Moira: Moira made her way toward the castle, returned from Red Wall, a place she found rather interesting but by far too big. Though this castle was no exception to one of those many places she'd seen so far that would go down as over sized. Ah well. She walked to the entrance and looked about, checking to make sure she wasn't going to be jumped and beat into oblivion by aany guards that make take her as someone who had paid a visit with bad intentions. But no, they more than likely wouldn't think that either for she was dressed as someone who would not be out looking for a fight. A gown worn with a long train that swept on the ground, it would have been good for sweeping up snow or dead leaves had she not at least had the mid to hold the skirt up from the ground. It was gold in color with black decorative piping design sewn into it at the sleeves and hem of the skirt. The sleeves were long and tight until coming to the elboe where they opened up and fell near to her waist. The bodice was low cut in a squared off shape but not indecent, amazing no? She lingered in a doorway to begin with, uncertain just where people would be gathered and any castle was a maze to her so she would give pause for a person or two to be seen before she would either ask a guard sort or go off wandering to get lost all by herself!
Balian: The doors were drawn open, giving entrance to the Pale cloaked one. The remains of battle still evident against his battered armor, scratches and dents lined thick pieces of steel. Long locks of wheat were matted together and tied back with what was once a white bandana now stained with crimson and mud. His closed battered gauntlet was lift and brought to wrap against his heart in passing the guards who took more then a moment to look over the Marshall of Turas Lan. "Soldier." Spoken in the familiar deep tone of Windsor. "Where might I find her Grace?" His weight had shift, causing a the pale cloak to break and give light to the rest of his frame if for only a moment. [d]
cholar Kaori: Kaori was to be seen this evening back in the halls. After her rather fleeting departure from the mass of babble the evening before, she felt it was time to make an apology to any who had been present to see such a display, but most off all, to Beathag. Kaori knew well that she was not the only one to suffer from a separation from the one she loved, and she also know well that she wasn't the only one in pain. She had just been so bloody unprepared, telling herself Marcos was a merchant and not someone who would need to take up arms. It had been foolish, her desires prevailing over her common sense. Walking through the front hall, she first spotted a young woman she did not know looking a bit lost. She then heard the voice of Balian who she knew by reputation despite the fact they had never been introduced. Here she paused, waiting. If he were to gain direction to Beathag and she happened to : overhear the location, well that would suit her needs perfectly! (d)
Beathag: Music soothed the savage beast and calmed the raging storm wherein the heart of a nation was at the eye. The great standing harp of Murieall Aberdeen was too large, too precious to tote about. As if walls had eyes, a supersticion was devised that the old Harper's displeasure would manifest in phantom wind, her voice in corridors, if any but her kindred sought to think on the great instrument. Ireland supplied the strings, the body, and the Admiral had given her the gift of the old Ceannfort's instrument. In irony, this, too, was the harp of a woman now dead who had lain postrate as England over ran her soil. Her world was full of ghosts; the sealed doors where the bodies of her mother, and Adam's, lay in a state of perpetual rest had haunted her eyes for the first time. Now, it was Adam she waited for while playing away the spectors that had wanted to take him. He had been shot through the arm. Had the bolt gone more to the right? It was a thought she indulged in song, only. The emotion of the nation was laid out on the overturning fingers of a master at her craft. She struck at the bell-like strings with the same intensity a weapon was once held, a shipknot once tied. Men with tunics of the Griffin before a white hound could be seen in the halls. Balian would recognize them, fellow members of the knighthood's order to which he belonged. The Duchess' color had been called up to the fullest extent. A brother bowed to another, and found he answered the questions of three as their paths diverged, "The Great Room, M'lord. If you seek her two," he spoke thus to the women,"Follow Sir Brom." (d)
