Momento #4: BECOME FRIENDS IN THE DARKNESS ONCE MORE
Nathan Renquest - A fair amount of time saw Nate practically gone from most lives--bed-ridden and largely miserable. but he couldn't stay away from the world forever, not the least of which away from someone who might have even meant the difference between dying in the ruins and surviving--the last time Anulia saw him he was a delirious mess, prone to emotional mood swings, babbling inanely about who knows what--they separated in ambiguity, possibly to die separate and alone. And what if she were hurt? He had only found out through others that she had survived the ordeal mostly intact. Needless to say, this spurred the young Scholar to leave as soon as possible and seek her out--though he had to stop and pick up something along the way, which was a bit of a struggle, the detour as much as the part that he was frankly terrible. But right on time--there was a faint knock on the girl's door, heralding the scholar, looking haggard but still immaculately groomed, leaning heavily upon the borrowed, silver cane, disdaining a bulky jacket for a simple vest and shirt, perfect save for the wrapped bandage and the mild loss of pallour, a smile reserved for the woman, faint and apprehensive as when they first met--the shadow of 'Old Nate', still unchanged in the face of the trauma.
Anulia of Amora - Healing, was a thing that many had to do, if not all. For as happy as Anulia was, she had her own healing to do. Nathan had helped a large deal with that when it came to a soul that shared the experience with her and knew what happened. A secret between them both. She had been around to visit others, finding out they had been hurt much worse then herself and Nathan. Aman-ud-Din, had been hurt so bad that he passed out and slept for days, much like Nathan had while they were in the stone prison. Rose had her leg sliced up pretty good, which kept her in bandages and the cook, Philip, had been killed in an attempt to protect the Briar rose. Mourning was never an easy thing. Anulia had helped bury him in the ground and when she was not in her room, she was helping to rebuild Briar rose and any where else that people took a free pair of hands for. Tonight, was a moment for peace as she stood by her window and looked out upon the streets from the castle. People moved about, many streets had been cleaned and all looked almost normal through her eyes. Long brown hair had been lightly oiled and placed into small braids around her crown to create a different look that was mostly from her lands. The dress, had been dipped into orange dye, causing it to accent her darker brown skin as it wrapped about her breast and left her back partly bare, then trailed along the front of her stomach, before wrapping around her legs and reaching the floor with more loose gathering. Silks of orange wrapped about her wrist to hide the scars from view, while beads to match her dress were locked into her hair. There was no real need for such nice dressing, save to make her feel good. She had been around to visit many as well, but it was mostly for her that she dressed in such bright colors. It left much exposed, more then the cultured people here did. At the sound of the knock, she turned her head towards the heavy wooden door and moved around the large tree that rested in the middle of her floor with it's roots wrapped up in a sac full of dirt. Bare feet padded across the stone, before she reached for the latch and lifted it to open the heavy door and see, Nathan! Smiling wide, she opened the door and stepped aside. ``Nathan! It is so wonderful to see you! Come in, please. Take a seat as well. You have ventured the steps to see me, what a wonderful gift!``
Nathan Renquest - It was some comfort that for all the trauma endured, some things never changed. Anulia's smile was warm as ever--her clothes were as terribly revealing as ever, making his face flush for what felt like the first time in ages, and her words were so lively and comforting that it had felt as if what they had both endured had barely happened at all. "Hi... Anulia." he responded, somewhat timidly, though not for the usual reasons of being just intimidated by the woman--as much intimidated by what was in his pocket was anything. One thing he didn't hesitate on was taking a seat--he still walked with an awkward gait heavily supported by cane, wonderful gift or not--though the idea that it was a gift in itself embarrassed him somewhat. "Oh... well, I just... needed to get out for a spell. Thought I'd drop in. Just... ah..." he smiled, awkward and faint and moved to take a seat to wherever was most convenient--edge of the bed, most likely. Trying to think of something, anything to say, he came up short and just got right to the point. "Oh...! Oh, I have something for you..."
