Revisiting Ghost
I AM HAUNTED BY WHAT I KNOW, WHAT I KNOW NOT..
Chapter Two: Memories Bound
LORD EAMONN OF EOHMARK
LADY AISLIN CREED OF EOHMARK
It was never ending it seemed and Aislin had to let strangers answer those questions when she did not have the answers. In privacy, Aislin and Eamonn both noticed her stomach was starting to form a small oval shape and press out so that it was becoming larger then her small breast. Clothing could still hide the stomach as Aislin had grown thin over the many months she had her body to herself. Slowly, the third baby was making its appearance, which only proved to Aislin and Eamonn that she was indeed pregnant. Eamonn was smiling more and more though in private they would hold each other and not say a word for hours as they watched the fire place; long after the children had gone to sleep. Aislin told Eamonn about the things she learned of her parents and what people said. She did not, tell Eamonn about the stories she heard of his mother and father. Aislin did not wish to bring painful things to the surface if Eamonn was not ready to face them. Years had passed, but with Aislin it had not made it easier to hear things she had not had need to in a long time. The nights were cool, which kept Aislin inside and near the fire. She had dealt with cold before, but it did not mean she enjoyed it. For some reason, it bothered her more now a days and she could only pin it to her new pregnancy. After dinner, Eamonn had said he wanted to take a walk and Aislin gave him a kiss but did not ask to go with him. Somehow, she knew the ghost of their parents were lingering or Eamonn was finding joy in things he had not before and as Aislin never did, there was no need to press him about them. Aislin put the children to sleep and when she returned to an empty room, she knew Eamonn was still walking about. Aislin slipped on her own fur cloak about her form and went out in search of him, leaving the children under Enid's watchful eye. Here, they were common again, not Lord and Lady of Eohmark. There was no need to have their children surrounded by guards for protection. Aislin did not have to wander without direction, for anyone who noticed her had pointed the path of her husband down. It reminded her of Eohmark very much, which added a comfort into the feeling of being here in a strange land. The cool winds made Aislin bundle deeper into her cloak to block out the cold. When she found Eamonn, she paused in her soft steps and stared at his back, knowing her husband's figure better than most. It was not that she did not want to bother him, but more that he was by the waves and alone. Eamonn had only come close to the water when he was with her, never alone. It startled Aislin a bit, making her unsure how to move towards him. For once, Aislin wanted to find words, but was lost on them. It felt like forever before she moved forward and by Eamonn's side so he would notice her, but not need to say anything if he chose not to. Ocean eyes stared out into the darkness as the smell of the sea carried to her on the wind and the breeze made her cheeks flush with its cold touch.[/ul]
LORD EAMONN OF EOHMARK Eamonn commented, never once tearing his gaze away from the waters.
"He had no memory of his days before they found him...only his name..The same sea...that took my mother from me...and cast me from my home..cruel...and cold." He whispered, holding back tightly emotions yearning to spill and surge forward.[/ul]
LADY AISLIN CREED OF EOHMARKLORD EAMONN OF EOHMARK It was a silly thought, pointless and without aiding, but it crossed his mind regardless. Everything he knew about his past was suddenly altered and he was running to catch up. With so many fronts to deal with, it wasn't odd or unexpected for the weight to become apparent. He had a sister, half, and other truths he never knew about his father. The man that he had been so sure of...the man that had been so influential in his life was now...unsure. What other secrets did he not know about that his father had forgotten? A great part of Eamonn didn't want to know.
"Everything I knew about my father...has changed. The man that I had been so sure of...the man that I believed I knew like no one else and led me to the path I chose today..is altered. Suddenly...I do not know the man that was my father quite so well anymore." And with that, a frown appeared on his face and lips pressed together tightly. Nostrils flared with another inhalation of salty air.
"Perhaps it was good he died...before all the memories he had forgotten came back. I do not even know if my father would have stayed in Sevenwaters...his death was a valiant one...and he would never have to make that choice between families." It pained his heart to think that his father would return to Scotland to the family he left behind. Second families were rarely the first choice...and Eamonn did not want to think about it. Hazel eyes drifted to the shore below and watched the waves crashing upon the shore. At length, Eamonn turned his face to his wife, and the stoic mask fell. Every bit of inner pain he felt painted itself upon his features. His forehead wrinkled with a deep frown, his lips were pressing together so hard they were turning white, and his eyes glistened in the dim lighting with unshed tears.
