Odis could almost feel as if something were wrong. It boiled just beneath the surface of his dreams. At first he honestly belived it was the dreams themselves that plagued him to restlessness. They had done so before. Though something nagged at the corner of his mind, until he grew impatient and tossed aside the blankets. The large hand passed for a moment over his face as he pushed aside the rest of sleep, and his eyes cut to the window.
It was close enough to dawn , he might as well get himself out of bed. The bare feet moved across the woodplanked floor while he sorted out the mood. He and his daughter were at an uneasy truce. What more could he ask for given her age and the fact she was as stubborn as he? The tunic was tugged on over his head after washing up from the basin. He would check on her, surely that would help ease the troubled mind. The few steps taken down the short hall and slowly pressed open her door.
He had not been prepared to find her bed still made and a pillow untouched. Confusion for a moment set in as he searched the house for sounds. Yet nothing. The unsettled frown appeared on his face as he began to move down the hall towards the common room and kitchen. The dark dull eyes made only a quick sweep of the room to know there was no daughter in sight. His attention then flashed to the wall beside the door. The cloak was missing.
He could not explain the fear that erupted within his chest and mind , ignoring the fact his feet were bare he barreled out of the house towards the bar. He ignored the cows and their lulling greetings as he tugged open the door with a harsh jerk. He could feel his chest rise and fall with the breath..though he felt as though he was not breathing at all.
Her horse was gone. And unslept in bed.. the panic flared into the unmanaged anger as he turned and stormed back towards the house. It didn't take him long to finish dressing, boots tugged on and the cloak tossed over his shoulder. He glanced for a moment towards the chest that stood upright in the corner. He did not second guess his feelings on the matter as he moved to it and opened it. The old battered and familar belt hung there with equally worn sheath. The sword was slung over a shoulder as he set off again out the door.
it was long practiced hands that saddled the draft horse, the cinch brought in tight causing the horse to grunt and stare at him before he settled himself up into the saddle. He shoved aside rational thought, he was not in a rational mood.. first he would go to the village...
He didn't feel the morning's chilly air as he made his way to her friend Tilly's house. And the startled look upon Tilly's father Edmond was almost comical when Odis demanded to know where Willa was. The stammering came from the man as he admitted the girl was not there.. and hadn't been seen in a couple of days. Odis didn't offer an apology as he grunted and again found himself in the saddle. The city... she must have gone back ...
Gods best be with her , for when he found her.. and this little stunt of ... He'd.... he couldn't finish it for all that dwelled deeper in the back of his mind and sank into the pit of his stomach..
" Gods let her be safe."