Anulia of Amora - Anulia believed that she should not let events which were out of her control, affect her so badly. People became bitter or sunk into themselves. It was not healthy. ``A spell...well you have come to the best place for a time of relaxing!`` It really did thrill Anulia to have such company as Nathan. She closed the door and offered to help Nathan across the room so he could sit upon the soft bed of bright reds and yellows. When Nathan said he had something for Anulia, chocolate eyes widened at another surprise! ``Oh! What is it?``To be honest, it could have been anything and Anulia would be happy with it. She happened to have a present for Nathan as well, just beyond their sight and on the table. Wrapped in a silk, brown cloth, hid the presents. When he handed off the present to her, she looked at it and tried to figure it out before it actually would be open. Turning from him, she moved for the table near by to set it down on. Her back came to be exposed to Nathan's view. Slender and bare, it was anything but beautiful in design. Skin that had once been smooth and lovely to look at, now held deep scars that rose and some sunk in, causing them to turn black against her brown flesh. There was no spot untouched by the shadows of a whip lashing across her, save one spot. Upon her upper left shoulder, a birth mark was held in the shape of a star, much darker then the scars could ever compare to.
Nathan Renquest - The small box was offered to her, ornate and lined with silver, flowers and lines etched into its design, a tiny turn-crank built into the side--Nathan had of course, already turned it. "Open it." he encouraged, smiling faintly, though it died in small way when he came to witness the ruined flesh marring otherwise near perfect skin, and another pang of sympathy hit him then. To see a woman so alive and vibrant was to forget why she coped easily with misfortune--she'd suffered more than her share of it to begin with. His own wounds felt terribly minor in comparison. The box, upon being opened, would give out a soft, tinkling melody, the tiny roller spinning in its casing, which seemed to by some measure embarrass him. "I... ah, couldn't find one that sounded like what you were singing...." he stopped short of describing the time when. "but... it kind of reminded me of it. I... I hope you like it." poor lad felt so utterly foolish saying such a thing. Lord, it sounded like he was courting her! his face flushed a terrible red.
Anulia of Amora - Slender fingers traced along the design of the box and for a moment, she thought the box itself was the present. One for gifts and other things she collected. Open it? She smiled over her shoulder, seeing Nathan's own before she turned back to the box. The fading of his expression was missed, which kept her in up lifted spirits. Slowly, she lifted it and peeked into the small open area. The music greeted her, making her open it wider and stare in awe at the device as it worked. ``Where...are the people that play the music?`` She touched it and then pulled her hand back. ``It's....magic!`` She said in glee as she turned around to look at him with her body standing side ways so her eyes could kept going back to the device. Like her? ``You heard me? You remembered that?`` It was not foolish at all. Picking up her skirts a bit so she could walk back over to him, she sat down by his side and carefully hugged him, pulling his slender frame into her curvy one. ``It is beautiful and magic. How could a gift that holds magic music, not be liked. I love it.. I have never been given something like this before.`` She tried to remember if she had ever heard it before as well, but she could not recall. Pulling back, she leaned forward to press a soft kiss on his cheek, feeling the stubble that threatened to grow from his flesh if he did not shave again soon. A hand rose to push his hair back. ``It will now remind me of you, always. Oh! I have something for you as well.`` Standing again, ignoring the flush that no doubt came to present itself on Nathan's cheeks, she walked over to grab the cloth and lifted it in her hands before walking back to him to present it. ``I was told, this is the best gift to give a Scholar and writer. I also, collected a piece on my own. It was not easy!`` It was a heavy gift, large in comparison. When the silk ribbon was pulled, the cloth would fall away to show the many quills and inks, then under that, a handful of different colored leather bound journals, small and able to carry about in the pockets. Under that, hard bound leather books, for his studies.
Nathan Renquest - Nathan had very nearly corrected her--tried to explain the mechanics of springed coils and metal on the tiny bulbs on the spinning circle... but, there was something about the look on her expression that made him relent, somewhat. Innocence of a child, in a sense. Oh, but then she called him on remembering. "Oh... uh, yes. Sort of. It's... it's kind of hard to remember details." he admitted, blushing as ever but hardly reluctant to embrace her. Honestly, after being buried under a ton of rubble, he craved a degree of human contact almost wherever he could found it. Imagine his surprise when she had a gift for him as well. "Oh... Oh... Oh Anulia you shouldn't have..." and she had gotten him something very large indeed. Imagine his surprise when she had for him an armful of new supplies, elegant, sheaf of paper thick and various fine quills to write. "Oh... oh wow. Anulia.... this..." he practically stumbled over his own words. "This is... this is incredible. I mean... the quality..." he opened one book and scanned it, eyes wide, practically spellbound by it. "Anulia... God, thank you so much. this must have cost... God... " he looked up, humbled beyond words and touched more than he'd thought possible. "...Thank you..."
