Moira: After having taken the advise of the healer at the castle, what was her name again, Cornelia, that was it. Moira took the things she was told to take, used medicines she was told to use, she even eased up with the use of the corsets which was not minded in the least, she did despise the uncomfortable things, she would have loved to burn each and every one she ever saw. But this morning she woke feeling worse than she had yet, dressing between trips to dash off and be sick, she did manage to dress herself in a simple dress made of coarse wool, if she messed this one up then cleaning it would be much easier, she could even dispose of it if necessary. It was a dirt brown color so it hid stains well. Pulling on a heavy cloak to keep warm outside she could take this no longer and left the house to trek her way to the infirmary to see yet another healer, someone who while she half doubted it, may give her additional useful advise on what to do. After a slow walk she arrived and slipped inside, oddly enough her stomach finally abating some in its attack on her, but she was stubborn and tired of dealing with the issue every morning so she was determined to speak to someone, now if she could only find a person, anyone, it didn't matter whom. Glancing around to see if any were here.
Avery: Every morning without fail, she showed up at the infirmary to work. Tending to the sick was her business and not one she took lightly. Lately it had been winter colds and fevers that occupied her time, though sparsely in between there was the occasional pregnant woman to attend or new infants. Fall and Winter seemed to be the busiest time in which women routinely found themselves with child. Her area of expertise was of course, women with child and the children themselves. Mostly, it was the sniffles, chicken pox, scraps and cuts, bumps and bruises. The old receptionist sat behind a desk, routinely checking people in as Moira slipped inside. Old eyes lifted before she slid a paper and quill forward for Moira to sign in and list her most urgent symptoms. After signed, she checked it out before calling the assistant forward"Danielle, take her to the second floor, if an exam room is open, put her in or have her sit down until one does.." A dry monotone voice droned. Obviously she was not excited with her job but it was a job. A raven haired girl smiled at Moira and gestured for her to follow up to the second floor, where indeed a room was open. Pointing Moira inside the mossy tone followed, barely above a whisper. "There is a robe inside, undress and put it on. Sit on the exam table and the doctor will be with you in a minute." Before she shut the door behind Moira. Of course they never meant a few minutes did they? But no sooner did Moira undress, re robe and sit down did the door open. Avery sent a smile to woman as she shut the door behind herself. Ember hair was braided and flowed over one shoulder of the white chemise with a red leather apron over it. One gray eye and one blue eye was looking over a piece of parchment in her hand, Moira sign in sheet. "Hello Miss MacArran..I'm Avery Thorn, I'll be taking a look at you today.." The parchment was set on a table within the room as she moved over towards the girl. "I know you all ready wrote down your main symptoms, but that's writing, why don't you tell me in your own words, how your doing...what your feeling.."
Moira: Moira went through the whole sign in process, the writing of symptoms, then facing the monotone and not at all pleased appearing woman who was the first of a few she had to deal with before being shuffled and passed on to the next. She made the process simple on herself and likely everyone else too by simply going where she was told, making no attempt to speak to anyone unless they spoke to her first. She found herself in a room and told a doctor would be along soon which in truth she believed. Moira had been fortunate enough in that she was no regular with physicians, healers or any of that sort that she had little to no clue that when a person was told a doctor would be with them soon it was usually a lie. Her clothing was changed into the robe as per told she ought to do and she had only moments before she was seen by yet another person. This was moving along faster than she expected. She smiled at the woman, unable to help but note mismatched eyes. That was fascinating to Moira, but she found things like that, the out of the ordinary things, always fascinating. On to other things now though. A nod was given when asked for her to give her symptoms in her own words. "About a week and a half ago I started feeling very tired, achy, and nauseated. I blamed the cold, then my lack of sleep and the weather and even corsets. Once I had eliminated the thought to be problems and still had the issues of feeling the same along with sometimes being sick in the morning and even after being seen by the Duchesses healer I decided I needed another opinion and here I am." She kept it short and simple, trying not to waste the woman's time unnecessarily.
