Days turned to weeks, and weeks to months… A man on the run... England was no place for him. Adam had managed to convince Skye's allies to deny William access; though his Father had many contacts in foreign lands... including France.
This situation he now found himself was utterly disgusting to William. For most his life, he has been in control… now his wife was, most likely, in custody in Turas Lan, and his army had been decimated on a field of battle. And to make matters worse… in victory, his son proclaimed him an outlaw and had disallowed him sanctuary in the Church.
William’s hatred for his eldest son now burned bright and though recuperating from wounds began a plan of revenge. He knew death in retaliation was more prevalent than death by trial of court. He began to contact old friends, nobles and knights alike…comrades, men who sided with him many times; and in doing so began a chain of events that would spark greed and aristocratic propriety in many men.
From a small village in southern France... thru his connections, he found that the King had been overthrown and imprisoned; William decided to exploit the heightening tensions in England amongst the noble classes, to which he used to rally men of wealth… and those disposed knights and lords willing to follow him.
William’s titles had been rescinded, his landholdings confiscated… Adam, as Mo’r Triath, cut off his Father’s finances and flow of revenue at the sources , leaving him with nothing. Meanwhile, William, an experienced orator, was able to convince his loyal nobles to financially back his plans with the promise of wealth untold.
William then contacted his youngest son, James, in Castielle, and made arrangements for them to finally meet after all those years of separation.
With his wife in Skye’s capital city, William decided that Turas Lan would be his destination, while his nobles and lords headed into England. But first, he needed a way to get there without being noticed.