Anulia of Amora - Anulia had not sang to him in order to be heard, but more so for comfort. If he had heard it, then she had at least some how comforted him in the time of need. Details did not matter, for she sang in a language that was unheard of. ``I did! I did because I remember your goals and what you enjoy. You were also there for me when I was afraid and that meant a great deal to me.`` She sat down by his side, content that he loved his present as much as she loved her own. ``It did not cost me as much as you might think. Friends, are wonderful to have everywhere! I heard that a crow's feather was the best to have, so, I found a crow and plucked the feather from his side! He was a bit ruffled at it, but I am sure he does not mind! He still flew away, so it did not bother him too much.`` She rambled on as Nathan looked up and at her. ``I can give you a sac as well to put everything in, or help you carry it back to your home. You are very welcome! I hope this inspires you to push through and do what it is that you want to with your life.``
Nathan Renquest - "Was I? H..Honestly I don't remember much." Except naturally telling her that he believed she should have children and start looking for a love of her life, which was terribly embarrassing in and of itself, but at least she did not seem to make any correlation in his own wishes, gratefully for that. "Anulia... this is.. well this is too wonderful. Really, I can't say it enough..." he blushed faintly again and began to fidget somewhat nervously. He didn't feel like he'd done much of anything buried under rubble, to be honest, and passed her an awkward sort of glance. "I... I really can't thank you enough. I honestly... I honestly don't think I would have made it without you there." Which was not to say things were perfectly well. It was obvious he'd had some trouble sleeping--rings around his eyes and a loss of color, smiling faintly as he stole the occasional glance at her. Honestly, he wasn't even sure how to broach the subject. "And I'm glad... I mean, glad to see you're alright. I woke up and... I didn't see you and well.. well for a while I was worried. You know... all I remember is being pulled out and the rest is kind of... indistinct."
Anulia of Amora - ``Yes you did! You told me a great deal of wonderful things, to help inspire me and make me feel like a better person.`` She reached out to touch his arm and hand, glad that this time, she could see it as well while she touched him. ``Nathan, there is no need to worry on what you can say to make it known how much you appreciate me as a friend. I know. I feel the same about you. You look as if you have not been getting much sleep. Believe me, I know what that feels like and looks like.`` She smiled wide when he said he had woke up and not seen her. Pulling his hand up to her mouth, she placed the softest and very chaste kiss upon his healing knuckles. Instead of returning his hand, she coiled her fingers in with his to feel the warmth of his palm. ``The blacksmith and squire Lucius are the ones who saved us and pulled you out. Aislin tended your wounds. We are both okay, which we should thank God for yes? Do you..have nightmares Nathan that keep you awake?``
Nathan Renquest - "Yes... ah, yes... I suppose we should." Chaste or lustful, the affection was both welcomed and humbling on its own, though he did not go so far as to break contact. It was amazing how this woman seemed to see right through every insecurity he had. Both touching and yet leaving him so unsteady and off balance, welcome and strangely apprehensive. "I... ah, yes. I do. Mostly when I close my eyes. Or... if I'm in a very small space." he admitted, though it felt almost childish to do so. She had just been complimenting him mere days before, to reveal himself as such a child again was excruciating in its own way. "I... I try not to pay them much mind. But... well. Sufficed to say I'm having a hard time being by myself as of late." which was another reason he had came of course, and one he was must ashamed to admit it, particularly since it was that fear that brought him to her. What did that say, exactly? even he wasn't sure of the meaning of it, and in his apprehension he squeezed her hand without even realizing he had done such a thing.