Jelenah: It was here and now in this time of urgency and war that the small blond Slavic woman would emerge from her duties as Lady, Sister, Wife and Friend. The night before had been troublesome for the lil woman as her husband had been in fowl mood. She had tried her best to calm him and she managed even if just a little. He had left their home in such a rush and fury that she was unable to follow. But now, now she would find safety within the walls of her homeland and it was here she would once more move about the servants as if she were just like them and nothing more. Voices were heard as she passed one hall to turn down another, all familiar save one. She would excuse herself from speaking with one of the maids to make her way as so to join the others. Long blond tresses were allowed to free flowly this night instead of being tied or bound back. Curls bounced and swayed with the light but quick movements of slippered feet. <d
Kaori: Kaori had indeed gotten the information she desired, and she obviously didn't have to try to be so sneaky about it. The information had been offered to her freely. Kaori looked toward the man who had married a good friend of hers, offering a smile and a curtsey. "I don't mean to be rude, but as we are seeking the same woman, perhaps we might walk together." Her eyes strayed toward the woman she didn't know, as if silently asking if she would be heading for the same destination before... Look at this! She suddenly caught sight of her blonde-headed friend, a broad smile appearing on Kaori's lips at the sight of her. Well, not only would she be able to take comfort in a friend'spresence, but perhaps gain an introduction she had been longing for quite a while now! (d)
Moira: She saw other people, good, she could follow them and then just move about and linger within the place. Tonight was no good for actual socializing, not when she had to choke and force herself to swallow back the feeling of nausea that had been plaguing her for more than an hour now. On top of that there was a feeling like blood was rushing through her body to settle anywhere but in her face. Perhaps a corset she wore had been laced too tight, Gerda was viscious with laces, yanking and pulling on them always as though she were fighting a stubborn belgium draft. The words of the one heard speaking of following one of the men were heard and she would follow when people began to move just to keep with the blending in, finding no reason she ought to stand out like a sore thumb this evening. [d]
Balian: He nodded just once to the response and did turn his head just enough to see the ladies following up in his wake. He smiled faint and polite like. "Greetings. Aye of course. ..I don't believe I have had the honor in knowing your name just yet.. ..I am Balian Windsor." Spoken while those golden spurred boots were sent back in motion to walk beside her, following the melody of the harp while he neared the great hall the sound intensified until finally he found himself but a few paces away from the Duchess. Once more bowing his head though he remained silent, clasping his fingers together before his battered torso to play spectator to the harp and the artist playing it. Word of battle had spread far and wide the country side over. Balian hadn't heard word of the Duke's wound but knew full well a great many good soldiers had been wounded or fallen in the last few weeks. Finally he could grin himself in knowing that he had his chance to strike back at the enemy and made an event of the day in killing every last man he found wearing the crest of the red bull. His head would tilt just a little once catching sight of the gorgeous blonde cause for a new smile to broaden across his lips. [d]
Beathag: It is said that the noble are the most sequestered people of the classes, that they pay the price of freedom for their wealth. One might protest the system but ultimately it was supposed to be set in stone, yes? The Aberdeens were a strange lot, vying for independence against conformity, exuding the regal countenance while not forfeiting the right to be themselves. The music was defiant enough to make the men who stood guard yearn for the fields of battle as they said nothing, if only to allow the music to speak for them. One man would speak while the others did not, "Good evening." Brom of the North, a man who too, favored, a given name for he had no last was left behind in Kendrew's stead. While the Champion went forth to make preperations, he was charged with the sacred, single minded task of seeing no fate similar befell the Duchess. "M'ladies..M'lord. I see a face I am not yet to know, " among them Moira stood out. Never one to shirk introductions, he would be pleasant while remembering her face. Each line of it. Any who stood near Beathag were in his mind. At least her face was one of the exquisite ones among hard countenances. "I am Brom. You keep good company among the High Scholar, the Lady-in-Waiting, and the Marshall. Come, all of you." He smiled to Kaori and Jelenah, they too had good faces. Lovely. loyal. To Balian he leaned over to speak of a matter among Order brethren ,"The full force has been called forward, my lord. Have you heard the news?" (d)