Avery: She kept her eyes on Moira as she spoke, giving way to the woman that she was listening. Reaching up, she hummed an acknowledgement as she cupped the woman's face in her hands. "So you eliminated the corsets, got plenty of rest as instructed and are still feeling poorly?" She tilted the woman's face up and turned it left and then right before letting go of her face. "Achy, Nauseated and tired. Ok.." She gave a pat to the table, shifting the pillow at the head as she ushered Moira back to lay down. "Lay back for me, here you go. I promise to take good care of you.." She turned her attention down to the woman as she smiled once more. "I'm going to give you a full exam and then we'll see where we are, now have your breasts been tender at all, have you noticed that?" She moved away to collect a sheet from a cabinet and unfold it before moving back. "Go ahead and open your robe for me..."She turned her face away while Moira did so as she fluffed the sheet and let it drop over the exposed woman. No need to make her nervous right? Her head turned as the sheet fell into place though she did move it again to expose the woman's stomach. Hands were rubbed together to warm them before she lay then against her stomach, near her bladder, fingers pressed in"Does this hurt or feel uncomfortable at all?"
Moira: She kept still through the exam, letting whatever was needed to be done done to her. As any person coming to see a healer or any person of the profession, she half worried herself with thinking she had some dread disease that would kill her within a few months time. Pushing her thoughts from that as best as she was able she laid on the table as requested and smiled, all in how grateful she was for a small thing like a sheet, not in the least used to being on the exam table in the least. Normally she was never sick in her life so this was a rather new experience for her. She shook her head to the questions asked, no pain, no tenderness, her stomach didn't hurt to be touched.. right now. Had Avery done this exam an hour ago however it may have been a different story. "No, nothing hurts. But I also don't feel sick right now either. It comes and goes. Usually in the morning or late in the evening." Pity she hadn't come here at a much later or earlier hour but figuring if something was wrong with her the time wouldn't make much of a difference. "It is some disease that only attacks me when I am around a group of people perhaps." She knew that sounded silly, but it had no problem coming and nearly making her faint last week, quite out of the blue at that.
Avery: "OK well that is good a good sign. So sickness usually in the morning or late evening but it comes and goes. Do you find you get sick with the smell of food?" She shifted the sheet back into place and unfortunately let out a laugh. "Well, not a disease no, but nerves around large groups of people can cause symptoms like yours." Turning around, she found a stool and dragged it close with a sigh. "Truth be told, this could be just a cold, but as your healer for today, I do have to ask, when was your last courses? and are you sexually active?"
Moira: She looked at the woman with the questions and couldn't help her own laugh, the last question was one she almost didn't want to own up to but of course she had to. "Well, the last was.. uhm.. " She actually had to stop and think on the answer, truth be told she hadn't missed it in the sense of the absence at all. "Two.. months.. ago?" She stalled in the answer because off the top of her head she couldn't remember exactly. "And yes, I am, enough that I could possibly make up for those who aren't." There really was no shame in her answer but at the same time she wasn't one who liked to flaunt or advertise the fact either. "I'd never really had nerves around people before though, so that would be a bit unusual."
Avery: Hands folded in front of her as she patiently waited and even gave a nod of her head before she lifted up from the stool. "Well, like I said, it could very well be just a cold..but considering its been two months since your courses..It could very well be one of two things. I'd like to do one more then with you, if you'll trust me.."She lifted up off the stool and moved towards Moira feet. "Place your feet on the table and spread your legs." She waited for Moira to do so before shifting the sheet back. "Now, my hands are clean, this might be a little uncomfortable, but just trust me.." There was no flush of her cheeks or discomfort in Avery as yep, her hand moved in between Moira legs and pushed against her opening. No doubt uncomfortable to have a woman's hand up your vajaja but she only lingered a few moments, her other hand moving to push against Moira stomach, gently before both hands removed an the sheet was pulled down before Avery moved to clean off her hands. "You can close the robe and sit up..Miss MacArran..." She finished cleaning her hands and moved to sit on the stool once more, waiting as Moira re robed and sat up. "Well, I can tell you now, it's not a cold..I will um, be creating a chart for you. As from now on I'll be attending to you. Actually, I insist on tending to you, as this is my area of expertise...your with child Miss MacArran.." She paused to give the woman time to adjust to the news before she would continue, also giving her a moment to ask questions if she needed to.
