Dancing. Spinning. Twirling.
The laughter of children carried upon the gentle breeze. Not even the chill in the air could keep the three from playing about the small stream that ran down into the lake outside. Synnovea, wearing a tan muslin skirt and white blouse, chased after her little Haji, dressed identically like his older brother, who hid behind William, dressed in simple black pants and green tunic. Playful giggles had a smile curving full peach lips of the Mother who stood in the doorway watching them with love shining in the sapphire depths of her eyes. Ivory hands covered in flour were wiped on the apron over her simple peach gown, it's simple lines not hiding the slight bulge in her abdomen, and she lovingly touched her stomach.
"You're going to catch your deaths out here." Loving censure clear in the warm tone that carried forth had the children pausing.
Synnovea was now kneeling on the grass, uncaring of staining her skirts, as she tickled Haji's stomach while William, the traitor!, held him down. Three wide smiles on precious faces looked at their Mother and there was a tug at her heart. It was Haji who broke the quiet, endearing moment with a shriek of joy as he wiggled free and darted to hide behind Chantal's skirts.
"Mama! Save!" That dark, adorable face lifted to look up at her causing a gentle chuckle to pass her own lips. "Aye, I will save my little Haji. You two should be ashamed of yourself to pick on your sweet brother..." Lifting the boy onto her hip, she looked out at Synnovea and William with a pretend facade of displeasure until fingers found the spot on her littlest son's side that made him break into laughter all over again.
The children were joined by their Mother in a game of chase and tickle once the littlest squirmed free. Soon this family would have another. Such happy times after dark ones...
