pick. Deal? Or I can break her face in..it is up to you." Maahes set back in his chair folding his arms over his chest while the dinner was placed before them. "Of I find this man who is so important, hold him in my prison until child is born healthy, or I could even put her in a tower." He was teasing then, and the look over his face spoke the truth. "She came highly recommended in Aislin's place, I would hate to see that name ruined. Slave or not, she must make her name true if she ever truly wishes to be free from her binds." Maahes held up his hands then, the marks where he was once held very clear. "I was her lands, and I told you I would be a good husband. Have I not been good to you?"
Ealora:She bit the inside of her cheek stopping short of drawing blood to keep from laughing. Not need him? Did he realize that she needed him simply to breath? She was a fish out of water without him. Fingers massaged at her belly as he mentioned Ra's birth and she began to chew the inside of her cheek again. Bringing that up was not easy to hear, it never was but he won the conversation the argument over it. Yes she could see his point considering Ra's birth. She couldn't help but let out a 'humph' of a laugh when he offered his deal of him picking the midwife or punching the old one. Poor girl. "You can pick the new one, not punch this one." Her lips twitched into a grin as Celadon rose from the food being put on the table to watch him as he rose his hands to show the marks that had once bound him as a slave. "I know that, but I doubt very much she does. She is struggling, it is not hard to see. But I do see your point, especially when its mentioning what happened with Ra and I promised you I would protect our children's lives whether within the world or within me. Perhaps when you meet her, you can guide her, if you like her and decide she is right for us. You have been a very good husband Maahes, you changed the heart of a pirate. It makes you a better man then any other I know....besides my priest of a brother" She added the latter with a grin as she reached for his hand and took it within her own. Her wide stomach would not allow her to lean forward to press her lips against his hand but she could at least squeeze it reassuringly. "I do agree, if you do not like her, YOU can choose the new on but no punching. Now lets eat...beside I eat you...have I mentioned I miss you in our bed?" That sultry grin crossed her lips then as she winked suggestively at her husband.
Ealora:The days were getting shorter, reminding them all that winter was not far behind so when Nora sent one or two kids out to their Daddy for a small amount of quality time, she wasn't going to object.