Moira: Moira was willing and able to really allow whatever had to be done.. well done.. she was tired of feeling sick morning, noon and night so at random. So she moved her legs as instructed and while she wasn't flaming with embarrassment she wasn't going to start a round of applause for having someone putting their hand where she commonly didn't have woman putting their hands. But she let it go and let it be done, the whole part of it didn't take more than a minute or so anyway. Having the sheet replaced she at back up, replacing the robe to cover her up as well as a robe could do. She stared at the woman rather blankly. "I'm sorry.. what?" She hadn't lost her hearing, but perhaps her senses. And a chart, what would a chart do? It seemed she lost her ability to think and place random facts together as easily as she could before, not more than five minutes ago. "So I'm not dying of some dread disease?" And then on a last notion of thought.. "So I won't feel like I'm going to be sick forever?" Oddly, Moira was looking more forward to not feeling sick. The fact that her whole life was just altered didn't seem to quite hit her yet.
Avery: "Your going to have a baby"In all seriousness though she had to smile. Most woman felt a bit of shock when finding out such news, Moira was no different though all pregnancies were different. Sliding off the stood, she moved to the cabinet and took out a bottle of what looked like green leaves. "These are mint leaves, when you feel queasy, suck on this, but don't bite it, you can also use it on your teeth for after you throw up. No, you don't have a deadly disease and won't be sick forever, but some women do have morning sickness their whole pregnancy, each one is different. But another month or two should see it drop off. You will probably start to feel some tenderness in your breasts, and we'll start setting up weekly appointments for you to come in and see me to check on your process, but if you have any difficult's, any problems in between those appointments. You can feel free to come in." The bottle of leaves were handed over to her before hands folded in front of her body.
Moira: She realized, a little late, that she must of sounded like a child. Her concern was proportioned out to telling Shaden, she did -not- want to do that and perhaps even wouldn't. She never figured on being able or even wanting to remain a courtesan forever anyway, but she had expected to be more financially ready when she stopped to, which she wasn't right now, not at all. Focusing her gaze she took the mint given to her and nodded. The fact that she wasn't dying was good, or was supposed to be. "Yes, thank you for everything." If she had heard Avery or not, really heard her, was uncertain. But she did plaster on a smile. "So I am free to dress and go then?" When everything sank in a bit more, she would remember what was said, right now she needed to just.. go eat a nine course meal since it was no disease plaguing her body as she had thought.
Avery: "Of course, your free to dress and go..but should you have any questions, you can always send me notice. Lets say we will meet same day and time next week..just bring this.."She moved to jot something down on the parchment she brought it and took it to Moira"Give this to the woman in the front, where you came in, on your way out. She'll tell you payment and make sure your set for an appointment next week. I recommend though that you rest up the next couple of days, and of course...that you tell the father as soon as possible..but of course that's your choice..You won't of course start to show for a while but don't hesitate to eat what you crave, provided of course it's not harmful to the baby..that's to say, a glass of wine isn't recommended..and if you have an employer, I would recommend, but again your choice, to tell them as soon as possible, no heavy lifting...no exertion, you can still ride, horseback for at least another month, but I wouldn't recommend it, so if your profession requires anything, strenuous, I would recommend against it." She handed the parchment over and moved towards the door"I'll allow you to get dressed, I will see you again next week."A sunny smile was offered to the woman before the door opened and she stepped out.
