Marco Polo was not the first Westerner to travel to the Orient and return with amazing stories of this different culture, but his published accounts were part of the new Gaelic Nations reading list. Soon after the establishment of the Gaelic Nations, the Mo’r Triath ordered Skye ships abroad…
Asia had far surpassed the West in the development of warfare, communication and science… and it was the Mo’r Triath’s intent to open trade routes to Asia to gain… and eventually improve upon, their discoveries. He did not want to go to war against the Asians, but to align himself thru trade. That war would be one that would cause blood to run deeper than the oceans itself.... hence a new motiff.
China was in an unsurpassed era for ceramics and painting. Architectural masterpieces such as Angkor Wat in Cambodia, the Great South Gate in Todaiji, Japan, and the Tien-ning Temple in Peking, China are some of the constructs built or being built in this era.
On another subject, in order to prevent the Black Death from entering Western Europe, the Mo’r Triath would begin communication with Asian leaders on better medical care and practices.
Adam’s free reign in regards to religion would also influence China and Japan with a return to the traditional Shinto faith and the continuing popularity of Zen Buddhism. Even with some of the religious faiths being put to script and sent to Skye for archiving. Kaori de la Costa, being the Mo’r Triath’s High Scholar would prove highly beneficial in bringing Asian culture to Skye.