Jelenah: Her own eyes seem to light up with not but once face spotted but two! She would quicken her pace all the more, closing the distance between herself and the others as they gathered into the room with her heart sister. A woman she had known when she was but a tender within a tavern. It had been Bess and Eirian that saved her life that night. Kaori was soon met shortly afterward and since then, the four of them had a bond that few could ever know. She smiled to Kaori as she wrapped her arms about her. "It is so good to see you." She said as she pulled back with one arm linking to hers while the other was quick to slip under her husbands. "Indeed... for he is always gone... most likely out hunting for some alley cat." She teased as she looked between the two. "Kaori, this is my beloved husband, Lord Balian Windsor." A pause. "Balian, this is one of my dearest friends Lady Kaori Hataro." <d
Kaori" "Kaori Hotaro," Kaori had quietly spoken to Balian when his name had been given. Upon reaching the room Beathag was in, she would smile and offer a curtsey to the man who introduced himself as Brom, but would quickly find herself hugging Jelenah tightly. "As it is to see you, dear-heart," she said quietly. Once the introductions were made, Kaori nodded. "I know. Your husband was kind enough to introduce himself to me, though his reputation precedes him."Her eyes cast toward him as she said, "It is a pleasure to meet you," trying not to, but in the end having to add, "Hajimemachyte." She had lost a lot of old habits, but that was one she simply couldn't seem to break herself of. Arm-in-arm with Jelenah, she would then look to Beathag who played so beautifully. As she did, her eyes seemed to well with tears. She felt like a terror for the way she had acted the evening before, and wouldn't be surprised if her beloved Bess were to send her away without a second word. (d)
Moira:Perhaps she had simply done too much in a matter of days. She had returned from Red Wall only hours earlier and while there she had been idiotic enough to walk in the rain and cold in allready wet clothing. Then there was much tending to the children who had been taken and she had to add on the toll she paid emotionally for helping Shaden as much as she could with the poor woman's passed away infant. If it all effected Moira then she could not imagine how Shaden was doing but the woman she consided a friend was left in the hands of Nic and many others, most of whom had the abilities to care for Shaden far better than Moira would ever be able to. Not to say the memories hadn't kept her awake a couple of nights allready. So this evening she would make an attempt at seeing, doing, even hearing something to put her mind in another place where she would not be haunted by the images that were still all too fresh. The first to catch her attention from thought would be the one who introduced himself as Brom, Moira hadn't even known those she was among, it felt a bit odd, but being they all appeared friendly enough, well but for Balian - he looked las though he could harm people if something got him angry enough, but still even with that thought she did not find herself in company that struck her as unplesant or supplied that overwhelming need run in the opposite direction of them. [d]
Beathag: I am the voice o' the wind in the mountains, I am the heart in the depths o' the sea. The Goddess said forth, callin' tae him n' his sword was lifted. O, his sword was lifted! N' before the battle of hoardes he stood, a'facin' on. She sang for once in English. An English that was far better than that which she spoke, for art translates better on the mouth than common mortal words which had hard root on her tongue. Vibrating alto crescendo subdued, only to revive again as she watched the snow fall against the windowpane. A slight of steps a'many stilled the music with hand to dampen the strings, a head that turned over shoulder. A bit of emerald caught the fire, the eye of the Griffin in her hair matched the emerald wool. "Well now, was nay fancyin' tae see sae much company.." she offered up as her greeting with a half-smile from a place where joy was felt. Reclining back into her chair, the party would be offered seats in places close by, comfort by a fire. It seemed strange, this still scene when somewhere men laid down their lives. "Tis far better than' a great hall n' court." (d)