"I want to let it go, Aislin...but I do not know how. I...I do not want to know any more secrets about family...my past is all I have..my memories...and with these secrets of my father and his life before...my memories become a lie.." He choked out, his baritone voice breaking now and then...but still he held back the flood by some miraculous feat.[/ul]
LADY AISLIN CREED OF EOHMARK she commented to show she was listening and listening well. It was one of the best qualities that Aislin had. Her voice was soft and eyes remained closed as the silence came back but for a few moments. Everything changed..and Aislin watched it happen. Aislin tried to put herself in Eamonn's place. What would she have felt or thought to learn things about her father that stood against her own morals? Would she have been pleased to hear she was a second family for him and that he was being unfaithful to her mother, who allowed herself to die slowly because she loved him so much? What would Aislin have felt inside? Eamonn held more aggressive emotions then Aislin did, so whatever conclusion she came to would only be a hint of his. Eyes opened slowly to find the cold wind greeted the new moisture. Did Eamonn just say in not so many words that he was glad his father was dead? Aislin finally turned her body very slowly to face him and tilted her chin upwards. Aislin had not expected Eamonn to turn towards her. So the shock of seeing his eyes glisten with tears made Aislin pause in any words she had once found. Parting her cloak, she reached both hands up towards his that she could see pushing against the cloak. Fingers wrapped around them through the outside so the cold made her skin pale. Aislin felt her throat tighten as she watched her husband in such a state that he rarely had. Aislin stepped closer so her hands could grip over his own more. When he choked out, Aislin could no longer look at his face. She looked down, not in shame, but because seeing Eamonn like this woke Aislin's emotions from some deep place and made them rise quickly in her. Her eyes started to tear up. Not wanting to upset her husband more, she hid them from him and blinked them away.
"Ah wish ah had answers for ye husband. If ah could but walk in ye shoes, ah would to help ye with this." Finally Aislin raised her head upwards and looked at Eamonn's handsome and very emotional face. She wanted to sooth it away, but Eamonn was not a man that you soothed. Would Eamonn believe her if she said his memories were not a lie? They were still his, no one else's.
"Ye always tell me what to do. How can ah help ye now, Eamonn?" How did she help him keep what memories he had left, safe?[/ul]
LORD EAMONN OF EOHMARK His cold nose pressed against her cheek as eyes closed tightly. Hot tears, unable to be contained, rolled down his cheeks.[/ul]
LADY AISLIN CREED OF EOHMARK Her hands held more firm to him, as if she were the one in need of comforting, but it was mostly to ease his pride and give him an excuse to hold her tightly because she was doing the same to him.
"Ah know we can nay make new memories with our parents, but as parents ourselves, can we nay make new memories with our children to replace the bad ones? What...what is ye world now Eamonn? Where is ye world?"[/ul]
LORD EAMONN OF EOHMARK And he meant every word of it.[/ul]
LADY AISLIN CREED OF EOHMARK Aislin pulled back from him only from the neck up so she could see him.
"Ye be such a strong man Eamonn, ah be looking forward to our son taking after ye. Sorcha already does.." She knew her husband was so close to breaking down. There was no need to push him, but perhaps distract him? Aislin leaned forward and tilted her head to gently kiss Eamonn. Just the press of wide lips at first so she did not crowd him with so many things. When he responded back, Aislin slowly and carefully deepened the kiss, trying to make a new memory already. Everything she had was poured into it. Her love, her respect, her need of him. Anything to convince him how much she needed him. How she hoped that this kiss would be something he thought of when the sea popped into his mind. For a time, they stood there on that cliff like that. Kissing, pulling back to hold each other, kissing again before Aislin wiped away his tears. She did not care how long Eamonn wanted to stay and watch the waves, or how short of time he wanted to spend. She was not leaving his side anymore tonight. When they finally left the cliff, they walked within each other's arms back to the house of his cousin and to their room. There they stoked a fire, made love to each other tenderly and tangled up in each other's arms. Eamonn's hand remained on her growing stomach, while Aislin gently massaged his shoulders until he fell asleep. Aislin soon followed after him, safe and warm within his arms. She would do all she could to help him with this because Eamonn needed it more than ever. [/ul]