Anulia of Amora - Anulia was not trying to break through barriers, but she liked to think that she had a calming nature and that it poured over other people when she was around them. So many men were rough and brutes, so many women were seductive, or in their own little shell and afraid to reach out, that it made others need to work that much harder to it all. Anulia, tried to be a welcoming balance. She enjoyed Nathan's company, because he was calm, yet skittish. It was endearing and honest. He knew the world was not all rainbows and sunshine, but he was also trying to gain friends and become a use for everyone. ``I have had the same problems as you have Nathan. You can not control what your mind wishes to repeat. A friend, once told me to look at it as a way to grow, not to let it haunt you, but let it teach you.`` She squeezed his hand back and turned his hand over before unlacing her fingers from his own. Scooting back, she crossed her legs up so the skirts fell over them and blocked them from view, save a bit of thigh and calf. Holding his hand with the knuckles along her knee, she started to trace the lines in his palm with her pointer finger. ``Do you now fear small spaces, or have you always feared such things? I do not mind the company, as a matter of fact, I enjoy it greatly! Not many people come to see me...``
Nathan Renquest - "I didn't used to... but you're right. I...I do now." he replied, somewhat uneasily, his fingers twitching once faintly as she traced a hand over the lines of his palm, passing her a curious expression but saying nothing. it was hard confessing something to a woman he admired so much, but he did. Lord, how it felt good just to say it. "It's.. it's like I said, the most maddening part is I can't stand to close my eyes. It's like when I close them I'm trapped again. Whenever I can't see anything. I... I guess I'm just so used to relying on them." which sounded unfathomable, but that was the way feelings were, so it seemed. "But you seem so.. so calm. I mean... I'm certain that it's been trying for you as well, I don't mean to undermine it.. but.. well," he smiled awkwardly. "I'm trying with everything I can to hold it together and it's barely working." he had to laugh, a strange, nervous laugh that suggested things might slip away at a moments notice. In some twisted away, Nathan felt more comfortable around Anulia. well... almost. Turning his head revealed a rather striking picture of the woman and he looked away an almost instant later.
Anulia of Amora - Was it worse to never have the fear until recent, or to always have the fear in your lifetime? Did he miss not being afraid? There were many things she wondered about how Nathan felt when it came to the new fear? She listened and debated on if she should look at his face while he spoke or not to. Some people did not like to have someone staring at them and with Nathan, she felt it would make him more uncomfortable. She continued to trace his hand and moved up to his inner wrist where the skin was the softest and held the most feeling. All to keep him soothed and at ease. ``It is complicated and I am sure driving you mad. I would not want to have those things repeat over and over as well, but it is still new. It happened only a short time ago. You should not have to live in fear of closing your eyes Nathan. Don't be ashamed of it, but we should help you move past it. You are so use to having the sense that you know nothing else..I agree.`` She could not help but smile at him when he said she must have had a trying time. ``I once lived in a small cave, where I could not stand up past on my knees for one year. Doing that, has prepared me for the trail of our event. Would you allow me to try and help you, perhaps get over this fear?``
Nathan Renquest - Still uncertain how to act in the face of affection, he reached to touch her hand lightly with a free one but withdrew it a moment later, letting himself focus idly on her fingertips along his wrist. "You did... ?Lord, Anulia." his heart went to the woman again, and he drew quiet. How could she help him to cope with the fear of it? the very idea of confronting it brought apprehension, but who could he trust if not her? "I ... yes. I would like to be past it. Yes." he moved to look to her again with much sympathy and warmth, despite the fears that colored them of confronting any of this. "I.. I thought it would help if I just... closed my eyes and confronted them, you know? but I just couldn't do it. I kept... well, losing my nerve. Eventually I just stopped trying, thought it'd go away but it's been.. slow." he babbled, so nervous that he found the words difficult to cease once he had started.