Balian: Balian would smile toward Brom and dip his chin while the man spoke and soon enough Jelenah had found his side, he closed his fingers around hers, though comfort may play into the factor soon enough if he didn't take off the heavy battered gauntlet. "Lady Kaori I am honored to meet you.. It always does me well to meet one of my wifes closest friends." Then Brom would lean in to speak again to Balian though it was a puzzled expression that was returned. "No I hadn't my brother…I have just return from a day of battle to report to her Grace..But thank you Sir Brom." The entire White Talon being called in was something that put things into true perspective, things really were that bad and the enemy was at the gates. "Where do I need to report to?" Even beat to hell and fatigued he was still ready for the next fight, the next challenge and the next chance at the enemy. Then once the Duchess began to speak Balians icy blues drift back toward her. "Your Grace."[d]
Jelenah: Jelenah would nod and smile as Kaori informed her that introductions had just been made prior to her arrival. "Well, seems I am a bit late then..." She added with a soft giggle. Once they were far enough within the room, Jelenah would carefully remove herself from each of the others hold and curtsey before Bess only to take up both arms again of her husband and then her friend Kaori. However, blue eyes of sapphire did see a strange face among the crowd. Awoman whom she had not seen before. In any case, Jelenah would do the polite thing, nod and smile to her as she hoped the woman would catch sight of both. The small lil Slavic woman returned her attention to Bess as she played, finding herself intrigued only more to her friends play of such an instrument while her husband spoke to Brom. When she was able, Jelenah would greet him as she had the others and then gaze about before looking back to Kaori. "Youmust return for another visit at the Estate. One for much longer time and see all that myself, Balian and our staff see to. We have chickens, a couple pigs, a dairy cow and of course there are the horses and our garden." These were all things that were considered not normal for a Lady like herself to deal with. But, she had been the daughter of a farmer once upon a time. It had been her dream to have all those things and a family of her own to share them with.<d
Kaori: "Do you now?" asked Kaori, softly laughing. "I would very much like that, actually..." Her eyes then strayed to Beathag, however, and Kaori reached across to give her friend's arm a squeeze. She then released it to approach Bess, her eyes shining over-bright, though she would not allow the tears to fall. She had done plenty of crying the night before, she would not allow it again. "I am... so sorry for how I acted last night. I beg your forgiveness." And in a show of humility, she moved to her knees, her chin dipped downward as if she were awaiting sentencing. It was really taking all her strength to keep from bending down and extending her arms as she would in Nihon. Then again, if she had acted the way she had last night in front of her Sovereign back in Nihon, she'd probably be waiting for the stroke of a sword to remove her foolish head. (d)
Beathag:The doubly bent knees were enough to make her friend appear as if she were paying praise to a large golden-headed idol. Furrowing her brow hard, a sigh came while eyes shut. Reaching out a hand from the harp, her body turned around so the reality of her condition was seen. "Wot is there tae forgive, Kaori. Get up. Ye aren't beneath me n' should nay stoop tae look it. Nay here. Ye voiced only wot any woman would think, aye? Ne'er fault a person fer bein' honest n' dun intend tae now. Were tha' ah could change the way o' service ,but it is wot it is. It does nay mean we can nay scream n' take it layin' pon our backs. M'only comfort n' it is tha' Ah stand on equal footin' with m'husband. Ah'm kept from thought by instinct n' duty. But Ah know what it is tae gae mad with wantin'. When we lived in Inverness, n' Adam went tae war fer the King o' Scotland at tha' time, m'world went black. Ah had ne'er loved man as him, n' have nay since. M'heart he took with him n' when I met him again, Ah had nay eaten fer months. m'belly was riddled with sores inside. Ah hardly slept, n' m'business, m'children, were all tha' kept me alive. But without him Ah know wot it is tae nay be much. " She took her finger beneath the small, white chin point and lifted it up, "When we lived in Orkney, Aodhan's father perished. M'heart knows yer plight, lass. Ah think they are made o'stronger stuff. These men. Fer here it seems we may be beaten but ne'er broken . If m'brother may be shot by bolts, if mah body may be declared dead yet I rise, n' if Adam is nay taken down ye may have faith tae be in our service is tae be made o' steel." The sides of her fingers followed the curve of her face before looking to Jelenah, "A handsome pair is here, n' ye bring one Ah've ne'er seen. Tis a time tae meet indeed," To Moira this was said, "Tis a time o' history. Please, ye all, sit.." Leaning over, she captured Jelenah's forearm and squeezed, leaning over to bestow her cheek a kiss (d)