Anulia of Amora - Anulia remembered her time in the cave and perhaps, this would help her, in helping Nathan? Pulling her hands from him for a moment, she stood up from the bed and straightened her skirts out with a brush of her hand. Nathan agreed, which had Anulia moving around her room to pause at each candle that was lit. She blew each one out, leaving two around each area of the room to give a soft glow off the stone walls. The third, she picked up and carried towards Nathan as he remained on her bed. ``You just need a friend to be here with you. It is very different confronting them alone, then it is with a friend.`` Sitting down, the weight of her body made the bed dip down slightly. Grabbing his hand in her own, she gave it a light squeeze then let go, before she looked at him. ``Okay.. I am going to blow out the flame. If you get afraid at any time, to the point of uncomfortable, I will go light the flame again from those afar.`` She gave him time to get use to the fact, before pressing her full lips together and blowing out the flame. She was not going to leave Nathan alone in the darkness though. ``Nathan? Tell me a story? Maybe a story you have read?``
Nathan Renquest - It was funny how the idea sounded fine. In practice, it made a kind of sense, but with each extinguished flame he felt himself growing distinctly more uneasy. By the time the last flame was out, he wasn't exactly sure he could face it. But to show that kind of weakness in front of her? He wasn't sure he could bear that, not after what she'd said. "O...Okay. Okay," he nodded and took a deep, rattling breath. Than the light went out, and he was in darkness--her hand was the only thing to cling to. Like being trapped under the rubble again. Anxiety hit him nearly instantly and his hand suddenly squeezed tighter. "A story.. right. Ah... a story. Ah... I heard a story about a Knights Templar once... on the journey to Crusade..." he shut his eyes tightly against the darkness and struggled to get it out. It was a typical noble tale. heroism and love and fighting for some belief, all very romanticized and heroic. He tried to remember the words as he was told them, but he was obviously making a mistake here and there, uncertain and fearful. Halfway in he barely even realized what he was saying, he was just retelling it as he remembered it word for word.
Anulia of Amora - Of course it would sound fine, but doing it was a whole new story. One that even a brave man would shudder at. In reality, Anulia would not be able to see Nathan, so if his fears showed on his face, he was save. Already she could hear the uncertainly in his voice. She clung to his hand in return, so he did not feel alone in his fear. Anulia, feared the darkness, but more so what could be in it, then what was not in it. Anulia was patient and even though he struggled, she showed complete interest in it, not really knowing what was right or wrong when it came to the unknown story. She asked what the knights had to face and if they fought hard? When he was finished or seemed to run out of things to speak on, Anulia spoke softly. ``I know, things make you uncomfortable Nathan. Many things in this world. Now..do not be nervous.`` Anulia reached for him and pulled him against her again. Arms wrapped around him, holding him close, while her fingers touched his hair gently. ``I do not wish to treat you like a child Nathan, for you are far from it, but some times...being held can make bad things not seem so bad.``
Nathan Renquest - At least he was a decent storyteller, he seemed to have much admiration for Knighthood and chivalry, at least the semblance of such. Eventually the story would end, and the silence would start to break him--least until she spoke again, warning him of another set of discomfort entirely different. He couldn't... see, really, but he could certainly feel her pulled against him, fingertips in his hair. Strangely, it was easier in the dark--maybe it was simpler when she didn't have to see his reactions to it.His eyes fell closed, and he even subtly leaned against her. There was a long, silent pause. "You asked me what it was I wanted to do or be...?" he paused for a long time. "It took me a long time to think about it. H..Honestly, I'm happy doing what I do, to an extent. but.. but when i'ts over I was thinkkiing I might stay here. In Skye, I mean. I've met... well I've met so many people here that I... I wish to see for a long time still to come." again, in darkness, such words came eaisier, strangely enough. "....I think I'd miss you if I left. Maybe... I don't know, maybe I could work with Miss Kaori..."