Kaori: She was grateful for Bess' willingness to dismiss it, and Kaori quickly took the hand to her face and kissed the back of it before standing, and taking a deep, calming breath. She moved to one of the offered seats, smiling to the lady she had not yet been introduced to and indicating a place next to her, if she'd be willing to take it. She then watched to ensure Jelenah, too, would take a seat closes to her. She was so pleased to finally meet her husband. It was an introduction that had been far too long coming, and she was glad it had finally come to pass. They did make such an attractive couple, too! (D)
Balian: "Ah."He blinked. Shifting his weight from his left leg to his right while his blues moved from the Duchess back to Jelenah and then back toward Brom. His right hand came up to scratch at the back of his neck. "Hmm." He lift Jelenah's hand up and placed a soft kiss on top of it before he released it and started across the room, finding a chair to settle into. His left hand swept back, throwing the crimson and mud stained fabric aside before he settled in. [d]
Jelenah: Jelenah nodded and smiled brightley, she had all the things in life she could have ever wanted. She would have been happy if she were the Lady she is with all of that or a simple peasant woman with nothing more than rags to wear as her clothes. When Bess tugged her over for a kiss to the cheek, Jelenah smiled. The long blond strands of hair cascaded down along her arms and back, sliding over it with the movement. She gave one to Bess in return and then moved take the seat next to Kaori while her husband decided to sit elsewhere. He seemed distant tonight and perhaps it had a lot to do with the war. She understood as a mans mind could be in so many places when these things were happening. She looked back to Kaori and leaned in, getting a pretty good idea of what must have happened the night before. "Kaori, we are all in this together now as we were then back in Orkney. The only differnce now is I too am among themany women here who has to see her husband off. Together we survived it then and together we will survive it now." A hand took firm hold of Kaori;s and a squeeze was given. <d
Moira: And Moira was about to sit before she turned quite suddenly and rushed from the room in a swish of gold. She nearly bowled over a guard who moved into her path at her sudden movement, quick reflexes on that one but he'd better have quicker ones and move out of her way lest he end up wearing something which no human would ever have a wish to wear. She bolted outside like something posessed. The moment the cold fresh air hit her face she felt better, much cooler, and she could breathe again. A curosity entered her mind if she hadn't picked up an illness of some sort during that cold, rainy, wet and long trip to Red Wall. She breathed in a good handful of deep breaths to calm her uneasy stomach and her nerves. Slowing the breathing when she began to feel light headed from it. One thing on top of another. [d]
Beathag: The meeting was unsettled by the lady unsettled and ill. Beathag looked to her with a bit of worry as she instructed one of the guards to fetch the castle's healer to see that she was well. "Her body is how m'mind acts," she said aloud in a sort of murmur. "N' I imagine the world must feel just as violently ill." Earlier in the day, had they but seen her...no..it was not a discussion for now. Not when the world was calm and all matter of things could be handled in a signature way of being. While a healer followed the lady's steps, Beathag set to work trying to see if the land could be healed. "Balian, wot did ye see in yer travels?" (d)
Kaori: "Please don't remind me of Orkney," she said quietly, a hand subconsciously moving to her belly before she let her head fall to rest on Jelenah's shoulder a moment. "I couldn't bear losing Marcos..." The sudden departure of the stranger, however, had Kaori straightening once more and looking over her shoulder in a puzzled way. At least Beathag was seeing to her well-being. With Bess' question she looked to Balian curiously. He had wanted to report to her, hadn't he? All the while she remained holding Jelenah's hand. Marcos was gone as of this morning, and she needed the comfort desperately. Carri had been asking for her Daddy all day long, which was typical. Only tonight shewould not be blessed with his attention and adoration. She forced the thought from her head to listen to what news Balian might have brought. (d)
Jack: It was by direct order of the Duchess that saw the Irishman returning that evening to the Griffin Castle. For this evening, the Irishman was wearing his formal dress uniform his evening, as he and his Lady.... his own cut Lily.. upon his arm. The Irishman smiled softly toward Maggie, as they made their way toward the Great Room. There was a soft smile, before he said, "Dae nae be nervous, m'dear.... she only wishes ta meet ye....." (d)
Balian: His brow lift watching Moira rush from the hall, though he wouldn't speak on it. He simply started to work the straps free from his gauntlets one by one working them free and resting them against the ground beside the chair. Icy blues settled on his bruised sore hands, turning them over to look at both sides and map the lines etched into his flesh into his memory. Then hearing his name his head tilt upward settling his attention on the Duchess. "..We engaged a scouting party just north of Turas lan at first light.. .. Small group of men that were quickly dispatched.. I followed their trail further south along the border and found a camp.. We rode into the fight and cleaved a battallion in the blanket of winter cold. .. There torso's lay steaming now." He licked his lips and with a blank stare he continued on. "There ears.. and tongues.. I sent south to the next camp.. there heads..I sent down the river to find there fleet at port side."[d]
Maggie: "How could I not be nervouse.. she holds my future and yours.. ours... in her hands.. what if she doesn't approve?" she whispered back at his beneath her breath.. her stomach did flip flops.. as she walked beside him, a quiet swis sh of skirts, dark blue velvet trimmed in golden bindings, about her neck the golden necklace with the Flynn Family Crest.. her only adornment.. dark hair piled high in artful confection pinned into place, but it was her complexion, the dusky hue of the quadroon, coupled with her starteling cobalt hues, that slanted upward in exoctic repose that captured attention.. a very oddly aluring presence.. yet for all her poise and training, she felt like a school girl taken before the headmistress.. " Perhaps we should come back another day.. when she's not so busy.. she looks busy " her arm.. pulled back slighlty as if she would bolt.(D)
Moira The temperature of her body felt like it had decided to sky rocket on her, standing outside her her back pressed against the wall was the only thing that made her feel better. Even though it was so cold out here she would have gladly stripped off all her clothes and dug a hole in a mountain of snow to sit in. The healer who was approaching her with a menacing look on her face, that was how Moira imagined and took it, was waved off. The help of someone who would probably try to force herbs and other vile concoctions on her was far from a welcome thing. [d]
Corset: "But M'lady. Please, wave me not away. I only wish to help, to see what ails you. Your health is a concern of her Grace's, and the health of any in these walls be a concern of mine. Now don't be stubborn, it isn't becoming, and just how far do you plan to get, a huffin' as you are? Biddies probably are so high to your chin they'll strangle your neck.." The healer in the company of Moira was not going to be dismissed away like one of the apprentices. Oh no! The Aberdeens were a tough lot, and she was gentle yet stern, or the Court Physician would not have placed her hence. "Now you just stop all this nonsense n' come with me, my dear. Let's solve the matter properly, can nay have maidens fleeing about Grifin Castle looking for chamber pots to give their belly bile too. Her Grace is with child, I shall have you know! The servants of the Griffin were as stubborn as their sovereigns. So she would wait right there, while meanwhile,
Beathag:Beathag listened to conversation that would have turned the stomach of a genteel woman who had never so much as seen one drop of refuse in her life. But even with babe in tow, the Duchess was not squeamish. As the Admiral was being shown forward to present the Lady that was his future, Beathag listened to the future of the nation. "Yer quick, Marshall o' Turas Lan, as are yer riders. Ye've done well. Sae well n' fact m'hopes are the English will appreciate the gifts." The exact letter of her command he had followed. Had his own want for blood, for vengence, made it easy? Strange a mother in supine repose could discuss death without flinching.(d)