Anulia of Amora - Nathan was a very good story teller and it had little to do with Anulia being easily entertained. He had a calm voice, if not a bit nervous undertone there. He also held his own views in his tones that helped the story along. Her hand rubbed along his arm in comfort and she snuggled against him, half taking, half giving the affections. ``I did.`` She answered honestly and softly. The fact that it took a long time to think on it, meant his answer was honest. Or as honest as he could be. ``I too, have chosen to stay here because of those I have met. I think many, have done the same.`` To hear that he would miss her, made her heart swell up. ``I would miss you as well if you were to leave. I....did not recall that you leaving would happen until now. Is there...is there anything that can prevent you from doing this? I mean...are there things waiting for you back in England Nathan?``
Nathan Renquest - "Well..." the response came uneasy, and his gaze flitted around the empty room, the anxiety of having to explain what he was already afraid of mingling with the fear of the dark, enclosed spaces, so much that even her affections started to feel distant, turning inward. "It's the man who sponsored me here, really. I came here under work for him, and I'm not finished under his work yet. He's brought... stability in my life where I didn't really have any." he tried to explain, but felt something about the sentiment made no sense, hesitating to add."[/b]The Renquest family doesn't have much to its worth anymore. If I choose to terminate our agreement, I'll have almost nothing to my own. I probably won't be able to travel anymore.[/b]" compared to what? nurturing friends? it sounded almost selfish to say that was a trouble for him, and he felt the need to reassure--either her or himself with a touch on her arm. "It's what I've wanted to do for so long. Honestly... it's just... frightening, I guess, in a way. I'm sorry. I feel like a fool telling you this. You've endured hardship and made so much out of it my own concerns sound.. well.. trivial."[/color]
Anulia of Amora - The darkness was a wonderful place to express yourself, once one got past the fear. Anulia was tempted to light the candle again to give him light, but Nathan seemed to settle in the darkness, or was trying his hardest to be strong and not ask her to relight it for him.``Nathan...while the man deserves much thanks, some times...roads lead down a different path. I came here with shackles upon my wrist and ankles. I had nothing but the clothing on my back, which was a sac. I did not even have my mind, or any real intelligence. I could not speak the language, nor communicate well. Many thought me to be a child, more thought me to be a bother. I have many things now, and within only a year. I do not tell you all these things to say my life has been much harder then your own. That, would be elephant droppings... I tell you this, to give you hope. You can speak and write this language, many offer you a job and duties to do in order to make coin. You are still young, not a child, but have many years of human life to start from the bottom and work your way up. Do you not wish to disappoint this man, or do you wish to gain what he has to offer and do not see it being offered by anyone else. Who..is this sponsor?``
Nathan Renquest - "Just a merchant." he replied, though the very nature of what he was would change his life terribly were he ever to discover it. "And I don't. partially. I mean, he brought me up from obscurity in the Monastery, how could I turn away from that?" he asked, faintly. In the darkness, it was much more the latter than the former that brought him on, though it brought confessions from his lips. "It's just.. it's just the fear of losing what I have and not being able to get back something like it. T...To be honest, I think I've already made my decision though." he turned his face against her. "So I guess I'm just scared what it means, that's all." he glanced up at her again, looking so terribly embarrassed. So it was time to change things a little bit, he smiled, awkwardly. "You know... Anulia. I've never met a woman like you before in my life. Nothing even remotely like you at all. You're... you really are an amazing woman, you know that?"
Anulia of Amora - Just a merchant? If the man was just a merchant, why was it so hard to repay him and be on about business? ``I can understand that, you do not want it to seem as if you do not appreciate what he has done for you, or you do not want to let down the agreement made.`` Fingers still moved along his arm as he went on. The fear of losing what one had, was great, but there were things that could never be taken away. ``I think you have...it is what ever choice presses in your heat the most. Which ever makes you feel good the most.`` His look of embarrassment, could not be seen even as her eyes adjusted to the darkness. It hid many things. ``Nathan....thank you. Truly. I do not think of myself as that amazing compared to others here...but I do want to be there for you...for others. You, are a wonderful, caring man Nathan. So not think your kindness is weakness. Don't let others...make you believe your kindness is weakness.`` A light kiss was given to his forehead, or what she thought was his forehead.``What...is your choice Nathan? To stay here..and do what? What ever it is..I will help you.``
Nathan Renquest - The kiss made him blush, again strangely grateful for the darkness, much as it felt cloying even in her arms. The poor lad was borderline trembling now, tigthening his grip over the scraps of dress as he closed his eyes. "I'll work in the scholar halls with Kaori. She told me she would welcome me there." he smiled faintly. "And Miss Darling still needs help with the books. Maybe I'll help her too. I can help you too, maybe... if you'd want it. I... I know you're learning to read and write. I can help." the suggestion then made him nervous still, his gaze traveled upward to what he thought was the shape of the woman's face. "I... I don't know. Sounds all rather silly. I've just come to see this as home. It's unusual... I've never really felt that way before." Err, oops, he realized what that sounded like when the words slipped out and hastily corrected. "Skye... Skye I mean. See Skye as home." Oh lord, did his face turn bright red. How ironic that even in his meek embarrassment the darkness allowed him cling to her till the embarrassment passed. He didn't really mean it that way!