Jelenah: Jelenah nodded, suddenly feeling ashamed for having reminded Kaori of then and comparing it to now. That was the last thing she needed to hear and the last thing Jelenah had intended to do. She gave another squeeze of her hand to Kaori's and then looked from Kay, to her husband and then Bess. Talk of Balian's ride of success was spoken of. How he had seen to remove the parasites of this land that dared to invade it. She was use to it now really, hearing talk among he and his men, being privy to that with the Duchess and all other sorts of matter in the same category. Not to mention, like some, she had been victim of such things, reason behind the nightmares she still ocassionally had. Her eyes darted to the door, thinking that the young woman who, had fled so quickly returned, yet it was the Admiral and his Lady. A nod and smile was granted to them both as they entered before she looked to Bess once more. <D
Moira: Moira was not trying to be rude, but she saw little need for a healer. Just her luck to have a wave of nausea hit her so strongly she had to get out or soil the floor of the castle. She took another breath and nodded to the woman. Pressing away from the wall, the healer could very well have been right, the corset had been tied so tight she thought it may cut her in half. "I am sorry, I meant no offense." She would follow the healer wheree ever the woman lead, now having coming to her senses for the time being. [d]
Balian: "Its only just begun your Grace." He cringed when his hands came down to the arms of the chair forcing himself back to his feet. The pale cloak snapping back to meet spurred heels. "Theres still enough fight in me to see this through.. ..Do you have anymore special requests for the English?" He turned his head hearing the arrival of the Admiral and Lady. Nodding a polite greeting to the both of them before his attention moved back to Bess. [d]
Jack: The Irishman laughed quietly, offering a shake of his head. "M'dear..... dae remember tha' ye are gaein' ta address tha' woman tha' Seanna calls 'Aunti'....." He smiled softly, "I am sure tha' she shall be able ta make time fer tha likes o' us... we are family tae 'er...." (d)
Maggie "you may be family.. but I doubt she looks on me with kindness. considering I'm a Lily.. Jacques... " she pasted on a smile as they approched the Duchess, and curtseied deeply, dark head bowing in respect as she remained in such pose until given relife.. at Jack's side(d)
Kaori: Kaori looked over her shoulder as everyone else did, offering a smile to the Admiral and the lady on his arm. She was abnormally quiet this evening, but she ahd much on her mind. She was very grateful to be surrounded by friends right now. In the mean time she had her babies, along with Aodhan and the prospect of two new students to keep her occupied and cheerful. She had thought it would be difficult, but the children were a welcome reprieve from her worry. She loved them dearly, her own and the ones she was in charge of teaching, and it was their innocence and confidence the future was a beautiful place that helped her maintain optimism. Soon Marcos would return home, healthy and safe. There was no alternative, after all... She only wished she could cling to that perspective when she was no longer with them. (d)
Beathag: "Aye," she devised, soothing the child inside of her with hands rubbing the belly, "Ah want his highest general's head n' body in two boxes, delivered tae the King. Maubrey's body will ne'er make it tae England as it will be our Lord's pleasure tae deem otherwise. Though m'thinks we shall have the talk further, 'pon the parapets, aye?" A date with destiny was set as history would roll on at that place for while they had bellies of iron, some might find it hard to stomach. With no aversion to finality, she wanted to make sure any invader knew what awaited them on Skye Isle. As it was, another sort of fate ,a gentler kind, was dipped low infront of her as if on bated breath. Now, Beathag bid the Lily rise, but was looking over her as a student does the lesson of his tutor. Fair of face, figure, and form. But naturally! Shaden did not elect dandelions where should be roses she suspected, but now what made this rose want to bloom wild among the simple lot? Union was the stuff of romantic fancy to some, so beneath the pinned hair it would be proven if she were solidified in her resolve or had the stuff of fluff there ."Sae ye are the woman who has turned the Admiral's eye n' lifted his spirits. Fer tha' alone, I owe ye a boon o' gratitude. Will ye come n' sit with me n' the others? Here beh the Lord Windsor, n' Lady Windsor, the Lady Hotaro, n' as fer m'self, Ah think ye know who I am." She smiled and hoped that the woman would not come so far unglued as to faint (d)