Anulia of Amora - ``I think that is a great idea! To work in the hall with Kaori, she is a wonderful teacher and loves to learn. Miss Darling would pay you good coin and your earnings would be your own, no one else.`` Help her? ``I would gladly pay you coin as well, or perhaps...I have another project you can help me with?`` This as home. Anulia did not take it the way he felt need to fix. She took Skye, as his meaning for home. ``Nathan...you must stop thinking people will take your words to heart all the time. Speak and learn to be sure on what you are saying. I know you meant Skye. Skye, has become my home as well. Here is where I will stay...``Until fate deems other wise, but there was no need to say that. Anulia clung back and even started to lean backwards on the bed until they both were laying flat against the sheets in each other's arms. Comforting, innocent even if the heart was beating a bit faster then normal for one or the other. ``Home...it has a nice ring to it, yes? I think you make a wonderful addition to those of Skye Nathan. Just remember...your fate, is your own. It can give you options, but that does not mean you have to always take them. If you ever need help in deciding, I will listen to any rant. I would also...be your home any time Nathan!`` She teased.
Nathan Renquest - Her heart might have as well have inscrutable... comforting as it was (and unwilling as he was to let go in the dark) his heart was beating decidedly faster as he was laid down in her very arms. "I understand, Anulia. and thank you. Thank you for.. I don't know, for welcoming me so much. Thank you for accepting me. You've done so much for me, and so little time has passed since we met. I.. " oh the poor lad was terribly embarrassed by the tease, the implication of such statement however innocent, he was so nervous about it the smile came unbidden and he fell utterly silent, a curious mingling of fear, anxiety and pleasant comfort all strange in the silence, mixed with a strange sudden exhaustion--it was the tension, really, that was draining him, mingled with the subtle relief of the best he'd felt immersed in darkness, and the weight of the hours was already of weighing heavily on him. It wouldn't be terribly hard to fall asleep in her bed, the thought Oh lord, how terribly improper! it made him keep aware all the more, if nothing else but to avoid such a thing.
Anulia of Amora - Anulia's goals, were simple. At least when it came to Nathan. To have him smile and feel comfortable above all other things around her was what she wanted. To have him feel that no matter what he did, or what others said, he would have someone to talk to, someone to escape to. There were not that many here who that could happen with, for so many had huge destinies, some yet to be fulfilled, others did not even know of them and more, knew and were working for them. Nathan seemed humble in his wants, Anulia was much the same. Anulia laughed outright at him and his words. Her chest shook and her body jittered to make his own do the same for a moment. ``Nathan you are such a joy to tease. I mean that in the most respected way. You worry too much on offending people. You are not going to offend people, believe me. And if you do..it would be their own worries. You speak very proper Nathan.`` Anulia could ramble all night and would even rock Nathan a bit to sleep to help. Did she mind if he slept with her? No, she saw nothing out of the ordinary with it. ``You are surviving the darkness...on your own terms..`` she spoke gently. He had stayed within the dark for some time now..how did he feel?
Nathan Renquest - "Uh, well... " he chuckled, somewhat nervously. "Just.. want to make sure that my intentions are pure. You know... a gentlemen..." he said as he laid in bed with a woman and felt the vague stirrings that came associate with such a thing, drawing into silence. "I..I am trying." which ironically wasn't the only thing he was 'surviving' but that was neither here nor there. It had been a while now, hadn't it? he hadn't even realized how much time had passed, nor was he ready for it to end. As would happen, he wouldn't be either. The two continued in silence, with Nathan only occasionally shifting or stirring (presumably to keep himself awake, ironically enough), but eventually fatigue started to get the better of him. Comfort in contact, the first he'd had in a while, was enough to draw him to sleep, combined with her gentle guidance into it, and eventually consciousness slipped, and after a few moments, he did doze, lightly at first, still entangled with her, breaths long and drawn. Exhaustion was partially the only way he would have gotten over his shyness, but if he were terribly uncomfortable around Anulia, it would have never happened in the first place...