Maggie: Riseing gracefuly she spoke softly in accented dilect tha reflected a deep French lilt... " Your Grace " again the dark head dipped " I would be delighted to join you.. " she moved to take a seat near the Duchess, not once did her coutenance turn toward Jack.. that would be a sign of fear, or unease.. at which it was known to courteasans and women alike.. one sign of fear and the pack pounced.. cobalt eyes seemed to shimmer with unbridled intelligence as she nodded to each introduced in turn.. " PLeased to meet you Lord Windsor.. Lady Windsor.. Lady Hotaro..." each recived a soft dip of her form befor she settled.(d)
Kaori: Kaori would smile and nod as her name was spoken. "It's a pleasure," would be the soft reply. She was doing her best to remain smiling and happy. No sense in walking about the castle in high dudgeon when others had just as much right to feel the same as she yet managed to maintain their own happiness. She just... Well, it hadn't exactly been encouraging to find herself a widow at the age of two and twenty. And scholars did so love to speak of how history repeated itself. She only hoped as the days passed she'd manage to break out of this reprehensible self-pity. Perhaps if she considered each day during separations a day closer to having her beloved back, it would be easier. (d)
Castle Healer: "Come, right here to this room. Let me see what we are to do, I think, first off, ye laces may be too tight. Women are always a'sufferin for the sake of fashion. I am sure that pretty gown is held together by some unholy binding. When God put a curse on Eve, I don't even think he had that in mind, my dear." Moira was led to a room not from from the Great Room, to where she was offered a seat as the healer would do what she saw fit to better the lady's health. "First ye need a good gulp of air. Not one of those little shallow flutter-by breaths you young ladies are so fond of taking to make the bosom quiver. Now..let me look again. Mmhmm. Paling. You need a flush of color. First thought is we should unlace ya." (d)
Balian: Balian nodded just once watching his sovereign while she made her next command. "And it will be so." He started forward and came to the side of his wife's chair leaning down he placed a soft kiss to her lips before he started back toward the doors. "I will retire the evening and see to my wounded." The mission was already being plotted and planned even now as he made way for the winter cold, then hearing the introduction of his name he did pause to look back with a light bow of his head in greeting toward Shaden "I am honored." before he continued out the doors. [d]
Jelenah: Jelenah continued ti sit quietly, watch, listen, and learn. She was often a follower and rarely a leader this one. Use to blending in with the background of things instead of being the one that stood out. When Bess made the
introductions, Jelenah smiled and replied back. "A pleasure to meet you as well." Eyes did leave Maggies once the woman was well settled and lifted to that of her husband. She nodded, kissed him back and watched him leave. She then turned to Kaori. "Would you like to accomany me for some tea as I need to retire soon. There's much to see about come the morrow." She asked as she moved to stand. She went to the side of Bess, hugged her, kissed her cheek and moved toward the door. First, she go see about the Lady that left in such a rush, if she could find her, then get that tea. She looked over her shoulder to see if Kaori was to follow and then made her exit. <d
Moira: Moira had a good reason for suffering for the sake of fashion for if she looked like a run of the mill 'normal person' she may be risking what income she had right now. She listened to the woman going on about breathing and so forth. Though for that and to deal with the laces meant she would have to change full, she didn't come to the castle with a spare set of clothing would be the problem. "And how would you suggest going about that? If I remove this gown I may never be able to get back into it again." Which was the honest truth
Kaori: Kaori grinned gratefully, nodding. "That would be lovely, actually." Kay stood and smoothed down her dress. No! She would not become that detestable, self-loathing creature she had been in Orkney. She would surround herself with friends, remember to count her blessings, and rejoice in the fact she now knew love in many manifestations. Friends, children, and then her betrothed. Following Jelenah in suit, she too would offer a hug and kiss for Beathag before following her friend for an evening cup of tea before bed. (d)
